Another Muslim intellectual surprised by Islamic extremism

Rome, 15 October (AKI) – The president of the association of Italian Muslims, Ahmad Gianpiero Vincenzo, has urged measures to tackle the problem of religious extremism. “We need to analyse fundamentalism and develop practical action to combat this,” said Vincenzo. His call came after a 35-year-old Libyan earlier this week carried out a botched bomb attack against a military barracks in Italy’s northern city of Milan.

Ban the cult of Islam and close immigration from Muslim countries

“We know very little about the channels through which extremists are being funded,” said Vincenzo.

He is also a consultant on immigration for the Italian Senate’s Constitutional Affairs Commission and a member of Rome Mosque’s General Assembly.

“We also need to know the extremists’ geographical distribution across the country and the real targets of their propaganda,” Vincenzo said.

Until now, very little has been done in Italy to support the creation of a moderate, official Islam, he noted.

“There is no public funding for the training of imams. This can only result in self-styled preachers and dodgy sources of funding,” Vincenzo said.

He and a group of Italian jurists are drafting legislation that would regulate places of worship for religions like Islam which don’t currently have an agreement with the Italian state.

“The bill will place greater value on institutions that are officially recognised by the Italian state, such as Rome’s Grand Mosque.

“And it sanctions the creation of schools for imams and mosques which are managed with maximum degree of transparency,” he concluded.

He then continues on to say blah blah blah yada yada yada Islam means peace. Sure bud, we’ve heard this crap before.

Islamism Must Carry a Price

CPP…By Daniel Greenfield  Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Islamists are sworn to make war on the West, to drive out freedom and democracy, replacing them with the mandated tyranny of Islamic law. They declare all laws and all nations that do not originate or abide by Islamic law to be invalid. And they reserve the right to make war on them by any means necessary, from the political to the economic to the terroristic.

And yet it might surprise many people to realize that most Islamists are not haggard fanatics living off dried goat meat in caves. Instead many of them are doctors and lawyers working in major American and European cities, they serve as advisors to Western politicians and write newspaper columns. Their organizations are treated with respect and given veto power over the policies of governments whose existence they reject.

And that in a nutshell is the trouble of it all. Because Islamism should carry a price, instead it only carries rewards. Islamists in Europe and America do not actually have to be isolated hermits working out of a few ghettos. Instead they are able to gain all the benefits of the West, from advanced degrees to high paying jobs to political recognition, while maintaining their hatred for the West. Continue Reading →

Muslims to demand Sharia law in Britain

134080_1 The dhimmi British government is about to realize the dangers of giving concessions to Muslims. With 85 Sharia courts already in Britain and many more suspected a Muslim web site Islam4uk is calling on Muslims to use this time of economic turmoil in the U.K. as an opportunity to demand Sharia replace existing British laws and government.

In light of all this, Islam4UK would like to declare the launch of a spectacular procession that will take place on 31st October 2009.

We hereby request all Muslims in the United Kingdom, in Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow and all other places to join us and collectively declare that as submitters to Almighty Allah (SWT), we have had enough of democracy and man-made law and the depravity of the British culture. On this day we will call for a complete upheaval of the British ruling system its members and legislature, and demand the full implementation of Shari’ah in Britain.

In forthcoming days, Islam4UK will also publish, as a run up to this special event, a fascinating insight into how Britain’s architecture, transport and culture will be revolutionised under the Shari’ah. Watch out for articles including:

Trafalgar Square under the Shari’ah

Football Stadiums under the Shari’ah

Pubs under the Shari’ah

Buckingham Palace under the Shari’ah

Keep updated with www.islam4uk.com to see the Islamic blueprint of the remarkable changes that will occur in Britain as it transforms into a thriving Islamic State.

Where will the procession take place?

First Stop:  House of Commons

The primary source of polytheistic legislation in Britain, the House of Commons is at the centre of Britain’s oppressive law making policies; from here fallible men and women decide what should be legal and illegal. It is from this very place where the lives of millions of people in the UK are changed and it is from here where unjust wars are launched.

Islam4UK stewards and guides will be at hand to direct all attendees to the centre of the congregation from where the March for Shari’ah will officially commence.

Second Stop: 10 Downing Street

Almost 300 years old, 10 Downing Street is the official residence of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Gordon Brown, the current Prime Minister, is one of the chief figures in making laws and regulating the affairs of society. In the last few years, he has undoubtedly brought Britain down to an all new low and appears to be truly blind to the damaging impact of his oppressive bureaucracy.

