Racial attacks reported in Kyrgyzstan

A Stratfor report came in this morning reporting ‘racist attacks on Russians’ within this enigmatic little former Soviet state, Kyrgystan, which you may recall had a violent coup this week. Here is the Stratfor report:

Kyrgyzstan: Russians Report Attacks – Foreign Ministry

April 15, 2010
Reports of racially motivated attacks on ethnic Russians and Russian nationals in Kyrgyzstan concern Moscow, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said April 15, RIA Novosti reported. Calling the reports grassroots racism, a ministry spokesman said there have been complaints that Russian citizens’ businesses and homes have been attacked throughout Kyrgyzstan.

Below, is a small section of the CIA fact book on that wonderful little country that may help explain these ‘racist’ attacks. i bet I know who is attacking who. Better read it now before Obama has the CIA scrub any little ‘inconvenient truths’ from it.

Sweden Democrats attacked at a secondary school in Lund

Posted on April 14, 2010 by Kent Ekeroth

Sydsvenskan writes that the SD had to leave Spyken. The reporter according to Catherine at the SDS, they had not time to update the article with what happened yet. Please also read two other articles on this, which calls the whole episode and also has an accurate title as opposed to Sydsvenskan; SVT SDU had to leave school and HD: Sweden Democrats had to flee schools

SD explained in detail in our press release, Sweden Democrats attacked the secondary school in Lund :

When representatives of the Sweden Democrats and the Sweden Democratic Youth  visited today the secondary school in Lund Spyken to set up a book table, they were assaulted by a group of anarchists. Leftist extremists, who according to the school management, had no links to the school, surrounded the Sweden Democrats and appeared to be very threatening. In the end, the extremists stormed book stand and stole the party’s publications. In connection with this attack there was also physical involvement with the Sweden Democrats, including parliamentary candidate, Kent Ekeroth, receiving a kick to the body.

Rather than call the police and evict the violent left extremists, elected school board officials in trying to restore calm withdrew the book stand and forced the Sweden Democrats out from the school.

Sweden Democrats who left the school were persecuted by the extremists and forced them to be taken away from the area in a taxi to avoid further attacks.

Today’s events in Lund, which will be reported, is the third serious incident in a short term, hitting the Sweden Democrats in connection with school visits. About a month ago there was a stone throwing and knife assault in connection with a school visit by representatives of the Sweden Democrats’ youth organization in the neighboring municipality of Malmö.

Parliamentary candidate Kent Ekeroth comments:

– Today’s event shows once again how serious the situation is for democracy in our country. If assembly and the freedom of expression must be saved, policymakers at all levels must take an immediate crackdown on left-wing extremism. – I am also very critical of the school management’s conduct in this case, which I consider contrary to the guidelines issued by the Parliamentary Ombudsman about political parties in attendance at school. By the state’s withdrawing of our book table, it has sent a signal to our students and left-wing shock troops that this type of assault is an acceptable and effective way to stop dissidents from bringing their message. Such behavior is not worthy of a democracy, “says Kent Ekeroth.

Somalia: Fear of Islamists kills music

Original article here.

MOGADISHU, Somalia, April 13 (UPI) — Most radio stations in Somalia have stopped playing music because of fear from the country’s Islamist insurgents.

The stations comply with a ban issued by the Islamist Hizbul-Islam insurgents who say music is un-Islamic, BBC News reports.

A government-controlled radio and a Kenyan station are the remaining two outlets playing songs.
The stations that stopped playing music are using “sounds such as gunfire, the noise of the vehicles and birds to link up our programs and news,” one radio executive told the BBC.

Hizbul-Islam and al-Shebab, the other major Islamist group, control most of Mogadishu and much of the country’s southern and central regions. They are said to have close links to al-Qaida and reports claim the terror organization is reinforcing them with senior insurgents from Yemen.

Somalia’s weak transitional government has been unable to stop violence in the country.

A Facebook user was disfigured in a revenge-fuelled acid attack over his intimate relationship with a married woman he met online, a court heard today.

Awais Akram, 25, looked like a ‘cross between a zombie from a horror movie and the Incredible Hulk’ after the assault in July last year, jurors were told.

