Swiss parliamentarians vote for burqa ban

For the record, I am way against all these kinds of bans. As much as I appreciate Geert Wilders and all like him in Europe, they are making a serious error. The answer to Islam is more freedom not less. If women want to wear nothing or wear a burka that is their right. And it also should be my right to not allow naked women into my business (or allow), or women wearing the symbols of the greatest oppressive movement possibly of all time, Islam.

Obviously all laws banning covering your face in banks and on public transport and so on simply need to be applied to burkas. In other words, no new laws please. Just stop making exceptions to the ones we already have for Muslims. It is so damn simple.

Swiss parliamentarians vote for burqa ban

Swiss parliamentarians approved on Wednesday a far-right move to impose a ban on the burqa or other face coverings in some public places, including on public transport.

With 101 votes against 77, the lower chamber of the house approved the motion titled “masks off!”.

The draft bill will still have to be examined by the upper chamber.

Put forward by Oskar Freysinger, a politician of the Swiss far-right SVP party, the motion requires “anyone addressing a federal, cantonal or communal authority exercising his or her functions, to present themselves with their faces uncovered.”

Burqas would also be banned on public transport, while “authorities can ban or restrict access to public buildings to such individuals in order to guarantee the security of other users.”

Explaining the motion, Freysinger noted that “at a time when insecurity is growing in our streets, more and more people are hiding their faces behind a balaclava, a mask or a burqa.

“This makes it impossible to identify these people, a fact that is particularly troublesome in case of violence or identity checks,” he noted.

France was the first European Union country to impose a ban on the burqa in public places, while Belgium joined it some months later.

On September 16th, the Dutch government also agreed to a ban on the full Islamic veil under a deal with the far-right party of the anti-immigration MP Geert Wilders.

IMMIGRANTS WANT REMOVAL OF CROSS FROM SWISS NATIONAL FLAG

Bound to happen sooner or later right? Make room for all that multiculturalism! KGS

Away with the Cross: Secondos is for a new Swiss flag

The Swiss cross should be abolished. The demands of the immigrant second generation immigrants Plus Association. “The Swiss flag is no longer today’s multicultural Switzerland,” says Petrusic.

The cross had a Christian background. The Christian origin of Switzerland, it is true indeed respected, “but it is also a separation between religion and state to make,” asks the Executive Member of secondos Plus. “Apart from that we have today a great religious and cultural diversity in Switzerland.”

It needs new symbols, which could also identify with everyone, even non-Christians. As a new national flag might offer the former flag of the Helvetic Republic. This was officially introduced in 1799 and consisted of the colors quergesteift green, red, yellow.

SWISS PEOPLE’S PARTY OSCAR FREYSINGER HIT WITH PIE AFTER DEBATING HANI RAMADAN AT UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA

“The full intellectual power of the left strikes again!” Brian of London

After a debate with the brother of Tariq Ramadan’s brother Hani, Oskar Freysinger gets nailed with a pie in the face by a disgruntled student who obviously disagreed with the member of the Swiss People’s Party concerning Islam. It was an act of thuggery, representative of the mentalities that love to rule by force and decree, Leftism and Islam.

The only point that the TT would be in disagreement with Freysinger, is of the act of pie throwing supposedly “belonging to democracy”, far from it. It’s an act of political violence, of intimidation, which runs counter to the ethic of political disagreements in a democracy being handled through public debate and at the voting booth.

Lets face some facts here, the Left is known for such antics, almost holding exclusive rights to them, like the throwing of pies in the faces of people with whom they disagree, tossing paint on people wearing furs, as well as Muslims throwing feces and urine at demonstrations. This is how the totalitarian mindset operates, because they can’t hope to win an argument, so they have to intimidate their opposition. It’s all pure thuggery. KGS

Student throws pie in Freysinger’s face

Updated 09/06/2011

Basler Zeitung:The Valais SVP politicians debated at the University of Geneva on the fight against terrorism. At the panel meeting, he himself became the target of attack.

[…] The verbal sparring between Islam critic Freysinger and moderate Islam researcher Ramadan proceeded in an orderly fashion: Freysinger criticized sharia and talked about creeping Islamization, which in his opinion, takes the upper hand in European societies. On the other hand, Ramadan urged the variety of interpretations of Muslim religion and condemned the sweeping view of the SVP. The two rivals had been in a very polite discussion with each other, the newspaper said.

Pie throwing a political freedom?

The attack occurred after the actual debate was already closed. One of the students in attendance – apparently not an advocate of Freysinger’s line of argument – tossed a pie in the direction of the SVP politician. Freysinger was hit in the face, his jacket was spattered with whipped cream. The student was then taken by security forces and led from the room.

