German High School: Christmas Celebration Suspended As Christmas Songs Not Compatible With Muslim Pupil’s Beliefs

An original translation from NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk, public broadcaster):

Christmas Party at Lüneburg Highschool voluntary
Dec. 20, 2017
The Johanneum in Lüneburg this year will forgo a Christmas celebration during class time. The reason: it appears that last year, a Muslim pupil complained that the Christmas songs that were sung were not compatible with her belief. Instead of the mandatory celebration during class time, there will now be a voluntary celebration in the afternoon. This is what the school administration decided upon. The chair of the school parents’ council said that this was a compromise she could live with.

School invokes school law
In their decision, the highschool invokes the Lower Saxon school law. It says that during class, religious beliefs must be respected, and the feelings of people with dissenting opinions were to be respected. In music class, no religious songs were sung either, says the leader of the high school.

Implementation is up to the school
Each school can decide on their own how the rule is to be implemented, said a spokesman of the school board. The paragraph in the school law was not a prohibition to sing Christian songs. Not all schools handle the situation like the Johanneum. In the catholic elementary school in Lüneburg, the Muslim pupils attend the Christmas celebration, says the school director. Some Muslim parents deliberately
registered their children at that school, so that their children could come to know other cultures and religions.

Berlin: Afghan Refugee Tries To Drown Girl In 2°C River

An original translation from B.Z. (Berliner Zeitung):

Berlin-Spandau: 19-year-old wanted to drown girl (17) in the Havel
Dec. 19., 2017
The young man pushed the 17-year-old into the river and repeatedly tried to press her under water

A relationship argument between a young woman (17) and her boyfriend (19) – according to B.Z. investigations an Afghan asylum seeker  – ended in the only two degree [Celsius; 35.6°F] cold water of the Havel at the Spandauer Burgwall! With dramatic consequences for the man: he submerged, and was rescued by firefighters. He had to be reanimated. He was taken to hospital to the intensive care unit for further treatment.

Girl saved herself to the riverside
The girl was able to save herself to the riverside and climb up a ladder at the walls. She was taken to hospital with hypothermia. As the German girl tells the police and the rescue teams, her boyfriend angrily pushed her into the water after an argument. He then jumped in, too, and tried to push her under water to drown her.

The police confirm this course of events in their press release of Tuesday afternoon. The fourth homicide commission began investigations. „The man is the suspect. He had to be resuscitated“, says a police speaker.

Rescuers in fear
B.Z. spoke to the gas station attendant at the ship-gas-station at Spandauer Burgwall: „I saw how the soaking wet, frightened girl was taken into the ambulance.“ About a minute later, a commotion broke out among the rescuers. They ran back to the water and searched for the woman’s boyfriend. „A tug was just about to land for tanking at my station, we were barely able to redirect it.“ Then, a boat of the water police arrived, and pulled the man from the water.

Germany: Syrians Get Into “Religious” Argument in Integration Class, Stab Each Other

An original translation from Neue Rhein/Ruhr Zeitung:

Argument in the Integration Class: Man Wounded With Knife
Rita Meesters
Dec. 19., 2017

WESEL. Syrian woman comes into conflict with two men in an integration class, her boyfriend afterwards gets critically injured. Homicide Department is investigating.

As a consequence of an argument among the participants of an integration class, on Monday evening around 5PM, a 23-year-old was critically wounded by a knife stab into the stomach. The two suspects, a 36-year-old Syrian and a 41-year-old man from Lebanon, were arrested in the early morning hours of Tuesday in their apartments in Wesel by a special force. One of the men resisted arrest and was injured during the arrest. He is being treated in hospital, the police announces.

Apparently, it was about religious matters
An argument in the integration class in the community college Ritterstraße. A vocal argument broke out between the two 36 and 41-year-old men, and a further participant of the class. According to NRZ information, it was apparently about religious backgrounds, the women apparently was not wearing a headscarf anymore. There had been a conflict lingering between the involved parties for a while. The head of the class and the chief of the communal college, Andreas Brinkmann, tried to pease, and calm down the heated situation.

