Puppets preach hate on Hamas TV

A screengrab shows a bear on a Hamas TV show, the bear calls for the slaughter of jews. Palestinian Media Watch A screengrab shows a bear on a Hamas TV show, the bear calls for the slaughter of jews.

A Palestinian children’s program is using a bear puppet that talks about “slaughtering” Jews, according to the Israeli watchdog group Palestinian Media Watch.

The character on Hamas TV is the latest in a series of puppets and cartoons used by the weekly show Tomorrow’s Pioneers to promote anti-Semitism and incite violence, said media watch director Itamar Marcus.

The show, which started in 2007, became popular in the Arab world when it began to feature a Mickey Mouse-type character, he said.

“This Mickey Mouse character was teaching killing and murder and slaughter and destruction of Jews. In fact, he was also teaching conquest of the West as well,” Mr. Marcus said.

When media watch, a pro-Israeli organization that monitors Palestinian media, highlighted the story the subsequent international attention led to the character being killed off.

“They had the Mickey Mouse character killed on TV. They had an Israeli kill him and he became a Shahid [martyr],” Mr. Marcus said.

He said since then there have been three more characters, Nahul the Bee (who also became a martyr) and a bunny character called Assud, who in the show was killed during the Gaza war.

“Every time Israel was responsible,” he said.

The latest character is a giant bear, Nassur.

Mr. Marcus said during the show, which also features a real presenter called Saraa, the bear uses two different words for “slaughter” to describe how to rid Israel of Jews.

During the show a child also phones in and talks about wanting to kill Jews for the death of his father.

The program was shown on Al-Aqsa TV, more commonly called Hamas TV, last week.

“All the adult messages of ‘It’s good to die for Allah; it’s good to fight the West; we are going to conquer the West; it’s important to kill the Jews,’ all these adult messages that often come through religious leaders and political leaders, the kids are getting through these cartoon and gigantic puppet characters,” Mr. Marcus said.

In recent years, Hamas has been using mass media to spread its message. In addition to a satellite TV channel, it owns a radio station and newspapers. A German-trained director also released a feature film produced by Hamas earlier this year; reports said he hoped to enter it in the Cannes Film Festival.

Tomorrow’s Pioneers has been widely criticized by media watchdog groups.

The TV station did not return calls for comment.

When the show launched, the station’s deputy manager told CNN that it was about Palestinian children.”They express their feeling regarding what they witness – if it’s occupation it’s about that, and about the prisoners and how to lead the world,” the deputy manager was quoted as saying.

Media watch was set up in 1996 to “gain an understanding of Palestinian society through the monitoring of the Palestinian Arabic language media and schoolbooks,” its website says.

UN Watch: Israeli doctor wonders why UN ignores her testimony.

Once again, the UN shows that it is the sock puppet of the OIC, and renders all verdicts against Israel well before any actual investigation gets done. Below the video I will put the text of the testimony and any links I can.

Geneva, September 29, 2009 — The U.N. Human Rights Council plenary witnessed a dramatic face-off today when the head of its controversial “fact-finding” mission on Gaza — in which Israel was declared guilty from the start — was unexpectedly confronted by one of his own witnesses.

In a surprise appearance arranged by the Geneva human rights organization UN Watch, Dr. Mirela Siderer — an Israeli doctor who was brutally disfigured in 2008 by a rocket attack fired from Gaza into her Ashkelon medical clinic — pointedly accused Goldstone of ignoring her July oral testimony in his report, and of failing to disclose material information concerning the prior statements of the Human Rights Council and panel members declaring Israel guilty in advance. Click for video. The speech was published in full today by Canada’s National Post, and covered widely in Switzerland, Israel and worldwide.

Sitting on the dais, Goldstone was visibly shaken by Dr. Siderer’s challenge and scrambled for a copy of her speech. His response to the plenary ignored 7 of her questions, and inadequately responded to the 8th. See full text and video below. For UN Watch’s play-by-play Twitter of today’s heated debate, click here.
UN Watch Plenary Address
U.N. Human Rights Council Debate on Goldstone Report
Agenda Item 7: “Human rights situation in Palestine
and other occupied Arab territories”
Delivered by Dr. Mirela Siderer, Geneva, September 29, 2009

My name is Dr. Mirela Siderer. I am a gynecologist living in Ashkelon, Israel.

Judge Goldstone, in July you invited me to testify. I told you my story. I am known by my patients — including many women from Gaza. For me, every human being is equal.

