Somalia: Mosque Blasts Kill At Least 30
May 1, 2010
Two explosions at a mosque in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, killed at least 30 people May 1 and wounded an estimated 100 others, Reuters reported. It was the second attack this week on a mosque in Bakara Market, an area of Mogadishu dominated by members of Hizb-i-Islami and al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab, the country’s two main insurgent groups.

‘We Refuse to Be Muslims By Force’ Say Egyptian Christian Twin-Boys After Losing Court Case

(AINA)

— On March 30 an administrative judicial court in Egypt dismissed a lawsuit filed by Mrs. Camilia Lutfi, mother of the Coptic Christian twins boys Mario and Andrew, against the Interior Minister, and the director of the Civil Status Department for refusing to re-instate the Christian religion on their birth certificates, and invalidate those which were forcefully changed to “Islam” in 2005 by their father Medhat Ramsis Labib, who had converted to Islam.

After his conversion, Andrew and Mario became Muslims in what is called “Islamization by dependence,” by which children follow the religion of a converted parent (to Islam only) until they reach the age of puberty (fifteen), because Islam is “the best among all religions,” according to Egyptian Court rulings.

The purpose of Lutfi’s litigation was to restore back to her twins their identity as Christians, before reaching the age of 16 in June, when they will have their national ID cards issued. Camilia said that because of the developments in their case, her worst nightmares would materialize, in which they would have Islam as religious affiliation on their ID cards. “If they change to Christianity after that, they will be considered apostates,” she told Freecopts advocacy. She expressed her surprise at the intransigence of the judiciary in dealing with the issue of her sons, especially after they have already reached the legal age of 15-years, when they can choose their own religion. “The boys have lived this tragedy for the last ten years, through no fault of their own.”

ElYoum 7 Newspaper reported that 15-years-old Mario and Andrew were extremely disappointed with the court verdict, saying “faith is not by force, we want to remain Christians and we do not wish to become Muslims.” Both boys are practicing Christians and were consecrated last year as deacons in their regular church in Alexandria.

The court explained in its verdict, which was issued on April 14, that Camilia Lutfi has not presented a verdict from a relevant court (it did not say which court) proving the change of her sons’ religion from Islam to Christianity. “How come that when their father changed their religion from Christianity to Islam, he required no court verdict, and now that they want to revert back to Christianity, the court requires a verdict?” she told Freecopts. The Price is Right

by Baron Bodissey

“It is a scandal that the bartering of a girl can go unnoticed in the middle of Germany.”

Here’s the latest news from modern multicultural Germany. The article below is from Friday’s Der Spiegel, and was kindly translated for Gates of Vienna by JLH:

Bride-Price in Berlin

April 23, 2010

Interview by Anna Reiman

Without a Doubt, This Is Trade In Human Beings

Parents of Kurdish origin are said to have sold their 15-year-old daughter to the family of her future husband for €15,500. An active practice right in the middle of Germany, explains women’s rights expert Myria Böhmeke in a Spiegel-Online interview.

Spiegel: Mrs. Böhmeke, it is said that in Berlin, after the conclusion of the marriage contract, Kurdish parents sold their daughter, Jasmin, to the husband’s family for €15,500. Since then, the 15-year-old, who is pregnant, has separated from her husband. He is said to have beaten her. Is it an exception for Muslim families in Germany to pay a bride price?
Böhmeke: No, in my experience it is not unusual. Exact figures are difficult to develop, because the girls who are forced into marriage and register with “terre des femmes” often do not know whether money was paid or not. The groom’s family pays the money for, among other things, the loss of a worker in the family.
Spiegel: Can the bride price be of any use to the woman, if, for instance, she leaves her husband?
Böhmeke: Originally, the bride price was thought of as a security for the woman, in case of a separation. The women often bought jewelry with it. Since then, it has frequently benefited the family.
Spiegel: Berlin SPD politician, Bilkay Öney, claims to be shocked by Jasmin’s case. She says: “Buying a bride is taboo in Europe. I don’t care to think about anything like that. That doesn’t even exist in Turkey.” Is this a realistic judgment?
Böhmeke: Completely false. Forced marriages are still widespread in Turkey. And frequently money changes hands. Underage girls are often married, even though it is forbidden in Turkey as in Germany. In such cases, the marriage contract is executed in a religious framework. As soon as the girl is of age, the “official” marriage takes place. And payment does not just take place in the Islamic societies. There is also often a substantial money payment in India.
Spiegel: Jasmin’s family seems to be well integrated. Her father is with the fire department and her brother is a policeman. That seems to make the case so much more incomprehensible.
Böhmeke: No. There is not necessarily a connection between current indicators of integration and consciousness of women’s rights. It often happens that girls who call “terre des femmes” for help appear to be models of integration, speak perfect German, and go to school.