But the argument continued in front of the communal college building. First, a man who is an acquaintance of the Syrian woman, was lightly injured in the head by a knife. Over the continuing course of the conflict, the 23-year-old, who is allegedly the boyfriend of the woman, suffered a stab in the stomach and was gravely injured. Police established a homicide team. The two suspects were arrested with the support of a special force in their apartments in Wesel.

Exact circumstances still not clarified
Police are still investigating the backgrounds of the deed, Ramon van der Maat of the Duisburg Police announces. It were still unclear who wounded the victim with the knife.

Community college chief Andreas Brinkmann and his team are shocked by the deed: “We never had anything like that before”. The German language classes at the community college existed for twelve years, currently, there are about 500 participants of different nationalities and religions taught in 30 classes – in the classes it were, apart from smaller arguments, quiet and peaceful, says Brinkmann.

Syrians Stab Man Down between Christmas Market Booths
December 17., 2017

Saarbrücken: Yesterday evening at 10:30PM, police received a report about a fight between several people with usage of weapons. According to the report, one person is lying on the ground with a stab wound, while the group of perpetrators has fled.
According to the police’s first investigations, everything starts with the to-be-victim, a 22-year-old from Homburg, and several friends (male and female) taking the train from Homburg to Saarbrücken.
On the train, a verbal argument with the to-be-attackers, three Syrian migrants of the age of 17, 19 and 20 years, occurs. The argument on the train stays verbal. After leaving the train station, the two groups take different directions. The Homburger and his friends walk through the Bahnhofstraße towards St. Johanner Markt.

In the pedestrian zone, the Syrian group ambushes them between the Christmas Market stalls. The migrants threaten the group verbally, insult them, and attack the 22-year-old Homburger with drawn weapons. According to witnesses, the perpetrators are holding a club, a sickle-knife, a throwing knife and a chain whip in their hands.
The attack lightly injures the victim. He receives a stab wound in the shoulder and at the temple, and can leave the hospital later that night.
The perpetrators only cease from their victim when more eye witnesses arrive and because there are loud calls for the police, and run away in different directions.

Three hours after the deed, the attackers were temporarily* arrested on the train to Homburg in St. Ingbert. All three of them were under the influence of narcotics. It is unclear whether this was already the case at the time of the deed. Police are looking for witnesses who can provide information about the deed, or about the prior argument on the train.

* Translator’s note: Yes, “temporarily arrested”, you read that right. Saarbrücker Zeitung, who run this same story under the innocuous title “Man Injured By Knife”, close their report with: “But after the interrogations they were let go again. According to the police headquarters, there were “no reasons for arrest”.”

Germany: Rush At The Foodbank Causes Police Operation

Bottrop. It was intended as a contemplative pre-Christmas event: the food bank Bottrop gave away small gift parcels on the third advent.

But the rush was so big already in the early morning hours that the police had to establish order in the jam. “Not all of those waiting had a command of the German language”, says Dieter Kruse, first chairman of the food bank Bottrop. “About 200 people had come – everyone wanted to be first.“

Those who were waiting in the first row were squeezed against the entrance door in the tumultuous scenes.

In order for those in need of help to form a line, the police was called. The officers, with the help of the local office of public works, erected barricades, to get order into the rush.

First persons were already waiting at 5 AM

“The first people were already there at 5AM”, Kruse continues: “But we only opened at 10AM.“

The food bank had asked the citizens of Bottrop to donate. Therefore, they were able to make the small parcels with foodstuffs.

Around noon, the situation calmed down. According to Kruse, only 10 to 15 people were waiting in front of the door at noon. There still were enough presents, the food bank had prepared 1200 small parcels.

The Christmas surprise parcels can be fetched until 4PM in the Gladbeckerstraße 108 .

