Russian TV covers the Geert trial as critical for Europe and free speech
Who would have seen the day when the Russians would heap scorn on the Dutch for lack of free speech? I doubt even the Maya’s saw that one coming.
Wilders quotes Jefferson in opening statement in court
Geert Wilders in court. Dutch TV news clip
Please check back in with Vlad or GOV in the next couple of hours. I just finished subtitling Geert’s opening speech at his trial and it is indeed historic. Below, is a news clip from Dutch TV about this very important trial for the whole free world. For anyone who might have wondered what the European Witch trials might have been like, Holland might be preparing to show us.
Geert Wilders’ personal speech at pre-trial hearing
From GeertWilders.nl
Mister Speaker, judges of the court,
I would like to make use of my right to speak for a few minutes.
Freedom is the most precious of all our attainments and the most vulnerable. People have devoted their lives to it and given their lives for it. Our freedom in this country is the outcome of centuries. It is the consequence of a history that knows no equal and has brought us to where we are now.
I believe with all my heart and soul that the freedom in the Netherlands is threatened. That what our heritage is, what generations could only dream about, that this freedom is no longer a given, no longer self-evident.
I devote my life to the defence of our freedom. I know what the risks are and I pay a price for it every day. I do not complain about it; it is my own decision. I see that as my duty and it is why I am standing here.
I know that the words I use are sometimes harsh, but they are never rash. It is not my intention to spare the ideology of conquest and destruction, but I am not any more out to offend people. I have nothing against Muslims. I have a problem with Islam and the Islamization of our country because Islam is at odds with freedom. Continue Reading →
The Wilders trial: Shrugging off Spinoza
17. januar 2010 Arthur Legger
Any one who still claims that the trial against Geert Wilders MP, leader of the Party for Freedom (9 seats in Parliament and 27 in the polls), which starts on the 20th of January, is not a political process: get a grip. Accused by the Dutch ‘Openbaar Ministerie’ exactly a year ago for insulting Islam, comparing the Koran to Mein Kampf and delivering hate speeches, the coming trial against Wilders suddenly got a Kafkaesque and potentially murderous twist. Finally, seven days before his first day in Court, all fangs were out and faces off.
“It is irrelevant whether Wilder’s witnesses might prove Wilders’ observations to be correct”, the ‘Openbaar Ministerie’ stated, “what’s relevant is that his observations are illegal”. Unexpected and breaching court procedures the detailed indictment of 21 pages, which Wilders received on the 4th of December and sums up in verbatim all of his Islam and Koran critique in interviews and Fitna, was amended with new accusations of racism against muslims and Moroccans. On top of this, Paul Vellerman, the public prosecutor of the Amsterdam Court decided that the Wilders trial had to be regarded as “an ordinary trial open for public and with a normal procedure, which doesn’t deserve the Department of Justice’s highly secured bunker. His is a normal case and we’ll treat it as such”.
It’s sad to note that Mohammed Bouyeri, the murderer of Theo van Gogh, and Volkert van der Gaag, the assassin of Pim Fortuyn, were tried in this specially designed bunker, but that Wilders has to rely on his personal bodyguards and full metal jacket to ward of terrorists. No safe room for him, which recently secured Kurt Westergaard and his granddaughter, but for months on end the vulnerability of a sitting duck.
The demonized Fortuyn
To a connoisseur of the classic art of Dutch political murder, revived in 2002 with the assassination of the deliberatedly unprotected and demonized Pim Fortuyn, this twist of fate comes, however, as no surprise. The ‘Openbaar Ministerie’ had to do something. Presented with much aplomb in January, already on the 10th of March it turned out that the case against Wilders had one crucial weak spot: it might not hold in Court. For in a comparable case the Dutch High Court acquitted a Dutchman of his earlier conviction of ‘Group-insult’ of Muslims. He had been sentenced to jail for hanging a poster in front of his window that stated: “Stop the cancerous growth named Islam”. The High Court ruled that “if one insults a religion, one doesn’t automatically insult its believers”. Continue Reading →

Second man of interest aboard flight, also Nigerian
From The Washington Post:
Man removed from same flight as Christmas attack
The Associated Press
Sunday, December 27, 2009; 2:55 PM
DETROIT — A passenger onboard the same Northwest Airlines flight that was attacked on Christmas Day was taken into custody in Detroit on Sunday after becoming verbally disruptive upon landing, officials said.
A law enforcement official said the man was Nigerian and had locked himself in the airliner’s bathroom. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.
Delta Air Lines spokeswoman Susan Elliott said crew members requested that security remove the man from Flight 253 after he became disruptive. The remaining 255 passengers got off safely, she said.
Airport spokesman Scott Wintner said it was the same flight on which a man tried to set off an explosive on Christmas Day.
“The pilot requested emergency assistance upon arrival,” he said.
Security and airline personnel are on edge since the attempted terror attack on Christmas Day, and the law enforcement official said that lesser incidents had been reported on other flights arriving in Detroit, but the incident with the Nigerian man had sparked the most concern.

