Detroit terror attack: A murderous ideology tolerated for too long

Telegraph View: Jihadist Islamism is comparable to Nazism in many respects. The British public realises this; so do the intelligence services.

Friday’s attempt to blow up a transatlantic airliner by a British-educated Islamist was foiled by the bravery of its passengers and crew. We cannot assume that we will be lucky next time. And the indications are that there will be a next time. According to police sources, 25 British-born Muslims are currently in Yemen being trained in the art of bombing planes. But most of these terrorists did not acquire their crazed beliefs in the Islamic world: they were indoctrinated in Britain. Indeed, thousands of young British Muslims support the use of violence to further the Islamist cause – and this despite millions of pounds poured by the Government into projects designed to prevent Islamic extremism.

Is it time for a fundamental rethink of Britain’s attitude towards domestic Islamism? Consider this analogy. Suppose that, in several London universities, Right?wing student societies were allowed to invite neo-Nazi speakers to address teenagers. Meanwhile, churches in poor white neighbourhoods handed over their pulpits to Jew-hating admirers of Adolf Hitler, called for the execution of homosexuals, preached the intellectual inferiority of women, and blessed the murder of civilians. What would the Government do? It would bring the full might of the criminal law against activists indoctrinating young Britons with an inhuman Nazi ideology – and the authorities that let them. Any public servants complicit in this evil would be hounded from their jobs.

Jihadist Islamism is also a murderous ideology, comparable to Nazism in many respects. The British public realises this; so do the intelligence services. Yet because it arises out of a worldwide religion – most of whose followers are peaceful – politicians and the public sector shrink from treating its ideologues as criminal supporters of violence. Instead, the Government throws vast sums of money at the Muslim community in order to ensure that what is effectively a civil war between extremists and moderates is won by the latter. This policy – supported by all the main political parties – does not seem to be working. The authorities, lacking specialist knowledge, sometimes turn for advice to “moderate” Muslims who have extreme sympathies; supporters of al-Qaeda are paid to disseminate their ideology to young people.

Radical Islamist leaders are not stupid: they know how to play this system. The indoctrination of students carries on under the noses of public servants who are terrified of being labelled Islamophobic or racist. Therefore they fail to do their duty, which is to protect Muslims and non-Muslims alike from a terrorist ideology. If providing that protection requires fewer “consultations” with “community leaders” and more arrests, then so be it.

Flight 253: Pentrite, an Accomplice, and Cheers on 9-11

Our Flemish correspondent VH has collected and translated the latest Dutch-language material related to Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab and the attempted bombing of Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day, 2009. Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, a Nigerian Muslim terrorist, a son of the wealthy Islamic Banker hajj Umaru Abdul Mutallab (who had sixteen children)[1], wanted to blow himself up together with almost three hundred other people on board an aircraft approaching Detroit airport, as seems to have been announced in an Al Qaeda video days before (December 21)[2]. For this attack Mutallab made use of the explosive pentrite (pentaerythritol tetranitrate, or PETN). This substance is one of the major components of the dreaded semtex.

The reason explosives such as pentrite and semtex are so popular with terrorists is that they are relatively easily available on the free market and have an enormous destructive power. Moreover, these explosives cannot be detected by metal detectors and X-ray equipment, which are used as standard equipment during check-in at airports.

Modern 3D body scanning devices would easily be able to detect explosives such as were attached to the leg of Abdul Mutallab. But yes, cost and privacy, eh. In the Netherlands this is decisive. The government does not care[3] about a few hundred lives when some euros can be saved. Fortunately there are bold types like Jasper Schuringa (and brave cabin crews)[4] aboard threatened aircraft. Otherwise there would currently much sadder news to report.

To give an impression of what exploding pentrite may cause, here a few images of amateur experiments with this material: 8 grams, 20 grams and 250 grams. [And here when mixed with Ammonium nitrate. The Muslim terrorist had 80 grams of PETN on him, while 50 grams would be enough blow away part of the hull and sections of the wiring of an aircraft: here a video: 90g mixed with 200g ANFO.]