Underage Girls Sexually Harassed On Augsburg Public Transport

An original translation from Augsburger Allgemeine

Exhibitionists harass pupils and student
Three pupils and a student were harassed by exhibitionists on Augsburg public transport. Police are looking for the perpetrators.
Dec. 15, 2017

There have been three incidents of exhibitionism in Augsburg public transport. Three pupils (10 and 11 years old) and a 26-year-old student were harassed by unknown men on the street tram and the bus. It is unclear whether the cases are related or whether it is a serial perpetrator, according to police.

The first incident happened on Thursday around 1:30 PM in the tram line one bound to Göggingen. An eleven-year-old pupil noticed at the station Maria-Stern a man who was visibly masturbating his member. When the girl moved away, the man, according to police, took her seat, and continued. He neither spoke to the eleven-year-old, nor did he look at her, according to police. The perpetrator had short, black hair, was between 35 and 40 years old, and about 1.80m tall. He wore a pair of blue jeans.

Only twenty minutes later, in tram line 1 bound Königplatz, at the same station, a similar incident occurred. This time, an unknown person was masturbating in front of two ten-year-old girls. When the girls departed the train at Frohsinnstraße, the man kept following them for a while. According to police, the dark-skinned man was about 20 years old, 1.60m tall, and had dark, shoulder-length hair. He wore a blue jacket and carried a grey backpack.

On Wednesday, around 9 PM, a 26-year-old student was harassed in bus line 26. A man exposed his member to the student, and then departed the bus with her at the stop Bärenwirt. He, too, was dark-skinned, about 1.70m tall and in his late 20s. He wore a pair of grey trainers, a hoodie, and had black, short hair.

In all three cases, police Augsburg are asking for relevant information under the phone number 0821/323-3810.

The Trump Effect Is Coming To Austria – New Government Announces Program

Sebastian Kurz, ÖVP, will be Europe’s youngest leader, with 31 years. FPÖ-chief Heinz-Christian Strache (r.) will be vice-chancellor.

An original translation from Die Welt:

Austrian Government Program
Asylum seekers to hand over mobile phones and cash
Austria will adopt a new style with the new ÖVP-FPÖ government. This had been clear for quite a while. But what are the plans of the coalition under the new chancellor Kurz? The government program “For our Austria”, Für unser Österreich, details it.

After seven weeks of negotiations, ÖVP and FPÖ agreed on a 182 pages strong government program for the next five years. The coalition of conservatives and right-wing-populists declare their clear dedication for the EU.

The preface of the pact says: “A strong Austria, where we can seize the opportunities of the 21st century, can only exist in a strong Europe”. A fundament of solid politics was, among others, comprised of the basic principles of the European Union. The parties’ councils approved the pact late Friday evening unanimously.

But what exactly does “Together. For our Austria” say? Some of the points were already extracted on Saturday. But what do general statements like “stop illegal migration” and “speed up asylum proceedings” really mean? These are the most important of the planned measures.

Migration and refugees

– Whoever applies for asylum in Austria will have to hand over all of his cash at the application. The sum is to be used to cover the basic supply costs.

– Asylum seekers have to hand over their mobile phones to the authorities. These will analyse the phone data, to clarify identities (for example in social networks) and to verify the denoted travel route. The smart phones won’t be completely confiscated though.

– Quicker withdrawal of protection status at travels to the homeland.

– During the asylum procedure, asylum seekers will receive non-cash benefits only, no more cash.

– The doctoral obligation to confidentiality will be suspended, when illnesses of an asylum seeker are “relevant to the basic supply”.

– Refugee children will learn German in so-called bridge classes. Until now, they were integrated directly into the school system.

– The list of safe countries of origin will be expanded.

– The monetary benefit for asylants and subsidiary protected will be reduced to a base benefit of 365 Euro and a potential integration bonus of 155 Euro. Family benefits will be capped to 1,500 Euro.

Taxes

– The government will lower the tax burden in the next five years. The lowering of the wage- and income-tax will mean keeping more net from your gross.

