Israel: Threat Warning Issued For India

Israel: Threat Warning Issued For India

September 17, 2009
Israel’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau at the National Security Council issued Sept. 17 an “imminent and concrete” threat warning for India, placing emphasis on the Jammu and Kashmir region, The Jerusalem Post reported. The bureau’s warning said a Pakistani militant organization associated with al Qaeda is planning to conduct several major attacks throughout India. The warning added that all Westerners in India are possible targets but that Israelis and locations where they gather are in greater danger.

Foreign troops launch Somali raid

Foreign soldiers have staged an attack on militants in Somalia, killing at least two people in a helicopter raid.

The troops, who according to some reports had uniforms with French insignia, attacked a vehicle carrying Islamists from the al-Shabab group.

Witnesses said the troops took away two men, and there were two bodies left in the road after the attack in the southern coastal town of Barawe.

A French military spokesman has denied its forces were involved.

“There was no French operation,” said admiral Christophe Prazuck, spokesman for the armed forces’ general staff, according to the AFP news agency.

He said the only French forces in the region were tackling pirates off the coast and did not intervene on land.

Witness Dahir Ahmed said that the helicopters had taken off from a nearby warship flying a French flag.

A spokesman for al-Shabab, which controls Barawe, has told the BBC that its forces were attacked but did not give any other details.

A village elder said four foreign helicopters were involved in the raid.

“A car was destroyed, we are also hearing that some of the vehicle’s passengers were taken on the helicopters,” he told AFP.

French commandos have launched raids in the past to rescue their citizens from pirates or militants. There is a French military base in neighbouring Djibouti.

The assault comes several weeks after a Frenchman held by militants in Mogadishu managed to get free.

The US has also carried out air strikes against Somali Islamist groups it accused of links to al-Qaeda in recent years.

Somalia has not had a functioning central government since 1991.

Rival Islamist factions are battling forces loyal to the weak UN-backed government, which only controls small parts of the capital Mogadishu.

Bin Laden: Obama ‘powerless’ in Afghanistan

CBC… President Barack Obama is “powerless” to stop the war in Afghanistan, al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden reportedly said in a tape released Monday.

Bin Laden, who is believed to be hiding in the mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, typically addresses the American people in a message timed around anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

“We have demonstrated and stated many times, for more than two and a half decades, that the cause of our disagreement with you is your support to your Israeli allies who occupy our land of Palestine,” bin Laden says in the 11-minute video, which shows a still picture of him.

“The delay in your knowing those causes has cost you a lot without any result whatsoever,” he said in the tape released by al-Qaeda’s media wing, as-Sahab in Cairo.

“This position of yours, combined with some other injustices, pushed us to undertake the events of [Sept. 11, 2001],” bin Laden said.

He said that if Americans realized the extent of the “suffering from the injustice of the Jews … you will realize that both our nations are victims of the policies of the White House,” which he described as “a hostage” to interest groups and companies.

Canadian soldier killed, four injured in Afghanistan IED blast

Ottawa Citizen… KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan — The price Canada pays for waging war in Afghanistan has risen once more with the death of Pte. Patrick Lormand, 21, who was killed in action Sunday when a Canadian armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

Pte. Lormand is the 130th soldier to die in Afghanistan since the mission began in 2002. Four other Canadian soldiers received minor injuries in the blast, and were treated and released from hospital.

Brig.-Gen. Jonathan Vance described Pte. Lormand as a proud and heroic infantryman who “came here to do right by Afghanistan, to serve Canada’s objective to help bring peace, a chance for lasting security and a better environment to live and raise a family.”

In praising Pte. Lormand, however, Gen. Vance also seemed to take aim at the growing voices of opposition to the war back home.

“He did not come here as a potential victim. He came here to help, and help he did. He does not need to be told his efforts are futile, for he could see positive results in the communities he was protecting.” said Gen. Vance. “Neither he nor his family benefit from uninformed opinions about what his goals were and the techniques he used to achieve them. You need only look into those young clear eyes to know that he was a good soul, who tried every day to do the right thing and saw in the results of his efforts a chance to succeed on a wider scale on behalf of Canadians and Afghans alike.”

Canada’s role in Afghanistan was sharply criticized by Senator Colin Kenny in an op-ed article published in some Canwest newspapers on the weekend.

“What we hoped to accomplish in Afghanistan is proving to be impossible,” wrote Mr. Kenny, chair of the Senate Committee on National Security and Defence. “We are hurtling toward a Vietnam ending.” Continue Reading →

Anjem Choudery makes his imitation Bin Laden film

Im sure lots of you have already seen this British born again Muslim moron’s “We will fly the flag of Islam over 10 Downing Street” video but I do suggest watching it again below. I think I brought it much closer to the real person. I do think it’s sort of cute how he imitates the classic ‘Bin-Laden-big-beard-in-front-of-the-jihad-flag’ sort of thing. Look familiar?

