UK to publish book on religion and women despite fear of Muslims

It is sort of interesting I suppose that the publisher even considered not printing this book. A sign of the times indeed. It is perhaps also surprising that contrary to most headlines these days the publisher decided to go ahead and publish despite the fact that they know for an absolute certainty that some Muslims will use this book as an excuse to be violently offended. Is the worm turning? We shall know soon.

An academic book about religious attitudes to women is to be published this week despite concerns it could cause a backlash among Muslims because it criticises the prophet Muhammad for taking a nine-year-old girl as his third wife.

The book, entitled Does God Hate Women?, suggests that Muhammad’s marriage to a child called Aisha is “not entirely compatible with the idea that he had the best interests of women at heart”.

It also says that Cherie Blair, wife of the former prime minister, was “incorrect” when she defended Islam in a lecture by claiming “it is not laid down in the Koran that women can be beaten by their husbands and their evidence should be devalued as it is in some Islamic courts”.

This weekend, the publisher, Continuum, said it had received “outside opinion” on the book’s cultural and religious content following suggestions that it might cause offence. “We sought some advice and paused for thought before deciding to go ahead with publication,” said Oliver Gadsby, the firm’s chief executive. The book will be released on Thursday.

A recent novel that also dealt with Muhammad’s relationship with Aisha provoked an outcry. The Jewel of Medina caused such anger that a Muslim extremist was convicted earlier this month of trying to firebomb the office of its publisher. Continue Reading →

‘Slavery’ mother-in-law is jailed

A 63-year-old woman who imprisoned her three daughters-in-law, treating them as “slaves and dogs”, has been jailed for seven years.

Naseebah Bibi would not let the women – also her nieces – leave the family home in Blackburn, Lancashire, without permission, Preston Crown Court heard.

One victim told police she had been forced to work on an industrial sewing machine day and night for 13 years.

The women had arranged marriages to Bibi’s three sons, their first cousins.

Bibi, of Pringle Street, had denied falsely imprisoning Nagina Akhtar between 1993 and 2006, Tazeem Akhtar from 2001 to 2003 and Nisbah Akhtar between 2005 and 2007.

But she was convicted at the court on 14 April.

All three women were brought to the UK following arranged marriages to Bibi’s three sons but were subjected to beatings and abuse from her after they arrived. Continue Reading →

The abduction and murder in Paris of a young Jewish man by a gang of Muslim immigrants calling themselves the Barbarians shocked the whole of France in 2006. But now that the accused are on trial – silence.

A French judge has ordered the latest issue of the magazine Choc (“shock”) removed from the shelves. The cover showed a man with duct tape completely covering his head, except for a small opening around his nostrils. His His hands are also bound with duct tape.

It was a photo of Ilan Halimi, the 23-year-old Parisian Jew who was kidnapped and tortured for 24 days by the Barbarians. His captors took the picture and sent it to his family. A lawyer for Halimi’s family had complained about the magazine, but Choc’s editor-in-chief Paul Payan responded: “Of course, we understand the anguish of the parents and, of course, we share their anguish…. But what’s so harrowing is not the publication of this photo. What’s harrowing is what it represents, And it gets worse. The New York Times reported last week that “in the two and a half weeks since 27 people went on trial [in Paris] for the brutal 2006 kidnapping, torture and killing of a young Jewish man, little has filtered out about the proceedings.” Worse still, the little that has emerged indicates that French government and law enforcement have done everything in their power to obscure the Islamic Jew-hatred that led these Muslims to commit this crime.

The corrupt media, aligned with the jihad forces, has long blacked out the truth about Halimi’s homemade concentration camp and the inconceivable horrors that were suffered by this French Jew, chosen by Islam’s soldiers for unimaginable torture. They covered up the religious aspects of this depraved barbarity. Law enforcement did as well.

No one said anything about the Koran’s statement that the Jews are the Muslims’ worst enemies. No one referenced Muhammad’s words: “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say, ‘O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.'” Never was there heard anything about the Islamic tradition that says: “When judgment day arrives, Allah will give every Muslim a Jew or Christian to kill, so that the Muslim will not enter into hell fire.”

