Christian hoteliers charged with insulting Muslim guest

A Christian couple who run a hotel have been charged with a criminal offence for allegedly insulting a female Muslim guest about her beliefs.

Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang are charged with breaching Section 5 of the Public Order Act – causing harassment, alarm or distress. If convicted, they face fines of £2,500 each and a criminal record.

The Muslim woman was staying at the Bounty House Hotel in Liverpool, which is run by the Vogelenzangs, when a conversation arose between the hoteliers and their guest about her faith.

It is understood that among the topics debated was whether Jesus was a minor prophet, as Islam teaches, or whether he was the Son of God, as Christianity teaches.

Among the things Mr Vogelenzang, 53, is alleged to have said is that Mohammad was a warlord. His wife, 54, is said to have stated that Muslim dress is a form of bondage for women.

“My dreams are gone.”

“It is already too late for me.”

“My life has been destroyed.”

At first, the words pouring from the mouth of the girl with jewel eyes hemmed in kohl sound like a typical teenage lament.

Her tone is plain and without melodrama – she believes what she says. And there are plenty of reasons she should.

In the span of about one year, the 15-year-old, named Sitara, has been yanked out of school, off a path that hinted at promise, and sold by her father for 700,000 Afghanis (about $15,000) into a marriage that, already, she has “nothing left for.”

“It seems like men take women as servants, so they can be abusive towards them,” she explained in a hushed on-camera interview conducted secretly in Kandahar while her husband was at work. “It’s not just the husband, there’s also the mother-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and they all rule over me; … whenever I do something bad, anyone who gets angry with me beats me.”

Rather than poring over textbooks, Sitara has spent most of her sophomore year willing herself to feel love for the illiterate, middle-aged Kandahari who is now her husband, learning to look after his family’s livestock and reconfiguring her singed plans for the future into a form compatible with her new life as this wife.

“And even now, I don’t want my husband,” she said. “I come from a very open-minded family, but since I’ve come to this family, I feel that my life has been destroyed.” Continue Reading →

Canadian Islamist group against the crushing of section 13; HRC

The Canadian Islamic Congress one of Canada’s preeminent Islamist groups, fears the crushing of section 13 as legislated within the nations’ Human Rights Commission(s). Why does this outfit wring their hands in such despair? Could it be that the absence of such a provision would severely curb their ability to launch potential, future law-fare complaints against those who legitimately criticize radical Islam?

It may be worth noting that the CIC’s former boss Mohammed Elmasry has since ‘retired’ from the CIC feeling no doubt a bit quirky and f—– up at his public, national smack-down as prominent, Islamist agent provacateur. In believing ‘Canada deserves better media coverage’ than that by which ‘the Zionist controlled media’ could offer, he has since launched the Canadian Charger this past July; (tip: leg, thigh, butt and hip weighters required to muck about in the Pond of CC bullocks). Wahida Valiante now in charge of the CIC, has managed to only slightly and selectively tighten the taps on the flow of her groups’ overt, Islamist operational exercise in Canada, replacing Elmasry with a slightly friendlier, but no less menacing face.

I would be interested to know if there is anyone who could confirm any “false and inflammatory’ allegation(s) quoted from MP Ander’s distributed material found in the paragraph highlighted below. So far I can find no falsehood as 1, 2 and 3 are true. If one can do so, I will gladly buy a pulled pork sandwich and a pint on your behalf, in support of The International Free Press Society.

Canadian Islamic Congress Cautions Against Legalizing Hate Speech In Canada

ALL CANADIANS COULD BE ENDANGERED BY CONSERVATIVE MOVES TO WEAKEN HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTIONS, CIC WARNS

The Canadian Islamic Congress issued a warning today about the disturbing use of discriminatory language and misleading statements in campaign pamphlets by Calgary MP Rob Anders.

The pamphlets, issued to Calgary West constituents, relate to the anti-hate powers of the Federal Human Rights Commission. The CIC finds this material to be inflammatory and factually misleading.

“When any politician targets a minority group with disinformation or misleading statements in order to score points with a perceived majority electorate, this needs to be challenged by all Canadians, not only the targeted groups,” said CIC National President Mrs. Wahida Valiante.

