An important article on Iran by Melanie Phillips

I get a lot of material about Iran. I am on Reza’s email list and others and even local hardworking and under-appreciated ex-pat Persian activists (thank you Shab) tirelessly monitoring IRI websites and Facebook front groups for the IRI trying to shame Canada into changing its foreign policy to be more Iran friendly.

Most of it I skip as its a whole field in and of itself. As one person, even with the team of fantastic readers and volunteers who send in material all the time, its impossible to cover all the horror that is shaping the coming darkness we are starting to see the leading edge of on the horizon now.

So it is appreciated when there is a single, well written summary of the Iranian situation as it likely is. Melanie wrote this article in the aftermath of the startling panel show she did on UK TV Saturday, the relevant bit of which was posted here at Vlad.

My immigrant family were proud to assimilate. I despair that too many today expect Britain to adopt THEIR culture

A dividing world: The moment the Twin Towers collapsed, Melanie realised the West was facing something different from ordinary terrorism or war by one state on another

Like most people, I did not see 9/11 coming. But the moment the Twin Towers collapsed, I realised the West was facing something different from ordinary terrorism or war by one state on another.

This was more akin to a cancer in the global bloodstream. It had to be fought with all the weapons, both military and cultural, at our disposal.

‘This is where the world divides,’ I wrote. ‘Are you for us or against us? Are you prepared to do everything it takes to stand against terror, or are you going to succour it by word or deed?

America goes into the darkness

Melanie Phillips:

The greatest satisfaction today over the re-election of Obama is not being felt in the Democratic Party. It is not being felt among the media, who are no longer objective observers but have turned instead into corrupt partisans who ruthlessly censored the truth about Obama and helped peddle his demonising propaganda about his opponent. It is not being felt among the gloating, drooling decadents of the western left who now scent a great blood-letting of all who dare defy their secular inquisition. No, the greatest satisfaction is surely being felt in Iran.

With four more years of Obama in the White House, Iran can now be sure that it will be able to complete its infernal construction of a genocide bomb to use against the Jews and the west. World War Three has now come a lot closer.

It is said that, with likely gridlock in Congress over domestic issues, Obama will concentrate on foreign policy. We should all shudder. So far, Obama has empowered Iran to destabilise the region; supported Islamist takeovers in Egypt and Libya; is backing al Qaeda affiliates in Syria; refused to come to the aid of Americans being attacked by al Qaeda in Benghazi as a result of which four American officials were murdered; and hung Israel out to dry against its genocidal Palestinian attackers.

The game changer

Information has been coming out about this rather stunningly horrific scandal at a, dare I say it, ‘fast and furious’ pace. I haven’t posted a lot because much of it was redundant and much more was unverifiable material that only serves to muddy the waters of what is a very important story.

But when Melanie Philips posts something on it, you know it is well researched and worth your time and effort.

From Melanie Philips’ blog:

Published in: Melanie’s blog

Until now, such public attention as has been devoted to the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi on September 11, in which the US ambassador to Libya and three others were murdered, has dwelt upon whether President Obama had falsely blamed the attack on violent reaction to a film about Islam even though he knew from the start that this was in fact a premeditated attack by al Qaeda.

But now, far more devastating evidence has emerged that not only did he indeed know from the start it was a premeditated attack, but that for several hours after it started the White House refused to answer desperate pleas for help by American forces trying to defend the consulate – and who died as a result.

Despite CIA denials, Fox News reports that that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later on the annex itself was denied by the CIA chain of command — who also told the CIA operators twice to ‘stand down’ rather than help the ambassador’s team.

‘Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to “stand down,” according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to “stand down.”

‘Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

Did the Obama administration betray its own bin Laden informant?

Melanie Phillips:

Published in: Daily Mail

The jailing by Pakistan of the doctor who led the CIA to bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad is clearly an outrage. The Pakistani doctor, Shakil Afridi who has been thrown into prison for 33 years for treason, should be regarded instead as a national and global hero for helping run bin Laden finally to earth. His jailing – in a farcical ‘trial’ without a judge or his own lawyer — is the clearest demonstration that Pakistan, which the west treats as an ally against the Islamic jihad against the free world, is actually its enemy.

Melanie Phillips on Newt Gingrich and his statement on invented ‘Palestinians’

This is a partial article from Melanie Phillips. The rest can be read

here:

US presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich (whose Lazarus-like trajectory to the Republican nomination I flagged up here a month ago) has recently demonstrated yet again Melanie’s First Rule of Modern Political Discourse – the more obvious the truth that you utter, the more explosive and abusive the reaction.

For Gingrich said the Palestinian Arabs were ‘an invented people’ – and the world promptly started hurling execrations at him, as if such a statement proved beyond doubt that Gingrich was indeed a dangerously extreme individual who, when it came to political positioning, was just off the graph altogether.

So just what did he say? This:

Bigotry, revisionism and Baroness Warsi

This is a part of an article by Melanie Phillips from,

The Daily Mail

The co-chairman of Britain’s Conservative Party, Sayeeda Warsi, has delivered a speech about antisemitism to the European Institute for the Study of Antisemitism. I am sure that Baroness Warsi means well. I am sure that she is personally genuinely opposed to bigotry and prejudice in any form. I would therefore like to be able to say it was a fine speech. I cannot do so. Despite much in it that was worthy and unexceptionable, in one vital respect it was a travesty – made no more palatable by the fact that many Jews subscribe to precisely the same lethally misguided misapprehension.