On May 14, 2008, my life was changed forever. I was working in my clinic. Suddenly, the building was hit by a missile, fired from Gaza. I was terribly wounded. Blood was everywhere. My patient was also wounded, and more than 100 others. Next month will be my eighth operation.

Judge Goldstone, I told you all of this, in detail. I testified in good faith. You sent me this letter, saying, “Your testimony is an essential part of the Mission’s fact-finding activities.”

But now I see your report. I have to tell you: I am shocked.

Judge Goldstone, in a 500-page report, why did you completely ignore my story? My name appears only in passing, in brackets, in a technical context.

I feel humiliated.

Why are there only two pages about Israeli victims like me, who suffered thousands of rockets over eight years?

Why did you choose to focus on the period of my country’s response, but not on that of the attacks that caused it?

Why did you not tell me that this council judged Israel guilty in advance, in its meeting of last January?

Why did you not tell me that members of your panel signed public letters judging Israel guilty in advance?

Judge Goldstone, you, too, signed such a letter, saying you were “shocked” about Gaza.

But where were you when Gaza attacked my medical clinic, in violation of international human rights and humanitarian law?

Where was this council?

Why were you all silent?

Palestinians warn Israel after Jerusalem clash

JERUSALEM – Palestinian leaders warned Israel on Sunday not to stoke tension in Jerusalem in the hope of thwarting peace talks, after clashes at a sacred site in which Palestinians and Israeli police were injured.

“At a time when [U.S.] President [Barack] Obama is trying to bridge the divide between Palestinians and Israelis, and to get negotiations back on track, Israel is deliberately escalating tensions in Jerusalem,” chief peace negotiator Saeb Erakat said.

“We’ve seen this before, and we know what the consequences are,” the Palestinian minister added, in a statement that recalled the visit of then Israeli opposition leader Ariel Sharon to the site in Jerusalem’s Old City in 2000.

Sharon’s presence at al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, triggered the second Palestinian uprising and dealt the biggest setback to peace efforts in years.

The reasons behind Sunday’s clash were disputed.

According to legislator Hathem Abdel Kader and other Palestinian sources, the clash erupted in the early morning when Palestinians inside the complex — sacred to both Islam and Judaism — saw a group of 15 religious Jews trying to enter. Continue Reading →

Israeli police clash with Palestinians at Al-Aqsa mosque

Israeli police fired tear-gas and stun grenades on Sunday to disperse some 150 Palestinians who began hurling stones as foreign tourists visited a sensitive religious site in the Old City.

Nine policemen were hurt, a police spokesman said, and doctors said 13 Palestinians were treated for injuries after the clash at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, a site revered by Muslims and Jews that has been a major faultine in the Middle East conflict.

Protesters threw stones and chairs as riot police rushed to the scene. Video showed them trying to drive police away from the doorway of the mosque, but there was no sign that police ever entered it during the clash.

One witness said police told him religious Palestinians at the holy site were angry over what they considered the immodest dress of some of the tourists, and grew violent after police ignored their complaints.

The disturbance occurred a few hours before the start of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, in the complex known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as al-Harm al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary).

Police restored calm and closed the complex, which is the size of a large city square. It includes al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, and the Dome of the Rock, above the Jewish prayer site at the Western Wall.

Jewish visitors require special permission from Israeli police to visit the site and usually do so under guard. Israel also restricts access by Palestinian Muslim men under 50.

Temple Mount is the most sacred site in Judaism. The gilded Dome of the Rock sits over the spot where Jews and Christians believe Abraham was about to sacrifice his son Isaac to God before an angel stayed his hand.

In Muslim tradition, Prophet Mohammed ascended to heaven from the rock at the centre of what is now the Dome of the Rock. Al-Haram al-Sharif is the third holiest site for Muslims after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

Ahmadinejad did not cross EU ‘red line’ with UN speech, says Sweden (EU presidency)

Cecilia Julin, Swedish foreign ministry spokeswoman: “We’re not commenting on who left or who didn’t leave. I think there were other reasons for other countries that decided to leave.”

STOCKHOLM (AFP-EJP)—Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did not cross the “red line” that would have prompted a walkout by all EU states in his speech at the United Nations, the Swedish foreign ministry said Thursday.
“There were certain criteria set for when the EU would leave the room and those criteria were not fulfilled,” spokeswoman Cecilia Julin said.

Sweden currently holds the rotating EU presidency.

