Ukip threatens action over debate
From the Hereford Times
The UK Independence Party has threatened legal action if the BBC does not allow the party to participate in Thursday’s televised leaders’ debate.
Party leader Lord Pearson of Rannoch has written to BBC director-general Mark Thompson arguing that the corporation is breaching its own election coverage guidelines by refusing to allow Ukip equal footing with Labour, Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats.
Lord Pearson said that if the BBC does not agree to allow him to participate in the debate by noon on Wednesday, Ukip will apply to the courts for a judicial review of the decision and injunction overturning the ruling. Continue Reading →

Pure postmodernism. Thieves break into prisons, rob inmates.
Thanks GAR for posting this. I have to say, I absolutely love the last line of this article. It is rather revealing of the leftist approach to crime. Of course the police and government have no idea how the thieves got into prison. Anyone who follows the court system and sentencing pretty much anywhere in the western world knows that every effort is made to make sure criminals do not go to jail.
Thieves break into Dutch prison to rob inmates
Thieves break into Dutch prison to rob inmates
Thieves have broken into a Dutch prison to steal the inmates’ televisions.
A number of prisoners from prison Het Keern in Hoorn were victim of a crime.
The thieves targeted a “modestly protected” minimum-security prison twice in the town of Hoorn. The thieves struck when the prisoners were on weekend furloughs, a justice ministry spokesman said. They broke open some cells and stole the prisoners TV screens.
The first burglary was in the weekend of 6 and March 7. The burglars climbed over the fence, forced a window next to an emergency staircase and called for the building. Despite a warning signal allowed the thieves escaped.
During the weekend of April 11th 1910 they did it again. The burglary was only discovered Monday when the prisoners were back in their cells. The guards had not noticed the crime before. Police suspect that the thieves had inside help.
Meanwhile, police have arrested one suspect, who himself is detained at the prison.
The government has been unable to say how the thieves managed to get inside the prison.
‘We Refuse to Be Muslims By Force’ Say Egyptian Christian Twin-Boys After Losing Court Case
(AINA)
— On March 30 an administrative judicial court in Egypt dismissed a lawsuit filed by Mrs. Camilia Lutfi, mother of the Coptic Christian twins boys Mario and Andrew, against the Interior Minister, and the director of the Civil Status Department for refusing to re-instate the Christian religion on their birth certificates, and invalidate those which were forcefully changed to “Islam” in 2005 by their father Medhat Ramsis Labib, who had converted to Islam.

