York U, afraid of offending anti-semites, prevents Jewish and Christian groups from displaying…

…And times being what they are. Well, what are times exactly? Times are such that groups who wish to advocate positions not in accord with the far left or Islam on campus are prevented from doing so by the university itself. Times are such that we imagined could never happen again in history and perhaps even doubted they happened at all.

Of course the modern cowards and those who capitulate will have a good reason for violating every precept that is sacred to Western Civilization. But cowards always have a good reason. It is worth noting the reasons given, because the template itself should never exist as it was created to lend itself to selective enforcement by design, if not deliberately, inevitably. To be clear, the people involved with “Israel Apartheid week” could never pass the qualifications asked by the campus to those from the pro Israel side.

To the management of York University, how do you think you would have made out at the Nuremberg Trials?

York University discriminates against Christian and Jewish coalition ahead of Israel Apartheid Week

TORONTO – At the last minute, York University has cancelled events organized by a coalition of Canadian pro-Israel students and organizations due to “security” concerns. The events organized by the Imagine With Us coalition were scheduled for this week in anticipation of Israel Apartheid Week (IAW), which begins on March 1.
The Imagine With Us coalition – a “multi-faith, multi-political movement that is concerned with maintaining Canadian values and keeping our campuses safe from hatred, discrimination and radical incitement, particularly from those subscribing to radical Islam,” explained Michael Mostyn, national director of public affairs for B’nai Brith Canada – is led by My Canada, a non-partisan organization of young adult Christians who are passionate about a variety of social justice issues, and B’nai Brith Canada.

On Monday and Thursday of this week, events were scheduled at York which included the participation of Middle East expert and political commentator Daniel Pipes, Israeli scholar of Arabic literature and political discourse Dr. Mordechai Kedar, ormer PLO terrorist Walid Shoebat, human right activist Rev. Majed El Shafie, social justice activist and founder of My Canada Faytene Kryskow, and B’nai Brith Canada CEO Frank Dimant. The events were scheduled to be streamed live to campuses across Canada and to be viewable online internationally.

On Monday morning, York University informed Imagine With Us campus partners Christians United for Israel (CUFI) that the university was cancelling the event due to the fact that Imagine With Us did not meet their requirements. York had required that the organizers include a formidable police and campus security presence paid for by the organizers, a list of all attendees in advance, a minute-by-minute synopsis of all speakers’ talking points and a ban on public advertising of the event at York and on satellite campuses. The Dutch Ummah
Several weeks ago a Dutch reader sent us a set of essays by an expatriate Dutch writer named Arthur Legger. I forwarded two of them — one from The Wall Street Journal and the other from IFPS — to our Flemish correspondent VH, and asked his opinion of them.

As regular readers know, VH is very well-informed on both Belgian and Dutch affairs, and documents his opinions copiously using multiple sources. His reply to me was so thoughtfully pessimistic that I was taken by surprise — VH has an invariably sunny and optimistic disposition, but his outlook for the Netherlands was startlingly gloomy.

With his kind permission, I have merged and edited two of his emails into the essay below. My questions to VH have been interpolated in italics:

The “traditional Dutch liberties” that according to the WSJ existed from 1997 until 2005 had in fact already ceased to exist since the immigration flow started to boom in the mid-1970s. Many non-left-wing and conservative Dutch people learned to be careful after that, to go with the flow, and to share real opinions only with the most trusted friends, and in private.

In the eighties a politician was convicted for stating: “When we have the chance, we will abolish the multicultural society”. And when Frits Bolkestein of the VVD expressed his critique of multiculture and mass immigration in parliament in the early 1990s, a very silent electorate rewarded him with a substantial increase in votes, only to be betrayed by Bolkestein being kicked upstairs to Brussels, to the EU…

In Arthur Legger’s excellent essay, he quotes Dr. Hans Daudt: “Via the main political parties the traditional regent families are still in power.” That, however, may be only partly the case with the royalty and its entourage.

