Deafening silence from Muslim groups in west: Tarek Fatah

From The National Post:

Now that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned ordinary Iranians not to stage street protests, the risks these demonstrators face at the hands of the state security machinery and the Islamist Basiji militia, cannot be underestimated. However, as the courageous Iranian people defy state oppression to demand democracy and freedom, the Islamic organizations of North America have been conspicuous by their silence.

There has been not one word of support for the Iranian people from CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), MSA (Muslim Society of America) and MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Council).

The only exception has been the Muslim Canadian Congress (MCC) that issued an early statement denouncing the rigging of the elections and demanded that so-called supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei step down. Continue Reading →

Msg to Obama: Time for a war on ‘youths’. Montreal riots

Ok. Let me add two things together justly or not before I paste this article from the Montreal Gazette. First, by definition, youths are, well young. Typically that’s what ‘youth’ mean. However in this article, EVERYONE who was arrested, and presumably participating in these riots is OVER EIGHTEEN. The article however refers to them repeatedly as “youths”.

So now the second factor in this equation:

When in fashion minorities behave in an antisocial way in Europe the media seems to be under self censorship or in some cases government instructions to refer to the perpetrators as ‘youths’ instead of say, oh Muslims if that happens to be the case. Typically, you can tell if they are Muslims if adults are arrested, an adult in this case would be over eighteen, and not named whereas if they are white Canadian you will always read the name of whoever the police bring in. If the criminals are black typically you get a name and no description. I know I am sticking my neck way out here, but I begin to think that world media uses the term ‘youth’ to mean Muslim. If I am wrong in this case, the fault lies with governments and with media organizations that deliberately execute policies which attempt to keep the general public in the dark and therefore make us have to guess at the truth and facts of events which effect us all.

If Muslims are not responsible for the various riots and anti social acts around the world then for the love of good community relations start telling us who is doing these things. I refuse to believe that the problem is youth. Especially when, as in this story, most of those people arrested are old enough to have kids of their own at school.

From The Montreal Gazette:

Nine arrested in Montreal North melee

MONTREAL – Police arrested nine people on charges of assault with a weapon, trespassing, vandalism and public mischief Tuesday night after dozens of youths gathered in a Montreal North park hurled objects at police and went on a rampage in the neighbourhood, breaking windows and damaging cars.

Those arested are all over the age of 18, police said.

Police went to Carignan Park, at the corner of Rolland Blvd. and Renoir St., around 10 p.m. after getting a call about a fight.

It was the second call of the evening about a fight at the park, Montreal police Constable Daniel Lacoursiere said.

By the time police arrived, the fight had broken up but there were 50-75 youths near the basketball courts, he said.

Police remained on the scene as a preventive measure, Lacoursiere said.

The youths then started to throw rocks and bottles at the officers, and police cleared the park.

Some of the youths took to the streets, vandalizing cars, homes and a school in the area.

One officer was slightly hurt while making an arrest, Lacoursiere said.

UPDATE: seven arraignments made of legal adults, NO NAMES GIVEN:

Mathilde Pagé, 22, and mother to a Montreal North pre-schooler, was still unsettled yesterday after having witnessed a rock-throwing mêlée in Carignan Park from her apartment window late Tuesday night.

“Of course, I’m worried” about how the next months will play out in the district, she said. “It isn’t even summer yet – and this happens.”

Seven men were arraigned at the Montreal courthouse yesterday on charges ranging from assault to attempted murder, in the wake of the violent confrontation at the corner of Rolland Blvd. and Renoir St. that thrust the district back into the public spotlight. Kept in detention, all are to appear in court today for bail hearings. Five are in their 20s. Two are 19-year-old twins.

Pagé, a Quebec City native, said she was attracted to the area by “nice parks, lots of children and pretty good rents.” But, she added, “the young people lack respect for the police and police also lack respect for the young people.

“We don’t want to leave our apartment after 9 (p.m.)”

The 530-student Le Carignan elementary school adjacent to the park is “in a hot zone,” said Jean-Yves Cardin, one of the school’s music teachers.

Less than 24 hours earlier, dozens of youths had hurled objects at police and gone on a rampage, breaking windows and damaging cars.

