Al Qaeda in Brazil, Part 3: The Land of the Dumb and the Stupid

Another stunning post right from Gates of Vienna:

by Baron Bodissey

Our Brazilian correspondent Rocha has translated a fascinating article about the activities of Al Qaeda in Brazil. Here’s what Rocha has to say about it:

Once in a while I see interesting news stories about Brazil. Here is one of them. The writer is Josias de Souza, a columnist who writes for Folha de São Paulo, the biggest Brazilian newspaper.

He is also a leftie, but apart from Reinaldo Azevedo and Olavo de Carvalho, who isn’t in Brazilian newspapers?

And the translated article:

Police chief describes how “terrorism” infiltrates Brazil

  • In the past, extremists used the country as a stopover
  • Then they adopted children of prostitutes to stay in the country
  • After that, they seduced Brazilians with a “radical song”
  • Now they prepare actions from here against targets abroad

The revelations above were made by Police Chief Daniel Lorenz. Until the beginning of June he was the director of intelligence of Policia Federal [Brazilian FBI]. A week after leaving his office, he spoke to an audience at the Commission of Public Safety of the House of Representatives.

The session was convened by Raul Jungmann (PPS-PE), president of the commission, with the purpose of identifying the “actions of members of terrorist groups” in Brazil. The reporter received, last week, copy of the transcript from the audience. This Sunday (23), Jungmann published the full text on his blog.

Lorenz measured his words: “As the session is an open one, I will not enter into details in this matter.” Yet he delineated a crystal-clear scene. He said that PF only began to worry about terrorism in 1995.

Since that time the problem has been aggravated. Lorenz divided the crisis into four stages. In the beginning, Brazil was used by terrorists as a stopover. Today, said the Police Chief, the country is already a headquarters for the preparation of attacks on targets abroad.

Below is a summary of the four stages described by the Police Chief:

1. First stage: It was in this stage that PF determined that foreign “extremists” were using Brazil as an stopover. They passed mainly through the region of the tri-border area (Brazil-Argentina-Paraguay).

Lorenz confirmed something that was already in the news. In 1995 Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who would be known as the third man in the hierarchy of Al Qaeda, “entered by Rio de Janeiro and left by São Paulo.” The terrorist stayed briefly in Foz do Iguaçu.

The Police Chief was sorry because he could not go into details. But made it clear that Shaikh Mohammed was not here on vacation. “He was there, evidently, not to drink a beer nor to be a part of Carnaval, much less for the end-of-year festivities.”

Arrested in Pakistan in 2003, Shaikh Mohammed was taken to the yankee prison of Guantanamo and accused of participating in the September 11 attacks.

2. Second stage: Extremists used the laxness of Brazilian laws to “legalize” their permanence in the country. “I will not enter into details, because I can’t talk about it,” was the excuse again for Lorenz. But he specified:

“They sought a permanent visa in the country by means of […] adoption of Brazilians. That is, the adoption of the children of other people. They got close to women of easy living [prostitutes], adopted their children, and gained the condition of permanent residence in Brazil. That happened, that was the result, and that was very much followed by us. That would be the second moment.” Continue Reading →

Religion of peace has love in. 30 dead. Love shack toasted.

This is old news now. A branch of Al Queda moved into a mosque in Gaza and informed Hamas that they had become too liberal and that Al Queda was taking over and challenged Hamas to come and throw them out. A Challenge Hamas gleefully accepted. Below, is some footage allegedly taken by Fatah supporters of the execution of some captured Al Queda members by Hamas.
Very big thank you to Ron Tennenbaum for doing the translation. This is what it looks like when two separate factions of the religion of peace get together for a love in. One group clearly felt that the other had lost the way to perfect peace and needed to be killed for it.

Hamas crushes al Qaeda-inspired group in Gaza

Gaza Al Queda

Updated Sat. Aug. 15 2009 2:25 PM ET

The Associated Press

RAFAH, Gaza Strip — Hamas crushed an al Qaeda-inspired group in an hours-long standoff that came to a fiery end when a large explosion killed the radical Muslim group’s leader inside his Gaza home on Saturday.