The criteria agreed in New York before the Iranian leader spoke included denying the Holocaust and calling for the annihilation of Israel, which Ahmadinejad avoided doing this time.

Even so, a number of EU states did walk out when Ahmadinejad attacked Israel, including Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary and Italy.

“We’re not commenting on who left or who didn’t leave,” Julin said. “I think there were other reasons for other countries that decided to leave.”

In his address, Ahmadinejad again took aim at Israel but without mentioning the country or Jews by name, referring only to the “Zionist regime.”

He accused Israel of “inhumane policies in Palestine,” including genocide, and seeking to “establish a new form of slavery, and harm the reputation of other nations, even European nations and the US, to attain its racist ambitions.”

Suggesting there was a Jewish conspiracy, Ahmadinejad added: “It is no longer acceptable that a small minority would dominate the politics, economy and culture of major parts of the world by its complicated networks.”

He accused Jews of seeking to “establish a new form of slavery, and harm the reputation of other nations, even European nations and the US, to attain its racist ambitions.”

Israel had called for a boycott of the speech, and was not present when the Iranian leader spoke.

Canada heeded the boycott call, while delegations from Argentina, Australia, Costa Rica, New Zealand and the United States also left the room as Ahmadinejad began to rail against Israel, a European source said.

Earlier this week, the European Union presidency issued a statement condemning Ahmadinejad for his statements on the Holocaust and on Israel, saying such remarks “encourage anti-Semitism and hatred”.

Ahmadinejad: Israel ‘will not last long’, Holocaust a ‘lie’

imadinnerjacketAt an annual anti-Israel rally, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad repeated his belief that the Holocaust was a ‘lie’ and said that Israel ‘would not last long.’ His comments come ahead of a meeting with the U.S. on Iran’s nuclear program.
Ahead of an October 1 meeting with the U.S. to discuss Iran’s nuclear program, among other topics, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended an annual anti-Israel rally in Tehran on Friday – vowing that Israel “will not last long.” Ahmadinejad also reiterated his long-standing belief Holocaust was not real – that it was more of a manipulation, or a “pretext,” to allow for the establishment of Israel as it is known today. “It is a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim,” he said, according to Reuters. Ahmadinejad has been making similar statements on the topic of the Holocaust since his election to office in 2005, and he has received significant international criticism for the remarks. His renewed comments come at a delicate time, as Western nations continue to suspect Iran of building nuclear weapons – and Israel openly demonstrates its willingness to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.

Holocaust a myth – Iranian leader

From correspondents in Tehran, Iran: News.com.au

September 18, 2009 06:44pm
IRANIAN President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Holocaust was a “myth” as he addressed the annual Quds Day rally in Tehran today, reiterating comments that sparked outrage around the world.

“The very existence of this regime is an insult to the dignity of the people,” the hardliner said referring to arch-foe Israel.

“They (Western powers) launched the myth of the Holocaust. They lied, they put on a show and then they support the Jews.

“If as you claim the Holocaust is true, why can a study not be allowed?” the Iranian president said to chants of “Death to Israel” from the crowd gathered for the annual display of solidarity with the Palestinians.

“The pretext for establishing the Zionist regime is a lie … a lie which relies on an unreliable claim, a mythical claim, and the occupation of Palestine has nothing to do with the Holocaust,” he said.
“This claim is corrupt and the pretext is corrupt.”

Shock in Norway as Media Gives Standing Ovations to Hamas Propagandizing Doctors Mads Gilbert and Fosse……!

The Leftist media

loves their boys

Mads Gilbert & Fosse:

Glad you liked our stuff!

These two doctors are largely responsible for the dissemination of the worst propaganda during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza. Look at how the anti-Israel Norwegian media loves them. How telling is that? KGS

Quote: [DagenMagazinets clear impression is that virtually everyone who was present at the press conference, including the huge press corps, applauded the Gaza doctors repeatedly.]

DagenMagazinets: An almost total press corps applauded when doctors Mads Gilbert and Erik Fosse launched the book “Eyes in Gaza”. – Most unusual, “says Press Association Per Edgar Kokkvold.
JOHN Solsvik
Applause from an enthusiastic press corps broke out again and again when the two Gaza doctors told me about their horrible experiences that doctors at Shifa hospital during the war in January this year.
Only DagenMagazinets journalist asked a critical question about the two doctors’ credibility. Fully aware of the ties the two have to Red party in Norway and the party’s strong anti-Israeli involvement, we asked questions about doctors’ ability to objectivity and credibility.