Mr Akram was left burned and bleeding from his nose and eyes and with flesh hanging off his body, prosecutor David Markham said.

The cost of the H1N1 Scare Tactics

From Canada Free Press with a HT to Gates of Vienna:

By Arthur Weinreb  Monday, April 12, 2010

Figures have recently been released that show how much money the government of Canada spent on the H1N1 flu pandemic. The feds spent $37 million on advertising and communications. This was more than was spent on anti-virals ($14 million), preparing emergency responses ($8.6 million) and outbreak management ($21 million).

After the figures were released, Dr. Richard Schabas, a former Ontario medical officer of health, renewed his criticism that the government spent too much money after the flu outbreak had finished. In the end, although the H1N1 did qualify as a worldwide pandemic, its effect on the vast majority of those who caught it was mild. Many people had this particular strain of flu and didn’t even know it. The number of people who died from H1N1 was about one tenth of the number of Canadians who die each year from ordinary flu.

There is nothing unusual in the fact that the government spent so much money advertising in order to tell people where they should go and get their flu shots. It was perfectly consistent with the way democratic governments operate in the 21st century.

It is often said that the most important duty of a government is to protect its citizens. While this may have been true at one time, today a government’s primary function is to protect itself and its members. Even if the government had known for a fact that there was only a one in a billion chance that H1N1 would become a major health problem for the country, they still would have spent the same amount of money including that spent on advertising. It’s not like they were spending their own money. And since other countries were doing the same thing, Canada would have looked bad if the government failed to tell its citizens day after day after day to go and get their flu shots and the one in a billion chance became a reality.

Having acquired a lot of the vaccine, it then became imperative to get rid of as much of it as possible, lest the government be accused of waste. And advertising as much as possible was necessary in order to accomplish this. So no one including Dr. Schabas should be surprised that the advertising and dire warnings about not getting a flu shot continued well after the pandemic and the possible danger had ended.

Fjordman on Astrobiology

For the second time, Vladtepesblog has been honoured with a new Fjordman essay. Read, enjoy, pass around. We may well be at the end of an era of free thinking rational science, unencumbered by the oversight of voodoo practitioners and other forms of religious and political censors. Fjordman is a refreshingly honest and courageous historian who has helped shape my world view like very few authors have been able to do. Thank you again Fjordman for this.

Eeyore for Vlad:

I touched briefly upon the subject of astrobiology in my history of geology, Earth science and planetary science, but I will expand upon this here. The best-explored planet next to our own is without doubt Mars, which has been visited by several orbiters as well as by a number of robotic probes on the surface. The most successful ones to date have been the twin Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity from the United States. Originally intended for just a 90-day mission, the rovers landed on opposite sides of the planet in January 2004, but were still exploring the Martian surface as of 2010. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a division of the California Institute of Technology in the USA, manages the rovers on behalf of NASA.

Next to Mars, the most promising candidates for primitive life in our immediate neighbourhood might not be the planets but rather some of their natural satellites. Jupiter’s huge moon Ganymede is the largest moon in our Solar System. Like Saturn’s moon Titan it is larger in diameter than the innermost planet Mercury but has less mass. Ganymede is the only natural satellite in the Solar System known to possess a magnetosphere, which is suspected to be generated through convections within a liquid, iron-rich core, not too different from the Earth.

Ganymede

While it is the least massive of Jupiter’s major Galilean moons, Europa is one of the most interesting bodies in the entire Solar System for astrobiologists and is strongly suspected to harbor a subsurface liquid water ocean. The same could be true of Ganymede and possibly Callisto, although this is considered less likely. If water contains a little bit of ammonia this has an antifreeze effect that could enable liquid water to exist at temperatures significantly below those of liquid freshwater or even seawater here on Earth. With a diameter of over 4,800 km, Callisto is almost the size of Mercury. Unlike Io, Europa and Ganymede, Callisto does not experience much tidal heating and orbits beyond Jupiter’s main radiation belts. “It is thought to be a long dead world, with a nearly complete absence of any geologic activity on its surface.” Any heat generated within it would have to come from radioactive decay alone.