The fighting was sparked by a rebellious sermon by the group’s leader, and his dramatic death put an end to the greatest internal challenge to Hamas’ rule since it took control of Gaza two years ago.

In all, the fighting claimed 24 lives — including that of a senior Hamas official who Israel says masterminded the abduction of an Israeli soldier. It was the highest death toll in the territory since the Israel-Hamas war earlier this year.

The crackdown targeted Jund Ansar Allah, or the Soldiers of the Companions of God, one of a number of small, shadowy groups that are even more radical than Hamas. The decisive confrontation, in which 95 group members were arrested, solidified Hamas’ iron rule in Gaza.

The radical groups have sought to expand the Palestinians’ battle beyond Israel to include the Western World as well. And in Gaza they have tried to enforce a strict version of Islamic law to which Hamas has not agreed. They have also attacked Internet cafes and wedding parties over behaviour they consider improper.

The crackdown highlights Hamas’ desire to limit its struggle to the Palestinian cause and to distance itself from militants espousing al Qaeda’s ideology, though the United States, Israel and others consider Hamas a terrorist organization.

The fighting broke out late Friday when Hamas security men surrounded a mosque in the southern Gaza town of Rafah on the Egyptian border where about 100 members of Jund Ansar Allah were holed up.

Their leader, Abdel-Latif Moussa, provoked Hamas by declaring Gaza an Islamic emirate during a Friday prayer sermon and warning its leaders against invading his mosque.

The Hamas forces raided the mosque, setting off a fierce gunbattle. Flares lit up the sky and the sound of machine-gun fire echoed throughout the night.

Moussa escaped with some bodyguards to his home where another standoff ensued. Early Saturday, an explosion went off as Hamas was trying to convince Moussa to surrender, said Ihab Ghussein, a Hamas Interior Ministry spokesman.

“The so-called Moussa has committed suicide … killing a mediator who had been sent to him to persuade him and his followers to hand themselves over to the government,” Ghussein told The Associated Press.

It is unclear whether Moussa detonated the explosives vest he was wearing, or whether it was one of his bodyguards.

Dr. Moaiya Hassanain of the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said 24 people were killed, including six Hamas police officers and an 11-year-old girl. At least 150 people were wounded, he said.

Hamas confirmed one of its casualties was a high-ranking commander, Abu Jibril Shimali, whom Israel said orchestrated the capture three years ago of Sgt. Gilad Schalit, an Israeli soldier who is still being held by Hamas.

Jund Ansar Allah first came to public attention in June after it claimed responsibility for a failed attempt to attack Israel from Gaza on horseback. The group claims inspiration from al Qaeda’s ultraconservative brand of Islam, but no direct links have been confirmed.

The group has been critical of Hamas for not imposing a more severe form of Islamic law and for maintaining a cease-fire with Israel for the past seven months.

Hamas says it does not impose its religious views on others, but only seeks to set a pious example for people to follow. Hamas also maintains that its struggle is against Israel only, while the radical splinter groups call for a global jihad against the entire Western world.

“They are inspired by unbalanced ideologies and in the past they carried out a number of explosions targeting Internet cafes and wedding parties,” said Ghussein, adding that the groups do not have any external ties.

Israel has charged that terrorists with links to Osama bin Laden have infiltrated Gaza. Hamas has denied this, while trying to distance itself from the more radical groups.

“All of this unacceptable behaviour is rejected in our society. We are a Muslim community and we don’t need sick-minded people to dictate their agenda on our people,” said Hamas lawmaker Ismail al-Ashkar.

This weekend’s violence marked the most serious internal opposition Hamas has faced since it seized control of Gaza and ousted its rivals in the Fatah movement in a five-day civil war in June 2007.

The Gaza Strip and the West Bank are together supposed to make up a future Palestinian state, but the rival governments in the two territories — located on opposite sides of Israel — are complicating Palestinian efforts to gain independence.

