Carter honored by Palestinians

MIDEAST ISRAEL PALESTINIANS CARTER

from the Associated Press

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was honored by the Palestinian government Saturday and pledged to support the Palestinians’ campaign for independence to the end of his days.

In his acceptance speech, Carter urged the Palestinians to end their internal divisions and stop persecuting their rivals.

He was referring to the growing rift between the Islamic militant Hamas group, which controls Gaza, and Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in charge of the West Bank. Each side has been cracking down on the other’s supporters, particularly since Hamas violently overran Gaza two years ago.

Carter met with Hamas’ exiled leadership in Syria on Thursday and is to head to Gaza on Sunday, after meeting with Israeli officials. Carter has said peace between Israel and the Palestinians is impossible without involving Hamas, but reiterated in Syria that he was not representing the Obama administration.

Hamas is being shunned by most of the international community, including the U.S., for refusing to recognize Israel or renounce violence, though Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal has said repeatedly in recent weeks that his group wants to be part of a Mideast solution.

In the West Bank, Carter was awarded the Palestine International Award for Excellence and Creativity. Previous recipients included two former international envoys, James Wolfensohn and Peter Hansen.

Carter brokered the Israeli-Egypt peace accord of 1979 and several years ago wrote a book, “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid,” that is sharply critical of Israeli policies in the occupied territories.

“I have been in love with the Palestinian people for many years,” he said Saturday, adding that this is a feeling shared by members of his family.

“I have two great-grandsons that are rapidly learning about the people here and the anguish and suffering and deprivation of human rights that you have experienced ever since 1948,” he said.

Referring to President Barack Obama’s call for an Israeli settlement freeze, Carter said that “in the future, I am sure, he will call for the dismantling of the settlements that exist.”

But he noted that Obama also called for an end to violence against Israelis and for Arab acceptance of Israelis’ right to their own nation. Carter said such acceptance is painful for displaced Palestinians, but that “there has to be an accommodation in the political world.”

Carter, 85, pledged his “assistance, as long as I live, to win your freedom, your independence, your sovereignty and a good life.”

Chechen Muslim points to ringleader

BBC NEWS-  Two police officers have been killed and two others wounded in a series of attacks in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan, officials say.

In the first incident, a police major was shot in the head while on his way to work in the capital, Makhachkala.

Another officer who had taken part in an operation to arrest gunmen suspected of killing a policeman three days ago later died in a gun battle in the city.

Police chief Shamil Guseinov said two militants involved were then shot dead.

Overnight, two other policemen were wounded when their car was attacked by gunmen on a road in Dagestan.

The Caucasus republic has long been plagued by violence often linked to Muslim separatist rebels in neighbouring Chechnya.

Last week, Dagestan’s Interior Minister, Adilgerei Magomedtagirov, was shot dead at a wedding reception in Makhachkala.

The leader of the Jamaat Shariat rebel group on Thursday issued a statement on its website claiming responsibility for the killing.

“We carried out a special operation to annihilate God’s worst enemy and one of the leaders of blasphemy in Dagestan,” said Ibragim Gadzhidadayev, who is wanted for the murder of a Dagestani MP.

U.S. Lawmaker Says Obama Administration Ordered FBI to Read Rights to Detainees

FOX NEWS  A senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee is accusing the Obama administration of quietly ordering the FBI to start reading Miranda rights to suspected terrorists at U.S. military detention facilities in Afghanistan.

The move is reportedly creating chaos in the field among the CIA, FBI and military personnel, according to Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich. The soldiers, especially, he says, are frustrated that giving high value detainees Miranda rights — the right to remain silent, the right to an attorney — is impeding their ability to pursue intelligence on the battlefield, according to a story first reported by the Weekly Standard.

“What I found was lots of confusion and very frustrated people on the front lines who are trying to, well, make Afghanistan successful for the United States and its allies,” said Rogers, who serves on the House Intelligence Committee.

Rogers, a former FBI special agent who served in the U.S. Army, just returned from Afghanistan and a visit to Bagram Air Base, where he said the rights are being read. Continue Reading →

CTV NEWS-ALBERTA

A woman claiming to be Amanda Lindhout, a freelance Canadian journalist being held hostage in Somalia, called CTV’s National newsroom Wednesday afternoon, appearing to be reading from a statement in which she says she fears dying in captivity and pleads with the Canadian government to help bring her home.
“I’ve been held hostage by gunmen in Somalia for nearly 10 months. I’m in a desperate situation, I’m being kept in a dark, windowless room in chains, without any clean drinking water and little or no food. I’ve been very sick for months without any medicine,” she told CTV News.