That this attack was planned for Christmas also gives a nice glimpse into the twisted minds of the Muslim fundamentalists. The Western authorities always exert extreme efforts to imprint in the indigenous bourgeoisie a display of respect for Muslim festivals and customs. But reciprocity will not be a part of this for a while yet, I fear.

So here we go again. Another international Islamic terrorist plot – and yet another British connection.

The attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to blow up an American plane was averted only by luck and courage.

The incident obviously raises alarming questions about gross lapses in security. In particular, how did Abdulmutallab obtain a U.S. visa when he had been on an American watch-list of people with known terrorist connections?

But the deeper and more urgent issue for Britain concerns the key role this country has once again played in a Muslim’s trajectory to radicalisation and terror. Abdulmutallab, who claims to have been working for Al Qaeda, was an engineering student at prestigious University College London for three years until 2008.

He was actually refused an entry visa to Britain earlier this year, but only because the institution at which he said he wanted to study turned out to be non-existent.

How, people might well ask, could such a radical have been educated in Britain without the authorities jumping on him?

Did MI5 know anything about him – especially since he was on a U.S. terrorism watch-list for two years?

As yet, we still don’t know much about this man’s history.

It appears he became a religiously extreme Muslim at a school in Togo, but was further radicalised while studying in London before apparently going to Yemen and linking to Al Qaeda.

Who can be surprised? After all, this is ‘ Londonistan’ – the contemptuous term coined by the French security service back in the Nineties as they watched Britain become the central hub of Islamic terrorism in Europe. Continue Reading →

Martin Mawyer, the founder of The Christian Action Network, and the man who made the movie, ‘Home Grown Jihad’ where the C.A.N. took hidden video of the goings on within domestic USA terrorist camps (at great personal risk) speaks to Nick Vandergragt of Ottawa Canada’s AM talk radio station CFRA 580 December 26th.

Martin and his organization should be listened to. They have a lot to say that needs to be known.

Readers of Vlad may remember that not long ago, the good people at the Christian Action Network asked us to upload some new film they had of the activities at ‘Islamberg’ New York.

The film is here

but I recommend looking for the documentary they made on the Jamat Al Fuqra terrorist training camps all over the USA and Canada called Homegrown Jihad. Here is the thirty five minute version.

So now it appears as if oddly, these camps are empty all of a sudden. Well, on first blush one might think all the exposure they got from the Christian Action Network’s film might have made them leave and try something else or maybe even give up altogether. Now this story from Family Security Matters which speculates otherwise:

The Case of the Missing Muslims: Why Is Islamberg Now a Ghost Town?