In contrast, the gravitational influence of Jupiter squeezes Europa as it orbits from one side of the planet to the other. This “tidal flexing” should keep its core molten and result in volcanic activity, just like at its neighbor Io which is closer to Jupiter. The downside is that Europa orbits within the unfriendly radiation environment of its planet’s powerful magnetosphere.

Europa Close

Io, the innermost of the Galilean moons, is the most volcanically active body in the Solar System, with volcanoes spewing out sulfur and sulfur dioxide (SO2) to a height of hundreds of kilometers. The heat is caused by massive tidal forces generated by Jupiter and its moons. Volcanism exists on other bodies, too, but not necessarily in the form of molten rock (lava).

The American probes Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11, launched in 1972 and 1973, were the first spacecraft to visit Jupiter and Saturn in the Outer Solar System. NASA’s Galileo spacecraft orbited Jupiter from 1995 to 2003, sent pictures and data back to the Earth and dropped a probe into the Jovian atmosphere to sample its composition. It also found evidence of what could be an ocean on Europa. New research suggests that there may be plenty of oxygen available there, possibly great enough to support not only microorganisms but perhaps also “macrofauna,” or more complex organisms like fishes. Maybe Europa has hydrothermal vents like the ones we know from the ocean floors of our planet, although this remains pure speculation. Some scientists think the origin of life on Earth occurred at such volcanic vents.

What is ‘Halal meat’ and what does that mean?

Animal rights people may want to make themselves aware of this. Warning, this is very, very harsh.

wilderssupport — April 13, 2010 — This video starts by showing the Western humane “Bolt Gun” method of instant slaughter. The remainder of the video then shows the Islamic Halal method of slaughter. Halal is the Sharia Law prescribed method of ritual killing involving the cutting of animals throats and letting them bleed to death. Halal killed animal products are being pushed into the mainstream consumer production of animal stuffs and taken up by the likes of Mc Donnalds and other well known fast food outlets. Are you eating according to Islam’s Sharia without your knowledge? Contains graphic and upsetting content. Please don’t let children watch.

The Myth of ‘stolen Palistinian Land’

It is my opinion that, as it has been said in the past, “Truth is the first casualty of war.” as such, the current war on the Jews waged world wide and especially hard at Western universities, it is widely accepted that the ‘Jews’ have perpetuated some kind of injustice on the Arab or Muslim peoples of the general area of Israel. Below, is a trailer for a fantastic documentary on exactly this subject. I post this as a kind of preview, as it is my expectation, that tonight or tomorrow, I will be uploading a documentary from French CBC in Canada, about the ‘Israel Lobby’ and how disproportionately powerful it is.

I have not yet seen it, but from what I have heard, it is the kind of ‘gas-in-the-truck on the way to Chrystal Nacht’ one would expect in pre war Germany.

This was shown on Canadian State TV, although granted, the sitting government does not directly influence what CBC shows when it is a conservative government.

In any case, its good to post a little truth now and again, and while we are still allowed to.

AFGHANI WARLORD SAYS TALIBAN HOLDS 90% OF THE COUNTRY

Sirajuddin Haqqani
We control the sun and moon as well,
not to mention all the poppy fields

Obama stated during the last presidential elections that the Bush administration took its eye off the ball by going into Iraq, not into Afghanistan. The reasons for the US going into Iraq, in contrast to how it first took down the Taliban, driving them out of power early on in the fighting, are many.

One of those reasons being, the Afghanis are far from being a unified state, with the overwhelming majority of the people falling along tribal lines and desperately illiterate and poor. The terrain was also another factor as well as the history of the region, Afghanis excel in fighting guerrilla wars from obscure caves and crevices, besides, it’s just to difficult of a region to properly cover and to defend.

So given the above reasons, as well as the belief that Saddam Hussein had WMD’s, as well as plans to further develop them (please read the Duelfer Report) once the UN sanctions were finally busted/rescinded, gave the US all the reasons it needed to resume hostilities (meaning ending the cease fire) with Iraq and drive Saddam from power. That said, it’s a good thing that the West isn’t facing both Iraq and Iran concerning the race to build a nuke bomb, and we have George W.Bush and US allies like the UK and Denmark etc., to thank.