After demanding the abolishment of the House of Commons Muslims will then march to 10 Downing Street, and call for the removal of the tyrant Gordon Brown from power.

Third Stop: Trafalgar Square

A site of significant historical value, Muslims will gather even more support from tourists and members of the public, making clear in the heart of London the need for Shari’ah in society.

It will be here where the march will culminate and finish and we hope that with the help of Allah (SWT) it will be very successful.

The site also says it has plans for British landmarks and statues that Muslims find offencive. They claim the destruction of said monuments would happen within 24 hours of the implementation of Sharia.

As the British people were disarmed by thier government years ago, a boat load of guns would seems an appropriate Christmas present from the colonies.

Netherlands: Married at thirteen

Why did she go back to her land of origin, twice even? Altuntas: “The Dutch authorities didn’t give her any feeling of security. They had underestimated the danger and Suat felt it.”

The last moments of Suat in the Netherlands, as they could have been: a Middle-Eastern family passing through passport inspection at Schipol. Suat is almost 18. Because of her the family is remigrating. Besides her father, who remains in the Netherlands as breadwinner. What went on in Suat’s head? Half a year later, social workers don’t know whether she’s alive. The remigration took them completely by surprise.

Suat, 18 years old, has already lived an adult’s life. She had been married off, probably when she was 13, maybe when she was 15, it remains unclear if it was in the Netherlands or in her land of origin. The ‘wedding’ started off a life of rape, abuse, shelters and social help. Professionals have been discussing her case for years, and yet it went wrong. Since March, Suat has disappeared without a trace. The police is preparing a case against her husband.

In the reconstruction, Dutch newspaper Trouw met a lot of silence, denials and requests not to publish ‘in the interests of the residents of the Hague’, because of ‘the girl’s safety’ or for the sake of the criminal case. One person broke the code of silence. Social worker Celal Altuntas spoke to the paper about Suat. The police of Haaglanden responded with anger and intimidation.

Altuntas was until recently a member of the Core Team of Honor Related Violence (KEG), which is a collaborative effort of the police and other authorities. In a KEG training session, on May 14 2009, the police started a pilot with Suat’s case-file. Trouw has the text. Altuntas recognizes the story. In November 2008 he urgently advised the girl, then in a shelter, against returning to her parents. The Youth Service threw that to the winds. Altuntas heard at the training session in May that Suat disappeared.

He decided to break the code of silence within the KEG. Authorities have an obligation to secrecy but can, despite it, speak to each other in the KEG. Continue Reading →

Indonesia: Cleric cleared of sex abuse over child bride

Hat Tip to R.E.A.L   Ungaran, 14 October (AKI/Jakarta Post) – An Indonesian court has acquitted controversial Muslim cleric Pujiono Cahyo Widianto over child sexual molestation charges for marrying an underage girl, aged 12 last year. Widianto risked up to 15 years in jail, had he been convicted of the charges. Prosecutors said they would appeal the court ruling. The girl is his second wife.

After hearing the charges and the plea from the legal team of Pujiono alias Syech Puji, 43, led by top lawyer O.C. Kaligis, presiding judge Hari Mulyanto deemed the charges unclear and inaccurate, meaning the trial could not proceed.

“The defendant is acquitted of the charges and should be released from detention,” Hari told the trial at the Ungaran District Court, Central Java, which was open to the public.

Prosecutors had charged Pujiono, a wealthy brassware entrepreneur and owner of Miftahul Jannah Islamic boarding school in Jambu district of violating the 2002 law on child protection and article 290 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code on child molestation for marrying an underage girl, Lutfiana Ulfa, just 12 years old and still an eighth grader, in August, 2008.

Pujiono’s second wife, Lutfiana, and his first wife, Ummi Hani, also present in court, greeted the acquittal joyously and cried. Continue Reading →

Russia to Allow Pre-Emptive Nuclear Strikes

FOXNEWS… MOSCOW —  A leading Russian newspaper is citing a top security official as saying Russia is reserving the right to carry out pre-emptive nuclear strikes to safeguard the country in the modern age.Security Council chief Nikolai Patrushev says in Wednesday’s Izvestia interview that a sweeping document on military policy will be handed to President Dmitry Medvedev before year-end.