A Dutch Hero. “Let’s Roll II”
From the youtube link:
Jasper Schuringa, a 32-year-old film maker from Amsterdam, is being lauded as the primary hero after he led the charge to subdue would-be attacker Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on Northwest flight 253 yesterday. As the flight approached Detroit, Abdulmutallab worked to ignite what seems to be an incendiary device meant to light the plane on fire. Continue Reading →

U.S.: Attempted Attack On Northwest Airlines Flight
December 26, 2009
A passenger on a Northwest Airlines flight bound for Detroit attempted to detonate an explosive device that was strapped to his leg during the flight, the Wall Street Journal reported Dec. 25, citing a statement by an unnamed senior U.S. official. The suspect is believed to be a Nigerian national, and has told U.S. investigators that he has ties to al Qaeda. The flight originated in Nigeria and stopped in Amsterdam before departing for Detroit.
December 26, 2009
The passenger on a Northwest Airlines flight who attempted to detonate an explosive device aboard the plane has told investigators that he was given the explosive device, originally thought to be a gunpowder firecracker but now believed to be more sophisticated, by al Qaeda operatives in Yemen, according to a U.S. official, The Wall Street Journal reported Dec. 25. The suspect also claims to have received training in Yemen on how to detonate the explosive. The device, which reportedly consisted of a liquid and a powder, caught fire as the individual attempted to set it off.
December 26, 2009
The U.S. government has declared the incident aboard a Northwest Airlines flight to be an attempted terrorist attack, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has issued a statement saying that screenings may be increased in response to the incident, the New York Times reported Dec. 25. U.S. President Barack Obama, currently on vacation in Hawaii, was briefed on the incident during two secure conference calls with his national security team.
December 26, 2009
A U.S. counterterrorism official said the suspect in the attempted Northwest Airlines attack Dec. 25, Nigerian national Abdul Mudallad, was in a U.S. intelligence database and on a government no-fly list, The New York Times reported. A passenger three rows in front of the suspect on the plane told National Public Radio that the suspect attempted to detonate the device during the plane’s descent, and that after noticing a glow and the smell of smoke, another passenger tackled the suspect immediately.
U.S.: Suspect Had Terror Connections, Not On No-Fly List – Congressman
December 26, 2009
U.S. Representative Peter King said that the Nigerian suspect, identified as Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, was not on any government no-fly lists, as had previously been reported, but his name was in an intelligence database for individuals suspected of terrorist connections, CNN reported Dec. 25. King also said that an investigation has begun to determine whether the incident was isolated, or part of a larger plot. MSNBC has reported that the suspect had purchased a one-way ticket for his flight.
U.S.: Suspect Departed Nigeria, U.S. Entry Visa Issued June 2008
December 26, 2009
The suspect in the attempted attack on a Northwest Airlines flight Dec. 25 began his journey in Nigeria on board KLM Flight 588 and made a connection in Amsterdam aboard Northwest Flight 253, ABC reported. The individual’s entry visa stated he was traveling to the United States for a religious ceremony, and the visa was issued June 16, 2008 and valid through June 12, 2010.