After his conversion, Andrew and Mario became Muslims in what is called “Islamization by dependence,” by which children follow the religion of a converted parent (to Islam only) until they reach the age of puberty (fifteen), because Islam is “the best among all religions,” according to Egyptian Court rulings.
The purpose of Lutfi’s litigation was to restore back to her twins their identity as Christians, before reaching the age of 16 in June, when they will have their national ID cards issued. Camilia said that because of the developments in their case, her worst nightmares would materialize, in which they would have Islam as religious affiliation on their ID cards. “If they change to Christianity after that, they will be considered apostates,” she told Freecopts advocacy. She expressed her surprise at the intransigence of the judiciary in dealing with the issue of her sons, especially after they have already reached the legal age of 15-years, when they can choose their own religion. “The boys have lived this tragedy for the last ten years, through no fault of their own.”
ElYoum 7 Newspaper reported that 15-years-old Mario and Andrew were extremely disappointed with the court verdict, saying “faith is not by force, we want to remain Christians and we do not wish to become Muslims.” Both boys are practicing Christians and were consecrated last year as deacons in their regular church in Alexandria.
The court explained in its verdict, which was issued on April 14, that Camilia Lutfi has not presented a verdict from a relevant court (it did not say which court) proving the change of her sons’ religion from Islam to Christianity. “How come that when their father changed their religion from Christianity to Islam, he required no court verdict, and now that they want to revert back to Christianity, the court requires a verdict?” she told Freecopts. Somehow, that cretin Galloway is back in the news again.
Galloway is a two bit carny. He has a cheap dog and pony show that plays in the political sticks and thats it. About a year ago, Galloway pretended to be turned away from Canada and made himself into a free speech martyr even though in fact he never attempted to get in at all. His own government in the UK warned him that he might be denied entry in Canada because he violated the terrorism funding laws, which he did indeed do with great publicity and fanfare. Then, he tried to claim Canada turned him away for his political views.
Quite the load.
And now, he is attempting to get back in the limelight as a sort of martyr using Canada as his false flag.
Well I recommend you read three people on this, who have covered it rather well.
3. Terry Glavin, probably the most intelligent and if I may say, honourable journalist in Canada. He doesn’t write about a thing unless he has actually researched and understands it. He calls himself a leftist, but his views ultimately reflect the Jeffersonian liberalism of the current right wing rather splendidly as a result.
Here below is a clip from Blazing Cat Fur. I must say I remember when the CBC was a news organization to be proud of. Now, it sends out sneering, post modernist reporters versed only in critical theory. You can see clearly on her face her preconceived notions of who she is talking to, who she sides with, and what she thinks she knows.
Fjordman: Superstring Theory and Quantum Gravity
According to the models we currently operate with there are four basic forces at work in the universe: The strong and weak nuclear forces, electromagnetism and gravity. Of these, gravity is by far the weakest and is therefore more or less ignored when dealing with particles at the subatomic level, yet it is the most important force when dealing with the universe at large; both the strong and the weak nuclear forces act over extremely short ranges. As authors Neil F. Comins and William J. Kaufmann III state in Discovering the Universe, Eighth Edition:
“Their influences extend only over atomic nuclei, distances less than about 10?15 m. The strong nuclear force holds protons and neutrons together. Without this force, nuclei would disintegrate because of the electromagnetic repulsion of their positively charged protons. Thus, the strong nuclear force overpowers the electromagnetic force inside nuclei. The weak nuclear force is at work in certain kinds of radioactive decay, such as the transformation of a neutron into a proton. Protons and neutrons are composed of more basic particles, called quarks. A proton is composed of two ‘up’ quarks and one ‘down’ quark, whereas a neutron is made of two ‘down’ quarks and one ‘up’ quark. The weak nuclear force is at play whenever a quark changes from one variety to another….at extremely high temperatures the electromagnetic force, which works over all distances under ‘normal’ circumstances, and the weak force, which only works over very short distances under the same ‘normal’ circumstances, become identical. They are no longer separate forces, but become a single force called the electroweak force. The experiments verifying this were done at the CERN particle accelerator in Europe in the 1980s.”
The physicist Abdus Salam (1926-1996) from present-day Pakistan together with Sheldon Lee Glashow (born 1932) and Steven Weinberg (born 1933) from the United States shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for their work in this field. Following this, the Dutch accelerator physicist Simon van der Meer (born 1925) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1984 together with the Italian particle physicist Carlo Rubbia (born 1934) for work at CERN and for contributions to the discovery of the W and Z particles, short-lived subatomic particles.
Physicists have found that at sufficiently high temperatures, these various forces begin to behave in the same way. If you believe the current theoretical models, from the Big Bang until 10–43 seconds afterward, a moment which has been called Planck time, all the four forces are believed to have been united as one. Before the Planck time, the universe was so hot and dense that the known laws of physics do not describe the behavior of spacetime, matter and energy. At this point, matter as we think of it did not yet exist, but the temperature of the tiny and rapidly expanding universe may have been in the order of 1032 K. After this, gravity separated from the three other forces, which then separated from each other a little later. Continue Reading →
Islamic roots of the African slave trade. Fighting fiction with facts
Here is a video of Farrakhan spouting unfounded unsubstantiated historical revisionism about Jewish involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. This is pretty clear as to what it is. Again, it is just a guy holding a book and ranting. The facts of course are that Jewish people marched with Martin Luther King and where first and foremost in the civil rights movement in the US. Then below, please watch the expertly researched documentary on the Arab-Islamic roots of the African slave trade. The facts are clear and in good evidence.