Canada: Muslim woman fears acid attack reprisal

From The Toronto Sun

Muslim woman fears reprisal

Claims death threats for working in men’s hair salon

By TOM GODFREY, Toronto Sun

Last Updated: April 22, 2010 5:21pm

A Muslim woman fighting to stay in Canada fears being disfigured with acid for allegedly “bringing shame” to her ex-husband’s family in Pakistan by leaving him and travelling here to work in a hair salon frequented by men.

Roohi Tabassum, 45, of Brampton, said corrosive acid is thrown in the faces of women in Pakistan and other Islamic countries to disfigure them because they have allegedly “shamed” their families.

Tabassum said there have been two incidents the past month in Pakistan where women’s faces were burned with acid by assailants who fled.

“I don’t leave the house or go anywhere because I am scared,” she said. “Sometimes the women are also disabled, burned or tortured.”

Tabassum claims family members in Pakistan are still receiving threats from ex-husband, Faisal Javed, who has threatened to kill her.

“He (ex-husband) is determined to have me killed or crippled,” she said. “I am very concerned for myself.”

Tabassum entered Canada from the U.S. in 2001 and filed a failed refugee claim. She faces deportation to the U.S., and then to Pakistan, which is under appeal before an Immigration and Refugee Board.

She claimed Javed is angered because she works in a salon that styles men’s hair and suspects she has a boyfriend, which she denies.

Her lawyer Max Berger said 1,200 to 1,500 women were killed in 2007 from honour killings in Pakistan, according to U.S. Department of State statistics.

“This is a very legitimate concern that she has,” Berger said. “These type of honour killings or attacks are not uncommon in Pakistan.”

He successfully obtained refugee status for a Pakistani woman 10 years ago who had “half her face burned in an acid attack” due from bringing shame to a family.

Tarek Fatah, of the Muslim Canadian Congress, said acid attacks against women do occur and can be for a disgracing a family.

“Women are at the bottom of the rung of the ladder in this culture,” Fatah said. “We just cannot dismiss her claim outright.”

Police and immigration officials are not aware of an acid attack against a woman in Canada.

Holland: MPs call for emergency debate on Islam conference

Wednesday 21 April 2010 Dutch News Nl H/T GOV

MPs have called for an emergency debate with justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin about a debate on the future of Islam in the Netherlands, due to take place at the end of May, the Telegraaf reports.

According to the Telegraaf, MPs are concerned about the involvement of a organization known as the Muslim Brotherhood in the conference.

According to the Dutch security service AIVD, the brotherhood strives to encourage European Muslims to adopt an ultra orthodox version of Islam in which Islam determines all aspects of life.

The aim of the conference, entitled Islam in Holland – Meditating on the Present and Future Horizons, is to encourage ‘positive methodological dialogue between Muslims and Dutch political, intellectual and religious activists, hoping to clarify opinions and remove misunderstandings around controversial or critical issues’ according to the organisers.

South Park creators truly worthy of respect.

Kurt Westergaard in my view is a hero. Not because he drew the Moetoon, that was his job and he had no clue what was to happen as a result. But because he wears the mantle of free speech martyr with great dignity and courage every day. I have met Kurt Westergaard and my impression of him, is of an unusually decent man who admires the arts and good things civilization offers and would like to live his life in pretty much any way other than he does as a  result of the Islamic worlds irrational and dare I say, somewhat arbitrary rage at his drawings.

Mr. Westergaard did not attempt to placate Islam or its adherents. He stoically spoke out in countless interviews and in many countries on the importance of free speech. He continues to live under very difficult conditions when, like Salman Rushdie, perhaps he could have kowtowed to Islam and won a sort of freedom at the expense of his principles.

This makes him a hero in that his actions led to hard choices and he made the best one for all of us, yet the most difficult for himself.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone however knew exactly what they where getting into when they did the 200th episode-anniversary show a chunk of which is below.

As you can see, Matt Stone and Trey Parker ask some perhaps less than obvious but very important questions. If it is forbidden to show an image of Mohamed, then what constitutes an image? Is a line with a circle on top OK? What about if it is a drawing within a drawing like we draw a big bear and say it is a costume within which, is a drawing of Mohamed. In the interview below, both these men quite clearly explain that one must not change principles because one group threatens you. Either it is OK to criticize irrational religious belief, or it is not. And this makes them heroes in my book.

Lastly, here is the all too predictable Muslim Outrage video over even the non-showing of Mohamed in the South Park episode. It is the usual crap but is clearly a threat on the lives of the creators of South park. Skip it if you want.

One last thing that really needs saying, South Park did an episode before the Danish Cartoon where they actually did show Mohamed as the religious leader with the power of flame. There was no reaction to it at all even though that episode probably reached thousands of times more people than the Danish cartoons ever would have, had it not been for the reaction to them.