Fatah official Saeb Erekat was quick to comment on the developments, saying “Gaza is going down the drain in chaos and lawlessness.”

Also Saturday, Hamas said it was investigating the launching of 11 homemade rockets from Gaza into Egypt. Only five of the rockets detonated, injuring a young girl, according to Egyptian security forces.

‘Al-Qaeda link’ to Jakarta hotel bombings

“Jihad and terrorism are not something to be afraid of or avoided, because to cause terror to Allah’s enemies is the instruction of Islam,” said an article by the “Prince of Jihad” which appeared on Ar-Rahmah’s website after the hotel attacks.

The enemies of Allah are all those who do not admit he is the one God and that Mohammed was his prophet. About 75% of the Earths population.

NEWS.COM… INDONESIAN police are pursuing an al-Qaeda connection to the twin suicide attacks on Jakarta hotels, after confirming that a suspect in custody had been a follower of Osama bin Laden.

National police chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri said the suspect, Indonesian publisher and Islamist blogger Mohammed Jibril Abdurahman – known on the internet as the “Prince of Jihad” — was once a member of al-Qaeda.

Mohammed Jibril was arrested outside Jakarta late on Tuesday on suspicion of channeling money from abroad to finance the July 17 attacks on the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels, which killed nine people including three Australians and the two bombers.

The blasts marked the bloody end of a four-year hiatus in such attacks in the world’s most populous Muslim country, and have been blamed on a terror network led by Malaysian extremist Noordin Mohammed Top.

Asked by reporters whether Mohammed Jibril had been a member of al-Qaeda, Danuri said “yes.”
“Let the process proceed, there will be more developments,” he said, without elaborating.

Noordin, 41, is the most wanted extremist in Indonesia and calls his group “al-Qaeda in the Malay Archipelago.”He allegedly received al-Qaeda backing for an attack on the Marriott in 2003 which killed 12 people, and is also accused of masterminding attacks on the Australian embassy in 2004 and tourist restaurants in Bali in 2005.

Police say they have killed three cell members and arrested five since July 17, including a Saudi national who allegedly smuggled money from abroad to pay for the operation. Continue Reading →

Ramadan and the surge of violent jihad

Muslim world braces for Ramadan violence

The Muslim holy month often coincides with a spike in violence.

—————-

More than one billion Muslims mark the start of Ramadan on Friday – their holiest month of the year, devoted to prayer, fasting and charity.

But for a small minority, it is also regarded as an auspicious time to escalate violence in the name of jihad.

As a result, experts expect a surge in terrorism attacks during Ramadan, when most Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset in a spiritual exercise that teaches discipline, self-restraint and generosity.

This week, in the run-up to Ramadan, hundreds of Muslims were murdered in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Yemen and Somalia.

Seven massive car bombs exploded in Iraq on Wednesday, killing 96 people and injuring 536; yesterday four suicide bombers attacked police posts in Chechnya, just days after a bomb outside a police station in neighbouring Ingushetia killed 25 people and injured 160. Fierce fighting also exploded in Somalia on Friday, killing 22 people, as Islamist rebels launched a Ramadan offensive against African Union peacekeepers in Mogadishu. Continue Reading →

Somalia violence kills 24

Mogadishu. Fri 21.08.09CBC NEWS… At least 24 people are dead after Islamist insurgents battled government forces and African Union peacekeepers in Mogadishu Friday.

The bloodshed comes a day after fighting killed at least 40 people in central Somalia as both sides tried to gain control of strategic towns.

Rebels launched a pre-dawn attack Friday on an African Union base, sparking the firefight. Residents hid in their homes as mortars slammed into the city.

Government troops and African Union peacekeepers control only a few blocks of Mogadishu, but that includes key government buildings as well as the port and airport. The insurgents control the most of rest of Somalia.

The country has been thrown into anarchy since warlords overthrew dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991, then turned on each other. President Sheik Sharif Ahmed, elected in January, has been unable to unite the country’s feuding factions.