Military analysts say Patrushev is muscle-flexing because what he reveals about the proposed new doctrine suggests it differs little from the current one.

Patrushev says the new rules will allow a “flexible and timely” reaction to conflict situations.

In the same interview he singles out NATO and the United States as threats, and names Russia’s troubled North Caucasus region as an internal danger.

Banned Dutch MP plans UK journey

_45471560_wilders_hrow_pa BBC NEWS… Far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders plans to visit the UK on Friday after successfully appealing against the Home Office’s ban.

The Asylum and Immigration Tribunal ruling overturned a government decision that led to Mr Wilders being turned back at Heathrow in February.

He will not be showing his controversial film Fitna on this visit but plans to return to show it later.

The Home Office said it would decide in “due course” whether to appeal.

If it does appeal it would need the permission of the Court of Appeal to keep the travel ban in place pending the hearing.

Speaking on the Victoria Derbyshire show on Radio 5 live, Mr Wilders said he was invited to the House of Lords by Lord Pearson to organise the showing of his film at a later date.

“It’s a short visit, not to show Fitna or have a debate, we will have that later,” he said.

“Inter-faith violence”

What a joke. The home office is afraid Muslims will go nuts and burn and loot the way they always do. They are afraid of Muslim and UAF violence and nothing else. They were afraid thier Muslim friends might prove Mr. Wilders correct in his opinion of Mo’s Minions.  If indigenous Britons were as prone to violence as Muslims then the video of 150 year old Christian graves being bulldozed by Muslims should have led to riots and bloodshed. Not that British media reported it but the video is on more than one you tube site.

He said he wanted to come to the UK to debate the issue with people who both agreed and disagreed with him.

“I believe it was a good day yesterday for the freedom of speech. I believe the decision of the UK government was political, it was not based on law,” he said.

“Never – and I have been to many countries and had this debate – has anything violent happened. And I’m a democratic politician and I only use democratic means like speeches. This is the way it works in civil society.

Following the tribunal’s decision, a Home Office spokesman said: “We are disappointed by the court’s decision. The government opposes extremism in all its forms.

“The decision to refuse Wilders admission was taken on the basis that his presence could have inflamed tensions between our communities and have led to inter-faith violence. We still maintain this view.”

‘Hezbollah arms cache’ blows up

BBCNEWS… Reports from southern Lebanon say there have been a number of explosions at a weapons depot belonging to the  movement.

The reports say the depot was housed in an abandoned building near the village of Khirbet Silim in the Dabsheh area. There were no reports of casualties.

Hezbollah denied any link with the blasts and attributed them to the detonation of unexploded ordnance.

Lebanese troops cordoned off the area and restricted access to the site.

No-one was injured in the explosions but they caused panic among local residents who reportedly mistook them for an Israeli air raid.

Israel and the mainly Shia Muslim militant and political movement Hezbollah fought a fierce 34-day conflict in 2006 and the area is littered with cluster munitions dropped during the Israeli bombardment.

Fighting ended under the terms of a United Nations ceasefire which banned Hezbollah from conducting any military action between the border and the Litani River to the north.

‘Honour killing attempt’ on lover

Tulay Goren

Tulay Goren

BBCNEWS…The father of a girl of 15 allegedly murdered in a so-called honour killing also attempted to kill her boyfriend, a court has heard.

Halil Unal, 41, told the Old Bailey that Tulay Goren’s father struck him after luring him to a side street with a promise of speaking to the girl.

He told the court he was attacked days after his girlfriend went missing in January 1999.

Mehmet Goren, 49, from north London, denies murdering his daughter.

Mr Goren, of Navestock Crescent, Woodford Green, is charged along with Tulay’s uncles, Cuma Goren, 42, and Ali Goren, 55, both from Walthamstow, who also deny a charge of murder.

Tulay disappeared on 7 January 1999. Her body has never been found.

Giving evidence from behind a screen, Mr Unal told the jury that the attack took place after Tulay, a Kurdish Turk, was taken back home by her family after their failed attempt to get married at Hackney register office as she was underage.

Mr Unal said elder members of the community brokered a meeting between him and the Gorens at the Thatched House pub in Leytonstone, east London, on 20 January to discuss the future of his relationship.

Mr Goren agreed to get the pair married in March and asked Mr Unal to step outside to a side street where he could speak to Tulay on the phone, the court heard.