“But people have too much of a tendency to stereotype Montreal North,” Cardin said. As proof, he pointed to an ambitious musical presented last night – and again tonight at 7 p.m. – by 200 children from the school, in the Maison Culturelle communautaire de Montréal North, north of the park at 12004 Rolland. It’s next to the parking lot at Henri-Bourassa Park where Fredy Villanueva was shot and fatally wounded by a Montreal police officer last August.

Cardin’s lively stage cast of 200 youngsters (ages 6 to 11) is backed with 50 musicians and a fancy light show. The production, L’étrange grenier (The Unusual Attic), tells a tale of toys that come to life after being abandoned by a rich child, and is woven with themes on consumerism, social disparity and abandonment.

Two 15-year-old girls sitting in the park said area police treat young people differently, depending on skin colour.

“When we are two or three or four blacks or Latinos sitting together, then the cops stop and ask questions,” said Johanne Lespinasse, who is black.

“When they are white, the cops pass right by,” said her friend, Krystine D’Amato, who is white.

The two describe themselves as best friends.

Mich.: Witnesses May Have To Remove Veil

Ginnah Muhammad and lawyer Nabih Ayedfrom CBS News

The Michigan Supreme Court voted Wednesday voted to give judges authority over how witnesses dress in court after a Muslim woman refused to remove her veil while testifying in a small claims case.

A statewide court rule letting judges regulate the appearance of witnesses, such as asking them to remove face coverings, was approved by a 5-2 vote. The dissenters said there should be an exception for people whose clothing is dictated by their religion.

Justices heard last month from a Muslim woman who sued because her small claims case was dismissed when she refused to remove her veil.

Hamtramck District Judge Paul Paruk told Ginnnah Muhammad he needed to see her face to judge her truthfulness. The 45-year-old from Detroit kept her niqab on during the 2006 hearing.

“If state courts can require people to remove their veils to get their driver’s license photos, they can require people to testify without a veil absent some extraordinary circumstance,” said CBS News legal analyst Andrew Cohen.

“The reason we don’t see many of these stories is that it’s absolutely fundamental in a trial for the judge and jurors and defendants to see the facial expressions of a witness who is testifying, unless that witness is in mortal danger of being identified,” said Cohen, so I think this challenge will fail.”

Some Muslim leaders interpret the Quran to require that a woman wear a headscarf, veil or burqa in the presence of a man who is not her husband or close relative.

After Muhammad sued the judge, the Michigan Judges Association and Michigan District Judges Association pressed a court rule that gave judges “reasonable” control over the appearance of parties and witnesses to observe their demeanor and ensure they can be accurately identified.

“No First Amendment right is absolute,” said Cohen, “and this one bends to other amendments which protect a defendant’s right to a fair trial, which includes allowing the judge and jury to measure the facial expressions of witnesses. So this ruling is NOT a surprise, nor particularly controversial.”

The two justices who voted against the rule Wednesday said they favored a religious exception endorsed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan and religious groups.

Muhammad originally went to court to contest a $3,000 charge from a rental-car company to repair a vehicle that she said thieves had broken into.

The Detroit area is home to one of the country’s largest Muslim populations. Legal observers have said the veil flap is a cutting-edge issue that will arise elsewhere in the United States.

Ottawa Citizen: Only 13, but in trouble once again

Tony Spears examines the rocky childhood of an Ottawa boy arrested in a bank heist last week.

H/T Grace:

The boy was six years old when he had his first brush with authority. He climbed a tree and couldn’t — or wouldn’t — climb down. The fire department came to his rescue that day. Nobody has been able to rescue him since.

Last Tuesday, at age 13, the boy was arrested. Police stopped him in a car with four buddies as they fled the third bank they had allegedly robbed that day. His age was not the only thing that stood out in the police report: he was the only one to face weapons charges and he was also fingered as a suspect in an earlier bank robbery.

Not long after the boy was born, his mother met a man who had become a zealous convert to his own heartless brand of Islam. He forced the boy’s mother, who was studying at the University of Ottawa, to drop out, don the hijab and obey him.