Ilan’s uncle, Rafi Halimi, reported that “the gang phoned the family on several occasions and made them listen to the recitation of verses from the Koran, while Ilan’s tortured screams could be heard in the background.”

Three weeks of unimaginable torture. Three weeks. So many clues. So many guilty animals partaking in the continuing torture in their “homemade concentration camp.” Twenty-three people participated in torturing Ilan. Another twenty were involved indirectly. The custodian of the building gave them the key to an apartment where they said they wanted to “keep someone.” French journalist Guy Millière reported that “the screams must have been loud because the torture was especially atrocious: the thugs cut bits off the flesh of the young man, they cut his fingers and ears, they burned him with acid, and in the end poured flammable liquid on him and set him on fire.” Continue Reading →

Responding to threats from the Taliban, at least 10 girls’ schools have shut down near Kunduz in northern Afghanistan. Visiting the schools is a dangerous proposition — a trip leading directly into the heart of Islamist territory.

When the deputy director of Aqtash High School talks of the government, he isn’t referring to Hamid Karzai’s central government in Kabul. Nor does he refer to the provincial administration in Kunduz. “The Taliban are our government,” Bashir says. “They have taken over our region, their commanders give the orders here.”

Bashir is standing in a dusty classroom on the ground floor of his modern school, roughly half an hour from Kunduz by car. As recently as just one month ago, he says, some 400 girls were still coming to the school in three daily shifts to learn reading, writing and arithmetic. Figures and formula are still scrawled across the blackboard.

But now, the girls’ classrooms have been left to deteriorate. The desks and chairs are still laid out in neat rows, but a film of dust has collected, and Bashir stands helplessly in the middle of the room. “Parents in Aqtash are afraid to send their girls to school anymore, after the death threats,” he explains. The school director speaks quietly and carefully. He too is afraid, and several of his teachers double as informants for the Taliban. The bearded fighters, he says, would certainly not like it if they knew a reporter was at the school in Aqtash. “You should leave quickly if you want to get out of Aqtash alive,” he whispers.

‘Apprehended and Killed’

Bashir’s warning is hardly an exaggeration. Not 30 minutes after our arrival in Aqtash, located 15 kilometers northeast of Kunduz just off the main north-south arterial, a group of a dozen Taliban fighters, armed with AK-47s, gathers in front of the blue arch at the entrance to the school. “What do you want here?” one of the fighters calls. “This is our region, the Islamic Emirate of North Afghanistan.” Continue Reading →

ATHENS, Greece — Muslim associations in Athens have filed a lawsuit against a policeman who allegedly desecrated a copy of the Koran last week, media reported on Monday (May 25th). Last Thursday, the policeman allegedly took a Koran from a customer during a police check at an Athens coffee shop, ripped it apart, threw it on the floor and stomped on it. Police say the officer did not know it was Islam’s holy book.The Pakistani community in Greece called on the government to assume responsibility for the incident and demanded an apology from authorities. The incident prompted two days of protests by hundreds of Muslims in central Athens. Violent clashes with police on Friday injured at least 14 people and damage several businesses; 46 people were arrested.

This may be the right time to announce a small project. By sometime this week I hope to have three new videos up on youtube. The question I will be asking is, what will the reaction be to these three videos, all of which will be identical in most ways yet curiously different in one.

Four men were arrested this past week for allegedly plotting a terror attack on two Bronx synagogues and an Air National Guard flight. They possessed a car load of explosives and a Stinger missile they believed to be real (fortunately, it was not).

What do the four men have in common? More than you would ever guess.

Laguerre Payen, Onta Williams, David Williams, and James Cromitie all had violent pasts. All had recently served time in an American prison or jail. Most significantly, all four men exited their prison time as Muslims.

None appears to have been born Muslim; however, the time in an American prison resulted in their embracing the supposed religion of peace, Islam.