Freysinger commented to Swiss radio RSR that nothing like this has ever happened to him before. Freysinger was angry, “The person throwing this pie could have at least refrained from poking his finger into my eye.” If I am afraid of these things, I will leave politics right away. Later he modified his statement, saying that throwing a pie is part of democracy.

Muslim Appeal on Swiss Minarets Rejected

A European court rejected appeals against a ban on the construction of new minarets in Switzerland.

GENEVA – A Muslim appeal against a ban imposed on the construction of new minarets in Switzerland was rejected on Friday, July 8, by the European Court of Human Rights, saying that the plaintiffs were not victims of an alleged human rights violation.

“The main complaint was that a disputed constitutional provision offended their religious beliefs,” the court statement cited by Swiss Info news agency said on Friday.

“However, they did not allege that it had had any practical effect on them.”

The lawsuit was first filed in December 2009 by a former spokesman for a Geneva mosque and several Swiss Muslim groups. Continue Reading →

Oskar Freysinger, a hero in France.

Here is a screen capture of the first part of an article, a machine translation from French. The people of Paris received the Swiss man, Oskar Freysinger, who was the force behind the direct democracy plebiscite in Switzerland to ban the building of minarettes, as a conquoring hero. Muslim population in Western Europe rising

IB NEWS… The population of Muslims in Western Europe has been steadily rising in recent decades, largely due to immigration from the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa.

In Southeastern Europe, much of which once formed part of the Ottoman Empire, Muslims have been present for many centuries, but they are a relatively new phenomenon in the western part of the continent.

On the whole, Muslim’s represent about 5 percent of the population of the EU 27.

Far-right politicians in Europe have long warned that the Muslim numbers will continue to grow due to higher birth rates. Marine Le Pen, the head of France’s anti-immigrant National Front party, who openly discusses the rising number Muslims in France, could conceivably win next year’s presidential election, according to polls.

While the percentage of Muslims as part of the overall population of western European nations are in single digits, a 2009 study by the Telegraph newspaper in the UK estimated that by 2050, Muslims will account for 20 percent of the European Union’s populace. Long before that, Britain, Spain and The Netherlands will reach and surpass that figure. Continue Reading →

Swiss vote yes on plebiscite to deport foreign criminals

It is amazing how rational the public can be if you just give them the chance to vote. The Swiss passed a resolution to deport foreigners who commit violent crimes etc, something that should be automatic in all countries and should not need a nationwide plebiscite, as soon as they had the chance to do it. Here is a video translated for us by Snaphanen.dk

Much more info from Gates of Vienna:

This time last year the Swiss pulled out ahead of the rest of Western Europe when they voted in favor of a ban on the building of new minarets. They followed it up today by approving a referendum that would force the deportation of all foreigners convicted of serious criminal offenses.

The oligarchy which runs Switzerland — like the oligarchies that administer all Western countries — was desperate to stop this initiative. They tried to lure voters into supporting a watered-down version, which would have recommended deportation, but left the final decision up to judges, who would evaluate each individual case on the merits.

Swiss voters, perhaps noticing what happens when things are left to the discretion of progressive-minded judges, did not take the bait, and 53% voted for the stronger version of the new law.

It’s worth noting that all major Christian denominations opposed the measure. Just as in Britain, Sweden, Germany, and the Netherlands, organized Christianity seems consistently to act against the interests and welfare of the native population. The same is true of the major Protestant denominations in the United States, which are wholly in thrall to progressive trans-nationalism. Even the Vatican has in large part caved in to Multicultural orthodoxy.

Notice also that foreigners were reported to be overwhelmingly against the initiative. Well, DUH!

The media probably expect native white Europeans to feel guilty when they hear that the Swiss have offended their foreign guests with their “xenophobia”. But the vote didn’t affect me that way, and I strongly suspect that the majority of Europeans are not wallowing in guilt as called for by the script. Most people are probably thinking, “At last! A display of common sense!”

Here’s the report from Swissinfo:

Swiss Approve Foreign Criminal Initiative

The Swiss have voted to adopt tough new regulations on the deportation of foreigners convicted of serious crimes and welfare fraud.

Final results showed 53 per cent voting in favour of a rightwing initiative. The initiative also won the backing of 18 out of 26 cantons.

In a complex nationwide vote on Sunday, the electorate were faced with a choice between a hardline option and a compromise version; or approving or rejecting both proposals.

Turnout was higher than usual — at 52 per cent — a sign of how contentious were the issues being voted on.