The stepfather was violent. The boy’s 15-year-old sister remembers the stepfather beating the boy, then tying him to a pole in the basement where he was left in the dark for hours. The mother was whipped with a skipping rope, and the sister remembers waking up to the stepfather’s belt bruising the tender skin of her inner leg. The stepfather kept her home for days until the wound healed, afraid the community would discover the darkness lurking beneath his warm public persona.

Jason’s grandfather urged the boy’s mother to tell someone, but she feared her partner would kill her. Continue Reading →

Arabic Christian group sues City of Dearborn after police restrict its First Amendment rights

By Robert Spencer from Jihad Watch:

I received this email from my attorney, William Becker. It is a sad day when American law enforcement officials restrict the First Amendment rights of Americans in order to accommodate Muslims. As you know, Dearborn, Michigan, features the most highly concentrated population of Muslims in the nation. My clients, Arabic Christian Perspective (ACP), and Pastor George Saieg attend the annual Arab International street festival there every year handing out Christian material to Muslims. They do this along the public sidewalks that run along the street, where the festival is conducted. It is open to the public and admission is free. Business establishments along the street remain open during the festival. It is a bold thing to do, but in the five years ACP has been going there, it has never encountered any problems. Now, the Dearborn Police Department has asked ACP to stand on a single corner, where they will be unable to freely mingle with festival gatherers and unable to reach their intended audience. This is a violation of its First Amendment rights. The Thomas More Law Center, based in Ann Arbor, has agreed to assist me in this matter. Today they filed a complaint, and sent a letter to the city attorney. I will keep you post

Police arrested a 36-year-old male for drunk driving during a traffic stop Sunday night.

Police also found small amounts of marijuana in his car when they stopped his car on Highway 401 near Morrisburg, about 80 kilometres south of Ottawa. He has been charged with several offences, including impaired driving, possesion and failure to provide a breath sample. He will appear in Morrisbury court on August 4.

18-year-old charged with breakin in Berwick

An 18-year-old man faces mischief and break and enter charges after an attempted break-in Saturday morning

Police say the man tried to kick in the garage door of a home in Cockburn St., Berwick, Ont., 60 kilometres south-east of Ottawa. OPP arrested the 18-year-old a short distance from the residence.

He will appear in a Cornwall court July 28.

OTTAWA — Ottawa police are investigating an overnight stabbing near the Baseline Transit Station.

Police were called to the scene at 12:47 a.m. Monday and found a 17-year-old male who had been stabbed.

He underwent surgery for a punctured lung, but his wounds are not considered life-threatening and he was listed in stable condition Monday morning.

Police say the attack occurred on NCC land adjacent to the Transitway.

No arrests have been made and police are asking anyone with information to call West Division police at 613-236-1222 ext. 2212 or Crimestoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).

Monday’s stabbing comes on the heels of a stabbing on an OC Transpo bus Friday afternoon that sent a 29-year-old man to hospital with a collapsed lung. That attack occurred on a No. 12 bus near Blair and Montreal roads. A young woman was arrested shortly after that attack.

Ottawa car chase ends in backyard

OTTAWA – Police have arrested two men after a high speed chase up Bank Street came to a crashing halt when the stolen dark green car plunged through a fence and into the backyard of an area home.

Paul Gallien was rollerblading when he saw the vehicle blowing by cars on Bank Street, south of Alta Vista Drive, with two police cars in hot pursuit.

As it approached Heron Road the car swerved through the Tim Horton’s on the south-east corner, narrowly missing one man whose clothes were ruffled by the car’s wake, Gallien said. He saw the car briefly became airborn as it crossed a grassy embankment before merging east on to Heron Road.

One block later the car turned south on Edge Hill Place, where it spun out and crashed into the backyard of the house on the south-east corner of Edge Hill and Anoka Street.

Police arrested one man in the car, and the other in a park one block south of the crash.

Police found items in the car they say are linked to an earlier break-in in the Bank and Heron area.

No one was injured in the chase

Carter honored by Palestinians

MIDEAST ISRAEL PALESTINIANS CARTER

from the Associated Press

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was honored by the Palestinian government Saturday and pledged to support the Palestinians’ campaign for independence to the end of his days.

In his acceptance speech, Carter urged the Palestinians to end their internal divisions and stop persecuting their rivals.