The al-Shabab insurgent group operates openly in the capital, seeking to overthrow the government and impose a strict form of Islam in Somalia.

Hamas defence against Al Queda termed a ‘massacre.’ Film on French TV at 11:00

From MAANNEWS by way of The Religion of Peace. I bet French TV is lining up to buy the Al Queda version of these events. Or the Hamas version. Either way, the irony is enjoyable. Hamas now knows the sting of it’s own tactics. They are accused of collaborating with the Jews here. Hamas is the organization that hangs people if they sell land to Jews.

Bethlehem – Ma’an – Websites linked to Al-Qaeda criticized Hamas’ operation against the Salafi group Jund Ansar Allah (Soldiers for God) in the Gaza Strip on Friday, accusing the de facto government of “abdicating from Islam,” CNN Arabic reported on Wednesday night.

The unnamed websites, which the report said were closely affiliated with Al-Qaeda, urged the group’s followers to take action against Hamas. They specifically called on Osama Bin Laden and his assistant Ayman Al-Zawahiri.

A statement on the website from unnamed sources, groups expressed condolences for the death of Sheikh Abdul Latif Moussa, the leader of Jund Ansar Allah. Moussa lead hundreds of supporters to a Rafah mosque on Friday and declared the area an “Islamic emirate.” Hamas-allied fe facto government police and members of Hamas’ armed wing said they were forced to react to the group when shots were fired in a civilian area. Clashes broke out culminating in 24 dead including six government officers, six civilians including two young girls, and 12 Jund Ansar Allah gunmen.

The Al-Qaeda groups’ statement called Moussa a “martyr,” saying he was killed by “the bullets and the rockets of Hamas government.” Hamas sources said the ultra-Islamist leader detonated explosives that were strapped to his body.

The statement linked the Hamas action, termed a “massacre” against Jund Ansar Allah, with clashes that took place last summer between Hamas police and members of another radical group, the Army of Islam, in the Ash-Shyjayyiah area of Gaza City.

Hamas was further accused of working against Islamic groups and “Serving the Jews who occupy Palestine, and the Christians who fight against Iraq, Afghanistan Somalia and Chechnya.”

Saudi Arabia Arrests 44 Suspected Militants

[kaltura-widget wid=”r9yebntkdc” width=”410″ height=”364″ addpermission=”3″ editpermission=”3″ /] Like Pakistan, the Saudis are only concerned with Islamic terrorists when it effects them personally.

FOX NEWS…RIYADH, Saudi Arabia  —  The Saudi Interior Ministry says authorities have arrested 44 suspected militants who sought to recruit youths and finance their “deviant activities” through charitable donations.

In a statement carried Wednesday by the official Saudi Press Agency, the ministry says the 44 were arrested in a campaign that began July 9 and ended Aug. 2.

It says some of those arrested have received training on the use of light and heavy weapons in the kingdom and abroad. It says all but one are Saudi.

Saudi Arabia has pursued an aggressive campaign against militants since May 2003, when they first began attacks in the kingdom. The country is the birthplace of Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden and home to 15 of the 19th Sept. 11 hijackers.

95 killed on Iraq’s deadliest day since U.S. handover

These terror attacks are nothing to do with trying to grab power in Iraq. They are only to punish those who do not hold the same views as the attackers. To think that al-Qaeda members can justify and celebrate the mass slaughter of  fellow Muslims shows their evil knows no limit.

baghdad_giBAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — A series of bombings rocked Iraq’s capital within one hour Wednesday, killing at least 95 people and wounding 563 others, an Iraqi Interior Ministry official said.

The six explosions marked the country’s deadliest day since the United States pulled its combat troops from Iraqi cities and towns nearly two months ago and left security in the hands of the Iraqis.

In one attack, a truck bomb exploded outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — a blast that blew through the front of the building, sending some vehicles flying and leaving others in mangled twists of metal.

Nearby, Iraqi security forces stood with shocked expressions as ambulances screamed past.

Another truck bomb went off outside the Ministry of Finance building.