The Wall Street Journal reports this week that U.S. investigators are discovering that more and more young Muslims are vanishing from mosques, madrassas, and Islamic centers.
The disappearances, the Journal notes, are raising grave concerns among FBI and Homeland Security officials who fear that an onset of jihadist activity will take place on American soil in the near future.
Hundreds of Muslim men are also missing from Islamberg and this is not a propitious omen.
The sentry post is gone and no guards are in sight at the entrance to the 70 acre Islamic settlement located in the dense forest between Deposit and Hancock in upper New York State.
Young men in Islamic garb no longer congregate before the makeshift mosque, and no students are in attendance at the one room shack that serves as Sheikh Gilani’s “International Quranic Open University.”
Gunfire no longer can be heard from the firing ranges along the eastern parameter of the property – and no grunts come from new recruits at the obstacle course.
A new sign at the entranceway reads, “Welcome to Holy Islamberg: The International Quranic Open University.” Next to this sign, which features the image of a mosque emerging from the mountains, is a pot of plastic carnations. Another sign proclaims that the community is home to the “United Muslim – Christian Forum.”
Such statements of welcome are offset by the “No Trespassing” signs that have been nailed to trees throughout the compound.
On the opposite side of the road leading into the community is a rack of metal mailboxes bearing such names as Abdul-Haqq, Abdul Jalil, Mumim Roberts, Abdullah Simonds, and Salam Insan.
What has happened to this once bustling complex of radical Islamists – a place where the cries of muezzins were accompanied by the incessant rat-tat-tat of machine gunfire? Where are the Arab dignitaries that used to visit this remote community in chauffeur-driven limousines? Where are the armed sentries who warded away all intruders?
A handful of children play in the mud and muck before rows of rusty old trailers, and a few women in full burkas walk along the rutty dirt road that leads to the heart of the squalid Muslim compound.
The few residents who remain in the settlement are not environmentalists. Sewage seeps from septic tanks and outhouses into the creek that flows at the base of the settlement. Bags of rotting garbage remain stacked between the trailers. And the once pristine countryside is now littered with junk cars, moldy mattresses, empty tanks of propane, and old appliances.
Where are the men?
What has happened to this bustling center of jihadi training?
Why has Islamberg become a ghost town?
The same phenomenon of vanishing Muslim men is taking place at mosques, madrassas, and other Islamic communities throughout the country and at other Jamaat ul-Fuqra paramilitary compounds, including one in Red House, Virginia.
U.S. investigators have now discovered that many of the missing Muslims are showing up in the killing fields of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Somalia.
Five American Muslims recently were arrested in Pakistan following a raid at the home of a member of the Jaish-e-Muhammad, a Pakistani movement designated as a terrorist group by the U.S. Treasury Department in 2001.
The five American Muslims – identified as Ahmed Abdullah, Waqar Hassan Khan, Eman Hassan, Yasir and Rami Zamzam – were planning to join forces with the Taliban to fight the U.S.-led coalition forces in Afghanistan.
Zamzam is a graduate dental student at Howard University, where he served as president of the Muslim Student Association.
David Coleman Headley, another Muslim who disappeared, is a native of Chicago who attended Lashkar-e-Toiba-operated terrorism training camps in Pakistan and helped Lashker-e-Toiba members and others plan and execute the attacks in Denmark against the newspaper which published cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed, which Muslims found offensive, as well as the violent attack in Mumbai, in about 170 people died.
At the same time Headley was taken into custody, U.S. investigators discovered that 20 Somali immigrants, who were reported missing from a mosque in Minnesota, had joined the Islamist insurgent group, al Shabaab, and were engaged in fighting Somalia’s U.S.-backed government.
And there is the case of Najibullah Zazi, a 24-year-old resident of Denver, who made a trip to Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2008 for the stated purpose of visiting his wife only to show up at an al Qaeda training camp where he received instruction in making and detonating explosives. In September, Zazi was collared by federal officials as he made his way to New York City to carry out attacks with the same back-pack bombs that were used to blow up a train station in Madrid and several subway stations in London.
Where are the Muslim men from Islamberg?
The answer comes from a heavy-set woman in a long black burka who stops to check her mail box. “The men – all gone,” she says in halting English. “All – in Pakistan.”
Islamberg was established in 1980 by Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, a Pakistani cleric who served as the imam of the Yasin Masjid in Brooklyn. A quack practitioner of something called “Koranic psychiatry,” Sheikh Gilani presented himself to the Brooklyn congregation as “the sixth Sultan ul Faqr,” with a lineage that dates back to the prophet Mohammed. He claimed to have supernatural powers that came from his regular reception of visits by jinn and “non-human beings.”
Sporting ammunition belts, Gilani called upon members of a Black Muslim street gang known as Dar al-Islam (DAR) to take part in the holy war against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. Hundreds answered the call and headed off to training camps in Pakistan, which had been established by Osama bin Laden, and other members of the mujahadeen.
Under Gilani’s direction, the DAR transformed into Jamaat ul-Fuqra (“the community of the impoverished”) and continued its prison ministry under Muslims of the Americas, a new, non-profit corporation. The sheikh soon came to realize that it would be financially advantageous to train new recruits for the holy war on American soil rather than shelling out the freight of sending them to Lahore and Peshawar. He purchased a 70-acre parcel of land near Green Haven, set up a firing range and an obstacle course, purchased a slew of old single-wide trailers and created a paramilitary compound called Islamberg.
When released from the federal prison, former convicts now received not only the customary $10 and a suit of clothes but also a one-way ticket to Gilani’s compound.
What took place at Islamberg and the International Quranic Open University?
The answers came from Sheikh Gilani in his recruitment videos: “We give [students] specialized training in guerilla warfare. We are at present establishing training camps. You can easily reach us at Open Quranic offices in upstate New York or in Canada or in South Carolina or in Pakistan.”
Similarly, in a handbook, published by the university, Gilani wrote that the foremost duty of all students is to wage war against “the oppressors of Muslims.” The students are expected to sign an oath that reads: “I shall always hear and obey, and whenever given the command, I shall readily fight for Allah’s sake.”
Now that the recruits at Islamberg have been trained in the basics of guerilla warfare, they have been deployed to Pakistan for advanced courses in explosives and weapons of mass destruction.
They will be returning home soon.