He was referring to the growing rift between the Islamic militant Hamas group, which controls Gaza, and Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in charge of the West Bank. Each side has been cracking down on the other’s supporters, particularly since Hamas violently overran Gaza two years ago.

Carter met with Hamas’ exiled leadership in Syria on Thursday and is to head to Gaza on Sunday, after meeting with Israeli officials. Carter has said peace between Israel and the Palestinians is impossible without involving Hamas, but reiterated in Syria that he was not representing the Obama administration.

Hamas is being shunned by most of the international community, including the U.S., for refusing to recognize Israel or renounce violence, though Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal has said repeatedly in recent weeks that his group wants to be part of a Mideast solution.

In the West Bank, Carter was awarded the Palestine International Award for Excellence and Creativity. Previous recipients included two former international envoys, James Wolfensohn and Peter Hansen.

Carter brokered the Israeli-Egypt peace accord of 1979 and several years ago wrote a book, “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid,” that is sharply critical of Israeli policies in the occupied territories.

“I have been in love with the Palestinian people for many years,” he said Saturday, adding that this is a feeling shared by members of his family.

“I have two great-grandsons that are rapidly learning about the people here and the anguish and suffering and deprivation of human rights that you have experienced ever since 1948,” he said.

Referring to President Barack Obama’s call for an Israeli settlement freeze, Carter said that “in the future, I am sure, he will call for the dismantling of the settlements that exist.”

But he noted that Obama also called for an end to violence against Israelis and for Arab acceptance of Israelis’ right to their own nation. Carter said such acceptance is painful for displaced Palestinians, but that “there has to be an accommodation in the political world.”

Carter, 85, pledged his “assistance, as long as I live, to win your freedom, your independence, your sovereignty and a good life.”

RCMP Outreach Follies?

RCMP Outreach Follies?
by Winston Smithson

They say the Mounties always get their man. But do they sometimes get the wrong imam?

This is one of many questions coming out of the second annual “Muslims of Tomorrow 2009” conference sponsored in part by Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police on June 13. A product of efforts by the RCMP National Security Program in British Columbia, and something called the “RCMP National Security Youth Advisory Council (BC),” the initiative reflects the shaky history of the Force’s involvement in Islamic outreach.

Mounties rushed into outreach following 9/11, and the results were not always pretty. The former head of the Force’s National Security outreach group was Inspector Wayne Hanniman, whose fondest hope – expressed in a public briefing – was to work as a traffic cop in British Columbia, a unique aspiration for one involved in the high-risk and subtle area of Islamic outreach and Islamist subversion. Consistent with this goal, he formed an RCMP ethno-cultural national security consultative group whose membership inadvertently included some of the more radical elements in Canadian society.

Moderate Muslims were shocked to find the Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN), a chapter of the US unindicted co-conspirator outfit, CAIR, invited to participate. Under the Inspector’s wing, a CAIR-CAN official was even escorted around the Canadian Security Intelligence Service offices. The farce worsened as the National Security group’s public briefings eventually came to cite CAIR-CAN’s misleading studies of Muslim victimhood, thus doing the divisive propagandistic work of Islamists for them (For a reaction to Canada’s victimhood bandwagon, click here). Inspector Hanniman was last seen leading Canada’s UN police contingent in Sudan, where he was featured in a flattering Department of Foreign Affairs magazine article written by a journalist known for her accommodating coverage of CAIR-CAN and similar groups.

A similarly impulsive approach was taken in the creating of mirror “youth councils” by the National Security outreach group. The RCMP’s headlong rush to get into the outreach business resulted in the national security team’s hiring a bright young university graduate with suitable “diversity” credentials, but no noticeable familiarity with national security. Soon after coming aboard, Ms. Dahlia Nawwar announced in the course of a public presentation that she wanted to complete a study of the causes of youth radicalism. Singing from the “root causes” songbook, she made clear that she adhered to the apologist view that Islamic extremism was all simply a matter of reaction to oppression and alienation. Nawwar’s remarks showed no appreciation of the doctors, lawyers, engineers and other privileged classes that inspired, organized and underpinned extremism from the Muslim Brotherhood to al-Qaeda. But they did sidestep altogether the militant Qur’anic “sword verses” so routinely invoked by terrorists themselves as their sole motivation for violence.