Theo Van Gogh, and a fascist Dutch state.
The Dutch government has so much to be ashamed of in the events described herein.
I have been aware of it since I first read about it on Klein Verzet (The Little Resistance) some time ago. Perhaps two years or more. Where to begin? I would say with the murder of Theo van Gogh, an event which was profoundly hurtful to a good size segment of the Dutch population, perhaps a segment that until then had been unaware of Islam and its true nature.
One man, a Rotterdam artist, Chris Ripke, (who’s studio is right next door to the Mosque in the Insulindestraat [the Turkish Iskender Pasa Camii Mosque) decided to do a fairly innocuous protest. He went to Rotterdam, and painted a small mural of an Angel, some Koranic text about peace at the bottom, and the words:” Though Shalt Not Kill” in Dutch across the mural.
A man representing the nearby mosque was of course, offended by the Christian sentiment on the mural and called the city and demanded it be removed. In point form, the city obliged and perhaps most horrifying of all, the police told all media present for the removal of the mural they may not film it and had their film taken away in keeping with the Dutch police of ‘non-escalation’. A few days ago, someone sent me a link to a video on youtube of this whole event. Apparently someone decided not to comply with the police request thankfully, and a group of us worked hard to translate and subtitle this as we feel as many people as humanly possible need to see this and understand its importance. Although this event is old, the presence of this tape is new to me and almost certainly new to the English speaking world. Here is the English subtitled video:
Removal of angel Mural, Rotterdam 2004 from Vlad Tepes on Vimeo.
Please pass this link around to anyone who cares about freedom of the press, freedom from Government interference in what we may or may not know, and freedom from what is referred to in s video as ‘The Political Police” something I bet very few Dutch people even know exist but clearly have a massive impact on what they may or may not know that takes place within their own nation and cities.
Here is a link to the Klein Verzet story on this. Below, a segment of it:
From Klein Verzet:
What a difference a few years make. When we started this blog, the Dutch had a reputation comparable to the Danes. But now it seems that the Netherlands has joined the madness of the UK, France, Sweden and Norway, in their mad dash to destroy the spirit of the native people, for diversity’s sake. Or, as Mark Steyn puts it:
In the Netherlands even the most innocuous statement can get you into trouble. To express his disgust at Theo van Gogh’s murder, the artist Chris Ripke put up a mural outside his studio showing an angel and the words “Thou shalt not kill”. But the cops thought this was somehow a dig at the local mosque and so came round, destroyed the mural, arrested the TV news crew filming it, and wiped their tape. The Dutch have determined to commit societal euthanasia, and dislike fellows pointing out it might not be as painless as they’ve assumed.
The staggering injustice of all of this is nicely put into words by Bruce Bawer, in a piece he concluded with these words:
In Dutch Muslim schools and mosques, incendiary rhetoric about the Netherlands, America, Jews, gays, democracy, and sexual equality is routine; a generation of Dutch Muslims are being brought up with toxic attitudes toward the society in which they live. And no one is ever prosecuted for any of this. Instead, a court in the Netherlands—a nation once famous for being an oasis of free speech—has now decided to prosecute a member of the national legislature for speaking his mind. By doing so, it proves exactly what Wilders has argued all along: that fear and “sensitivity” to a religion of submission are destroying Dutch freedom.
Well worth going over to Mark Steyn’s article on it as well:
There is an interview with the man who was arrested. I hope to add that transcript in English to the rest of this post as well very soon. In the meantime, I am going to have to ask myself as a Canadian,
What is it I am not allowed to hear or know?
How is whatever law is being used to isolate me from reality being selectively enforced as Mark Steyn so clearly points out in his article related to this? Here is the original youtube link with more information on this incident and links to other interviews and information. This may not be spectacularly violent or sexy as fascist expose’s go. But that is what makes this so important. We must familiarize ourselves with this and humiliate the Dutch government and thereby all western governments that would make it impossible for their own people to make healthy decisions for themselves by effectively blinding and deafening them. While the cop may not have been wearing jackboots, at least that would have gotten some people upset. With the Dutch policy of non-escalation, no one can know enough to be upset. But after all, isn’t that is what ‘non-escalation’ means?
Huge thanks to V.H. for the amazingly fast and excellent work on the translation, and to a flu ridden Baron over at the gates who despite being bed ridden with the rotten flu that is going around, edited the work before I subtitled it. This gives some idea of the importance many of us feel this has. It also is an amazingly rare exception to the Frank Zappa rule of getting work done. 1. Good 2. Fast 3. Cheap. Pick any 2.
Typically this is really true. However our team did everything well fast and free. Thank you again guys and of course to Klein Verzet for sending me the links and to A Certain Amount of Evil for sending me the original Dutch video in the first place a few days ago. Something I did not know existed. But something that by coincidence, did come up in a recent interview a few weeks ago, between The International Free Speech Society and Morten Meserschmidt
ADDITIONAL INFO: Please click here to read the Gates of Vienna post on this matter. He has more information including a transcription of an interview with the man who was arrested and more. Very thorough work by V.H. The translator (I made a mistake in the credits in the video) and The Baron.

People paint THEO just his name, around the neighborhood. And the police paint over it. But they NEVER paint over gang signs!
I’m sorry to say this but the dutch police are nothing but cowards.
You can’t count on them to uphold the law. They bow to islam every time.
