Serial blasts rock Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya

GAYA: Nine serial explosions rocked the Mahabodhi Temple complex in Bodh Gaya on Sunday morning, leaving at least five people injured.

Union home secretary Anil Goswami confirmed that the Bodh Gaya blasts were a terror attack.

According to Gaya Police, the blasts took place in quick succession between 5.30 am and 6 am in the temple complex and near the Mahabodhi tree.

While four blasts took place inside the Mahabodhi Temple complex, three occurred in Karmapa monastery, one each near near the 80-ft Buddha statue and at the bus stand near bypass, DIG Magadh range Nayyer Hussnain Khan said.

Arvind Singh, a member of Mahabodhi Temple Management Commitee said two other bombs, one near the 80 feet statue and one at bus stand have been defused.

Fire at St Andrew’s Church, Twyford, possible ‘hate crime’

A suspected arson attack at a church is being investigated by police as a possible hate crime.

It is thought a rare Bible was thrown on to the fire which was started in the vestry of St Andrew’s Church, in Twyford, Derbyshire, on Wednesday.

Damage estimated at £5,000 was caused and church warden Anne Bennett said the congregation found it very distressing.

A 23-year-old man, from Allestree, was arrested in connection with the blaze and has since been released on bail.

Turks came to Germany as ‘guest workers’. They were supposed to provide some “necessary cheap labor” and then leave. But it didn’t work out that way.

And the topic has obvious implications for our own Gang of 8?s guest worker plan, which is going to lead to non-workers bankrupting the social welfare system even further.

Three million Turks live already in Germany already, while 2.5 million of them have German nationality, and the majority of them are conservative Muslims.

Very few Turks in Germany have a regular job; about 20%. The other 80% live on the so-called Hartz IV (state social benefits). 70% of their children have no GCSE; they left school before they finished their basic education.

State Department Considering Talks to Transfer Blind Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman to Egypt, Source Says

The U.S. State Department is actively considering negotiations with the Egyptian government for the transfer of custody of Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as “the Blind Sheikh,” for humanitarian and health reasons, a source close to the the Obama administration told TheBlaze.

The Department of Justice, however, told TheBlaze that Rahman is serving a life sentence and is not considered for possible “release.”  Previous calls to the State Department were referred to the Department of Justice and so far, the State Department has neither confirmed nor denied the report.

Glenn Beck revealed the controversial news on his show Monday.

The Blind Sheikh is currently serving a life sentence in American prison for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, but the newly-elected Islamist government in Egypt has been actively petitioning his release.  Many have pinpointed a cause of last week‘s unrest in in the country to be protests over the Blind Sheikh’s release — not an anti-Muslim YouTube video.

Yesterday I posted about how Muslim thugs in Berlin were promising revenge after a German man they were attacking stabbed one of them to death.

These are pictures from the dead Muslim’s funeral procession. There were shouts of “Allahu Akbhar!” As PI noted, these photographs could have come from the Gaza Strip.

On police advice, the German man who killed the Muslim in self-defence has moved out of the area with his family to stay with relatives.

Australians to be healed from ‘Islamophobia’ by head of global Islamic organisation
Sunday, February 12, 2012 – Q Society of Australia Inc.

This week Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has invited Professor Ekmelledin Ihsanoglu[sic], the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to discuss “Transition and Change: The OIC and the Islamic World”

Events take place on February 15th and 16th at the National Press Club of Australia and at Griffith University, Brisbane. Following similar events in Europe and Washington, Mr Rudd’s visitor is here to educate and help us overcome “Islamophobia” in Australia.

The OIC, which represents 56 Islamic states, makes up the largest voting bloc of the UN.

United in their effort to limit critical discussion of the Islamic religion and sharia law, these countries refuse to sign the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. OIC members construed the ‘Cairo Declaration’, in which human rights are subject to interpretation by Islamic clergy and sharia law. The OIC is headquartered in Saudi Arabia, a feudal monarchy renown for violation of basic human rights under strict sharia law.

The feigned concern of the OIC with discrimination against Islam and more notably views not supportive of Islam is in contrast to the violent intolerance experienced by non-Muslim minorities in many Islamic countries. Indigenous religious minorities, which are not afforded the same respect, recognition or equality demanded by the OIC for Muslim immigrants in the West.

Author and human rights activist Ayan Hirsi Ali ‘s recent article ‘The Global War on Christians in the Muslim World’ highlights “… an unrecognised battle costing thousands of lives.” With these facts in mind, there are serious questions democratic governments should be asking the OIC, before taking advice from Professor Ihsanoglu.

Q Society appeals to Mr Rudd to show courage and openly address this discrepancy and the discrimination against non-Muslims, evident in almost every OIC country.

Vilifying critics of Islam and sharia practices as ‘islamophobic’ is in fact aiding and abetting those who seek to silence the debate about the rise of Islamic sharia, both in the West and in the once secular countries of the OIC.

Kevin Rudd, our erstwhile Prime Minister and current Foreign Minister, has a bit of a reputation as a grandstander. The current view is that he’s bucking for a seat with the UN (Security Council, no less – even temporary is good to this fellow), and a part of his sleazing towards that goal is sucking up to the OIC.

He’s given a lot of money to help the less fortunate in countries other than Oz, which you’d expect as Foreign Minister. But…

Louvre readies to open new Islamic wing

With a roof designed to look like a floating sheet of silk, a reference to the Islamic headscarf, a new wing of the Louvre housing Islamic art is nearing completion.

The project to house the Paris museum’s well regarded collection of Islamic objects was launched by former president Jacques Chirac in 2002.

Six years later his successor, Nicolas Sarkozy, laid the first stone. After four years of construction, the wing is set to open in the summer.

On Wednesday, the Louvre’s director, Henri Loyette, gave an update on the progress of the building, which is due to open in the summer.

He said the new addition to the museum would put on show “collections that have been largely neglected for 25 years.”

The building’s architect Mario Bellini, who has designed the structure with Rudy Ricciotti, told the BBC the structure should seem as if it is “floating in mid-air.”

“The roof is only supported by eight very narrow tubes which are leaning and dancing together and which support the weight of the veil to the bottom of the foundations,” he said.

The 3,500 square metre space is the museum’s biggest project since the construction of the glass pyramid that sits in the Louvre’s main courtyard twenty years ago.

The €98 million ($126 million) new wing will sit in one of the Louvre’s hidden courtyards in the Denon wing of the gallery and can house around 18,000 works.

In 2011, the Louvre attracted a record 8.8 million visits, with around two-thirds coming from outside France.

The Amsterdam police published photos of a group of youth who threatened to kill a man in Amsterdam-West last August because he did not fast on Ramadan. The group shouted at the man that they’ll shoot him in the head, the police reported Monday.