Which gets us to “Muslims of Tomorrow.”

Although the national security outreach efforts claim to be aimed at heading off radicalism of all kinds, the conference shows a heavy concentration on Muslim concerns and perspectives – and not the most moderate among those. It is far from clear, for example, that similar resources and publicity have gone into preoccupations of other “at risk” immigrant groups, or that a federal police agency has any business getting involved in determining what tomorrow’s Muslims should look like, sound like, dress like or believe in. Even those who think government should be in the business of religion, will not soon expect similar quantities of RCMP dollars and prestige to flow into “Hindus of Tomorrow” or “Christians of Tomorrow” conferences.

In the meantime, compliant national security outreach functionaries once again seem inclined to preside over a Muslim conference premised on the discredited Islamist propaganda theme of Canadian Muslims as victims of their non-Muslim neighbors. So, as day follows night, the theme of this year’s gathering is the media portrayal of Canadian Muslims. RCMP publicity includes references to popular and largely-unsubstantiated Islamist themes: anti-Muslim bias, fear of backlash, and so on.

Two respected Canadian journalists are to figure on the “Tomorrow” panel, and the Islamic content is rounded out by panellist Imam Dr. Reda Bedeir. In some ways, Imam Bedeir’s selection reflects how tricky and ill-advised RCMP and Government involvement in religion can be.

Bedeir has a distinguished intellectual history, with an impressive list of credentials. He was even listed among the host of people attending the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference 2008. But in inviting Dr. Bedeir – or at least associating themselves with him through the “Muslims of Tomorrow” event – the RCMP’s national security outreach unit could be interpreted, in the name of the RCMP and Government of Canada, to confer legitimacy on his brand of Islam, and to commend its practice to young Muslim conference-goers. This may or may not be a comforting thought.

Like many Islamic scholars, Dr. Bedeir shares advice. In an article dealing with homosexuality, he declares the orientation “clearly sinful,” “a perverted deviation from the norm,” a matter of “choice”, and equates it to alcoholism, addiction and gambling. “[G]ay acts,” writes Dr. Bedeir, are “unlawful” in the eyes of all Islamic schools of thought and jurisprudence”. As for these schools:

“They only differ in terms of penalty. Some say that no physical punishment is warranted. Some see that severe punishment is warranted, while others require a minimum of 4 adult male witnesses before a person can be found guilty of a homosexual act.”

Bedeir appears not to rule out “severe punishment,” something that might assume major significance if one were to take seriously what is termed a “useful” web link appearing at the end of his article. The link is to advice on homosexuality by Dr. Taha Jaber Al-‘Alwani, President of the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences in Herndon, VA, and then president of the Fiqh Council. Al-Awani also is past president of the International Institute of Islamic Thought, suspected of financing terrorist groups.

The President of the Fiqh Council concludes:

“Verily, the punishment here is the burning of both homosexuals (the actor and acted upon) or stoning them with rocks till death because Allah Most High stoned the people of Lut after demolishing their village.”

Is this the view of Dr. Bedeir? If so, would the RCMP National Security Community Outreach Program and the Government of Canada, support it? Would its proponents be appropriate role models for youth? Based on the Supreme Court of Canada’s same-sex constitutional decisions, even the cosmically-expanding cultural-sensitivity standards of RCMP outreach wouldn’t justify the burning and stoning of a Canadian minority. Yet.

This raises another issue and another minority.

Dr. Bedeir is an instructor at the AlMaghrib Institute, an Islamic educational organization with a presence across the United States and Canada – and a certain Saudi flavor. A fellow AlMaghrib instructor is Yasir Qadhi, reportedly a self-described terror watch listee. As David Ouellette, of the now-defunct Judeoscope website put it, “at least … one of his exegeses, combines traditional Islamic anti-Jewish moti[f]s with Western anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial.” A recording of Dr. Qadhi’s spine-chilling meanderings on Jews is offered in “Part 8,” here.

