STOCKHOLM –  Three men were charged Tuesday with plotting to stab to death a Swedish artist who has faced numerous threats from Muslim extremists for depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a dog.

The men, ages 24 to 26 and of Somali and Iraqi origin, were arrested in the city of Goteborg on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the United States.

According to the charges, the suspects were planning to use knives to kill Lars Vilks, whose 2007 drawing of Muhammad offended many Muslims and rekindled a debate over free speech and Islam that raged a year earlier when a Danish newspaper printed 12 caricatures of the prophet.

Images of Muhammad, even favorable ones, are considered blasphemous by many Muslims.

The evidence included wiretapped phone conversations between the suspects and a note pad belonging to one of them, prosecutor Agnetha Hilding Qvarnstrom said. Continue Reading →

Blinded by acid, now denied compensation for showing her attacker mercy

A woman blinded and horrifically disfigured in an acid attack by a spurned admirer is suing Iran’s judiciary after accusing senior officials of cheating her out of compensation when she agreed to spare her attacker from a similar fate.

Ameneh Bahrami, 34, suffered severe injuries to her eyes, face and hands when a former university classmate, Majid Movahedi, threw acid in her face after she rejected his advances. In November 2008, a criminal court in Tehran ordered Movahedi to be blinded in both eyes under Iran’s application of the sharia code of qisas, which allows retribution for violent crimes.

But he was given an eleventh hour reprieve in July when Ms Bahrami exercised her right to pardon him. Prison officials had been preparing to drop acid into his eyes when the pardon was delivered. Continue Reading →

Who is more totalitarian, Afghanistan, or the EU?

This story makes me rather ill. To recap so far,

A Danish film maker does a documentary about Afghanistan and women’s (lack of) rights there.

Her film is then banned by some (until now) unelected faceless bureaucrat at the European Union because he is afraid of making the Afghan justice system look bad. The exact point of the fifth estate is in fact, to expose the horrors of government institutions and even private ones, so the EU banning a documentary for telling the truth strikes me as every bit as bad as what the Afghans are doing to their women. Worse in that Afghan women know they can expect this at least.

The subtext the EU bureaucrat uses, is that it might endanger the life of the young woman languishing in an Afghan jail. At least the EU was smart enough to make-up a reason that would be more palatable to those EUropeans still living in the gossamer-thin illusion that they live in a democracy.

Next, the Danish film maker goes back to Afghanistan where she says quite clearly that she wants Europeans to see her in jail, to know what happened to her specifically to embarrass the Karzai government in the hopes something will change. Again, this is the entire point of mass media. This woman could have been a student of Thomas Jefferson.

This of course shows that there is only one reason the EU bans the documentary. To not make Islam or Islamic law look bad, merely because it is bad. The EU does not lift the ban even though the victim explains how much she wants this information to get out.

Now, the Afghan government is offering her a ‘get-out-of-jail early card if she marries her rapist.

Watch the EU bureaucrat explain why he banned a film for all Europeans. Clearly Western EUrope lost the cold war. Truth, takes a distant back seat to convenience for a few.

Pigs, mosques and the rules of magic.

I wish I could remember all the times that the issue of stopping mosque construction has been discussed just to have someone or other interject that all that needs doing is burying parts of pigs or pig products and the ground has been desecrated and no mosque can be built there.

My position has always been that this must be patent nonsense. For one thing, one should never use the rules of the enemy when fighting them. Especially when they make those rules up as they go along. I mean surely if they can make up a rule, assuming of course that one such rule actually exists in the first place, they can make up a fix for it. Think of any video game that uses magic. ‘Your spell stops me from building a castle but my magic shield blocks your spell’ sort of thing. If these people believe in ‘Allah’ and Djinn and demons and devils and all sorts of magic and superstition then surely they can mumble a few words over the pig-soaked soil and start pouring a foundation.

That is of course, if any of that is even necessary at all. My guess would be they would just charge the guy with a hate crime and a health code infraction and build the damn thing.

Then an interesting thing happened. I saw a story about a proposed mosque in Switzerland where a person-or-persons-unknown went to town on the lot with 4 pig heads, a pig and I think, some pig blood as well. Clearly someone ate the gelatin on the idea that you could stop a mosque that way. One would imagine that the fact that they bought the land under false pretenses alone would be enough, but it seems someone wanted to go the ‘magic’ route instead and throw the old pig-skin around instead. (Which begs the question. Can Muslims play football?) I mean lets face it. If this works, then we could deal with Iran using the cheapest military campaign in human history. Overfly the holy city of Qom with a Hercules transport carrier filled with bacon bits and drop it like pink snow. That’l learn em.

It would appear that this was done in 2006 and the mosque was never built. Now of course, correlation is not causation. The owner may not have the money, there could be zoning issues, there could be any number of reasons why this mosque still has not been built. But it hasn’t.