The following article, no matter the degree to which this Taliban leader is bloviating, shows why Afghanistan would always be the second choice for the Bush administration to place US soldiers on the ground. Right now, his wisdom in tackling Iraq first is proving to have been a sound policy. KGS

Afghanistan: Taliban ‘controls 90% of country’

Kabul, 13 April (AKI) – Taliban militants control 90 percent of Afghanistan and are cooperating with Arab Al-Qaeda fighters on the ground, according to Pakistani warlord Sirajuddin Haqqani. He made the claim in an interview posted in Arabic to several jihadist websites.

“We Taliban currently control 90 percent of Afghan territory, and the mujahadeen (‘holy warriors’) control the rest of the country,” said 30-year-old Haqqani.

“We are cooperating closely with foreign fighters on the battlefield,” he said.

He is the son of the powerful Haqqani network’s leader Sirajuddin Haqqani and is described by jihadist sites as a member of the Taliban tribal council in the southeastern provinces of Paktika and Khost.

“The occupying forces and apostates are confined to just a few places,” he added.

MANFRED GERSTENFELD GETS BROADSIDED BY THE UNETHICAL JOURNALISTIC PRACTICES OF NORWAY’S SIDSEL WOLD

Sidsel Wold: Journalistic ethics?
I never let them stop me

This Norwegian woman is beneath contempt, and as the Tundra Tabloids fears, sadly represents what is considered the best of the best in Norwegian journalism. The Tundra Tabloids remembers how the two radical leftist activist doctors of, Gilberts and Fosse, received a standing ovation from the press corps during the unvealing of their (then) new book about the Gaza war in 09′. As far as the TT has been able to ascertain, only the Sec-Gen of the Norwegian Press Association, Per Edgar Kokkvold, voiced any criticism of the open display of partisanship by the Norwegian media.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise then, that a Norwegian journalist who covers the ME beat in Israel for Norwegian state radio, NRK, Sidsel Wold, resorts to the very same contemptuous journalistic behavior that apparently has become the norm for those plying that trade in Norway. According to the Norway, Israel and the Jews blog, in a recent interview with the JCPA’s Manfred Gerstenfeld, who edited “Behind the Humanitarian Mask”:

After an interview with a Norwegian journalist he (Manfred Gerstenfeld) was misquoted throughout the Scandinavian peninsula and subsequently ridiculed and demonized. Last week, he published the Norwegian translation of an updated version of the same book, following which he was interviewed by NRK journalist Sidsel Wold. You find the transcript from the interview below. Notice the following:

1: Throughout the 3 minute interview, Gerstenfeld is allowed to speak only for 20 seconds. After this Sidsel Wold takes over. Instead of Wold asking questions and Gerstenfeld answering, Wold answers her own questions herself.

2: It is unclear when Wold is quoting Gerstenfeld for something he has said, when she is quoting him for something he has written, and when she is just expressing her own personal opinon of what Gerstenfeld really believes.

3: At the end of the interview, Wold concludes by straying onto a completely different issue, suggesting that Israel under Netanyahu’s government is witnessing McCarthyism.

Well, it doesn’t end there. The Tundra Tabloids has received permission from Dr.Gerstenfeld to publish an email he sent to Wold on April 8, 2010, that fully describes the depth, width and breadth of her deception, and manipulation of his words that were spoken in a three minute interview she conducted, in which Dr.Gerstenfeld was allowed to speak for only for 20 seconds.

The article originally published by Sidsel Wold is available in both English and in the original Norwegian viewable below the fold. KGS

8 April 2010
Dear Sidsel,

You informed me that you lost the text of my interview with you and that you have broadcast another text which you call an “interview” with me, a copy of which you have sent me.
I gave the text of this so-called “interview” with me to a Norwegian acquaintance of mine to transcribe and translate, (for full text, see below).

What emerges is that this so-called “interview” is, in fact, a mix of the following three elements:

a) some quotes of mine, where I speak for a very short period;

b) several statements which you attribute to me, a substantial number of which I never made and are your inventions;

c) your own remarks which, to different extents, it is unclear to the listener whether they are yours or mine.

The Ethics Code of the Society of Professional Journalists states that journalists should “Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid inadvertent error. Deliberate distortion is never permissible.” Your text flagrantly breaks these rules.