Dr. Qadhi is still with AlMaghrib. Does this mean that his public views reflect those of AlMaghrib? Would this mean that AlMaghrib instructors should not be lionized panellists before an audience of impressionable Muslim youth – and apparently more impressionable RCMP outreachers? Does Dr. Bedeir share the Qadhi take on those pesky Yahoods? If so, would the RCMP National Security Community Outreach Program agree with Bedeir – and Imam Qadhi? Did anyone bother to research the question before sending out the “Muslims of Tomorrow 2009” invitations? Are some outreach program organizers sympathetic to AlMaghrib-type views?

Meanwhile, the RCMP advertising of the “Tomorrow” event boasts that Dr. Bedeir is Imam of British Columbia’s Burnaby Al-Salaam Mosque. This Mosque appears to have been the site of “Parents of Today: Protecting the Muslims of Tomorrow,” a March 2008 forum that was, according to its publicity, “Sponsored by RCMP Advisory Committee.” A listed “key speaker” was Bosnia-born Imam Dr. Zijad Delic, National Executive Director of the Canadian Islamic Congress, one of the most radical of Canada’s fraternity of Islamist organizations . Radical, maybe, but apparently good enough for an RCMP “Advisory Committee” dedicated to keeping youth away from, well, radicalism.

WHERE TO FROM HERE?

Canadians and their allies must ask whether RCMP outreach is undermining the country’s national security situation. Those who care about Canada have reason to fear that misconceived approaches and incompetently-managed programs have contributed to the Islamist goal of legitimizing interests that seek, at a minimum, to encourage division and alienation within the Canadian body politic while reinforcing Islamist-supremacist and other sharia norms.

In light of the weaknesses of these RCMP Islamic initiatives, Canadians and their friends abroad would do well to press RCMP Commissioner William Elliott, Canadian Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper, to:

– trigger an audit and investigation of all past and present RCMP Islamic-related “outreach” activity.

– assess whether RCMP outreach involvement with radical groups and individuals has made the Force vulnerable to infiltration by such persons, and whether radical or Islamist-sympathetic individuals are, or have been, employed by the RCMP in outreach or other RCMP units, whether as regular Force or civilian personnel or as volunteers. This assessment must indicate the relevant chain of command at all times during the life of the outreach program, as well as those persons within the RCMP who recommended, approved and influenced the accepting of specific groups and individuals as outreach partners.

– evaluate whether “youth advisory” or other Muslim-dominated groups are gaining special RCMP access unavailable to other youth groups, including religion-privileged access, to recruitment opportunities, and fast-tracking into the RCMP. There must be no religion-based preferences in federal employment.

– disclose the identities of persons involved in any advisory capacity with RCMP outreach officials, so that the public can observe for itself the nature of related activity.

– undertake that any information formerly or currently provided to members of any consultative or advisory group simultaneously be made available for public scrutiny. This should enable citizens to satisfy themselves of the appropriateness of outreach participants and activity. Disclosure must include any studies and other material relating to national security and defense that is shared with community “advisors.”

– shift the culture of “outreach” so that consultations with the RCMP are regarded within relevant RCMP units as the right of the general public, and not the result of possible “in-house,” selective and privileged religious interests and lobbies operating in the shadows.

– undertake that the RCMP have no dealings with the Canadian or other affiliates of Islamic entities listed by the US Justice Department as unindicted co-conspirators in the recent Holy Land Foundation trial. This exclusion would be subject to the clearing of such entities through scrupulous investigation, and certification of clearing by the Commissioner of the RCMP and the Minister of Public Safety.

– ensure that neither the name of the RCMP nor of any other government agency be attached to outreach or other consultative bodies – such as the “RCMP Advisory Committee” – unless these bodies and their members be authorized to speak on behalf of the government. It is a failure of public administration and contrary to the rule of law to allow ad hoc, unauthorized, unaccountable groups to be perceived to have an inside track on the making of national security policy.

– end irresponsible RCMP reliance on unwarranted, alienating and dangerous Islamist “victimhood” narratives. Government must aggressively counter such disinformation with readily available evidence of Canada’s exceptionally good treatment of Canadian Muslims in the face of extremist provocation. If RCMP outreach cadres continue to prove inadequate to the challenge – indeed, by negligence and lack of insight, continue to facilitate the spread of Islamist influence – the government must recognize that the RCMP’s outreach program is operating against the national interest and must be shut down. Fast.