She said she’s in need of “immediate aid” and begs the Canadian government to help her family to pay her ransom. “Without it, I will die here,” she said.
“I also tell them that they must deal directly with these people, (for) my life depends on it.”

Lindhout is a freelance print and television journalist from Sylvan Lake, Alta. Continue Reading →

Al Qaeda Commander Strapped for Cash, Asks Turkish Muslims to Send Money

They then asked if anyone had George Galloways home phone number.

I’m sure Turkey will respond generously

CAIRO  —  Al Qaeda’s top commander in Afghanistan urged Turkish Muslims in a new audio message Wednesday to send money to militants fighting coalition troops in the country, saying they are low on funds.

Mustafa Abu al-Yazeed said many militants in Afghanistan are unable to fight because they lack the necessary equipment.

“And we, here in Afghanistan, are needy of money,” said al-Yazeed. “And the reason for the weakness of the operations here is the inadequacy of equipment.”

The authenticity of the audio message could not be verified, but it appeared on Web sites often used by Al Qaeda.

Experts believe Islamic militants in Afghanistan receive most of their funding from wealthy donors and charities in the oil-rich Gulf and from the illegal drug trade inside the country.

The U.S. has tried to crack down on those funding sources by urging Gulf governments to better police the flows of money and by engaging in counter-narcotic operations inside Afghanistan.

President Barack Obama plans to send thousands of additional troops to Afghanistan this year in an effort to reverse the momentum of Al Qaeda and Taliban militants

Mohammed Mansour Jabarah, of St. Catharine’s, Ont. in a photo was taken at Niagara Falls in April, 2002, just before he went to the U.S. to cooperate with the FBI.

A Canadian serving a life sentence in the United States for terrorism is being force-fed through the nose after going on a hunger strike, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Mohammed Mansour Jabarah has refused to eat since mid-April and prison officials are allegedly pumping food into his stomach using a tube inserted in his nose.

The convicted al-Qaeda terrorist is protesting restrictions on his mail, his lawyer said, but his father said Jabarah and other Muslim inmates also want to pray together.

The U.S. Bureau of Prisons declined to comment for privacy reasons. Prison officials can intervene when a hunger striker’s life is at risk but the force-feeding of inmates is controversial.

“They shove a tube up your nose down into your throat,” said Kenneth Paul, the lawyer who represented Jabarah at his trial in New York. “It’s like torture.” Continue Reading →

Muslims attacking East Indians in Australia?

[kaltura-widget wid=”2p30m7ffbk” width=”410″ height=”364″ addpermission=”3″ editpermission=”3″ /]When I first saw this story a few weeks ago I wondered why the media reporting was leaving out the ethnicity of the attackers. I was wondering why the public would be left to use their imagination as to why a bunch of white  Australian men were all of a sudden turning on Indian students. As usual the media is keeping the public misinformed by only reporting part of the story. Although this next story is more of the same it does tease us with some of the facts. So I will let the reader make up their own mind. Mine was about 90% made up 2 weeks ago. Today it is 99.9%.

from BBC

Police in Sydney, Australia, had to be called to Harris Park suburb on Monday night to quell an angry crowd, provoked by two new alleged attacks on Indians.

An Indian man in his 20s was allegedly set upon by a group of men of Middle Eastern appearance, and another Indian was injured in a separate attack. At least 200 Indian men then gathered, shouting demands for “justice”.

The latest incidents come after several attacks on Indians, which the government denies are racist.

Meet America’s first Muslim

An essay by Paul Williams CFP

prophet-noble-drew-ali-smlTimothy Drew (a.k.a. Noble Drew Ali)
In his speech before the University of Cairo, President Barack Obama said that Islam “has always been part of America’s story,‚” adding that Muslims have “enriched‚” the United States since the time of its founding.

Mr. Obama’s statement raises a question that few historians, let alone elected officials, have raised in the past.

Who was the first American Muslim?

Some maintain that this forgotten figure was a Moorish slave who was transported to South Carolina in 1587? This is problematic since not one scintilla of historical evidence can be used to support this assertion.

Historical evidence, however, does exist to show that Ayuiba Suleiman Diallo and Omar ibn Said were transported to the New World as slaves in 1731. But this evidence also shows that these slaves were returned to Africa in 1734.