For among that “entourage” is the multicultural elite, and they influence each other and hold power. Princess Maxima — who in 2002 was introduced to the ins and outs of Dutch society by extreme left-wingers and multiculturalists and ex-DDR admirers like Andrée van Es (now Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) and Paul Rosenmöller (ex Pol Pot propagandist who, as a GreenLeft, easily got away with that) — once stated to Gretta Duisenberg (maybe the most notorious Arafat- and Hamas-admirer and anti-Semite in the Netherlands) that Dutch identity does not exist. Duisenberg: “One time Princess Maxima was there at a reception, and I passed by her, and she called me and said: ‘I want to say that I really admire you’.”

Turkish father tells German court he stabbed daughter, 15, to death

Out of curiousity, if you were to stab someone in your home, how many times would you have to stab them before you recognized it was your own teenage daughter? One? Five? Sixty eight seems a little high to me.

Schweinfurt, Germany – A Turkish doner kebab vendor told a German court Wednesday how he stabbed his teenaged daughter 68 times in their home, but he denied the attack was an honour killing. Prosecutors in the southern town of Schweinfurt have charged him with murder, alleging he killed Busra, 15, because she had a boyfriend, 17, and was a heavy user of her mobile phone and the internet.

But Mehmet O, aged 46, claimed he mistook her for a burglar.

“What I did was horrible,” the accused said in a statement read out for him by his lawyer. “What happened has nothing to do with family honour.” He claimed he heard a noise in the night last June, grabbed a kitchen knife, and attacked an intruder.

The girl’s bloodied body was found the next day on the sofa where she had slept. The accused vanished. When police caught him, he made a remark about his daughter “not choosing the Muslim way.” The court is expected to ask him what that meant. Continue Reading →

Of all the issues of concern to the public, immigration is possibly the most explosive — and the one about which the most lies are continuing to be told.

During the period that Labour has been in office, mass immigration has simply changed the face of Britain. The total number of immigrants since 1997 is pushing three million.

Ministers claim that immigration policy has been driven principally to help the economy. They have always denied that they actually set out deliberately to change the ethnic composition of the country.

Well, now we know for a certainty that this is not true. The Government embarked on a policy of mass immigration to change Britain into a multicultural society — and they kept this momentous aim secret from the people whose votes they sought.

Worse still, they did this knowing that it ran directly counter to the wishes of those voters, whose concerns about immigration they dismissed as racist; and they further concealed official warnings that large-scale immigration would bring about significant increases in crime.

The truth about this scandal was first blurted out last October by Andrew Neather, a former Labour Party speechwriter.

He wrote that until the new points-based system limiting foreign workers was introduced in 2008 — in response to increasing public uproar — government policy for the previous eight years had been aimed at promoting mass immigration.

The ‘driving political purpose’ of this policy, wrote Neather, was ‘to make the UK truly multicultural’ — and one subsidiary motivation was ‘to rub the Right’s nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date’.

Misters, however, went to great lengths to keep their real intentions secret from the public — with, said Neather, a ‘paranoia’ that these would reach the media — since they knew their core white working-class voters would react very badly.

Accordingly, a report about immigration by a government advisory unit, which formed the core of a landmark speech in 2000 announcing the loosening of border controls, went through several drafts before it was finally published — and the Government’s true intentions about changing Britain into a multicultural society were removed from the final version.

After revealing all this, Neather subsequently tried to backtrack, saying that his views had been twisted out of all recognition by the media. They hadn’t been.

Nevertheless, Jack Straw, who was Home Secretary at the time the immigration policy was changed, said he had read press reports of Neather’s remarks with incredulity since they were ‘the reverse of the truth’.

Now we know, however, that they were indeed the truth. We know this only because details of the advisory unit’s report which were excised from the final published version — just as Neather said — have been emerging into the public domain through Freedom of Information requests.

Public opinion about migrants could be changed through education, the document said

LABOUR dismissed the British public’s widespread opposition to mass immigration as “racism”, a Government document revealed yesterday.

Officials made it clear that public opinion was strongly against relaxing border controls.

But ministers were urged to ignore voters’ “racist” views and press ahead with a secret policy to encourage migrants to flood into Britain. Whitehall experts even proposed a major propaganda campaign to soften up voters in preparation for the mass influx of newcomers.