U.S. Lawmaker Says Obama Administration Ordered FBI to Read Rights to Detainees

[kaltura-widget wid=”zdiwqda840″ width=”410″ height=”364″ addpermission=”3″ editpermission=”3″ /]

FOX NEWS  A senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee is accusing the Obama administration of quietly ordering the FBI to start reading Miranda rights to suspected terrorists at U.S. military detention facilities in Afghanistan.

The move is reportedly creating chaos in the field among the CIA, FBI and military personnel, according to Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich. The soldiers, especially, he says, are frustrated that giving high value detainees Miranda rights — the right to remain silent, the right to an attorney — is impeding their ability to pursue intelligence on the battlefield, according to a story first reported by the Weekly Standard.

“What I found was lots of confusion and very frustrated people on the front lines who are trying to, well, make Afghanistan successful for the United States and its allies,” said Rogers, who serves on the House Intelligence Committee.

Rogers, a former FBI special agent who served in the U.S. Army, just returned from Afghanistan and a visit to Bagram Air Base, where he said the rights are being read. Continue Reading →

Bridgitte Gabrielle on the Islamic war on history itself.

While these are shocking and unsubtle examples of the war on History which Muslims and Islam itself by nature are perpetrating on the ‘Dar Al Harb’ (World of war or non Muslim world) they are not the most serious. In Saudi Arabia and all Islamic lands, evidence of a pre-Islamic past is typically wiped out altogether. In Muslim controlled parts of Israel artifacts of ancient Judaism are looked for and destroyed for the same reasons Muslim armies burned the great libraries at Alexandria. This video illustrates why we have a ‘War on History’ category on Vladtepesblog. But it is not the most serious example.

Abdulhakim Muhammad: “It Wasn’t Murder, It Was War”

by Baron Bodissey

I asserted last night that Pvt. William Andrew Long should be classified as a battlefield casualty, since he was killed by a self-declared Muslim mujahid in an ongoing war against the United States.

The accused murderer, Abdulhakim Muhammad, continues to make my case for me. By now the Obama administration must fervently wish that this poster boy for Islamic peacefulness and tolerance would shut up.

Notice that Mr. Muhammad’s latest media announcement was made via a collect call to the AP from his jail cell in Arkansas:

Suspect in Soldier Shooting Says He Was Justified

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Muslim convert charged with fatally shooting an American soldier at a military recruiting center said Tuesday that he doesn’t consider the killing a murder because U.S. military action in the Middle East made the killing justified.

“I do feel I’m not guilty,” Abdulhakim Muhammad told The Associated Press in a collect call from the Pulaski County jail. “I don’t think it was murder, because murder is when a person kills another person without justified reason.”

[…]

“Yes, I did tell the police upon my arrest that this was an act of retaliation, and not a reaction on the soldiers personally,” Muhammad said. He called it “a act, for the sake of God, for the sake of Allah, the Lord of all the world, and also a retaliation on U.S. military.”

No doubt President Obama, like President Bush before him, would assert that Abdulhakim Muhammad is not a true Muslim, because real Muslims don’t commit such heinous acts. But Mr. Muhammad considers himself an authentic Muslim, and so do many other Muslims who slaughter innocent people in the name of Allah.

Thousands upon thousands of Muslims across the globe do the same thing, and consider themselves good Muslims as a result of their actions. Who are we to dispute their definition of their own religion?

How is it that Presidents Bush and Obama know more about the meaning of Islam than Muslims themselves?

The article continues:

In the interview, Muhammad also disputed his lawyer’s claim that he had been “radicalized” in a Yemeni prison and said fellow prisoners that some call terrorists were actually “very good Muslim brothers.”

And indeed they are, in the eyes of many (possibly a majority) of their fellow Muslims.

This incident seems to be yet another instance of Sudden Jihad Syndrome.

He also said he didn’t specifically plan the shootings that morning.

“It’s been on my mind for awhile. It wasn’t nothing planned really. It was just the heat of the moment, you know,” said Muhammad, who was arrested on a highway shortly after the attack.

Mr. Muhammad’s phone call was in defiance of a gag order designed to protect his right to a fair trial:
