Surgery bans elderly patient over her carbon footprint

And this is why one must be eternally vigilant of totalitarian leftist posing as those with rational concerns such as health or environmentalism. This is the result.

The Guardian:

An elderly woman was ordered to find a new GP because the “carbon footprint” of her two-mile round trips to the surgery where she had been treated for 30 years was too large.

Avril Mulcahy, 83, was told to address the “green travelling issues” over her journeys from her home in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, to the West Road Surgery. The surgery wrote to Mrs Mulcahy, telling her to register with a new GP within 28 days.

The letter said: “Our greatest concern is for your health and convenience but also taking into consideration green travelling issues. Re: Carbon footprints and winter weather conditions, we feel it would be advisable for patients to register at surgeries nearer to where they live.

“We would be very grateful if you could make the necessary arrangements to re-register at another practice.”

Mrs Mulcahy, a grandmother, believes the decision was made because she complained about a doctor.

Lancashire chip shop forced to remove ‘gaudy’ Union Jack sign

Lesley and Peter Salthouse have been forced to take down their Union Jack shop sign

The owners of a Lancashire fish and chip shop have been forced to take down their Union Jack sign, as it was described as “gaudy” and “too busy”.

Lesley Salthouse and her husband Peter, who have run Naze Lane Chippy in Freckleton for almost 25 years, were told the sign was not in keeping with the village.

The sign has a simple Union Jack flag in the middle, with two St George’s flags on either side.

The couple lodged a planning applicaton after a single complaint trigged the council to take action, but it was denied.

They then took their case to the planning inspectorate in Bristol, but they were again rejected.

Lesley, 53, was furious at the decision and said: “We are an English fish and chip shop, yet we cannot even use our own flag to celebrate that.

“There is nothing more traditional than a Union Jack flag and our patron saint of England is St George so why not have that flag on either side of our sign?

“If you go to Spain or Portugal you see their national flag in so many bars and restaurants.

“You see more national flags abroad than in our own country, which I think is really sad.”

Freckleton Parish Council approved the planning application, but it was Fylde Borough Council that denied it on the basis that the design was “oversized and gaudy with too many angles, triangles and colour”.

‘What would happen with a scarf over my face?’: Outrage of Fireman Sam creator detained and branded racist for innocent burqa joke at airport security

Humiliated: David Jones, who created Fireman Sam, is outraged by the way he was treated at Gatwick AirportHumiliated: David Jones, who created Fireman Sam, is outraged by the way he was treated at Gatwick Airport

The creator of the popular children’s character Fireman Sam has told how he was accused of racism after making a light-hearted remark at Gatwick airport.

Dave Jones said he experienced an ‘Orwellian nightmare’ after commenting on the ease with which a woman with her face covered by a hijab, another form of the burqa, had walked through security controls.

As he placed his scarf and other items into a tray to pass through an X-ray scanner, he quipped to an official: ‘If I was wearing this scarf over my face, I wonder what would happen.’

To his astonishment, he was met on the other side of the barrier by officials who detained him for an hour in an attempt to force him to apologise and the police were called.

Mr Jones, 67, who was supposed to be meeting his daughters, said: ‘Something like George Orwell’s 1984 now seems to have arrived  in Gatwick airport.

‘I feel my rights as an individual have been violated.

‘What I underwent amounts to intimidation, unlawful arrest and detention. I was humiliated and denigrated in full public view.

‘I am a 67-year-old pensioner and have lived my life within the law.

‘I do not have even one point on my driving licence.’

Mr Jones said that when he had made his original remark, the guard had appeared to agree with him, responding: ‘I know what you mean, but we have our rules and you aren’t allowed to say that.’

As he went through security where he hoped to meet up with his two grown-up daughters, he was confronted by a woman official who said he was being held because he had made an offensive remark.

Jihadwatch Comes To Town.

PJG has written a guest post over at JihadWatch about Robert Spencer’s vist to Melbournistan.

I’ve known PJG for quite some time now, and we’ve attended the occasional demo together, so I’m happy to agree with what s/he has to say. Rather than rehash that, I’ll add my observations of the evening. (This is your opportunity to rush over to JW and read the report!)

David Cameron betrays the British people. Again.

Quite stunning really. Its like the Royal flush of treason and betrayal. He has denied the right to self determination of England and he people in the E.U. as well as aiding and abetting, hell funding the Islamic domination of his own people and literal destruction of the very history of the British people and her accomplishments by changing the educational system to deny it.

If I were British I would be arrested now just for what I am thinking.

Fortunately I am not.

New plan to spot ‘right wing extremism’ in advance.