The details were laid bare in the original draft of a policy document released for the first time under the Freedom of Information Act.

Last night critics accused the Government of snubbing the concerns of British citizens in their deliberate pursuit of a multicultural society.

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of the population think-tank Migrationwatch UK, said: “This report confirms that ministers deliberately rode roughshod over public opinion in adopting a policy of mass immigration.

“They concealed their real intentions in the hope they would benefit from the immigrant vote without losing their working-class supporters. They are now paying the price.”

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling said: “The Government has simply not been telling the truth about its policies on immigration. More and more evidence is now emerging to show that they deliberately planned a big jump in immigration for their own political purposes.”

“Now they are trying to rewrite history to pretend those decisions never happened. Their conduct over all of this has been a complete disgrace.”

Written by staff at the Home Office and Cabinet Office in 2000 in the run-up to the expansion of the European Union into eastern Europe, the report made it clear that voters wanted tougher rather than looser border ­controls.

“It is correct that public opinion favours relatively restrictive policies on immigration,” the document said. But demonstrating thinly disguised contempt for much of the British public, the document said that this opposition was linked to racist ­attitudes.

It said: “Recent research shows that anti-immigrant sentiment is closely correlated with racism rather than economic motives. The most negative attitudes are found among those who have relatively little direct contact with migrants but see them as a threat.”

Ministers also ignored warnings that immigration would lead to an explosion in organised crime including trafficking in drugs, illegal migrants and prostitutes. “Migration has opened up new opportunities for organised crime,” the report insisted.

The document, titled Going With The Flow: Managing Migration in the 21st Century, went on to urge the Government to manipulate public opinion on the issue.

“A new approach to migration policy would need to be not only accompanied by, but underpinned by, a clear strategy for public opinion and public debate,” the report argued.

“Government has tended to assume that negative public opinion on migration is a given that is beyond its control. In fact, research (and common sense) suggests that past governments have had a significant influence on public opinion.”

It added: “On other issues, government has been strategic and proactive in addressing public opinion, it could do so on migration.” The document even suggested the more migrants that moved to the UK, the more the British people would come to accept them.

It said: “Education and people’s personal exposure to migrants make them less likely to be anti-migrant.” The document went on to be heavily edited before being officially published in 2001, with all references to public opposition stripped out.

References to migration opening up “new opportunities” for organised crime were also expunged from the final version. The row over Labour’s secret immigration policy erupted last year when former ministerial adviser Andrew Neather admitted the Government had a “driving political purpose” to spread multiculturalism in Britain.

He said ministers had deliberately set out to use immigration to undermine Labour’s opponents and “rub the Right’s noses in diversity”. Border and Immigration Minister Phil Woolas last night rejected the criticism. He said: “This report confirms there was no open-door policy on migration.

“It makes quite clear that migration is not a substitute for Government policies on skills, education and training of British citizens, which the Government has invested in over the past decade. The Home Secretary at the time was also criticised for changes to the immigration policy being too tough.”

“We have tightened them still further. Our new flexible points-based system gives us greater control of those coming to work or study from outside Europe, ensuring that only those that Britain need can come. Britain’s borders are stronger than ever before.”

More than 3 million public and private sector workers participated in a 24-hour strike called by the largest private and public union groups. Employees in government ministries, municipal offices, hospitals, schools, universities, banks and courts as well as factory workers are among those participating in the strike. Rail, road, sea and air transport across the country are affected. With journalists joining the strike, a virtual news blackout is in effect.

The international community is standing by as Iran goes nuclear. From The Austraian H/T snaphanen

STAND by for some bad news. No, I mean really bad news. The world is not going to apply crippling sanctions to Iran. Even if it did, Iran would not be deterred from developing nuclear weapons. The only way that Iran can be significantly delayed in its pursuit of nuclear weapons is through an Israeli air strike on its nuclear facilities.

I think the chances of an Israeli attack are somewhat less than 50-50. Even with an air strike, the likelihood is you would delay

rather than prevent Iran getting nuclear weapons. Don’t get me wrong, a delay is much better than no delay, but the balance of probabilities is that Iran will ultimately have a nuclear arsenal.