U.K.; 20 convicted Islamic terrorists freed from jail early

Released: Esayas Girma (left) was jailed for helping a 21/7 suicide bomber and Abu Baker Mansha (right) was caught carrying a converted pistol and the name and address of an Army corporal

MailOnline… Dozens of convicted Islamic terrorists are back on the streets after being freed early from jail.

Taxpayers now face a multi-million pound bill to keep tabs on the dangerous fanatics as 20 are set free and another 75 terrorists are due to be released over the next few years.

Among them are Muslim extremists jailed for offences including planning to kill soldiers, attending terror training camps and helping suicide bombers.

Most of those convicted of terrorism offences received short fixed jail terms and were released after serving two thirds of their sentence.

But because of continuing concerns about the threat they pose to national security, police and intelligence services will have to mount a huge surveillance operation to ensure that they do not plot further atrocities.

At least four of the 20 released recently are said to pose a high risk to the public, requiring 24-hour supervision by police and intelligence agents.

A fifth high risk offender, due to be released later this year will be placed in a hostel in the South East.

But police and probation staff fear they will be stretched to the limit by the release of almost 100 terrorists in the coming years.

The news comes after three British-born Muslims were convicted on Monday of trying to blow up seven transatlantic airlines using liquid bombs disguised as soft drinks in a plot to rival 9/11.

Although they face 40 years in jail, other bomb plotters are already free.

At least three people convicted of helping the 21/7 suicide bomb plotters are back out on the streets.

The organisers of the Danish cartoon protests in London, when fanatics hailed the 9/11 and 7/7 attacks are also free after their sentences were cut by a third on appeal.

Five Birmingham-based suspects among a gang led by Parvis Khan, convicted of masterminding a plot to behead a British Muslim soldier, have also been freed.

Around 75 Islamic extremists are due to be released in the next three to four years.

Among them is al-Qaeda trained terrorist Sohail Qureshi.

The East London dental assistant was arrested in October 2006 at Heathrow Airport on the way to Afghanistan where he planned to attack British troops.

Since 1999, at least 150 men have been convicted of terrorist offences, with 120 linked to al-Qaeda.

Of those, 115 were given determinate sentences which means they will be released after serving two thirds of their terms, despite being refused for parole in many cases. Continue Reading →

Malmo Firemen made to buy face shields and bullet proof vests

As many of you may or may not know, The Al Queda handbook teaches the Muslim ‘diaspera’ to create ‘no go zones’ by setting fires and other anti-social acts that require a response from the state, and then attacking the various institutions who respond such as fire, ambulance, police etc. in order to create zones which are under Islamic control and sharia law. This strategy has been employed to tremendous success all over Europe as leftist ‘politically correct’ bureaucrats and government agencies who are either, on side with Muslims and more often, afraid to mention the truth in case they lose the illusion of stable good governance with the electorate, fail to properly inform the public about what is analogous to a cancer growing in the social body.

This is todays manifestation of the western response. Swedish firemen being made to dress for war, rather than fire.

H/T Steen with many thanks. Any error in translation is mine.

From the Swedish paper, Aftonbladet:

Firemen in Malmo Sweden are forced to dress more for war than for fighting fires.

“One has to weigh the risk of a fire  spreading, to the risks for our personnel”

Rosengård firemen are forced to get helmts with  face shields and borrow military bullet-proff vests. ” We  have reinforced our cars, but  they have suffered substantial damage anyway.”
brandman2800_1017340b
“Once a day we  have alarm from Rosengård, and we  never  know  what will happen. We  want the police in place first. If there is no risk for the fire to spread, we often don’t go there at all.”

“Many fires are made, just to get us there. Jägerro firemen are now eguipped with special helmets, that protects the face  and the neck. This  winther, when it was  worst, we  were forced to borrow bullet-proff  vests from the military.”

One senior collegue has quit the force, as he did not feel he could guarantee the safety of his men. Several others have asked to be transferred to service elsewhere other than Malmo.

Sightseeing? Why not take in the 7/7 bombers’ mosque

Wonders never cease.

Church of England recommends 7/7 bombers’ mosque as tourist destination

A mosque used by the 7/7 suicide bombers is being promoted by the Church of England as a tourist destination.

The building in Beeston, which the leader of the terrorist gang used as a recruiting ground, is the only Muslim place of worship included in the Church’s official sightseeing guide to religious “staycations”.