Mr Unal said: “Mehmet said to me ‘I know how much you love Tulay, Tulay is at my older brother’s shop, give her a call and speak to her’.”

As he dialled the number he saw a blade and was hit in the neck. Mehmet Goren was convicted of the attack, the jury heard.

Mr Unal said: “He wanted to kill me.”

He added: “In our honour customs, they are either going to finish off, kill the girl, or they are going to kill both of them. That is definite.”

‘Not tolerated’

Mr Unal added: “It is because I have a clean heart, and that is why I am alive now.

“I don’t care if the Goren family kill me now, it is not important to me. I have waited 10 years for this, and to be here.”

Tulay had run away from home in December 1998 and came to live with Mr Unal, who was 31 at the time, after her father went to the factory Mr Unal worked in and attacked him for “bothering” Tulay.

The pair had met and fell in love when Tulay got a summer job at the factory.

The prosecution says Tulay was killed “to restore the so-called honour” of the family, as a relationship between she and Mr Unal – who are from different sects of Islam – “would not have been tolerated”.

The trial continues.

Judge orders runaway convert to go home

Rifqa Bary

Rifqa Bary

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – The teenager who ran away from Ohio to Florida because she feared physical harm for converting from Islam to Christianity has been ordered back to Ohio.

A Florida judge said Tuesday that 17-year-old Rifqa Bary, who has been staying in Orlando, should return to her family, who live outside Columbus.

Bary has been in foster care in Florida while her case was being reviewed. The judge says he will turn over the case to an Ohio court in the next few weeks, but no order has been signed yet.

Bary ran away from her parents’ home in July, saying she feared being killed for changing religions. But a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation found no credible threats to Bary.

Up next for Bary is a status hearing which is scheduled for October 23, at which time her parents attorneys have to submit immigration documents. That could be the day that she is sent back to Ohio.

If the issue is not resolved by the end of October, a judicial review has been tentatively scheduled for November 10.

Blast at Islamic center raises questions

NIN…13 October 2009: Fire scene tape remained stretched across the entrance to the Ihsan Islamic School at 423 West Onondaga Street Syracuse, New York as I walked the perimeter of the property yesterday morning.. The criss-cross of the yellow barrier serves a lone public reminder of a mysterious explosion that occurred there last Thursday afternoon. According to authorities, the blast occurred in an “unused” portion of the basement, spewing a cloud of natural gas, debris and dust into the main area of the building and forcing the evacuation of about 75 students and school personnel. Investigators have yet to release a statement about the cause of the explosion, although at least one additional meeting between fire officials and  investigators took place Monday to discuss their findings.

It’s definitely odd,” stated one law enforcement official close to the investigation, speaking to this author on the strict condition of anonymity in Syracuse on Monday. “There are issues that are under investigation that are well outside of public purview,” added this source, saying that the blast was not directly related to the building’s heating or electrical system. “The blast occurred in a location that one would not expect if it was caused by a heating unit, at least not in the normal sense. It’s curious.”

This source also stated that “it is not likely, it has basically been ruled out that [the blast] was caused by any who shouldn’t have been there, or by an outsider with criminal intent such as arson.” Although such cryptically worded statements tend to fuel notions of conspiracy, it is clear that this source was purposely intending to offset previous publicly reported suggestions that the school might have been the target of some anti-Islamic individual or group. “The evidence simply does not point in that direction.” Continue Reading →

Italy: Libyan bomber ‘prayed with us’ says Muslim leader

After surviving the blast the bomber shouted “Help me, Help me” says witness

Milan, 12 October (AKI) – The Libyan who detonated a bomb at the ‘Santa Barbara’ military barracks on Monday, Mohammed Game, prayed at Milan’s Viale Jenner Mosque, said the head of the Islamic Institute in Milan. “He is a Libyan who hung out everywhere and who even prayed with us, just like thousands of others do, but we did not know him very well,” said the institute’s president Abdel Hamid Shaari in an interview with Adnkronos.

“He prayed and then he left. He wouldn’t stay around,” said Shaari. He added that Game was last seen at the mosque over 20 days ago, towards the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

On Monday, an Italian soldier was injured after 35-year-old Game exploded a bomb hidden inside a toolbox at the entrance of the ‘Santa Barbara’ barracks (photo). The man is said to have entered the courtyard of the barracks on foot, where he was confronted by a military guard.

He then detonated the rudimentary explosives, which were reportedly made of solid nitrate.