Even sanctions would only have an outside chance of working. But the world is not even going to try them. China, and to a lesser extent Russia, are going to make sure that doesn’t happen. This is a tragedy far beyond Copenhagen, but like Copenhagen it illustrates the complete breakdown of the multilateral system.

The US could strike Iran’s nuclear facilities far more effectively than Israel could, but to do so would be foreign to every instinct of the Obama administration.

It would also be hugely risky. But the risks of not acting are even greater. Nonetheless, the portents are strong that the Obama administration will dither.

More than 12 months ago, just after his inauguration, Obama said: “If countries like Iran are willing to unclench their fist, they will find an extended hand from us.” Since then Obama has done everything an American president could possibly do to engage and entice Iran. He has made countless statements about the genius of Persian civilisation, the wonders of Islam as a religion, the sweetness of the Iranian people, the potential reasonableness of the Iranian government. And in response he has received contemptuous game playing from the Iranians. I come to my conclusion that Iran will ultimately get nuclear weapons with great reluctance, but it follows ineluctably from the facts. Consider the main players: Iran, the US, China, the UN, Russia, Israel. First Iran. There is really no doubt that Iran has a program designed to produce nuclear weapons.

Recently President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government announced that Iran had enriched uranium to 20 per cent and would build a slew of new nuclear fuel plants. This is a fundamental step along the road to nuclear weapons. It represents one of the critical technical hurdles.

A White House spokesman said Iran was bluffing about the level of its uranium enrichment. This is surely a unique case of Iran claiming its nuclear threat is greater than the White House claims. Believe who you will.

Iran has been determined to acquire nuclear weapons for a long time. It is, as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton describes it, something of a military dictatorship, with the Revolutionary Guard assuming more and more power. It is still also, however, a theocratic dictatorship. The purpose of the state is to serve theological ends.

Most Western analysts refuse to take Islamic religion seriously as a factor in geopolitics, assuming there must always be a rational national-interest explanation for any state’s behaviour. Continue Reading →

British Jihadis face prison time, home made video was evidence

Well, once again some British Jihadis made a video of themselves firing off guns and crawling around in the park and spliced in pictures of OBL and the usual Muslim imagery and ended up in a British jail. Here is a link to the original video, and below, my own treatment of it. Basically, it is just their video with some added images. I felt it needed the Vlad touch.

A home-made film showing two would-be terrorists on military-style manoeuvres crawling across a public park in Blackburn in broad daylight has been played to a jury at Manchester Crown Court.

Abbas Iqbal, 24, his brother Ilyas, 23 and Muhammad Ali Ahmad, a white Muslim convert, were said to be “intoxicated by the evil of terrorism” and planning to carry out jihad, or holy war.

The trio, who styled themselves “The Blackburn Resistance”, were said to have studied guerrilla warfare, gathered a stockpile of weapons and a library of jihadist material. Although some of material was comical, the prosecution has suggested, their purpose was wholly serious.

Edward Brown, QC, for the prosecution, suggested that Abbas Iqbal filmed his brother and Ahmad, 26, in the style of typical al-Qaeda propaganda. Their aim was to distribute the material abroad.

The video apparently shows one of the duo carrying a rifle as they “leopard crawl” through Corporation Park, in the centre of the Lancashire town.

Mr Brown said the “promotional collage” for The Blackburn Resistance was among material which Abbas Iqbal had intended to radicalise others.

The video was introduced by a voice stating “They are fighting against oppression, they are The Blackburn Resistance”, before it showed two of the group crawling through woodland and across a path in the park.

In the background, someone chants: “I am the armour for those who believe in the unity of Allah. I am the fire against the aggressor.

“I am the machinegun against the one who starts fighting. I am the one whose sun is shining. Over my day and my pride.” Video clips of the trio holding and firing weapons while shouting Allah Akbar (God is Great) in a back yard were also found on the storage card, along with photographs of them in camouflaged clothing and carrying weapons.

The Iqbal family home in Blackburn, was later searched. Police discovered a camcorder video tape which showed Abbas Iqbal holding a young boy and raising a machete.

Playing the tape in court, Mr Brown told the jury: “It is plainly a joke and he obviously has no intention of hurting the boy.” The boy, aged about eight, is on camera in a room with two girls as Abbas Iqbal holds the weapon and, in Urdu, says: “This is what I am going to do to somebody. God willing, when I find a Kuffar (non-believer), this I show, I am going to take his head off.” Mr Brown said that the material was discovered in Abbas’ suitcase when he was arrested at Manchester airport in August 2008, en route to northern Europe with another alleged extremist, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Later Mr Ahmad told police that the video was “just a bit of fun”.

Syrian authorities have arrested one of the associates of assassinated Hamas member Mahmoud al-Mabhouh for possible involvement in the plot, a Fatah-affiliated website reported Tuesday.

The man, Mahmoud Nasser, was said to have been aware of all of Mabhouh’s movements and flights. According to an Arab diplomatic source, the Dubai police asked the Syrians to turn over Hamas members for questioning, including Nasser.

Nasser arrived in Dubai shortly before the assassination, and the Syrians suspect he cooperated with the assassins and provided information on Mabhouh’s whereabouts. According to the reports, Nasser was one of those who rook part in the kidnapping and killing of Israel Defense Forces soldiers Avi Sasportas and Ilan Saadon during the first intifada, together with Mabhouh.

Canadian Nuclear Physicist vanishes without a trace

Whatever you may think of the X-files as a TV show, one of the characters had a solid point when he said:

“Nothing vanishes without a trace”.

It should be added, that rare earth isotopes factor into bomb design as well. Making a bomb is more than just refining U238 into high concentration of U235. Also, plutonium weapons require rare and complex isotopes for the trigger mechanisms, the exact part that Iran is said to be making now.

Just a little speculation folks, nothing to see here.

Canadian nuclear scientist Lachlan Cranswick has been missing since mid-January.

A Canadian nuclear scientist who has not been seen for more than a month has simply vanished, leaving “absolutely no trace at all,” police say.

Lachlan Cranswick, 41, a physicist from the Chalk River Laboratories nuclear facility in Ottawa, was last seen on Jan. 18, when he left his job and boarded a bus to Deep River, his hometown along the Ottawa River with a population of roughly 4,300.

Later that day, or possibly the next morning, Cranswick took out the garbage — and the single man described as a meticulous loner has not been seen since.

“It is open and there is nothing else we can do with it,” said Const. Darin Faris, the Deep River police officer conducting the investigation. “Every bit of information, every lead that came in, everything … has led us nowhere.”

Faris said Cranswick’s friends notified police of his disappearance six days after he was last seen, leading to fruitless searches of a 9-mile-long stretch of land along the Ottawa River. Helicopters, tracking dogs and civilians were unable to find a trace of the man.

Faris said investigators have no reason to believe Cranswick was targeted or that he was a victim of a crime.

“It’s not like he’s a reactor designer or that he knows how to use them,” Faris told FoxNews.com. “He’s not someone who, if you gave him highly enriched uranium, he could make a bomb. He’s not that kind of person.”

Investigators at first thought Cranswick had gotten lost while walking along several nearby trails, but every item he typically took on those trips — at least two flashlights, a whistle and a GPS system — was found in his unlocked home, along with his wallet, keys and passport.

“We don’t believe he got lost,” Faris said. “He’s meticulous in all points of detail.”

Faris acknowledged the possibility that Cranswick lost his way and fell through ice on the Ottawa River, or perhaps he was attacked by a wolf, coyote or bear, but investigators have found no evidence to support those theories.

“The average person would come to the conclusion — it’s not a good feeling,” he said. “There’s absolutely no evidence either way. There’s absolutely no trace at all.”

Daniel Banks, a colleague of Cranswick’s at Chalk River Laboratories, said he saw no change in Cranswicks’ demeanor prior to his disappearance.

“There was no indication he was going anywhere,” Banks said. “Everyone has said that he seemed  normal, especially during the time leading up to the disappearance.”

Cranswick, an avid curler, specialized in conducting experiments in structural chemistry and Earth sciences, Banks said.