It will be most interesting to watch and see if this has any effect at all. I have my doubts personally. But it will be interesting to see.

Female Candidate for Egyptian Parliament: ‘Women are Deficient in Intelligence’ and it is ‘Not Permissible for Them to Be in Authority’

In what seems a rather counterproductive statement for a woman seeking political office — a position of “authority” — to make, one female Egyptian parliamentary candidate made the damning affirmation that women are “deficient” in both “intelligence and religion” and thus it is “impermissible” for them to hold positions of authority.

One wonders how Muna Salah reconciles her own candidacy for higher office then. Well, according to Translating Jihad, Salah justifies her parliamentary bid by asserting the role would grant her “partial” rather than full authority. If elected, Salah seeks to implement Shariah law.

A female salafi candidate for Egyptian Parliament, Muna Salah, said to al-Sharq al-Awsat that women are deficient in intelligence and religion, and it is not permissible for them to be in authority or to occupy the office of the presidency. She defended her candidacy for the People’s Council, saying that acting as a representative in the Council is only partial authority and not complete authority, such as the presidency of the republic. She added that she seeks to apply the Islamic shari’a, including cutting off the hands of thieves, preventing the mingling of men and women, and specifying black clothes for women and white clothes for men.

Translating Jihad also points out that Salah‘s belief in a woman’s lack of intelligence and religion comes from somewhere — and that she is in fact quoting directly from Muhammad, as recorded in Sahih al-Bukhari:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Once Allah’s Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o ‘Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, “O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).” They asked, “Why is it so, O Allah’s Apostle ?” He replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you.

Pretty much every day and sometimes several times a day, my website has come under heavy DDOS fire. I presume by a group that just doesn’t like what we say or think here. Hard to say cause they aren’t discussing any issues, offering any proof of why we are wrong, and certainly not identifying themselves or who they represent although the attacks often contain a search for ‘Islam’

So I thought I would make a peace offering to those guys attacking us. I hope they enjoy it as much as we did making it.

Armed men stoned and shot dead a widow and her daughter in Aghanistan after the Taliban accused the women of ‘moral deviation and adultery’, according to reports.

The killing happened on Thursday in the Khawaja Hakim area of Ghazni city, the BBC reported, and two men have now been arrested.

Officials – who blamed the Taliban for the attack – told the Corporation that armed men went into the house where the two women lived, took them to the yard outside and they were stoned and then shot.

Death threats force French ‘Mohammed’ paper offline

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find that it was the same primitive savages who attacked this blog yesterday with a DDOS attack originating out of Amsterdam, who also attacked the ISP below. I say primitive savages because a savage can easily direct an aircraft at a building, for example, while a civilized person can construct either or both and have them work in harmony till the savages get a hold of them.

The website of the French satirical weekly that was firebombed after publishing images of the Prophet Mohammed was offline Thursday because of death threats against the Belgian company hosting it.

Host Bluevision took Charlie Hebdo’s site offline after it was the victim of a cyberattack following Wednesday’s issue featuring Mohammed as “guest editor” and has remained offline after the company received death threats.

Bluevision “doesn’t want to put it back online (because) they received death threats,” charliehebdo.fr’s editor Valerie Manteau told AFP.

“Either the police reassure them and we manage to convinced them to put it back online, or we change host.”

Charlie Hebdo’s Paris offices were firebombed early Wednesday after it published a special Arab Spring edition with Mohammed on the cover as “guest editor” saying: “100 lashes if you don’t die of laughter!”

The newspaper’s website was also hacked, with its regular home page replaced with a photo of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and a message reading: “No god but Allah”.

French news site nouvelobs.com said the cyberattack was carried out by Turkish hacker group Akincilar, which said it took the action to “fight against a publication that attacks beliefs and moral values.”

Manteau said that Charlie Hedbo’s Facebook page would soon be closed to outside comments after thousands vented their anger over the weekly’s “Sharia Hebdo” edition, including by making death threats.

“Police are collecting the data of those who have posted death threats,” said Manteau. “As soon as they’ve finished, we will close the comments page.”

Saudis behead another ‘wizard’.

I would flunk this guy if I was dean of Hogwarts. What kind of a wizard can’t stop his own beheading?

None of that though, is meant to take away from the primitive, superstitious, absurd, vicious barbarism of the Saudis and their religion, Islam. Tomorrow is Halloween. I would hope that all free thinking people who are deciding to dress as a Wizard or witch or any related identity, consider trick or treating past the Saudi Embassy or community center or mosque and shake your wand at them. Just once. We need to let these intolerant bastards know that we find that kind of action, the public beheading of someone they accuse of the impossible in a parking lot, as unacceptable.