Mr. Anders’ pamphlets, which urge constituents to support his efforts to delete the anti-hate protections enshrined in the Canadian Human Rights Act, “cross the line of fair comment to unfairly target Canadian Muslims with inflammatory and factually false material,” continued Mrs. Valiante.

“MP Anders’ distortion of the anti-discrimination work undertaken by human rights commissions in this country highlights the efforts of some Conservative MPs to undermine institutions that protect equality rights and multiculturalism in Canada.”

The false and inflammatory allegations (quoted from MP Anders’ distributed materials) include:

1. “Under section 13 of the so-called “Human Rights” code, Canadians have been prosecuted for holding personal beliefs which offend radical Muslim Imams…” 2. Did you know … it is now illegal to hold opinions that offend radical Muslim activists.” 3. Did you know … In 2007, best selling Canadian author, Mark Steyn, was hauled before the Human Rights Commission. His crime — writing about the dangers of radical Islam. Muslim activists took offence with Mr. Steyn’s writing and lodged ‘human rights’ complaints against him.”

In response to the above excerpts, and similar sentiments voiced by Mr. Anders and his supporters, CIC National Executive Director Imam Dr. Zijad Delic continued:

“In Canada it is not illegal to publish controversial opinions or materials which are subjectively offensive. What the Canadian Human Rights Act prohibits is the publication of material that is hateful,” he explained.

Dr. Delic also emphasized that MP Anders’ singling out of complaints filed only by Muslim Canadians — in a context where all minorities have availed themselves of the same anti-hate protections — raises troubling questions about the Conservatives’ views on which Canadians deserve legal protection … and which, by inference, do not.

“The Harper government’s treatment of Mr. Abousfian Abdelraziq and Ms. Suaad Hagi Mohamud, to mention only two recent examples, has already raised concerns about two-tier citizenship,” Dr. Delic noted. “Now it seems some Conservative MPs also believe that not all communities are entitled to file human rights complaints.”

“With an election on the horizon, all Canadians must be extremely mindful of Conservative attempts to undermine equality rights in Canada and to erode the concept of official multiculturalism that made Canada what it is today,” Mrs. Valiante concluded.

al-Qaeda warns German voters to elect opposition or face ‘bad awakening’

Al-Qaeda warned Germans on Friday to change their government in the September 27 election, saying they will face a “bad awakening” if they do not, according to two intelligence monitoring services.

Germany was also told to withdraw its 4,200 troops from Afghanistan or face being attacked at home, the US-based groups said.

In video footage a man identified as Abu Talha the German, and speaking in German, says that if Chancellor Angela Merkel is re-elected, “bitter times await the Germans,” according to IntelCenter and the SITE Intelligence Group.

He asks: “Mrs Merkel, what is the logical outcome reaped by the British and Spanish conservatives by their support for the Iraq war?” in an apparent reference to attacks in Madrid and London in 2004 and 2005.

Ottawa – Army staff and National Defence headquarters officials were told in 2007 that young boys had allegedly been sexually abused by Afghan security forces at a Canadian base in Afghanistan, but the concern at the time was that the incident might be reported in the news media, according to military records obtained by the Citizen.

In addition, last year Brig.-Gen. J.C. Collin, commander of Land Force Central Area, passed on to the senior army leadership the concerns raised by military police who said they had been told by their commanders not to interfere in incidents in which Afghan forces were having sex with children.

The newly released records raise questions about a military investigation that earlier this year concluded that allegations about sexual abuse of Afghan children by members of the Afghan army and police were unfounded. The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service also stated that its thorough investigation concluded allegations of such incidents were never reported to Canadian military commanders. President Nicolas Sarkozy said French intelligence agencies are certain that Iran is hiding a nuclear weapons program, Ynet News reported Sept. 16. Sarkozy stated that Iran cannot be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons because it is a threat to Israel. The French leader added that he will not shake the hand of someone who wants to wipe Israel off the map.

Canadian soldier killed, four injured in Afghanistan IED blast

Ottawa Citizen… KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan — The price Canada pays for waging war in Afghanistan has risen once more with the death of Pte. Patrick Lormand, 21, who was killed in action Sunday when a Canadian armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

Pte. Lormand is the 130th soldier to die in Afghanistan since the mission began in 2002. Four other Canadian soldiers received minor injuries in the blast, and were treated and released from hospital.