The rightwing People’s Party initiative called for the automatic expulsion of non-Swiss offenders convicted of crimes ranging from murder to breaking and entry and social security fraud. The proposal denies judges judicial discretion over deportation.

An alternative option by parliament would have allowed for a case-by-case examination and additional integration measures.

Parliament’s counter-proposal was rejected by 54 per cent of voters, results showed.

An unofficial voting platform for migrants, Baloti, reported very different voting results: 85 per cent against the initiative, and 15 per cent for.

U.S. diplomat knows more about minaret ban than a the Swiss Parliament

Thanks to proud kafir for finding, translating, and sending this article to us:

Sunday 21 November 2010, 10:41

Disturbing conclusions from the U.S.: A senior government official has made astounding statements about the ban on minarets in Switzerland. Before the assembled world press, he explained clearly that the Federal Council was working to overturn the result of the referendum. The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA), according to the “Sonntag” newspaper, reacts with surprise.

In his statement as the head of the Human Rights Division in the U.S. State Department, Michael Posner, told the media the following on Wednesday, when the conversation turned to alleged harassment of Muslims in Western Europe

“The Government of Switzerland – and I’ve spoken repeatedly with their representatives -. Is now working hard to overturn the ban (on minarets.)”

In effect, this meant that Swiss Muslims would again have the right to build minarets, he said, according to the newspaper “Sonntag”.

The Swiss Embassy in Washington would, according to the Journal, not comment on this statement. Behind closed doors, it has been referred to as a likely misunderstanding – because ultimately the Swiss Federal Council does not have the legal means to ignore the result of a valid referendum.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry has learned about Mr. Posner’s statements, responded the spokeswoman Carole Wälti to “Sonntag”. Posner’s comments, that there have been efforts by the Swiss government to lift the ban on minarets, are baseless. There have also been “no talks held with Michael Posner,” added Wälti.

Switzerland: Oskar Freysinger: Is Islam a Threat?

From Gates of Vienna comes this speech by a Swiss politician, but delivered in Belgium.

I reported last week on the difficulties faced by Oskar Freysinger, the leader of the Swiss People’s Party, when he attempted to give a lecture in Brussels. Twice denied a private venue, he eventually gave his talk in the Flemish Parliament, thanks to the intervention of Vlaams Belang leader Filip Dewinter.

Mr. Freysinger gave his speech in French, and it has now been translated into English, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our French correspondent l’échappée belle. It is an excellent exposition of the extensive damage inflicted by mass Muslim immigration on the legal systems and national cultures of Europe.

Conference in Brussels October 9, 2010

To preface, allow me to note that at the end of this first decade of the 21st century, questions and debate have become a challenge in the EU.

First, the Diamant Conference Center in Schaerbeek closed its doors to me under pressure from the mayor and the police on the leaseholder of the room, and then it was the turn of the Crowne Plaza Hotel to deny me a room. Its owner had at least the elegance, after having first accepted and then rejected the conference, to meet us, Marcel Castermans and me, to express his embarrassment of being unable to fulfill his commitment. “However,” he advised during this interview, “The Crowne Plaza is no exception as to its rejection. Currently, you will not find any hotel room in Brussels prepared to welcome you, as political pressures are too great. You see, I am a businessman, and cannot go against the system “. The manager of the Crowne Plaza didn’t know how right he was, because the owner of a third venue, who originally gave his approval, recanted just this morning.

This is why Europe is running adrift: Not because of fanatics who occupy the land, but because of cowards who let them do it. Continue Reading →

This week’s “Tales from the ‘Freedom’ Files”

This week’s stories remind us once again of how ‘old fashioned’, rational thought is being replaced by ‘progressive’, irrational ideology. The Loony Left in its mission to create a better, more thoughtful world continues to cast aside what they consider the useless notions of public consultation, debate and majority consent in favour of their gentler, wiser, dictatorial approach. Initially we at vladtepesblog were reluctant to post these stories, as we felt they may provide more data for the social engineers of our cities to expand their role of government interference in our personal choices and anything else enjoyable. Quickly concluding they will rail on regardless, we got over it. Enjoy.

#1 From the U.K. British Man Arrested by the Egg Police. A British auctioneer who attempted to sell a chest of drawers containing 100 year old bird’s eggs has been charged under laws designed to protect wildlife. Jim Railton thought the cabinet was just another piece of furniture but authorities disagreed. After a description of the common species eggs appeared in an auction catalogue, his salesroom was raided by police who were tipped off by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. He was arrested and driven to the police station where he was fingerprinted and mouth swabbed for a DNA sample. If found guilty, he faces a $5,000 fine and 6 months in prison.