Mads Gilbert, thanks for the question and said it was totally appropriate to ask such.
– Not activists
– I am very pleased that just Magazinet are present here today. We went to Gaza as doctors and not as journalists, and we do not intend to engage in any kind of propaganda, but convey the strengths of our experiences further. We do not need to lie or reinforce perceptions.
We are not party political activists, but we were in Gaza, with solid support from the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, which granted five million Euros for the work, and from Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg in person. He called us and said we had all the Norwegian people in the back, “said Gilbert.
In addition, he stated that they had used three “heavy” Middle East experts as consultants for the book, one is Kåre Willoch.
– But when no journalists were allowed to enter and report from the war, and it was Israel which effectively put a stop to this, so we had to stand up and tell the world what happened. We missed the Norwegian journalists and we wanted Magazinet in Gaza, said Gilbert.
Erik Fosse and Mads Gilbert gave a stirring picture of what they experienced in Gaza, and accused Israel of crimes against humanity, which they claimed the fresh Goldstone Commission had confirmed.
Gilbert had little time for the Norwegian election campaign that he had followed in part from Gaza.
– Not a single foreign policy issue has dominated the election campaign. The biggest problem in the Norwegian election campaign has been the fear of drowning in a smørøye of Norwegian self-satisfaction, “said Mads Gilbert.
– Most unusual
Secretary General Per Edgar Kokkvold in the Norwegian Press Association thinks it is highly unusual that it will be praised at a news conference.

– Journalists usually ask critical questions to their interviewees, and we are often accused of only being concerned with the negative – and even the public says it. Applauding journalists at a press conference is rare, there you are right, “said Kokkvold.
He added that he was not present, but that he believes appaluse probably came from representatives of organizations working actively for Palestinian cause.
DagenMagazinets clear impression is that virtually everyone who was present at the press conference, including the huge press corps, applauded the Gaza doctors repeatedly.

H/T: Norway, Israel and the Jews UPDATE: Kåre Willoch, one of the “expert” scholars noted by Mads Gilbert as contributing to his book, “Eyes of Gaza”, is a noted severe critic of Israel.

NOTE: About Dr. Mads Gilbert: It turns out he’s no neutral medical man, but active in “solidarity work with Palestinians” for 30 years. Responding to 9/11, Gilbert didn’t rush to New York’s Bellevue Hospital to offer his services. Instead, he defended the moral right of the “oppressed” to have launched that attack.

France: Iran Working On Nuclear Arms – Sarkozy

September 16, 2009

President Nicolas Sarkozy said French intelligence agencies are certain that Iran is hiding a nuclear weapons program, Ynet News reported Sept. 16. Sarkozy stated that Iran cannot be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons because it is a threat to Israel. The French leader added that he will not shake the hand of someone who wants to wipe Israel off the map.

UN Watch and National Post on Naomi Klein

From U.N. watch:

in the space of two weeks, anti-globalization activist and best-selling author Naomi Klein, the preeminent figure of the radical left, published a lengthy essay justifying the U.N.’s disastrous Durban II racism conference, and helped organize a boycott of this week’s Toronto International Film Festival — for the crime of showing Israeli films. The New York Times reports that celebrities who signed Klein’s boycott letter include Harry Belafonte, Viggo Mortensen and Julie Christie. However, Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Portman, Sacha Baron Cohen, Lisa Kudrow, Patricia Heaton and Lenny Kravtiz countered with an ad supporting inclusion of Israeli films, and opposing blacklists. While Jane Fonda initially joined Klein’s boycott, she has now apologized for endorsing its “inflammatory” words.

The following editorial by UN Watch executive director Hillel Neuer, in today’s National Post of Canada, exposes Naomi Klein’s irrational rage — and reveals an ugly episode from her past that she has been carefully hiding.

The strange, enduring rage of Naomi Klein

When it comes to Israel, she has always acted out of intense emotion, hysteria and anger

GENEVA — Supporters of liberal democratic values may have a hard time understanding why anti-globalization activist Naomi Klein has recruited Jane Fonda and other stars to boycott the Toronto International Film Festival for the crime of showing films from Tel Aviv, a symbol of tolerance in a region of tyranny.

Klein has never called for a boycott of films or any other products from the dozens of Arab and Islamic countries that systematically subjugate their women, torture dissidents and persecute religious and ethnic minorities.