See the thing of it is, the very same people who would support and encourage this, I would wager a lot would howl with protest at McCarthyism and demand that old Joe spend his life in jail for his attempt to sanitize the USA from communism. Of course thefact that he was right for the most part about communism, the Soviet Union’s influence and Hollywood never seems to factor in.

From The Lancashire Telegraph

POTENTIAL right-wing extremists in Lancashire are to be spotlighted in a scheme originally set up to track would-be terrorists following the 9/11 and 7/7 attacks.

Police said the ground-breaking counter-terrorism programme Channel, which has so far concentrated at Islamic extremism, has been widened to take account of the rise in right-wing extremism in the county.

Parents, teachers, community leaders and police officers are referring children and young adults who they feel may be at risk of being radicalised by groups such as the English Defence League. Continue Reading →

British media in a panic. Desperate to maintain the narrative against all reality and evidence, they wage war on working class indigenous British

Today has been a surreal news-day indeed. The Star compares Tommy Robinson with Hitler and calls the EDL, as does the CBC, racist without bothering to provide a lick of evidence for it, and of course, utterly avoiding any mention of the massive anti-white events of the past week by black people within the UK. Even the ones who made white people strip down in public and rob them of their possessions and dignity.

I guess all they have left is to lie louder and more often and at a higher level. I mean if you repeat it often enough it must be true right? Below, the PM actually making a claim about a group of British patriots who should rightly sue the government for such a remark. I cannot imagine what a group of Muslims who might for example, openly advocate for an overthrow of the British government, regime and system might do if he said that about them.

Of course, we don’t have to imagine. We know what they would do, and so does Cameron, and that is why he would never say it right?

Tommy Robinson, if you are out there and reading, invest in the best lawyer you can find.  Perhaps the EDL can now enjoy the kind of government funding that anti-British Muslim groups have been enjoying under the beard of ‘inter-faith’ groups.

For an excellent analysis on some of the absurd and truly totalitarian (in the sense that the government will forego law, justice and reason to maintain and preserve an ideological narrative at all costs) please click through to this gates of Vienna article.

The Battle of the Bulb

Totalitarianism comes in several flavours today. Religious and ‘environmental’. At the moment the environmental faction seems to be restricting individual liberties even faster than Muslims. I guess the good news is, once the Muslims have implemented the sharia, no one will give a damn what kind of lightbulbs you use.

From The Washington Times:

Liberty light

How Americans are allowed to light their homes is becoming the latest battleground over states rights. The Texas legislature has fired a broadside against a Federal law banning incandescent light bulbs. Under provisions in the 2007 “Energy Independence and Security Act,” traditional incandescent light bulbs will start to be phased out in January 2012, beginning with 100 watt bulbs. The purpose of the law is to promote more energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs by removing the competition. In the past Congress has banned products using public health, safety or welfare rationales, but the incandescent bulb is a proven, safe technology, more so than the bulbs that will replace it. So instead the Congress justified banning the bulbs under its power to regulate interstate commerce. But the Texas legislature has countered with a bill that allows continued manufacture and sale of incandescent bulbs within the state. Said Republican state representative George Lavender of Texarkana, “Let there be light.” As of this writing the bill is still awaiting signature from Governor Rick Perry. Continue Reading →

At long last, someone holds a smug, overfed entitled government funded artistto task for over a million dollars the rest of us have to work for.

H/T blazing cat fur

Part II is here

I must say, its quite  piss off to hear this woman go on about her lifetime of doing exactly what she wants and have it paid for by people who work at actual jobs and then listen to her call it a sacrifice and claim it should be above scrutiny by those who actually pay for it. Yes, she is a commie. Arts should generate revenue for the government as they do in the US and not be a net drain on the rest of us not to mention be a little cabal of leftist elitists and their culture of smug entitlement and of course, vastly superior to the mere peons who have to pay for her choice of activity.

Wilders verdict tomorrow.

Lots of speculation on this one. According to this news source, he will be freed on all charges. Why am I not as optimistic?

Ontario HRC reaches predictable heights

A few years ago, I decided to stop telling jokes of what I have come to call, ‘logical extremes’. What I mean is, someone tells you something absurd or counter intuitive and you answer with, “Wow next thing you know, you will have to hire a dead guy at your gym or be charged with discrimination against the metabolically challenged’. The reason I decided to stop telling them was because I had this awful albeit superstitious feeling that every-time I told one, I was handing some supercilious bureaucrat another data point on how to destroy liberty and control every thought we have.

Then I saw this:

Thanks Blazing, for religiously posting Ezra’s excellent clips. I may have to get cable again soon just for these.