How can this be? Very simple. For decades, Islamic groups have strategically targeted American prison populations as a fertile field for growth and as a seedbed for homegrown terrorists. What we are seeing now is merely the fruit of that missionary effort by groups like the National Islamic Prison Foundation, formerly run by a top Al-Qaeda fund-raiser who himself is now behind bars, the Islamic Assembly of North America, and the Islamic Society of North America. Much of these groups’ funding comes from Saudi Arabian proponents of Wahhabism, the most violent segment within Islam. A little-noted editorial in Investors’ Business Daily clearly articulated this threat back in 2007. This week’s arrests made that warning all the more real.

These groups’ strategy is brilliant – find the most disenchanted American residents, who already speak English and understand American culture; attract them to Islam and its most violent expressions; and then turn them loose on their own homeland. In other words, target those Americans most likely to be anti-American and then give them the philosophy and tools to live out those hostile convictions.

Shortly after the events of September 11, in the Wall Street Journal, Charles Colson noted the danger when he wrote, “Two million people occupy America’s prisons and jails today–two-thirds of whom are nonwhite. Many feel oppressed by the white power structure and sentencing disparities, which too often fall most harshly on minorities.”

So what do you get when you have terrorist groups targeting the most angry, resentful, and angry members of American society? Homegrown terrorists like Jose Padilla, the four men suspected in the Bronx plot, not to mention prison convert Richard Reid in Great Britain. The chickens have come home to roost. Muslims riot in Greece over rumor of someone mistreating Koran, and British people protest in Luton to preserve their own culture.

Which people will be maligned and denigrated as racists? The ones burning cars and throwing slabs of rock at police, or the ones asking that they be allowed to maintain their own history and values in their own historical nation?

And now, The ‘riots’ in Luton by British people. I have been to keggers more dangerous than this.

Thanks to Weasel Zippers and Shawarma Mayor who dug out the AP description of the Greek riots as a ‘march’ while the perfectly law abiding protest in Luton UK is being referred to as a riot.

Would be nice to see the evidence of the violence that caused the 9 arrests and would be interesting to compare it to the now constant riots in Sweden; Greece; France and so on which garner no arrests.

PBS on the Taliban, use of children as weapons, Islam and Pakistan

Despite this journalists wonderful detachment and staunch effort to show an even objective expose of this issue and these people, it is difficult not to notice the fear she hides when she is face to face with some young turdburger who tells her the government must treat women as plastic bags. You can see she is in immediate danger for her life if she argues the point. These people, Islam, does not debate. These are not Jews. Much of this documentary has nothing new for readers of Vlad. But there are still some shocking revelations about  how serious Islam really is in terms of illiberal values and it’s ambitions for the rest of us, and perhaps mpore interestingly, when PBS does an expose showing the horrors of Islam to this extent. you know things are bad. We expect the facts from FOX when they may not be PC. Its quite another thing when PBS calls it like it is.

A telling answer on Islam Q&A

I must say I don’t know how Grace does it. I would need (as she suggests) an antacid to read this particular Islam Questions and Answers site but I would also want at least a set of hip waders and to be frank I would prefer a full hazmat suit. Here is a Muslim religious councilor advising that it is better for a young girl to risk death at her families hands than cause them dishonor by running away. Isn’t it also odd that Muslims are always claiming that so called ‘Honor killings’ are a tribal thing and not part of Islam at all but yet its constantly referred to as an aspect of the religion.

I would be grateful if u answer my problem.my 16 year old female cousin lives currently in the us with her parents & older brother.as due to the country’s law no one can hurt her,but her family is planning to go to their homeland for a visit & she is sure that her father will hit her & her mother,as he did before,or marry her of without her consent.her father’s side of the family will do nothing & her brother joins in hitting her.i or my family can do nothing to stop this.she is so sure that they will abuse her that she plans to runaway prior to their departure,live with a female friend & never return.i told her that this is against our relegion but she wiling to take the risk of living on the street than being alone with her father.if i tell my family she will never trust me.only u can tell me what a muslim girl is to do.please reply before its to late.