– Especially families will be unburdened with a tax bonus. Among others, a tax bonus of 1,500 Euros per child and family is offered.

– The tax burden will be lowered towards 40 percent.

Security

– 2,100 additional police officers will be hired during the next five years.

– Citizenship will be “newly reshaped”, according to the coalition paper. It is now defined as the “completion of a successful process of integration”.

– Closing-down of Islamic kindergartens and Islamic private schools when they do not fulfil the legal requirements.

– The government intends a dramatic toughening of punishments for sex crimes. Particularly for assaults on women and children.

– Clubs that are financed by, for example, religious societies in foreign countries, will be consequently shut down. The club law will be reworked to plug loopholes.

Employment Law

– Employment Law will be eased to make the Austrian employment market more attractive for companies.

– More flexible working hours for employees.

– considering to enshrine Christmas and holiday benefits for employees in law.

– A minimum pension of 1,200 Euros for low-paid workers after 40 years on the job.

– More funding and more positions at universities, to counteract the exodus of young scientists.

Europe

– ÖVP and FPÖ want a definite termination of the EU accession negotiations with Turkey, and they are looking for “allies” for that. Instead, Vienna wants a “European-Turkish neighbor concept”.

– The government wants to promote better coordination of the EU member states in protecting the outer European borders.

– As long as this is not secured, the national borders will be secured by all measures.

Hamburg: Explosion Of Improvised Device In Subway

An original translation from MoPo (Hamburger Morgenpost)

Perpetrator On The Run – Explosion at the Subway Station Veddel

Explosives-alarm on the Veddel! According to first information, Sunday evening, around 5:30, an explosion took place at the subway station. The perpetrator(s) apparently are on the run. Fortunately, no one was wounded, according to the police.

According to the police, a pyrotechnic item exploded in a plastic bag deposited at the train station. The windows of an air trap were damaged, people were not harmed, according to police.

The perpetrator used a stop of the subway. He exited, deposited the bag on the platform, and quickly entered the train again. Shortly thereafter, there was a small detonation.

Witnesses report that after the bang, a lot of screws flew through the air. A policeman replies to this that indeed, screws were found at the scene.

It is now being investigated if these are connected to the explosive. The police was still working on the scene in the late evening. Several police deployments combed the area for more traces. The manhunt is in full swing. It is currently investigated as to whether the surveillance cameras give cues.

The subway traffic has just resumed. The S3 line was not able to stop at Veddel station until 10PM.

“Prague Is Like It Used To Be With US” – A Berliner’s Thoughts In Festive Prague

A friend who lives in Berlin sent this note from Prague:

Tonight, I strolled home from a bar, between 4 and 5 in the morning, for half an hour, alone, across the city. The city was quiet. No rubbish, no screaming. At important buildings, there was the occasional police officer, not paying attention to me. At the access road to the old city, there was another police officer, freezing and bored in the middle of the road, but he was there. Scattered party-goers came my way, with civilized behavior. An elderly man walked his dogs on a leash. I felt safe on the whole way, I had nothing* in my pockets, I dilly-dallied and enjoyed the christmas decorations at the castle hill. All of it was simply enchanting, peace in freedom. Precious christmas decorations were fixed even on the outside of the ground floor windows, little trees with balls, and mangers stood directly on the pedestrian walk, or on the doorsteps. Apparently, no one here is expecting theft, vandalism, riots.

Prague is like it used to be with us.

There had been only nice, civilized people in the bar, most of them czech, and a single black person among them who was eager to be the nicest person, too. Earlier this night a friend had told me about Mannheim, where, as a woman, you don’t go anywhere alone at night anymore. And WE are lecturing the Visegrad states? On what? Spare your words!

What Was The Role Of Intelligence Services In The Berlin Christmas Market Attack?

Germany – The following research by Stefan Aust and Helmar Büchel suggests that all the unexplainable “accidents” the German authorities made in dealing with Anis Amri in the year leading up to his attack might not have been accidents after all.