In central Baghdad, a roadside bomb exploded on Kifa Street, and another bomb exploded in the Salhiya neighborhood, where on Tuesday security forces had avoided injuries by successfully defusing a truck bomb. Wednesday’s other two bombs exploded in eastern Baghdad’s Beirut Square, officials said.

“The terrorism attacks that took place today require, without a doubt, the re-evaluation of our plans and our security mechanisms to face the challenges of terrorism,” Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said in a written statement.

U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Chris Hill and Gen. Ray Odierno, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, issued a joint statement condemning the bombings.

“The horrific injuries and loss of life witnessed in Baghdad today are terrorist attacks that serve no legitimate purpose,” they said.

The attacks “will not deter Iraqis from continuing their efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous society and engage the international community, nor will they weaken our resolve to help them in their efforts,” they added.

Two people believed to be connected to the bombings have been arrested, an official with the Iraqi army told CNN. Continue Reading →

The Canadian Bar Association has a crush on Omar Khadr

This column written by Ezra Levant, appears in today’s National Post. It perfectly describes the left’s ongoing love affair with Canada’s #1 poster-boy of terrorism, Omar Khadr.

Ezra Levant: The Canadian Bar Association’s Khadr fetish

Posted: August 19, 2009, 9:45 AM by NP Editor ,

The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) has a crush on Omar Khadr. The left-leaning lawyers’ club held its convention in Dublin last week, but even Ireland’s charms couldn’t get their minds off the accused terrorist, still detained in Barack Obama’s prison at Guantanamo Bay.

The spark for the CBA’s latest pronouncement on the matter was a decision of the Federal Court of Appeal, ordering the Canadian government to seek Khadr’s repatriation (the government is considering an appeal). But the CBA doesn’t need a reason to talk about their favourite cause. Khadr has been the subject of more CBA press releases than everyone else on the planet combined.

The CBA is obsessed. A search of its website yields 232 items about Khadr. What about other Canadians trapped overseas, such as Huseyn Celil, a Canadian citizen currently being held on trumped-up charges by China, or William Sampson, who was held and tortured in Saudi Arabia? They are non-persons to the CBA — no press releases for them, and no mentions on its website.

Al-Qaida plotting ‘spectacular attacks’ in UK: Report

Times of India

Abdullah al-FaisalLONDON: Extremists linked to the al-Qaida have claimed that home-grown terrorists are plotting “spectacular attacks” in Britain, a news report said on Monday.

According to reports, the al-Qaida militants have labeled Britain and Europe as a bigger enemy than the United States in an internet magazine favoured by the extremists.

The website, promoted by supporters of extremist cleric Abdullah al-Faisal [another convert to the religion of death] who was deported from Britain after serving a jail sentence for inciting violence, warns of “spectacular attacks”, The Sun reported today.

The British tabloid said the strikes are being planned by terrorists living in Britain in coordination with others overseas.

Security experts in the UK have warned repeatedly that al-Qaida inspired home-grown terrorism is the number one challenge for Britain. Gordon Brown continues to ignore the warnings

A recent report has called for reform of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) to allow an expert on ‘home-grown’ terrorism to sit on the top security panel and to be consulted when assessing potential security risks.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown had earlier underlined that most of the terrorist plots that took place in Britain had their links Pakistan and Afghanistan, where the al-Qaida and Taliban militants have been fighting the US-led Nato forces.

“Three-quarters of the terrorist plots that hit Britain derive from Pakistan and Afghanistan and it is to make Britain safe and the rest of the world safe that we must make sure we honour our commitment to maintain a stable Afghanistan,” Brown said.

‘Jihad Shielas’ showing that Islam really is for psychopaths

H/T jdamn

These women love the ‘clay pot’ logical fallacy. “I never borrowed your clay pot and it was broken when I got it.” It is their defence for nearly every time they are caught working with the enemies of Western Civilization.