Paris streets subtitled in English.

I spent the better part of Sunday at the local pub with a fellow who was able and willing to translate this 13 minute video that one of the bravest civilians in France shot, of Muslims taking over Paris streets for two and a half hours every Friday and attempting to justify it. I was very impressed that the seemingly lone photographer actually had the courage to ask the obvious questions. The answers, while dishonest, did reveal the truth of the agenda behind this take over. You can guess, it has little to do with religion. I would like to see these guys try this stunt in Riyadh for example.

The subtitles are a little hard to read so I reccomend watching in high def. That option should be here somewhere or you can always click through and watch at youtube where it should be easy to play in high-def it is is not here. Also, youtube only allows me 10 minutes. So I had to edit just over 3 minutes out of this version. If you want to see it in it’s entirety, I have posted the Vimeo version below but it may take some effort to read the titles on that one.

Here is a new video showing a discussion between a photographer/reporter trying to show how Muslims take over public sidewalks, and Muslim ‘security’ people claiming he has no right to film on a public sidewalk. I am working on finding a translator now and hope to have this video up with English titles soon. Thanks to Atlas for having this and H/T to Cloudberry for hipping me to it.

The Muslims take over the Paris streets for Friday prayers. They block off roads, put their rugs out on the sidewalk as well as the street, deprive shop owners of business for two and a half hours, deprive residents of the street from entering or leaving their apartments for that time. Look how aggressive they get with the camera man. (Note: no women.)

Montreal massacre anniversary special: Syed Soharwardy says battered woman is faking it!

I’ve written a couple of blog entries outlining the bigotry of Syed Soharwardy, Calgary’s most vicious terrorist-supporting Muslim radical. I won’t recap all of his hatred here — there’s just too much to treat it quickly — but go back and read the details in my earlier reports if you like. If I had to choose the most telling comment from Soharwardy’s anti-Semitic rants, I’d choose the page where he publishes this:

A great slaughter of the Jews will ensue and every one of them will be annihilated. The nation of Jews will be exterminated.

Not much wiggle room there. What the hell were Calgary’s Official Jews thinking by letting such a bigot co-sponsor their rally against anti-Semitism last month? And what the hell is Judy Shapiro, Calgary’s chief Official Jew, doing going to such a man’s propaganda “Hannukah Party” later this week?

I’ve written about Soharwardy’s bigotry and his other misconduct at his mosque before. Nearly two years ago, I received this laughable legal threat from his lawyer, to which I immediately replied: “let’s rumble“. I never heard back, which is too bad, because such a trial would have been a spectacular civic education for the city about the stealthy jihad against our values being perpetrated by Pakistani-born, Saudi-trained radicals like Soharwardy.

Well, I didn’t hear back from Soharwardy’s lawyer this time — I heard directly from the bigot-in-chief himself! I won’t give him the publicity of reprinting his whole rant, but let me choose two key passages.

