Canada’s HRCs denounced in U.S. Senate

From Ezra Levant:

Here’s a clip from a debate on the floor of the U.S. Senate. After a preamble about the economy, Senator Jim DeMint from South Carolina uses Canada as an example of what the U.S. should avoid.

Not Iran. Not North Korea. But Canada.

How embarrassing that our human rights commissions have become an international icon of censorship. Here’s the clip:

RALEIGH, N.C. – A North Carolina man trained in Pakistan and Afghanistan has been charged along with six of his alleged recruits with conspiring to support terrorism and traveling overseas to participate in “violent jihad,” according to an indictment unsealed Monday.

Daniel Patrick Boyd, 39, and the six other men were arrested Monday and made their first appearances in Raleigh, charged with providing material support to terrorism.

“These charges hammer home the point that terrorists and their supporters are not confined to the remote regions of some far away land but can grow and fester right here at home,” U.S. Attorney George E.B. Holding said in a statement. He declined further comment.

The indictment said Boyd, a U.S. citizen, trained in Afghanistan and fought there between 1989 and 1992 against the Soviet Union before returning to the United States. Court documents charged that Boyd, also known as ‘Saifullah,’ encouraged others to engage in jihad.

Two of the suspects are Daniel Patrick Boyd’s sons: Zakariya Boyd, 20 and Dylan Boyd, 22. The others are Anes Subasic, 33; Mohammad Omar Aly Hassan, 22; and Ziyad Yaghi, 21.

Hysen Sherifi, 24, a native of Kosovo and a U.S. legal permanent was also charged. in the case. He was the only person arrested who was not a U.S. citizen.
All were residents of North Carolina, but it wasn’t immediately known where they lived. It was not immediately known if they had attorneys. No attorneys for the men were listed in court records.

The indictment claims Boyd traveled to Israel in 2007 with several of the defendants, hoping to engage in “violent jihad.” The attempt was unsuccessful, though, and the men returned home, officials said.

Boyd was also accused of trying to raise money last year to fund others’ travel overseas to fight. One of the men, Hysen Sharifi, allegedly went to Kosovo to engage in violent jihad, according to the indictment, but it’s unclear if he did any actual fighting.

Several of the defendants, including Boyd, were also charged with practicing military tactics on a private property in Caswell County in June and July of this year.

Family disowns Arizona girl, 8, after alleged gang sex assault

From: The Ottawa Citizen h/t Grace

By Maria PollettaJuly 24, 2009

PHOENIX – The family of an eight-year-old girl who was allegedly gang-sexually assaulted will not take her back into their home, declaring that the girl has dishonoured them.

Charges have been filed against four boys, ages nine to 14, suspected of sexually assaulting the girl in Phoenix, Arizona, last week, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

County attorney Andrew Thomas has requested the oldest boy be tried as an adult.

The boys are accused of luring the girl with chewing gum to a shed by a vacant apartment unit, then restraining her and taking turns sexually assaulting her, according to Phoenix police.

The boys and the victim were resettled Liberian refugees.

The girl was turned over to state Child Protective Services after her family disowned her, Phoenix Police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill said Wednesday. The girl’s parents blamed her for being victimized and bringing shame to the family, he said.

Thomas filed a criminal complaint against the 14-year-old suspect Wednesday, accusing him of two counts of sexual assault and one of kidnapping in the July 16 incident. He is being held without bond, which state law requires due to the nature of the crime.

The other three boys, aged nine, 10 and 13, will be prosecuted in juvenile court. The youngest faces a count of sexual assault, while the 10- and 13-year-old boys each face multiple counts of sexual assault and one of kidnapping, county attorney Andrew Thomas said in a news release.

The county attorney’s office has 15 days to determine whether to petition the court to transfer any of the remaining cases.

Ali Keita, a Liberian who immigrated to the United States in 1997, said the crime was “horrible” and “serious.”

As president of the Arizona Mandingo Association, Keita works with Liberian refugees to ease their integration into American society. Keita said many refugees he has worked with lived amidst rampant rape and brutal violence in Liberia, commonplace during the country’s recent civil war.

Keita suspects the four boys were no different.

“Most of those boys (probably) grew up in very broken family situations,” Keita said, explaining that many parents found it hard to maintain control over their children’s upbringing as rebel attacks constantly forced them to relocate.

But, he said, “there is no excuse for the crime, for the behaviour” of the four boys.

Keita was less clear when judging the girl’s family’s response to the situation.

Anger is common when Liberian families first find out a female relative has been raped or assaulted, he said, as they may question why girls were in a situation that left them open for attack.

Keita said that initial response likely stems from disappointment and frustration, not with the girl, but with the family’s circumstances.

“(As a parent), you feel like you’ve failed … to protect them,” he said.

Though Keita understood the root of the family’s initial anger, he firmly condemned the decision to disown the girl, which he said is not typical.