It has prompted fresh calls for the Church – condemned last year when the Archbishop of Canterbury called for some aspects of Sharia to be adopted in Britain – to avoid further embarrassment by steering clear of all matters Islamic.

The established religion set up a new section of its website this summer, in order to capitalise on the trend for Britons hit by the recession to take their holidays at home.

It states: “If you are taking a staycation this year, make sure you visit your local church or cathedral – which, via its guidebooks, art and architecture, will more than likely offer an inspiring overview of the history of your area.”

Its guide to the religious attractions of 12 counties suggests days out to historic chapels, abbeys and cathedrals.

But the section on Yorkshire also recommends joining the Beeston Hill Faith Trail, a weekly walking tour that takes in a mosque linked to the 7/7 terrorists, as well as a Sikh temple and an Anglican church. Continue Reading →

Two fallen soldiers headed back to Canada

Maj. Yannick Pepin (left) and Cpl. Jean-Francois Drouin of the 5th Canadian Combat Engineers were killed in an IED strike south of Kandahar City on Sept. 6, 2009.

Maj. Yannick Pepin (left) and Cpl. Jean-Francois Drouin of the 5th Canadian Combat Engineers were killed in an IED strike south of Kandahar City on Sept. 6, 2009.

KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan — The most senior Canadian to die in combat in Afghanistan and one of his combat engineers began their long journey back to Canada on Monday after their flag-draped caskets were slowly marched on to a CC-130 Hercules transport as a lone piper skirled a sad lament.

Maj. Yannick Pepin, 36, of Victoriaville, Que., commander of the 51st Field Engineers Squadron of the 5th Combat Engineers, and Cpl. Jean-Francois Drouin, 31, of Quebec City, who served with the same unit, were killed and five other Canadians were injured Sunday when their armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Dand District, southwest of Kandahar City.

Three of the five wounded soldiers were released from hospital by Monday. All were listed in good condition.

Pepin and Drouin were the 128th and 129th Canadian soldiers to die in Afghanistan since the first Canadian troops came to this war-plagued nation early in 2002.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to their loved ones in this time of grief, and to the five other Canadian Forces members injured in this attack,” said Defence Minister Peter MacKay.

Quebec Premier Jean Charest said: “News of the death of Yannick Pepin and Jean-Francois Drouin distresses us deeply and touches all Quebecers . . . In the name of all Quebecers I salute their courage and generosity.”

Five weeks ago, after a ramp ceremony for two of his sappers, Pepin said: “Everybody has fear in a mission. If you don’t, you’re not normal.

“My sappers go first ahead of everyone to save the lives of civilians and soldiers.”

Despite the deaths on Aug. 1 of Sapper Matthieu Allard and Sapper Christian Bobbitt, Pepin, who joined the army in 1999, had said his unit would only take 12 hours to mourn before getting “back on the road.”

Sapper Alexandre Beaudin-D’Anjou of Quebec City, his face swollen and bloodied from wounds he suffered in Sunday’s blast, and Sapper Junior Lecours of Victoriaville, whose right arm was in a huge cast, stood to attention with some difficulty beside the rear door to the aircraft as the caskets of their fallen comrades passed by.

After the ceremony was completed, Beaudin-D’Anjou made an emotional appeal to his countrymen to try to understand the Afghan mission better.

“I want to say that part of the Canadian population negatively views the work that we do here, above all because they don’t understand what we do,” Beaudin-D’Anjou said, as Sapper Junior Lecours, of Victoriaville, whose arm was in a large cast, stood beside him.

“In my opinion the majority of the Afghan population benefits from what we do. Sadly, there are dangers in this, as you saw in yesterday’s incident. All the soldiers feel deeply that we will finish this work for one another.” Continue Reading →

International links linger after ‘Toronto 18’ member imprisoned

‘A worldwide battle’

Stewart Bell, National Post Published: Thursday, September 03, 2009

BRAMPTON — He has been called the Terrorist Mr. Fix-It. Aabid Hussein Khan was an avid al-Qaeda supporter who recruited young Muslims and arranged their passage to Pakistan for terrorist training.

Although he lived in central England, Khan travelled often, including to Toronto, where he intended to rent an apartment for recruits on their way to Pakistan’s network of weapons training camps.

“He was always spoken of in the sense of one who could facilitate travel to places for training and was particularly hopeful of having a place near Toronto, where his wife lived,” said Mubin Shaikh, who informed on Khan’s associates in Toronto for the RCMP.

Now in a British prison, Khan is considered a key figure in a terrorist network that spanned a half-dozen countries, including Canada. He is also one of a growing number of friends, associates and co-conspirators within that network who have been convicted of terrorist crimes following a series of overlapping investigations. Toronto 18 terrorist Khalid nets fourteen years in the clink

“Rome has to be defeated” “God is great”.