It is not permissible for your cousin to run away from her family and live with another family, because that involves disobeying her parents and upsetting them and damaging their reputation. Moreover her living with a strange family will pose a great danger to her and her religious commitment.

No matter how badly she is treated by her family, that cannot compare with what she is planning to do. No woman follows this course but she goes astray and loses her religious commitment. That is the punishment for disobeying her parents that comes in this world, before the Hereafter. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Two things for which the punishment is hastened in this world: injustice and disobedience to parents.” Narrated by al-Haakim and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 2810.

She may come to regret it at the time when regret will be to no avail, when her father or mother dies angry with her.

So she must go back to her family and honour her father and treat him kindly. If he causes some annoyance let her bear it with patience and seek reward. She should understand that the fire of this world is not like the Fire of the Hereafter, and that no matter what hardships she endures in this world, if she earns the pleasure of Allaah and enters Paradise, she will indeed have succeeded, and no matter what comforts of this life she enjoys, if she then incurs the wrath of Allaah and enters His Fire, she will indeed be doomed.

She should regard the harm that her family does her as being like a sickness that cannot be warded off. She does not know, perhaps she may suffer diseases and pains that are many times worse than that harm, as a punishment for her disobedience and her living with someone other than her family.

She should strive to make du’aa’ and turn to Allaah, asking Him to guide her parents and her brother, and to help her to find a righteous husband.

If her parents insist on marrying her to someone who is not suitable for her, she may refer the matter to the sharee’ah court; the same applies if her father refuses to marry her to a compatible man who comes to propose marriage to her.

She does not have the right to arrange her own marriage without the permission of her wali (guardian). If she does that her marriage is invalid because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no marriage except with a wali.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2085; al-Tirmidhi, 1101; Ibn Maajah, 1881, from the hadeeth of Abu Moosa al-Ash’ari; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who gets married without the permission of her wali, her marriage is invalid, her marriage is invalid, her marriage is invalid. If the marriage has been consummated, the mahr is hers because she has allowed the man to be intimate with her. If there is a dispute, then the ruler is the wali of the one who has no wali.” Narrated by Ahmad, 24417; Abu Dawood, 2083; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 2709.

The point is that you should strive to advise your cousin of what we have said here. If she insists on running away from her family, you have to tell them about that, so as to prevent this great evil from happening, even if that leads to her not trusting you in the future. Denouncing evil is obligatory upon the one who is able to do it, and what you do will be good for her.

Her father should also be advised and reminded of Allaah, and warned against mistreating his children unlawfully. This is the kind of wrongdoing which will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection.

And Allaah knows best.

What is being described as a full-scale Islamist insurgency is building in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan.

Russia recently ended its decade-long “counter-terrorism operation” against separatist rebels in the neighbouring republic of Chechnya, but the fighting has spilled into other regions.

The Muslims tolerate no other religion than their own yet demand tolerance from Jews, Christians and others. The manner in which the Greeks [especially orthodox Greeks] are treated by Muslims is criminal yet ignored. Until all the facts are in, these riots are caused by nothing more than rumour. However, that is all the Muslim hordes require as an excuse to attack and burn the countries most of them are in illegally. I suddenly have the urge to lay a copy of the Koran on the back lawn and piss on it.

ATHENS (Reuters) – Greek riot police fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of Muslims who pelted them with sticks and stones outside parliament on Friday during protests over what they said was the destruction of a Koran by a Greek policeman.

The Muslim Union of Greece says that during police checks at a Syrian-owned coffee shop, an officer took a customer’s Koran, tore it up, threw it on the floor and stomped on it. Police have launched an investigation.

 

About 1,500 Muslims marched through Athens to protest against the incident, chanting “Allah is great”, carrying banners reading “Hands off immigrants” and holding up copies of Islam’s holy book. Continue Reading →

Remember the days when they used to actually say the name of the person who was arrested for a brutal crime? Despite how detailed this report is, the name of the attacker is conspicuously absent.  Whatever his name is now, I bet it’s not the one he first went into prison with.