Brig.-Gen. Jonathan Vance described Pte. Lormand as a proud and heroic infantryman who “came here to do right by Afghanistan, to serve Canada’s objective to help bring peace, a chance for lasting security and a better environment to live and raise a family.”

In praising Pte. Lormand, however, Gen. Vance also seemed to take aim at the growing voices of opposition to the war back home.

“He did not come here as a potential victim. He came here to help, and help he did. He does not need to be told his efforts are futile, for he could see positive results in the communities he was protecting.” said Gen. Vance. “Neither he nor his family benefit from uninformed opinions about what his goals were and the techniques he used to achieve them. You need only look into those young clear eyes to know that he was a good soul, who tried every day to do the right thing and saw in the results of his efforts a chance to succeed on a wider scale on behalf of Canadians and Afghans alike.”

Canada’s role in Afghanistan was sharply criticized by Senator Colin Kenny in an op-ed article published in some Canwest newspapers on the weekend.

“What we hoped to accomplish in Afghanistan is proving to be impossible,” wrote Mr. Kenny, chair of the Senate Committee on National Security and Defence. “We are hurtling toward a Vietnam ending.” Continue Reading →

Sitting on the floor, wearing traditional Islamic clothes and holding an old notebook, Abu Hamizi, 22, spends at least six hours a day searching internet chatrooms linked to gay websites. He is not looking for new friends, but for victims.

“It is the easiest way to find those people who are destroying Islam and who want to dirty the reputation we took centuries to build up,” he said. When he finds them, Hamizi arranges for them to be attacked and sometimes killed.

Hamizi, a computer science graduate, is at the cutting edge of a new wave of violence against gay men in Iraq. Made up of hardline extremists, Hamizi’s group and others like it are believed to be responsible for the deaths of more than 130 gay Iraqi men since the beginning of the year alone.

The deputy leader of the group, which is based in Baghdad, explained its campaign using a stream of homophobic invective. “Animals deserve more pity than the dirty people who practise such sexual depraved acts,” he told the Observer. “We make sure they know why they are being held and give them the chance to ask God’s forgiveness before they are killed.” Continue Reading →

Michael Coren: Troubled times in my hometown

The past tends to be viewed through a defiantly rose-tinted lens. My memory of childhood and youth is one of security, happiness and a glorious ordinariness. I grew up in a town in the south of England called Walthamstow. It’s in the county of Essex but has long been an annex of East London. Working-class, earthy, bland, safe. I remember the local park where we played soccer until it was too dark to see the sweaters we’d thrown down on the grass to act as goalposts.

I write this now because the image is painful and poignant for me. Walthamstow-raised 28-year-old Abdulla Ahmed Ali would meet with his gang in this same park to plan the largest terrorist bombing in British history, one that could have led to the deaths of thousands of innocent men, women, children and babies, including Canadians flying on Air Canada jets from London to Toronto and Montreal. Ali and two others, Tanvir Hussain and Assad Sarwar, were convicted this week of conspiracy to commit mass murder. A fourth man was convicted of conspiracy to murder.

Malmo Firemen made to buy face shields and bullet proof vests

As many of you may or may not know, The Al Queda handbook teaches the Muslim ‘diaspera’ to create ‘no go zones’ by setting fires and other anti-social acts that require a response from the state, and then attacking the various institutions who respond such as fire, ambulance, police etc. in order to create zones which are under Islamic control and sharia law. This strategy has been employed to tremendous success all over Europe as leftist ‘politically correct’ bureaucrats and government agencies who are either, on side with Muslims and more often, afraid to mention the truth in case they lose the illusion of stable good governance with the electorate, fail to properly inform the public about what is analogous to a cancer growing in the social body.

This is todays manifestation of the western response. Swedish firemen being made to dress for war, rather than fire.

One senior collegue has quit the force, as he did not feel he could guarantee the safety of his men. Several others have asked to be transferred to service elsewhere other than Malmo.

The night before Saturday five more cars were torched in Gothenburg, and the night before Friday four cars were set on fire. The car-burnings are noticed by the Swedish media, but there are also schools and non-descript sheds burning in several Swedish towns.

People are now asking themselves how far this will spread, and if Gothenburg’s suburbs are turning into their own versions of Rosengård. The question seems to have some merit since police, fire fighters, and ambulance personnel are greeted with stone-throwing when they arrive in Gothenburg’s suburbs, and grownups who try to keep some order in their neighborhood don’t dare to venture out at night anymore, after repeated gunfire in the areas.