A few Muslim writers maintain that America’s first Muslim was a Native American named Mahomet. The basis of this claim is that the name of Mahomet bears a resemblance to the name of the Prophet of Allah. The same argument, of course, could be employed to establish that Mahomet was a Mahican or a Mahayana.

If Mahomet doesn’t qualify, others argue, the title must belong to Peter Salem, a former slave who fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill. This noble figure, we are told, must have been a Muslim since “Salem‚” bears an etymological resemblance to “Salaam,‚” the Arabic word for peace. Such arguments could be used more convincingly to contend that this stalwart figure’s home was Salem, Massachusetts.

When all attempts fail to produce one believing Muslim who lived in colonial America, Islamic revisionists turn to legend and the story “Old Tom,‚” a 19th century slave on a Georgia plantation, who purportedly proclaimed on his death-bed: “Allah is God and Muhammad is his prophet.‚”

Of course, there isn’t documentation to show that “Old Tom the Mohammadan‚” ever lived, let alone uttered shahadah being giving up the ghost.

Who was America’s first Muslim?

INTRODUCING TIMOTHY DREW

Islam did not arrive in the New World with a boatload of black slaves or Muslim missionaries. It did not emerge from the cotton fields or the halls of ivy. Islam made its first appearance in the form of Timothy Drew, an African American conman and two-bit snake oil salesman, who popped up on a street corner in Newark, New Jersey circa 1910 as the “Savior Prophet of Allah.‚” Continue Reading →

Where’s the heart Obama?

the_purple_heart-749247

Army Pvt. William Long died from a bullet fired from a self described enemy of the United States. I only hope that Americans demand both he and Pvt. Quinton I. Ezeagwula receive proper military honors in the form of a purple heart. The only difference between these two soldiers and the rest of the fine men and women fighting Islamic fanatics overseas, is that the enemy came to them. I urge Americans not to let Obamas politically correct stance on Islam overshadow this most recent terrorist attack on Americans.

 The Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the President of the United States to any member of an Armed Force who, while serving with the U.S. Armed Services after 5 April 1917, has been wounded or killed, or who has died or may hereafter die after being wounded;

           (1) In any action against an enemy of the United States;

           (2) In any action with an opposing armed force of a foreign country in which the Armed Forces of the United States are or have been engaged;

           (3) While serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party;

           (4) As a result of an act of any such enemy of opposing armed forces;

           (5) As the result of an act of any hostile foreign force;

           (6) After 28 March 1973, as a result of an international terrorist attack against the United States or a foreign nation friendly to the United States, recognized as such an attack by the Secretary of the department concerned, or jointly by the Secretaries of the departments concerned if persons from more than one department are wounded in the attack; or,

           (7) After 28 March 1973, as a result of military operations, while serving outside the territory of the United States as part of a peacekeeping force.

           (8) After 7 December 1941, by weapon fire while directly engaged in armed conflict, regardless of the fire causing the wound.

           (9) While held as a prisoner of war or while being taken captive.

       b. A wound for which the award is made must have required treatment by a medical officer.

Israelis ‘thwarted Gaza horse bomb attack’

Senior Hamas leader, Ismail Haniya, said the incident was confirmation that Israel’s “aggressive intentions” continued, and accused Israel of not respecting the cease fire. ??? Yes, how dare the Israelis defend themselves. All these good Muslims wanted was to emulate their Jew slaughtering prophet in a manner reminiscent of the calvary charges on defenceless Jewish tribes in the past. Apparently the Israelis did not realize they were to lay down and die. Blame it all on a lack of communication I think.

Four Palestinian militants have been killed on Gaza’s border as Israeli forces fired at what they said were men and horses carrying explosives.

The Israeli military said its forces returned fire at a group including a few men wearing explosive vests and five horses loaded with explosives.

Israel said the Palestinians opened fire and tried to plant bombs near a crossing on the Gaza-Israel border.

Palestinian officials said about 10 gunmen were involved in the incident.

The Palestinian health ministry, which is run by the Hamas movement that controls Gaza, confirmed that four fighters were killed in the shooting.

Israeli forces fired on the militants with machine guns and tanks backed up with combat helicopters, the military said

There were no Israeli casualties in the incident, which took place north of Nahal Oz, the main terminal for transferring fuel into Gaza.

Nahal Oz and the nearby Karni crossing, used for transferring grain and animal feed, were closed in the wake of the incident.