Electronic detonators, ammonium nitrate, rental trucks and cellphone-activated triggers. The Book of Jihad. The Virtues of Jihad.

” To begin with, I would like to make it clear I was not motivated by a hate of Canada, Canadians, democracy or Canadian values of freedom, civil liberties and women’s rights. I was instead motivated by issues of disagreement on Canadian foreign policy, specifically Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan and I thought I could make a difference”. BRAMPTON, Ont. — A man, 23, who admitted he was part of a plot to detonate truck bombs in downtown Toronto to protest Canada’s military involvement in Afghanistan, was sentenced to 14 years in prison Thursday.

Justice Bruce Durno called terrorism “the most vile form of criminal conduct” and said while Saad Khalid was not the prime mover behind the bomb plot, he had nonetheless, played a significant role.

“He was not just a gopher,” the judge said, adding Khalid had bought electrical components and recruited another person into the group. “He was not someone who just sat waiting for his next assignment without providing input.”

But Khalid could be released on parole in a little more than two years, since the judge gave him seven years credit for the time he has already served since his arrest on June 2, 2006. He was banned for life from possessing firearms or explosives.

“He’s perfectly happy with the outcome,” his lawyer Russell Silverstein told reporters outside the Brampton courthouse. “It could have been a lot worse.” The Crown had been seeking a term of 18 to 20 years. Continue Reading →

Canadians still split on Omar Khadr, poll shows

Khadr Harper LawsuitThe Toronto Star… OTTAWA–Canadians remain deeply divided on what should happen to Omar Khadr, the Canadian jailed at Guantanamo Bay, but a growing number believe he will be treated fairly if a U.S. military trial goes ahead, a poll shows.

Conducted by Angus Reid Strategies for the Toronto Star, the survey shows 42 per cent of Canadians believe Khadr should be brought back to face “due process under Canadian law.” That’s up from 37 per cent of Canadians more than a year ago.

Almost an equal amount, 40 per cent, think Khadr should be left to face trial by military commission at Guantanamo Bay. About 19 per cent are unsure what the best option is.

Khadr, now 22, was 15 when he was arrested in the 2002 death of a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan.

When asked about the prospects for a fair trial if Khadr is left to face justice in Guantanamo, 40 per cent agreed he would be treated fairly, up from 32 per cent a year ago. The number of those who disagreed – 45 per cent – also grew, up from 41 per cent.

A similar split exists over how the Conservative government is handling the case. Ottawa announced last week it will challenge Khadr repatriation orders to the Supreme Court of Canada, and 41 per cent agree with that move, while 40 per cent disagree.

A slim majority – 52 per cent – do not have sympathy for Khadr’s plight. That’s up seven points from last January. Just 38 per cent continue to sympathize with Khadr. About 11 per cent were unsure.

The online survey of a randomized sample of 1,006 Canadians was conducted late last week.

Suicide bomber gets a bum rap in Saudi Arabia:

Here is something you just don’t read ever day:

Okaz sources said the bomb was implanted in the attacker’s rectum, which could explain why he refused to drink coffee at the Prince’s Court.

H/T Fred over at Gay and right. (Now now, no jokes please.)

From The Saudi Gazzette:
Qaeda attack on Prince part of wider plot
By Abdullah Al-Orefij

RIYADH – The failed assassination attempt on Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, Assistant Minister of Interior for Security Affairs, Thursday night was planned by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula which operates from Yemen, sources confirmed.
The suicide bomber was recruited by Yemeni Nasser Al-Wohaishi, known also by the nom de guerre Abu Baseer, the sources said.
Al-Wohaishi is the head of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which had announced in an Internet posting last January the merger of the Saudi and Yemeni branches of Al-Qaeda.
The merger was seen by analysts as an attempt to consolidate after the Saudi branch of Al-Qaeda was practically wiped out following a vigorous counter-terrorism campaign led by Prince Muhammad.
According to Okaz sources, the bomber who detonated himself only a meter away from the Prince was part of a terrorist cell formed to target oil installations and public figures.
The sources said the bomber stayed in an apartment on Sari Street, northwest of Jeddah, Thursday.
He had slipped into the Kingdom from Mareb, east of Sana’a, Yemen’s Foreign Minister Abu-Bakr Al-Qirbi told The Associated Press.
“He was in Yemen,” said Al-Qirbi. “He claimed that he was going to hand himself over to Saudi authorities and make a statement to his followers to abandon Al-Qaeda principles.”
Okaz sources said the bomb was implanted in the attacker’s rectum, which could explain why he refused to drink coffee at the Prince’s Court. Continue Reading →