Examples of false quotes attributed by you to me:

I did not say that all Norwegian bishops are out to get Israel with the exception of one. I could not say that as I have read about the position of four bishops in total, three of who are against Israel.

I did not specifically name any Israeli NGOs which spread hatred of Israel. This subject is the specialized domain of NGO Monitor and I did not enter into details on this subject. As far as I know NGO Monitor does not claim that all the organizations you mention are spreading hate of Israel. The insertion of the names, in what are supposedly quotes of mine read out by you in the interview, are falsifications. You inserted the names of the organizations on your own initiative

I did not say that most of the journalists and academia are out to get Israel. Indeed, many journalists who deal with Israel are anti-Israeli and in the academia there are key figures and others who are extreme anti-Israelis.

I did not say that the aim of these anti-Israelis is to hit the Jews. Their aim is to hit Israel.

I did not say that Norway is credible. What I said is that Norway has “the image of being credible”, which is something radically different.

You say in the broadcast text:

“He believes that those who criticize Israel today are anti-Semites and that Norwegian elites are the worst of them all. Yes, Norway is the spearhead of the world when it comes to disseminating of Jew-hatred, illegitimate anti-Israeli criticism, he believes.”

This is a radically false construction made by you which has nothing to do with what I believe. You have manipulated a variety of texts, which you attribute to me, and on the basis these manipulations you falsely construct my “beliefs.”

When you lost the tape you had a number of honest options:

1) not to broadcast the interview;

2) try to contact me in Norway which was not all that difficult. You could have called my secretary or my home for my contact details;

3) accurately quote texts from my book Behind the Humanitarian Mask, Israel and the Jews, The Nordic Countries, Israel and the Jews, a copy of which I gave you.

You chose a fourth option: to produce a constructed text which contained a large number of fallacies, air them during a short broadcast, and attribute them to me. I now wish be given equal air time, in which only my words will be broadcast, in answer to questions without any independent comments by you.

If I do not receive a satisfactory answer from you before 11 April 2010, I will feel free to take any steps I deem necessary.

As this correspondence concerns an item which was broadcast and was aired in the public domain, I do not consider the contents confidential.

Yours sincerely
Manfred Gerstenfeld

Mulsim shoe tossing sanctioned as cultural ‘symbolic’ gesture

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3644/3427824987_e0c07ae8ef.jpg

From The Telegraph U.K.

Muslim protesters ‘will be allowed to throw their shoes’

The Metropolitan Police has quietly sanctioned the throwing of shoes by Muslim protesters on the grounds that it is “a symbolic” political gesture rather than a criminal act of violence.

Published: 7:30AM BST 12 Apr 2010

The ruling emerged after a judge in the case of Aquib Salim, 21, a student who threw a shoe during last year’s Gaza protests in London dismissed a charge of violent disorder for the act.

His comments, at Isleworth Crown Court, mean that many of the 70 mainly Muslim protesters charged with violent disorder following the protests outside the Israeli embassy could also escape prosecution if they threw shoes rather than other missiles.

It has since been confirmed by the Crown Prosecution Service that the judge’s decision was based partly on guidance issued by police in 2008 shortly after an Iraqi journalist threw a shoe at George Bush during a press conference in Baghdad.

It has led to an increase in the practice, with protesters hurling shoes at Downing Street and at the US consulate in Edinburgh during the Gaza protests.

Chris Holt, Salim’s solicitor, said his client was likely to escape with a suspended sentence for another offence of throwing a stick at police – an offence to which he pleaded guilty.

“The court accepted that the earlier shoe-throwing incident was simply a ritual form of protest and therefore not a criminal act of violence,” he said.

The form of protest is based on the Muslim belief that shoes and particularly their soles are unclean.

Lindsey German, of the Stop the War coalition which has led a series of protests against the Iraq and Afghan wars, said the group sought advice from police on shoe-throwing for a protest outside Downing Street after the Baghdad protest.

“They said that was OK and there was a facility allowed for people to bring old pairs of shoes. Afterwards, they joked that they didn’t realise we were going to throw the shoes so hard,” she told The Sunday Times.