#2 From the U.S., Switzerland and Canada. Workers in Detroit Urged to Avoid Perfumed Products. Signs will be placed in city buildings in Detroit telling staff to refrain from using scented products such as cologne, aftershave, perfume, deodorants and face/body lotions. Scented candles and spray/solid air fresheners are also banned. The new regulation came into play after a city employee won a $100,000 settlement claiming colleagues perfume caused her breathing difficulty. Due to similar complaints, Zurich has banned perfume, plunging necklines, bad breath, shirts with patterns, too much make-up, overly manicured nails, gym shoes, messy beards and short trousers. Ottawa debated on a similar program that would outlaw perfume, scented soaps, cleaners and deodorants in public places.

#3 From the U.K.  British Police Banned from Asking for Christian Names. British police officers taking down a suspect’s particulars have been banned from asking for their Christian names should the practice offend Muslims, Sikhs and people of other faiths. They must instead ask for their ‘personal’ or ‘family’ name. Kent’s police diversity handbook also instructs officers to refrain from using phrases such as ‘ my dear’, ‘love’, ‘mixed-race’, ‘businessman’, ‘housewives’ and ‘child’ and warns officers not to comfort people by ‘putting their arm around them’. The rulebook for Kent police intends to ‘break down cultural barriers with diverse communities’ and such loose talk and gestures of comfort could be seen as embarrassing and unprofessional by some unfamiliar with the ease of traditional British norms. The Kent manual seems in keeping with NHS Trust who attempted to ban hot cross buns at it’s hospitals during Easter for fear of offense and Liverpool schools who have succeeded in their ban of the traditional bun along with pancakes.

#4 From Canada.  Butt Out! City of Waterloo to Ban Smoking in Apartments. As of April 1, a Waterloo regional policy is set to outlaw smoking in multi-unit apartment dwellings. The ban will apply to all new residents and to those previous tenants who wish to relocate to a new unit. “People’s health is important to us and we’ve taken a bold move”, says regional director of housing Deb Schlichter, adding ” not everyone is going to be happy with the change”. Ms. Schlichter also advocates the use of public health nurses to provide counseling and nicotine replacement therapy to those who wish to kick the habit but does not rule out the prospect of eviction as a last resort. Pressure groups have long lobbied for a complete ban on smoking including in the home. Sadly, tenant Gary Smith’s old fashioned sentiment is lost among the rhetoric of the Butt-Out-Brigade ” what I do in my apartment is nobody’s business”.

#5 From England, Scotland and Canada.  The Latest in the War on Fat: Council Bans Ice Cream Vans from Stopping Near Schools. Ice cream traders in London have been banned from parking outside schools or in town centers in a bid by Hillington Council to improve children’s diets. Council claims they have been forced into action because healthier eating habits in children must be encouraged. Ice cream vendors found in defiance of the ban risk having their van(s) impounded. “An ice lolly is only unhealthy if you have 3 or 4 in one go” said ice cream vendor Pete Bhogal. The ban applies to nurseries through secondary schools.

The promotion of healthier eating habits in children including a ban on baked potatoes for pupils, is just one issue being tackled by health desk-jockeys. School administrators in Scotland have folded sleep lessons for teens into the curriculum warning them of the health hazards of late night t.v. and the benefits of an early bed time. This is done despite the fact that most parents are perfectly qualified to teach good sleeping habits to their own children within their own homes. Meanwhile, one Calgary school has banned kids from skateboarding to it’s school as officials have mistaken them for weapons. The fact that skateboarding is a healthy form of exercise seems to escape such skinny minded bureaucrats, as the city of Calgary also frowns on skateboard ramps, basketball hoops and hockey nets.

Libya’s Gaddafi urges jihad against Switzerland

BENGHAZI, Libya (Reuters) – Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi called on Thursday for a “jihad” or armed struggle against Switzerland, saying it was an infidel state that was destroying mosques.

World

“Any Muslim in any part of the world who works with Switzerland is an apostate, is against (the Prophet) Mohammad, God and the Koran,” Gaddafi said during a meeting in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi to mark the Prophet’s birthday.

“The masses of Muslims must go to all airports in the Islamic world and prevent any Swiss plane landing, to all harbors and prevent any Swiss ships docking, inspect all shops and markets to stop any Swiss goods being sold,” Gaddafi said.

The Swiss Foreign Ministry said it had no comment on Gaddafi’s remarks.

Libya’s relations with Switzerland broke down in 2008 when a son of Gaddafi was arrested in a Geneva hotel and charged with abusing domestic servants. Continue Reading →