The toolbox where the man hid the explosive device contained two more kilogrammes of explosives, and according to reports, it only partially detonated.

Authorities have said if the entire load had detonated, there would definitely have been deaths.

Early reports said the man shouted: “The army must leave Afghanistan!” which according to authorities is not true.

“After the blast, the man did say something, but according to witnesses his words were unintelligible as they were all in Arabic,” said public prosecutor Armando Spataro.

“He had a dark coloured jacket and his face was bloody. He shouted: Help me, Help me!” said a witness, Giovanni L, a sergeant major.

According to the witness, when Game was being taken to the hospital he “pointed a finger towards the sky, like a victory sign.”

Game, had been living in Italy for many years and lived with an Italian woman with whom they have three children. A train ticket from the southern city of Naples to Milan was found to be in his possession, although it is still unclear if and when he took the train and for which reason.

Italian authorities said Game lived close to the barracks and that he slept at his apartment in Milan the night before the attack.

The injured Italian soldier was hit by shards of glass and received medical treatment at the scene of the attack which took place at 7.45 am local time.

Following the attack, Game was taken to the Fatebenefratelli hospital in Milan where he was reported to be in critical condition.

The Libyan man suffered severe injuries to his face and eyesight and his hand has been amputated, according to medical sources at Fatebenefratelli hospital.

Iraqis Shocked as Atheism Creeps in

“No one is guiltier than the Americans who brought such ideas to Iraqis.”

atheist-bus1 IslamOnLine…BAGHDAD – Although their number remains insignificant and most of them hid their identity, the fact that some people are leaving Islam and becoming atheists is a troubling news in conservative Iraq.

“I was surprised a couple of weeks ago when my son told me that his colleague at college told him that his father had become an atheist,” Sheik Abdul-Rassoul al-Rabia’a, a religion teacher at Baghdad University, told IslamOnline.net.

Not only did the father abandon his Muslim faith, he wanted his son to follow in his footsteps.

“I suggested to my son bringing his friend home and talked with him that despite his father’s thinking, he should continue to follow his Muslim heart and never deny his God,” al-Rabia’a said.

Linking that to the non-stop violence plaguing the country since the 2003 US invasion, some Iraqis are becoming atheists.

Most of them have had personal incidents involving either themselves or close relatives.

“Iraq is a land without God or any other kind of major protective superior form,” claims one atheist who declined to be named fearing reprisal.

“We have been forgotten and it is better to think only rationally than emotionally. I left behind my old beliefs because it is the only way to protect my children from any harm that God isn’t being able to do.”

Yasser (not his real name) is grouping up with others who have also renounced their faiths.

“When we first decided to organise ourselves, we were only eight people,” he told IOL.

“And after seven months, our number has reached to 34 but many other groups are being formed countrywide according to my contacts in northern and southern Iraq.

“We believe that today in Iraq, there are at least 220 atheists linked to the groups nationwide.”

Caro (not his real name), 41, also claims their numbers are on the rise.

“Each day we are having more followers and maybe one day we will be able to have our own centre where we will be able to discuss our ideas and nature creation.” Continue Reading →

Kuwaiti women MPs refuse to wear hijab in parliament

Telegraph…Two female Kuwaiti MPs, Rola Dashti and Aseel Al-Awadhi, are defying the country’s powerful Islamist movement by refusing to wear the hijab, or headscarf, in parliament.

The MPs, who were among the first four women to be elected to the country’s National Assembly in May, have angered their Islamist colleagues, who say they say they are flouting sharia, or Islamic law.

One of the two is going further by demanding the scrapping of an amendment to electoral regulations that says they have to observe sharia in parliament.

“You can’t force a woman going to the mall to wear a hijab and you can’t force a woman going to work to wear the hijab,” the MP, Rola Dashti, told The Daily Telegraph. “This is not Iran or Saudi Arabia.”

The MPs’ stand is part of a backlash against the fashion for stricter dress codes for women across the Arab world.

Last week, the rector of al-Azhar University in Cairo, traditionally the principal seat of Sunni Islamic learning, banned women students from wearing the face veil in women-only classes and student dormitories, and was followed by other academic institutions there.

Students at Khalifa University in Sharjah, the most conservative of the seven city-states that make up the United Arab Emirates, have also reportedly been told to stop wearing the veil, known in Arabic as the niqab. Continue Reading →