An original translation from Die Welt/Welt Am Sonntag.

Anis Amri under surveillance as early as 2015
By Stefan Aust, Helmar Büchel
Dec. 17, 2017, 00:01h

New insights in the case Amri: The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution had already appointed a dedicated case handler to Amri. Why did she not raise the alarm?

The Berlin Christmas Market attacker Anis Amri was under surveillance, being shadowed and intercepted, much earlier than authorities and Federal government have admitted until now.
This is what emerges from thousands of files, dozens of confidential informant reports, and the protocols of the telephone and internet surveillance, which Welt Am Sonntag have exclusively obtained.
No later than November 2015, the Federal Attorney in Karlsruhe had the Tunisian pointedly surveyed by the Federal Office For Criminal Investigations (BKA) and the Land Office For Criminal Investigations (LKA) North Rhine-Westphalia, by a confidential informant of the police who calls himself “Murat” and appears in the documents as “VP01”.
The measure was part of the covert investigations against the alleged IS terror cell of the hate preacher Abdullah Abdullah from Hildesheim who is known under his pseudonym“Abu Walaa”.
As early as November 24., 2015, more than one year before the attack on the Breitscheidplatz, “VP01” reported concrete terror plans of Amri to the LKA Düsseldorf. From there, they were – just as all further insights – reported on to the BKA, the General Attorney, and the Federal Office For The Protection Of The Constitution. From no later than December 3., 2015, on, the often changing mobile phones of Amri were intercepted, and his internet connections surveyed.

Amri downloaded instructions for explosives
Already on December 14., 2015, Anis Amri downloaded detailed instructions for mixing explosives, and for the construction of bombs and hand grenades, on his smart phone that was intercepted 24/7. From no later than February 2, 2016 on, Amri had phone conversations on this intercepted telephone with two IS cadres on the intermediate level of command, and offered himself as suicide attacker for an attack in Germany.

With the help of the police informant “VP01”, the Intelligence Officers managed the same month to enter the encrypted chat communication of Amri with the IS cadres in the messenger services telegram and whatsapp. While the Federal Government is claiming until now that BND (German Intelligence Service) and BfV (Office For The Protection Of The Constitution), had no operative parts in the Amri case, Welt am Sonntag have obtained emails and files from the authorities that prove a greater role of the German intelligence services. Already in January 2016, the BfV authored a two-page analysis of Anis Amri that was signed by BfV chief Maaßen personally.

12.000 The BKA (Federal Office For Criminal Investigation) sent 12,000 documents to the Office For Protection Of The Constitution.
More than 12,000 files, among them the communication with Amri’s IS contacts in Libya, which were secured from Amri’s smart phone on February 18., 2016, were sent by the BKA to the BfV. This is proven by the evaluating report of the BKA. The Federal Office For Protection Of The Constitution even appointed a dedicated case handler to Anis Amri. This agent (her name is known to Welt Am Sonntag) is employed in the anti terror department of the BfV in Berlin. She is on the same compound with the BKA’s Department 33 for the Protection Of The State which is responsible for Amri, too.
Welt Am Sonntag’s research also proves that Amri had even before his arrival in Italy in April 2011 close personal and even family ties with fighters and leading cadres of the Islamic State in Libya. These contacts were known to the Tunisian secret service for years. BKA and Federal Attorney demonstrably learnt of these family ties of Amri to the Islamic State, when they intercepted a phone call where Amri talked about a death of a cousin, fighting for the IS.
The reason why, in spite of these early, and crushing, findings of the German intelligence agencies, Amri was not arrested already one year before the attack in Berlin, does not emerge from the files available. But several months of investigations by Welt Am Sonntag suggest an involvement of international intelligence services. They might have seen a bait in Amri which would lead them to his instigators, the IS terror attack planners, in Libya.