During one fire-fighting call, a fire truck got a 5.7 kilo stone through the front window, lightly injuring three men. They were lucky, escaping fatalities by inches. The incident is viewed as an attempted homicide. Finally, at about three in the morning on Sunday, somebody set off a bomb outside the door of an apartment house. Continue Reading →

Britain, abandoned.

Today there are 85 sharia courts operating openly in the United Kingdom. Academic Denis MacEoin authored a recent report published by Civitas, refuting a previous claim that only 5 such courts were in existence and tells of their increase and danger(s) associated with the spreading of Islamic law in Britain.

Mr. MacEoin worries these courts could lead to different legal standards and their application to Muslim and non-Muslim citizens. He says ” It is not a matter of eating halal meat or seeking God’s blessing on one’s marriage. It is a challenge to what we believe to be the rights and freedoms of the individual, to our concept of a legal system based on what parliament enacts, and to the right of all of us to live in a society as free as possible from ethnic-religious division or communal claims to superiority to a special status that puts them in some respects above the law to which we are all bound”.

Among the findings, the report indicates the type of rulings meted out by sharia courts, including the advisement of illegal actions and transgressions of human rights standards as applied by British courts. Sharia courts ban Muslim women from marrying non-Muslim men unless the potential groom agrees to convert and (they) advocate for the removal of a wife`s property rights upon divorce. Despite the increase of sharia courts, there are groups who believe these rulings are restrictive and do not go far enough. Islam4UK is an example of such a group who would like to see Britain become an Islamic state, wholly under the jurisdiction of Shariah law in every matter, whether civil, criminal or otherwise, along with the brutal, prejudicial  and ancient  punishments prescribed by this system. They see this as the inevitable outcome of the Islamic re-population of the U.K. and it appears as though there are precious few in Britain’s current power-base who care to even recognize this threat, let alone assist in preventing it. ‘Female bomber’ exhibit sparks fury in Tel Aviv

An art exhibit depicting various female Palestinian suicide bombers as the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus, which opened at the Sokolov House press center in Tel Aviv on Thursday, was quickly taken down following an outcry from the families of those killed or wounded in the attacks, as well as by organizations that represent terror victims.

The exhibit, which featured the work of artists Galina Bleich and Liliah Check, consisted of a series of paintings of the women – some with halos around their heads – rendered to look like Renaissance-era portraits of Catholic saints.

Sokolov House agreed to take the portraits down on Thursday afternoon, but another section of the exhibit – sand and dirt that had been taken from the scenes of the bombings and spread out across canvas – remained on the gallery’s walls.

The artists defended their work on Thursday, but the victims’ families expressed outrage over both the content of the exhibition and the fact that Sokolov House, the headquarters of the Israeli Journalists Association, had agreed to show it.

Dalit Levy, whose 17-year-old stepdaughter Rachel was killed in a suicide bombing as she shopped at the Supersol supermarket in Jerusalem’s Kiryat Hayovel neighborhood on March 29, 2002, along with the store’s security guard, Haim Smadar, 55, arrived outside Sokolov House on Thursday afternoon with an Israeli flag draped over her shoulders, and placed plastic sheeting on the sidewalk.

“You want art?” she asked a group of reporters who had gathered around her. “Here’s art!” she said, before spilling a can of red paint next to a photograph of her stepdaughter and two memorial candles. “This is the blood of our children!”

Almagor, The Association for Terror Victims in Israel, also issued a stern response to the exhibit, and threatened to take legal action if the portraits were not taken down.

“Nahum Sokolov [for whom Sokolov House is named] is rolling in his grave today,” said Almagor’s chairman, Meir Indor.

“We’ve contacted the attorney-general and asked him to take legal action against the exhibition’s representatives,” he added. “Any action that strengthens or praises the murderous acts of terrorism is violating the law and hurting the general public by legitimizing the murders.”

Indor said his group was worried the artists would try to show the exhibit elsewhere.

“We’ve been in contact with the artists, and made it clear that we want them to add information to the material so that people will understand that this is not promoting terrorism, but against it,” he said.

“But at this point it’s unclear if they are willing to agree to that. As it stands, if they continue to show the work the way it is now, we will obviously continue our struggle against it.”