Infantile and horribly offensive – the FO’s insult to the Pope is a dismal reflection of what Britain’s become
From Melanie Phillips.
Has someone been slipping some kind of illegal substance into the Foreign Office officials’ tea?
In preparing for the Pope’s visit to Britain later this year, British diplomats circulated a memo which put forward a bizarre and highly offensive list of ‘ideal’ ways in which Benedict XVI might occupy his time in Britain, as well as other events to mark his visit.
These included launching a range of ‘ Benedict’ condoms and inviting the Pope to open an abortion clinic or bless a gay marriage.
The diplomats also suggested he might launch a helpline for abused children, apologise for the Spanish Armada or sing a song with the Queen for charity.
???
Offence: Pope Benedict XVI is considering calling off his scheduled visit to Britain
Such gratuitous mockery has now created an acute diplomatic embarrassment for the British Government.
It has been forced to make a grovelling apology to the Vatican which, not surprisingly, takes an exceedingly dim view of this affair.
Indeed, the Pope’s advisers are reportedly regretting that he ever agreed to come to Britain at all.
For not only is he at the centre of raging criticism over the way the Church has dealt with paedophile priests, but he is being threatened with public protests and even arrest by militant atheists.
Given that he is also being accused of attempting to poach disaffected members of the Church of England, the papal visit is clearly a deeply sensitive matter requiring the maximum diplomatic skill.
Yet the response by the representatives of Her Majesty’s Government has been effectively the equivalent of an obscene gesture.
So what on earth has got into the normally bland-to-a-fault Foreign and Commonwealth Office?
Apparently, the proposals were made by a group of junior officials, one of whom has now been hauled over the coals. This raises more questions than it answers.
How junior is junior? The Vatican insists these officials were more senior.
The disciplined official is said to have been ‘transferred to other duties’. Other duties than what, precisely, apart from insulting the Pope? Why haven’t all the officials involved been sacked?
After all, how can diplomats who have shown such an astonishing lack of judgment or propriety, not to say an eye-watering absence of diplomatic skills, continue to be employed in their country’s foreign service?
If they’d proposed something like this about South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma or Syria’s President Assad, for example, does anyone doubt that their heels would not have been seen for dust?
So, at the highest levels in the Foreign Office — which are said to be ‘appalled’ — it would appear that insulting the Pope doesn’t really matter as much as insulting the corrupt or the tyrannical.
In any event, what does this say about the FCO that it employs people who do such a thing? Once upon a time, it recruited the brightest in Whitehall who had to pass a demanding entrance test to qualify.
Yet apart from their insults, these officials appeared to believe — vacuously — that the singer Susan Boyle was a more influential person for the Pope to meet than the Archbishop of Westminster Vincent Nichols, the most senior Catholic in Britain.
Some in the Catholic Church are dismissing all this as a joke, a kind of internal office prank that somehow got out of hand.
On first reading, this is certainly how it seems. After all, surely no one could have put forward in all seriousness suggestions which read like a Monty Python sketch.
One retired diplomat, commenting on the furore, has written that those who have been shocked by this document are suffering from a ‘sense of humour failure’, since this was merely the kind of in-joke that is made all the time among diplomats.
The only thing wrong with it was that, through some oversight, it was circulated too widely.
The orthodoxy is a world view in which minorities are axiomatically to be respected while Christianity is treated with contempt Continue Reading →

A cruise missile in a shipping box on sale to rogue bidders
From The Telegraph:
Defence experts are warning of a new danger of ballistic weapons proliferation after a Russian company started marketing a cruise missile that can be launched from a shipping container.