This shows you that this has nothing to do with religious sensitivities, but to a growing political threat by Islam to the west. That Muslims are to set the agenda for what is OK for us to say, do, eat and think and how we live and not ourselves. Not that this changes anything. If it was about religious sacred imagery I would still say and do still say that the most important right civilization has, is to mock irrational religious authority. However this isn’t the real issue here. It is about control. History from the Super Best Friends episode of South park, to the Danish cartoons episode, to now prove that out.

*****   Addendum *****

It would appear that youtube removed the video threatening the lives of the men who created South park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I understand completely why they did it. Youtube AKA Google cannot let itself be seen as the vector for death threats. Even so, while sympathetic, I think its equally important that we, the rest of us, be able to expose the mentality in the interest of eradicating it. So you will have to be satisfied with a description as to what was on the video. basically, some opening graphix to show they do quality video work, then on to the usual jihadi ‘we want to kill you all’ music which is the only allowable kind in Islam save for the piercing shrill nauseating call to prayer from the minarets that Obama likes so much.

Then, it goes on to show stills of the people who have been killed by various Muslims for doing things Muslims don’t like and the faces of people they want to kill, which now contain the faces of the ‘Toon twins’.

It wasn’t great viewing. But it was there.

***** Addendum two *****

Here is a great video about this whole issue. featuring Ayaan Hirsi Ali H/T Liberties Alliance

David G. Littman at the UN HRC. Stunning expose of the UN

Here is a rather amazing bit of video showing the depth of corruption of the UN-HRC, and the extent to which the OIC (organization of the Islamic Conference) basically runs an extortion racket at the UN with threats, and of course, subversion of the democratic process through voting blocks of totalitarian and Muslim states.

This is about 22 minutes, but worth watching more than once. As the guy who edited this video, I have now seen it probably a dozen times or more and each time I find something else in it which is quite startling. Littman is a brave and tenacious man for being able to deal with these people on an ongoing basis.

There is of course, a great deal of information about these exchanges which I could not possibly put in the video or it would be more of a book than a movie. So David G. Littman has written up some of the additional information in essay form.

The section where you do not hear Egypt, was redacted. We managed to get the transcription and put what he said back in. But what he did say, that he didn’t care about the results of any vote but that a discussion of sharia law was not going to happen, was such a flagrant sign of Islamic supremacy, that even he realized he should remove it from the official record.

All in all, the UN-HRC is so broken, that it should be closed down as clearly is it beyond repair. John McCain was right when he suggested abandoning the UN and creating a new thing with the G8 + India and Brazil.

The essay is below the fold:

Southpark moves from profound to heroic

I have always felt that South Park offered some of the best social commentary on TV. Now, the creators and writers Mat Stone and Trey Parker have dared ask the un-ask-able questions in the current episode of South park. If you draw a line with a circle on top and call it Mohamed, is that ok? What if it is a drawing of a bear suit and you claim a drawing of Mohamed is inside of it? Does that cause or justify Muslim rage?

When I saw this episode, I felt like my office had been bugged as I asked several of the same questions to my colleagues since the Moe-Toon riots (no relation to Mo-town records) including at what level of abstraction is a drawing of Mohamed sufficiently representative to be called a drawing?

It is interesting, as Diana West notes, that no one seems to be talking about it.

Fox Reports: “Retribution” Could Be Coming to South Park, Updated

Apr 20

Written by: Diana West

Cartoon: Mohammed is the one in the bear suit.

—

Have been meaning to post about a sicko Islamic death threat video about “South Park” founders Matt Stone and Trey Parker, with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Theo van Gogh, Salman Rushdie, Geert Wilders, Kurt Westergaard and Lars Vilks rounding out the cast of those similarly targeted for “offending” Islam, even as I have been simultaneously monitoring the reluctance (read: fear) of the MSM to report the story, period.

Imagine: Mega-star animators Stone & Parker are threatened with death by jihadists for their “South Park” cartoon satirizing Mohammed for being off limits to mockery (to the point, in the cartoon, where both redheads or “gingers” and celebrities all want some of what he’s got), and the MSM, most of it, wants to pretend nothing is happening.

It’s happening, whether clean shaven in Geneva, or in beards in Brooklyn.

By “it” I mean submission to Islam.

And what to make of this Fox News headline on the story?

‘South Park’ Creators Could Face Retribution for Depicting Muhammad, Website Warns

“Retribution”???? My Webster’s tells me retribution means “1. deserved punishment for evil done, or, sometimes, reward for good done; merited requital. 2. in theology, reward or punishment in another life for things done in this.

Did News Corp stakeholder,  Saudi scion, and Murdoch crony Prince Talal bin Alwaleed write the headline?

Updated: Even if it is the “website” that “warns” of retribution, Fox needs at the very least the padding of quotation marks around “retribution” to put some needed distance between it and them.