The first is actually a pretty bold statement from the old Jew-hater. He doubles down, and says that everything he wrote on his websites is defensible. The call for the extermination of the Jews; the slanderous lie that the Talmud instructs Jews to murder Gentiles; the lovingly reprinted commentary from Muslim Brotherhood terrorist Al Qaradawi; the disparagement of the Jewish Holocaust, and the claim that Israel itself is perpetrating a Holocaust. Soharwardy doesn’t back down an inch from any of that. Instead, he writes:

I will be delighted to discuss with you the contents of any article on ISCC and related websites, which you seem to find Anti-Semitic.

I “seem to find” the call for the extermination of Jews to be anti-Semitic. He’d be “delighted” to make the case to me directly. Wow — sounds about as interesting as accepting an invitation from Jim Keegstra for a history lesson about the Holocaust.

The second point is just fascinating. As I’ve documented before, Robina Datt was a dissident at Soharwardy’s mosque. She asked pesky questions, like “where the hell did the donations go?”

So she was beaten to the point of hospitalization.

Islamburg makes video response to Christian Action Network

The organization, ‘Islamburg’ which the C.A.N. exposed as a Pakistani funded terrorist training camp with locations across America, made a video response to Martin Mawyer’s excellent and courageous film on their organization. As a courtesy to them, I allowed it to be posted as a video response on Vlad Tepes’s youtube channel. However, felt it was necessary to add a short introduction to their response although I did post their film intact other than that. First, the CAN film, and below, the Islamburg video response.

The fact that Ken Livingston is the main force behind this mosque should be enough to concern any true liberal.

If anyone who is reading this or watching this short clip has not already read the short book by Sam Solomon, The Mosque Exposed, it is very important that you do so, for a perspective on what this clip actually means. Even the producers of this clip at CBN do not seem to grasp the full import of it. Mosques are not, nor were they ever an analogue of a church or temple of any kind. They are a beach-head. A toe hold. They are a political and military incursion into an area with the express and exclusive purpose of establishing Islamic primacy and the use of Islamic sharia as the basis of jurisprudence, not just for Muslims but for all. This is not to say that Muslim prayers are not said in them, but the purpose is more political than religious from our frame of reference. From theirs, the distinction is meaningless.

A district judge questioned the character of a Muslim convert as he dismissed the case against husband and wife Christian hoteliers who she claimed had deeply offended her new-found religion.

Ericka Tazi, 60, who converted when she married a Muslim man, had claimed that Ben Vogelenzang, 53, had called her a terrorist and compared Muhammad to a warlord when she wore a hijab on the last day of her stay at the Bounty House Hotel in Liverpool last March.
She also claimed that his wife Sharon, 54, had told her that wearing such a garment represented a form of bondage, or oppression, in a finger-pointing and aggressive tirade that left her severely traumatised.
After a two-day trial Richard Clancy, a district judge sitting at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court, threw out the allegations, suggesting that Mrs Tazi’s version of events could not be relied upon and that she was not the religious person she presented herself as in the witness box.
The case is being seen as a victory for free speech and religious liberty by evangelical groups, notably the Christian Institute, which sponsored the couple’s defence costs. It is likely to cause widespread alarm in the Muslim community.
It also brought Dutch-born Mr Vogelenzang and his wife, who were accused of religiously aggravated threatening behaviour under Section 5 of the Public Order Act, to the brink of financial ruin. They have lost trade and feared they would have to sell their business.
To the cheers of evangelical supporters, Mrs Vogelenzang, standing beside her tearful husband, said: “We have been found innocent of any crime. It has been a very difficult nine months. We are looking forward to rebuilding our business and getting on with our lives.
“We would like to thank all those who have supported us, family, friends, Christians and non-Christians alike from around the world. As Christmas approaches we wish everybody peace and goodwill.”
The 15-minute incident happened after Mrs Tazi, who suffers from fibro myalgia, came down to breakfast at the hotel at the end of a four-week course on pain management at Aintee Hospital. She decided to wear her hijab, the traditional Islamic dress, in celebration.
Mrs Tazi, a mother from Warrington, Cheshire, claimed that Mr Vogelenzang was transformed into a “whirling dervish”, likened Muhammad to warlords down through the ages and asked her: “Are you a terrorist or a murderer?”
Mr Vogelenzang, giving evidence today, denied the allegation and, in turn, suggested that it was Mrs Tazi who had provoked the confrontation by stating that Jesus was a minor prophet and that the Bible was not true.
At one point Mr Vogelenzang broke down in tears. He said that at first he had thought Mrs Tazi a “nice person”.