It is feared that the covert Club-K missile attack system could prove “game-changing” in fighting wars with small countries, which would gain a remote capacity to mount multiple missiles on boats, trucks or railways.
Iran and Venezuela have already shown an interest in the Club-K Container Missile System which could allow them to carry out pre-emptive strikes from behind an enemy’s missile defences.

Defence experts say the system is designed to be concealed as a standard 40ft shipping container that cannot be identified until it is activated.
Priced at an estimated £10 million, each container is fitted with four cruise anti-ship or land attack missiles. The system represents an affordable “strategic level weapon”.
Some experts believe that if Iraq had the Club-K system in 2003 it would have made it impossible for America to invade with any container ship in the Gulf a potential threat. Continue Reading →

KABUL – More than 80 schoolgirls have fallen ill in three cases of mass sickness over the past week in northern Afghanistan, raising fears that militants who oppose education for girls are using poison to scare them away from school.
The latest case occurred Sunday when 13 girls became sick at school, Kunduz provincial spokesman Mahbobullah Sayedi said. Another 47 complained of dizziness and nausea on Saturday, and 23 got sick last Wednesday. All complained of a strange smell in class before they fell ill.
None of the illnesses have been serious, and medical officials were still investigating the exact cause. The Health Ministry in Kunduz said blood samples were inconclusive and were being sent to Kabul for further testing.
Sayedi blamed the sickness on “enemies” who oppose education for girls. Presidential spokesman Waheed Omar said any attempt to keep girls out of school is a “terrorist act.” Continue Reading →

The Price is Right
“It is a scandal that the bartering of a girl can go unnoticed in the middle of Germany.”
Here’s the latest news from modern multicultural Germany. The article below is from Friday’s Der Spiegel, and was kindly translated for Gates of Vienna by JLH:
Bride-Price in Berlin
April 23, 2010
Interview by Anna Reiman
Without a Doubt, This Is Trade In Human Beings
Parents of Kurdish origin are said to have sold their 15-year-old daughter to the family of her future husband for €15,500. An active practice right in the middle of Germany, explains women’s rights expert Myria Böhmeke in a Spiegel-Online interview.
Spiegel: Mrs. Böhmeke, it is said that in Berlin, after the conclusion of the marriage contract, Kurdish parents sold their daughter, Jasmin, to the husband’s family for €15,500. Since then, the 15-year-old, who is pregnant, has separated from her husband. He is said to have beaten her. Is it an exception for Muslim families in Germany to pay a bride price? Böhmeke: No, in my experience it is not unusual. Exact figures are difficult to develop, because the girls who are forced into marriage and register with “terre des femmes” often do not know whether money was paid or not. The groom’s family pays the money for, among other things, the loss of a worker in the family. Spiegel: Can the bride price be of any use to the woman, if, for instance, she leaves her husband? Böhmeke: Originally, the bride price was thought of as a security for the woman, in case of a separation. The women often bought jewelry with it. Since then, it has frequently benefited the family. Spiegel: Berlin SPD politician, Bilkay Öney, claims to be shocked by Jasmin’s case. She says: “Buying a bride is taboo in Europe. I don’t care to think about anything like that. That doesn’t even exist in Turkey.” Is this a realistic judgment? Böhmeke: Completely false. Forced marriages are still widespread in Turkey. And frequently money changes hands. Underage girls are often married, even though it is forbidden in Turkey as in Germany. In such cases, the marriage contract is executed in a religious framework. As soon as the girl is of age, the “official” marriage takes place. And payment does not just take place in the Islamic societies. There is also often a substantial money payment in India. Spiegel: Jasmin’s family seems to be well integrated. Her father is with the fire department and her brother is a policeman. That seems to make the case so much more incomprehensible. Böhmeke: No. There is not necessarily a connection between current indicators of integration and consciousness of women’s rights. It often happens that girls who call “terre des femmes” for help appear to be models of integration, speak perfect German, and go to school.