Animals running the zoo in New Zealand.

Although this is not that new a story, one can safely conclude that things are worse, not better there. If such a small percentage of Muslims in jails can make and achieve this kind of demands, then what have they achieved since with a larger percentage of the non-prison population?

Halal-Certified Meat in NZ Prisons

An old article, October 8th 2009, but relevant nonetheless.

Original article here.

Few Muslim inmates but jails buy only halal meat

All 8500 prisoners in the New Zealand prison system eat halal-certified meat, despite only 82 prisoners identifying themselves as Muslim.

For a meat processor to be halal-certified, meat must be slaughtered by Muslims and cannot be contaminated by alcohol or pig products.

Corrections rehabilitation general manager Phil McCarthy confirmed, in response to an Official Information Act request, that the department had bought meat from a halal-accredited supplier since 2005.
Mr McCarthy said the department had a national supply agreement with Napier-based Bay Cuisine.
After a 2004 national menu review, it was decided tenderers for the meat contract needed to have halal certification.

It did not cost the department more to buy food from a halal-credited supplier, despite extra costs linked to certification.

New Zealand Islamic Meat Management and the Federation of Islamic Associations provide halal certification in New Zealand.

A federation spokesman said it cost up to $2000 for a processing firm to be halal-certified. The premises were then checked by a supervisor about every fortnight. The certification was also renewed every year.
Mr McCarthy said when providing food the department made allowances “as far as practicable in the circumstances” for the religious and spiritual needs of prisoners. Continue Reading →

CAIR scores. freedom of speech loses.

The Irony is sick. If anything CAIR said in this article was true, then they would not have felt the need to have these adds pulled. They would instead say, ‘Yes, there are some people who misinterpret Islam based on tribal rules and those people should have a place to go or call if such a threat is issued’. What are the chances of hearing that from CAIR?

No, they out and out lied about Islam while simultaneously proving the truth of these adds. If you want to even talk about leaving Islam, large, well funded and influential groups will stop you.

Miami-Dade Transit to remove `offensive’ Islamic bus ads

BY JAWEED KALEEM

jk*****@*********ld.com

Miami-Dade Transit is pulling advertisements from 10 buses that South Florida Muslims have said are offensive to Islam.

The ads, which went up Tuesday, said “Fatwa on your head? Is your community or family threatening you?” and directed Muslims to a website encouraging them to leave Islam.

Robert Spencer, associate director of New York-based Stop the Islamization of America, which purchased the ads for one-month as the first leg of a national campaign, said they were “offered in defense of religious liberty.”

But on Thursday, Miami-Dade Transit spokeswoman Karla Damian said that after reviewing the ads, the department decided they “may be offensive to Islam” and would remove them before the buses ran on Friday.

Damian said the ads were able to initially go up because Miami-Dade Transit has an outside company sell ad space and does not routinely review ads before they run.

The South Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations had critiqued the ads as promoting “bigotry” and making false statements about Islam.

“Islam guarantees freedom to and freedom from religion. . . . [We] reject as un-Islamic any extremist interpretation that sanctions the killing of any individual because she decided to `leave Islam,” said director Muhammed Malik.

Canadian takes on Islamist movement

By Salim Mansur, QMI Agency from The Edmonton Sun

Point de bascule, or the tipping point, is a Montreal-based French language webmagazine. It is dedicated to explore and expose Islamist activities in our midst, particularly in Quebec.

Point de bascule is the creation of Marc Lebuis, a remarkable French-Canadian with a passionate interest in global affairs and adeep concern about the dangers of Islamism to his country.

Last Thursday, Point de bascule held a press conference open to the mainstream media and public to discuss the latest lecture tour of Tariq Ramadan in Montreal and Ottawa sponsored by Islamist organizations, such as the various chapters of the Muslim Association of Canada, for fundraising purposes.

In making full disclosure here, I was invited by Marc Lebuis to join four other individuals in exploring the ramifications for us of the transnational political movement that Tariq Ramadan represents, and how Quebec is exceedingly vulnerable in the systematic penetration of Canada by Islamists.

Joining me were Tarek Fatah, the well-known author and journalist from Toronto, and Ariless Bouktit, a Canadian of Algerian origin. By webcast Zuhdi Jasser from the U.S. and Naser Khader from Denmark joined us in Montreal.

Retired officer

Jasser is of Syrian-Arab origin and a retired officer from the U.S. Navy practising medicine in Arizona. Khader is also of Syrian-Arab origin and a member of the Danish parliament. All five of us are of Muslim faith.

Tariq Ramadan is the grandson of Hasan al-Banna (1906-49), the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. MB is the oldest and most powerful Islamist organization in the Arab world with deep pockets — resources donated by followers and petrodollar rulers in the Middle East. Continue Reading →