This revolves around the comforting but mistaken notion that Jews and Muslims stand shoulder to shoulder against the same threat by racists and bigots. It’s the argument that says ‘antisemitism = Islamophobia’. And it’s the claim that there is nothing intrinsically threatening to Jews within Islam.

All three notions are false. All three notions are promoted by many Jews. All three were to be found in Baroness Warsi’s speech.

She said:

‘The ugly strain of anti-Semitism found in some parts of the Muslim community arose in the late 20th century. The point is that there’s nothing in our history which suggests that hatred between Muslim and Jews is inevitable.’

This is total rubbish. Muslim persecution of the Jews started in the 7th century with the birth of Islam and has continued ever since. It is true that down through the decades persecution of the Jews by Christians was more savage and barbaric than by Muslims. It is also true that there were periods when Jews prospered under Muslim rule. But the so-called ‘golden age’ for Jews in Muslim lands was very short indeed. The true history is a general story of humiliation, persecution and pogroms.

The great medieval Jewish philosopher Moses Maimonides, no less, was forced to flee his native Cordoba in Spain after it was conquered in 1148 by the Muslim Almohads, who gave the Jews a choice of conversion, death or exile. In his Epistle to the Jews of Yemen written in about 1172, Maimonides wrote of the news of compulsory conversion for the Jews in Yemen having ‘broken our backs’ and ‘astounded and dumbfounded the whole of our community’. The Arabs, he said, had ‘persecuted us severely and passed baneful and discriminatory legislation against us’. ‘Never did a nation molest, degrade, debase and hate us as much as they…’

Is there really ‘nothing which suggests that hatred between Muslim and Jews is inevitable’? This is what I wrote in my book, The World Turned Upside Down:

‘The Qur’an says Islam came before Judaism and Christianity, and was the faith practised by Abraham who was a Muslim. (3:67-68). It refers to Islam as the religion of Abraham many times (2:130, 135; 3:95; 4:125; 6:161.) It teaches that Jews and Christians corrupted their Scriptures so Allah sent a fresh revelation through Mohammed. This cancelled out Judaism and Christianity and brought people back to the one true religion of Islam that Abraham had practised.

‘After the Jews rejected Mohammed, the Qur’an says the Jews were cursed by Allah (5:78) who transformed them into monkeys and pigs as punishment (2:65, 5:60, 7:166). It accuses the Jews of corrupting their holy books and removing the parts that spoke of Mohammed (2:75, cf verses 76-79, 5:13). It says the Jews were the greatest enemies of Islam (5:82), that both they and the Christians want Muslims to convert (2:120), that the Jews start wars and cause trouble throughout the earth (5:64, cf verse 67) and even that they claim to have killed the Messiah (4:157).

Britain’s liberal intelligentsia has smashed virtually every social value

From The Mail Online:

By Melanie Phillips

Last updated at 8:33 AM on 11th August 2011

So now the chickens have well and truly come home terrifyingly to roost. The violent anarchy that has taken hold of British cities is the all-too-predictable outcome of a three-decade liberal experiment which tore up virtually every basic social value.

The married two-parent family, educational meritocracy, punishment of criminals, national identity, enforcement of the drugs laws and many more fundamental conventions were all smashed by a liberal intelligentsia hell-bent on a revolutionary transformation of society.

Those of us who warned over the years that they were playing with fire were sneered at and smeared as Right-wing nutters who wanted to turn the clock back to some mythical golden age.

Looters in Peckham. The riots have been fuelled by moral collapse says Melanie PhillipsLooters in Peckham. The riots have been fuelled by moral collapse says Melanie Phillips

Now we can see what they have brought about in the unprecedented and horrific scenes of mob violence, with homes and businesses going up in flames, and epidemic looting.

Clearly, there is some as yet unidentified direction and co-ordination behind the anarchy. But what is so notable and distressing is that, after the first day when adults were clearly involved, this mayhem has been carried out in the main by teenagers and children, some as young as eight.

The idea that they should not steal other people’s property, or beat up and rob passers-by, appears to be as weird and outlandish to them as the suggestion that they should fly to the moon. Continue Reading →

‘Baroness’ Warsi calls Melanie Phillips, “Mad Mel”

I thought this might be a good time to do some comparing. Here is the article where Warsi dares to call Melanie Phillips, ‘Mad’. If she meant angry, then she would of course be correct. Any sane British person should be good and angry at this point, their anger directly proportional to their sanity I would say. But I think she means ‘mad’ in the other sense. Bereft of reason. Let’s check that out. Here are some Phillips clips all from within the last year or so. Firefox users may have to click here to see the clip immediately below.

And another really excellent interview with Mel on Israeli TV:

And yet another where Melanie is called to task for calling the Itemar murderers, the people who butchered an entire Israeli family, man women, child and baby in their sleep, “savages”. Now if you can’t call that savage, then what exactly does the word mean, men who leave the toilet seat up?