US air force attacked IS camp
Indeed, Amri was, according to findings of Welt am Sonntag, put under the Italian intelligence service AISI’s surveillance immediately after he was released from deportation custody in May 2015. Allegedly, they lost him, when he went on his way to Germany. Few weeks after he was shot near Milano, B2 stealth bombers from the US air force attacked, in a secret operation managed from Germany, exactly that IS desert camp in Libya, where the instigators of the Breitscheidplatz are suspected.

Hans-Christian Ströbele, member of the secret service control committee of the Bundestag, therefore suspects in an interview with Welt am Sonntag the “governing hand” of a US intelligence service or the US military behind the „otherwise inexplicable“ non-arrest of Anis Amri. The fact that the Federal government has not delivered the solving of the background, which was promised by Merkel the day after the attack,“is a massive scandal”, says Ströbele.

Germany: Jewish Community Bochum Asks Members To Not Wear Jewish Symbols in Public Anymore

An original translation from Jüdische Allgemeine, the largest German-language Jewish publication online and offline.

OPINION
Bochum is everywhere
The Jewish Community advises their members to not wear Jewish symbols. The reason: they are being threatened by muslim Migrants

December 14., 2017 – by Philipp Peyman Engel

Not long ago, there was a report in a local Bochum radio station that went widely unnoted, but it was an alarming signal. According to the report, the Jewish Community Bochum advises their members from now on, to not wear kippah or other Jewish symbols in public. The reason: there have been repeated attacks in the past, when community members were identifiable as Jews on the street. Particularly Turkish and Arab migrants are responsible for the attacks, the community announces.

Reality in other German cities is not different from Bochum. In Berlin, it has long been daily life for Jews, from Neukölln over Kreuzberg to Wedding, to not wear Jewish symbols in public. The same can be heard from many Jewish communities, from Kiel to Konstanz. For non-Jewish Germans the antisemitic excesses of muslim Migrants might come as a surprise. For the Jewish community, they are part of life.

CLARITY. It is all the more important to point out in all clarity and without prohibitions of speech: the muslim community has got an enormous problem with antisemitism in their own ranks. The hatred for Israel, the abhorrence of everything Jewish, is not seen as anything offensive by many Arabs and Turks in Germany. But when it goes unpunished that the antisemitic mob in Berlin desecrate Israel flags in front of everyone’s eyes, and cheers the massacre of a Jewish tribe that Mohammed’s army once committed, then this is highly dangerous.

Contrary to what has happened, the police should intervene immediately and with all toughness. The only answer should be: a strong rule of law, consequent intervention, a clear naming of the problem, and more than just trite »Never again!«-phrases.

When politicians like Sigmar Gabriel demand »zero tolerance« in their Sunday speeches towards such excesses, but on all other days of the week, tolerate the hate, then something is going very wrong. In Bochum, Berlin and in many other German cities, where aggressive Muslims try to make Jewish life impossible.

Germany: Too Dangerous – Social Workers Not Allowed In Munich Refugee Homes Anymore

An original translation from Focus:

Munich
Too Dangerous: Social Workers Not Allowed In Refugee Accommodations On Their Own Anymore

December 14., 2017

The Social Assistance Office Munich has officially abolished the consultation of refugees by social workers in shelters where there is no security personnel. The social workers were called back even from houses where they were working in child- and youth-work, Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

The city justified this measure in a letter to its pedagogic employees with the increase of “verbal aggression, improper social behavior, and threats”. The rule was allegedly already in place since November 7.

Andrea Betz, responsible for refugee aid at the “Innere Mission München”, criticizes the decision as a “dangerous example”,  because it was precisely the deployment of security personnel that stirred fear among the refugees, which only would make the deployment of the social workers dangerous in the first place, reports “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.

Refugees who intend to utilise social work now had to visit the social workers on their own, which allegedly only rarely happens. The city administration is allegedly considering sending social workers not on their own, but only in pairs in the accommodations.

In the meantime, 13,000 households in Munich are waiting with highest priority for council housing. But only 3,000 apartments can be assigned per year.