It is also critical to understand what she and other Muslims mean when they say “Defend Islam with my life.” It means enforce Islam’s laws customs rules and edicts on us as Islam commands. Islam has many examples of lingusistic slight of hand and these women use them all. ‘Defence’ means attack you if you stop us from ruling you. ‘Innocent’ means a Muslim and ‘Guilty’ means an infidel. ‘Peace’ means we agree not to attack you until we have a strategic advantage and so on. This documentary is made from the perspective of these two Muslim converts. So stop it now and again and think about what you hear and see from these women. It’s like the old joke:

‘How do you know XXX is lying? Her lips are moving.’

In this case, its a studied practiced and codified system of fooling the non Muslim in order to rule them dating back to the time of Mohamed. Even Thomas Jefferson was taken in by a fake ‘peace treaty’ one in English, and the other not and the two treaties said radically different things.

24 Palestinians Killed as Rival Islamic Groups Clash in Gaza

Abdel-Latif MoussaVOA NEWS… At least 24 Palestinians have been killed and more than 120 wounded in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip during clashes between rival Islamic militant groups.

Hamas security forces launched a fierce assault on a mosque in Gaza, and the leader of a rival Islamic group inspired by al-Qaida was killed along with many of his armed followers. Hamas officials say more than a dozen gunmen from Jund Ansar Allah, or the Soldiers of the Followers of God, were killed, as well as several Hamas policemen and an 11-year-old girl.

Hamas accused the leader of the group, Abdel-Latif Moussa, of treason after he gave a fiery sermon at Friday prayers.

Moussa declared Gaza an Islamic emirate – challenging Hamas rule with a more radical form of Islam. Hamas says Moussa was killed when he blew up an explosives vest he was wearing during the shootout.Israel has charged that al-Qaida, the group responsible for the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States, has infiltrated Gaza from the outside. But Ihab Ghussein, a spokesman for the Hamas Interior Ministry, denied that.

Ghussein said Moussa’s group was Palestinian and had no external ties. He said the group has carried out bomb attacks on Internet cafés and wedding parties, in what he described as a misguided attempt to impose Islamic Law on Gaza.

Since many Palestinians are secular, especially in the West Bank, Hamas has been reluctant to impose strict Islamic Law on Gaza, saying it prefers to set a pious example for people to follow.

Hamas seized control of Gaza in the Palestinian civil war two years ago, routing the Fatah forces of President Mahmoud Abbas, who now heads a more moderate government in the West Bank. Since then Hamas has violently quelled any resistance by Fatah and other groups in Gaza.

Responding to the latest clashes, Hamas said it put down a coup by “outlaws.”

Muslim Gang kills seven in Russian sauna

ChechnyaBBC NEWS…Russian police are hunting gunmen who killed seven women at a sauna and four policemen at a checkpoint in the troubled southern region of Dagestan.

The attack happened on Thursday in the town of Buynaksk, 41km (25 miles) from the regional capital Makhachkala.

Police say they know the identities of some of the gunmen, who fled into a forest after the attack.

Separately, four policemen and two militants were killed in a clash near Grozny, in neighbouring Chechnya.

Moscow has been keen to portray Chechnya and the region as an area returning to normal after years of unrest.

But these latest attacks form part of a wider pattern: a growing anti-Kremlin, Islamist insurgency that appears to be spreading across the North Caucasus, the BBC’s Gabriel Gatehouse reports.

On Friday police shot and killed three militants near a village in Dagestan’s Derbent district, officials say.

In Thursday’s attack in Dagestan, at least 15 gunmen opened fire on a traffic police checkpoint on the edge of Buynaksk, Russian media quoted local police as saying.

The gunmen are reported to have hijacked a minibus, which they later abandoned.

They went on to attack a sauna at a nearby health complex, killing seven women workers there.

Dagestan has been plagued by violence in recent years, much of it linked to the conflict between security forces and separatist rebels in Chechnya, a mainly Muslim Russian republic.

Russian forces have fought two wars against Islamist rebels in Chechnya since 1994. The conflicts claimed more than 100,000 lives and left it in ruins.

Clashes with militants are also common in Ingushetia, which borders on Chechnya to the west.