His voice raised and shaking with emotion, he said: “I was mistaken because she wasn’t a nice person at all. She was not a loving person because she ratted to the police and she was trying to make us lose our business.”

Later Hugh Tomlinson, QC, the couple’s counsel, suggested that Mrs Tazi was no “shrinking violet” and that she had also become angry during the exchange.
It could not be objectionable under the laws of England for a person to believe that women in Islam are oppressed, he said. Even if it was said that Muhammad was a warlord, this also could not be deemed offensive.
Freedom to be inoffensive was not a freedom worth having, he said.
He said: “The fact that someone is upset or offended is not a reason for criminalising the speech used by the other person.”
Dismissing the case, Mr Clancy questioned Mrs Tazi’s version of events, which amounted to “fairly big differences as to what happened”.
“Giving evidence Ericka made a remark, after she had been provoked, using words to the effect, ’would you like me to get my breasts out and wear a short skirt and be pie-eyed?’ When in actuality what she said was ’would you prefer me to have my tits out, my skirt so short my backside is hanging out and getting rat-arsed?”
Mr Clancy also referred to her conversation with an ambulance driver in which she said: “They were taking the p*** out of me.”
He said: “It does not quite form the same religious view that was put to me on the stand.”
Mr Vogelenzang wiped away a tear and his supporters clapped, as the judge stated that he was not satisfied with the facts and threw out the case.
Outside the court Nicky Inskip, senior crown Prosecutor, defended the Crown Prosecution Service decision to bring the case under the banner of hate crime.
She said: “We were satisfied that there was sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction that a religiously aggravated offence should be charged. In considering the public interest factors in favour of a prosecution, we took into account the impact that the incident had on the victim.”
There has so far been little evidence that Mrs Tazi’s experience has echoed within the wider Muslim communities, especially across the northern conurbations. But a group of young female Muslim students, who attended the trial, said this may now only be a matter of time.
One 18-year-old medical student at Liverpool University, who asked not to be named, said: “People are shocked and angry. This decision is going to make them even more upset.
“Mrs Tazi just comes down for breakfast wearing a head scarf and they start racially abusing her. They have just dismissed it as if it is nothing.”

This is central to the whole issue. So many people still think Islam is some form of Christianity or Judaism. You can bet this machinery exists here today in any nation over 3 or 4 percent Muslims. There are no Jewish or Christian ‘police’ who’s job it is, to beat or kill any members of their own communities who do not conform to the letter of religious law. This is one of the most important articles I have posted in many weeks I think. It speaks to the actual policy and machinery of Islam in the West.

Sources in Spain’s Ministry of Interior express growing concern over the rise of Islamic law, known as sharia to Muslims, and the increase of Muslim separatism. In Spanish mosques, groups are emerging which promote Islamic judges and policing that have a growing influence over Muslims living in Spain. While this has long been known in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and France, it has now been detected in rural areas of Catalonia and in towns such as Tarragona, Gironés and Segarra.

The mosques in question are almost uniformly in the control of Salafist jihadis. Such jihadis have espoused separatism and violent struggle with the West at least since the 1980s.

Muslim clerics in Catalonia, for example, call upon the faithful to not befriend native Catalonians nor belong to Catalonian civic organizations. The imams demand that Muslims buy only “halal” food (e.g. meat slaughtered according to Muslim ritual), and that they avoid banks since these ostensibly violate Muslim abhorrence of usury. Muslim parents are warned to not allow their daughters to use the gymnasiums in the schools nor on any account should they use swimming pools.