It is one of the worst clashes since Israel’s three-week operation in Gaza in December and January.

Both Israel and the Hamas movement, which controls the Gaza Strip, declared unilateral ceasefires in the wake of the fighting.

Senior Hamas leader, Ismail Haniya, said the incident was confirmation that Israel’s “aggressive intentions” continued, and accused Israel of not respecting the cease fire.

Although Gaza has been relatively quiet since Israel’s three-week offensive against Hamas ended on 18 January, the border is a flashpoint for sporadic violence.

Gag Order Issued in Army Recruiter Shooting Case

One has to wonder why this case, which has received so little coverage already, will now receive none. I guess the Americans are worried that openly discussing the facts in this case might offend the Muslim community. The same Muslim community that supplied the religious teachings responsible for this American citizen to become a Jihadist. Muhammad’s lawyer will try to convince the courts he was indoctrinated to hate during his two week incarceration in Yemen. When in fact he was turned here in America and went to Yemen to meet, greet and support Jihadist there.

[I would like to add a weird thought of my own. It seems to me that this soldier should get a full military funeral for death in action. Clearly he deserves one and not to give him one would be a crime. However, if he does get one, it would be de facto admission that the USA is at war WITH ISLAM. Now this would make a fool of Obama and waste a lot of time he spent on his reach out to the Muslim world tour, but there seems no way out of this one to me. Eeyore for Vlad]

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. —  A judge has issued a gag order in the capital murder case against the man accused of killing one soldier and wounding another at a military recruiting office in Arkansas.

Judge Alice Lightle issued the order Monday after prosecutors requested it to block court officials and police from discussing the case.

Jim Hensley, attorney for suspect Abdulhakim Muhammad, said last week his client was influenced by hardened terrorists with whom he was jailed in Yemen.

Muhammad allegedly wanted to kill as many soldiers as he could because of harm he believed the military has done to Muslims.

Killed at the west Little Rock office was Army Pvt. William Long of Conway, who had just completed basic training and never saw combat.

Group Linked to Al Qaeda May Have Killed Minnesota Man Recruited in Somalia

From the “serves you right” files comes this. At least this story will remind Americans that Muslim fanatics are actively recruiting U.S. citizens to join forces with those groups that are or support and collude with enemies of the state.

SOMALIA MILITIA

Mike Irvine FOX NEWS  A Minnesota man recruited to join an Al Qaeda-linked terrorist group overseas may have been assassinated in Somalia by the very terrorist group he went there to help.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been investigating for several months at least 20 Somali-American men from the Minneapolis area who recently traveled to Somalia to train with the terrorist group al-Shabaab.

One of those men — 17-year-old Burhan Hassan — was killed in Mogadishu on Friday, his uncle, Osman Ahmed, told FOX News.

“Someone who claimed (to be) a member of al-Shabaab called Burhan’s mom Friday (afternoon) and said Burhan died Friday morning,” Ahmed said. “Burhan’s mom got shocked and (threw) the phone when she heard the story.”

“Al-Shabaab assassinated Burhan and shot (him in) the head,” the individual said, according to Ahmed.

A law enforcement official told FOX News on Sunday that one of the Somali-American men was recently killed in Somalia by artillery fire, but the official declined to release the man’s name. Continue Reading →

Villagers fight Taliban after Pakistan mosque blast

By Kamran Haider

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) – Villagers in northwest Pakistan have attacked Taliban militants killing seven of them in revenge for a bomb attack on a mosque that killed at least 40 people, a top government official and residents said on Sunday.

It was the latest in a series of instances of people turning their guns on the Taliban in recent weeks and trying to force them out of their areas and will encourage the Pakistani government which needs public support to defeat the militants.

The United States, which needs sustained Pakistani action to help defeat al Qaeda and cut off militant support for the insurgency in Afghanistan, will also be heartened by the move.

The Pakistani military has been battling Taliban in the Swat valley, northwest of the capital, for more than a month after the militants took advantage of a peace pact to gain new ground.

The army offensive has broad public support even though many in Pakistan are ambivalent about the Taliban and are wary of the government’s close alliance with the United States.

Taliban militants have also launched a string of bomb attacks in response to the military offensive and are suspected of being behind a suicide bomb attack on a mosque in the Upper Dir region, near Swat, that killed about 40 people on Friday.

After the blast, enraged villagers formed a militia, known as a lashkar, of about 500 men to expel the militants from the area, said the top government official in the region. Continue Reading →