She was not moved to protest when the city of Toronto twinned with Chongqing, nor when it established a “friendship relationship” with Ho Chi Minh City, despite the widespread human rights abuses in both China and Vietnam.

Nor has she ever called for the boycotting of films from the many Western democracies, including Canada, whose soldiers are fighting Islamist terrorists in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Klein’s singling out of Israel — particularly its most liberal city and cultural sector — has no rational basis.

This should come as no surprise. For while Klein’s statements and writings on Israel pose as sober analysis, the truth is that she has always acted on this subject out of intense emotion, hysteria and anger, rather than rational thought, facts or logic. Continue Reading →

Israel responds to Swedish blood libel.

Britons confront pro-Palestinian marchers in London

Daily Mail… Hundreds of people on a pro-Palestinian rally in London were met by a group of far-right protesters holding Union Jacks and shouting ‘we hate Muslims’.

The supporters of the English Defence League turned up at the annual Al-Quds Day demonstration to show support for Palestinians and ‘oppressed people’.

There was a heavy police presence in Central London and the procession was met with a small but vocal crowd at Piccadilly Circus.

A line of men, some wearing Millwall FC shirts, held up a union flag and shouted at the marchers.

The men held a banner declaring ‘March for England’.

Police kept the two sides apart as the procession went past and Scotland Yard said there had been no arrests.

English Defence League activists chanted ‘We hate Muslims’ and ‘Muslim bombers off our streets’, according to The Guardian.

Some protesters attempting to cover their faces, sang ‘English and we’re proud of it’.

A group of around 30 police officers in fluorescent yellow jackets walked ahead of the procession as it snaked along Park Lane.

The rally ended in Waterloo Place, just off Pall Mall.

Police moved any potential troublemakers to a cordoned area at the top of the road.

Chants including ‘end the occupation now’ and ‘Israel is a terrorist state’ could be heard as the crowd set off on the march toward Pall Mall for their rally.

Organisers said the event had been held in the capital for the last 27 years without any trouble on the part of the demonstrators and were confident that would continue this year despite warnings by anti-Islamic groups. Continue Reading →

Student fined for Israel flag in Germany

Jerusalem Post… A local district court in the West German city of Bochum fined a student 300 Euros on Wednesday for displaying an Israel flag at a demonstration organized by Muslim organizations against the IDF Operation Cast Lead in January. According to Der Westen, a regional paper in Bochum, the public prosecutor termed the Israeli flag as “provoking” within a special situation.

The 30-year-old student, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she fears for her safety due to “massive problems with Nazis”, told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday that the “Israeli flag is a provocation for the anti-Semites.” She asked rhetorically, “What is provocative about an Israel flag?” The public prosecutor in Bochum was not available for an immediate comment on the case.

According to Der Westen, the local district court judged deemed the protest of the five activists expressing solidarity with Israel as a “dangerous situation.”

A spokesman for the district court, Volker Talarowski, told the Post that there was a “violation of the right to assembly” and the court’s decision was issued “independent of a political motivation.” Talarowski added that the pro-Israel demonstrators failed to register their protest 48 hours before the event.

Yet the student, who is appealing the fine, said a special regulation permits “spontaneous” demonstrations without a pre-registration. In response to a hardcore anti-Israeli demonstration in Bochum attended by 1,600 protesters on January 17, the student, along with four pro-Israeli activists, displayed a banner stating “Against anti-Semitism and fascism: Solidarity with Israel” as well as the Israel flag. She told the Post that pro-Palestinian supporters “compared Israel with Nazi Germany.” Chants of “children murderer Israel” and “Israel terrorist” filled the protest as well as a banner reading “stop the Holocaust in Gaza.”

“There is no basis” to draw a parallel between Nazi Germany and Israel, she said. “A Holocaust did not take place in Gaza. Israel defended its territory from rocket fire” emanating from Hamas, added the student. She termed the argument comparing the Israeli military operation in Gaza with the Holocaust as anti-Semitic.

In the Der Westen news report, the student said there is a “confusion of perpetrator and victim. You can only call that anti-Semitism.” She told the Post that the protestors in Bochum designated Israelis as Nazis and the Palestinians in Gaza as Jews during the Third Reich.

During Operation Cast Lead over 100,000 mainly German Muslims protested across German cities and frequently compared Israel with the Hitler movement. The European Union’s working definition of anti-Semitism defines such comparisons between the Nazis and the Jewish state as a modern manifestation of anti-Semitism, largely because the parallel delegitimizes Israel’s right to exist.