“(The family) should be the ones trying to get her all the help she can get,” he said. “You can’t blame the victims. Then, you’re victimizing them all over again.”

The former chief operating officer of a Massachusetts software design company was arrested Wednesday on a two-year-old indictment accusing him of failing to disclose a $10 million investment in his company from a suspected terror financier.
Buford George Peterson is charged with making false statements on a Small Business Administration loan application to hide the fact that a Specially Designated Global Terrorist held a substantial stake in Ptech. The Quincy, Massachusetts-based company made computer software for management systems.
Among Ptech’s customers were the FBI, IRS, Federal Aviation Administration, the departments of Education, Veterans Affairs, Energy and Agriculture, The U.S. Air Force and Naval Air Systems Command and NATO. Continue Reading →

David Horowitz tears Duke U a well deserved new orifice.

This is a bit old, 2007 I think. But if you have not seen it, get a drink and or a sandwich and settle down and watch this astonishing and daring lecture where Horowitz explains to Duke U what is wrong with it, and more courageously, who is wrong with it. I will post the Q&A session later today so check back for it, it is worth it. In the meantime enjoy this. I know it’s long but if only David had the time to go to all the universities especially perhaps Canadian ones and deliver this lecture exposing the various profs and their lack of credentials and not-so-hidden political agendas. This isn’t a speech so much as it is a spanking. A well deserved one.

The perfect companion film for this lecture would be the documentary ‘Indoctrinate U. I highly recommend this excellent film.

Medication that can protect humans against nuclear radiation has been developed by Jewish-American scientists in cooperation with a researcher and investors from Israel. The full story behind the dramatic discovery will be published in Yedioth Ahronoth’s weekend edition.

The ground-breaking medication, developed by Professor Andrei Gudkov – Chief Scientific Officer at Cleveland BioLabs – may have far-reaching implications on the balance of power in the world, as states capable of providing their citizens with protection against radiation will enjoy a significant strategic advantage vis-à-vis their rivals.

For Israel, the discovery marks a particularly dramatic development that could deeply affect the main issue on the defense establishment’s agenda: Protection against a nuclear attack by Iran or against “dirty bomb” attacks by terror groups. Continue Reading →

An anniversary that really does matter.

It is forty years now since humanity achieved something truly unimaginably stupendous. A moment I cannot think of without being covered in goosebumps. I do not know if any future generation will ever get to experience what I did when I was a boy just old enough to understand what was going on and remember it. One of my species, a human being rode a rocket ship, walked down a ladder, stepped on to Earth’s moon, got back on that ship and came home.

Until then, the idea of ever being able to actually go to the moon was thought to be impossible. When it did happen, it was perhaps the most unifying moment in all of human history. This was a moment when New York City policemen, some of the toughest people alive where in tears, and again during the parade for the Apollo 11 astronauts when they returned home. We, human beings led mostly by the United States and the vision of JFK, united the world. People from New Zealand to Karachi where all watching TV at the same moment with a profound sense of amazement that our view of our world and its neighbor satellite was about to change forever. That perhaps there was nothing humanity could not do if we just pulled together. Science could answer all questions and solve all problems. Superstition and its horrors where a thing of the past.

As I write I am trying to remove any trace of an agenda other than simply trying to express the wonder and the unity that was July 16 1969. This could be said to be the greatest moment of all human history and like perhaps all scientific achievement becomes the background of our lives and taken for granted after the fact.

If we land a man on mars it will not have the impact that the first moon landing did. We did not know if we could do it then. Anything natural or supernatural could have prevented it. Don’t laugh, many people felt secretly or not that something would happen to prevent man from landing on the moon. If you are at all able, try and rent or download the Australian film, ‘The Dish’.  This movie always brings back the magic of that moment for me. I do not know if people too young to remember the moon landing will get that feeling from this movie but I hope you do. In a simple naive way, this movie shows how Australia’s role in bringing the world the TV pictures from the landing was a major accomplishment in itself. The back story showing how major the front story was. Please do rent the Dish. If it gives you one tenth the pride and joy it does me, you will feel it well worth it.

As I think back on this day, perhaps the chance to have seen all humanity glow with a rare pride, as one people, led by the United States, basking in an accomplishment of proportions humanity barely dared dream of, is worth other less noble sights in this life.

May we find a way to a new moment like this, through accomplishment and unity instead of the more likely regret.

I like this photo because it captures the moment of a solitary human figure against the horizon of the Moon, along with a reflection in my helmet’s visor of our home away from home, the Eagle, and of Neil snapping the photo. Here we were, farther away from the rest of humanity than any two humans had ever ventured. Yet, in another sense, we became inextricably connected to the hundreds of millions watching us more than 240,000 miles away. As I reached for my Hasselblad, suddenly the Earth popped up over the horizon, directly behind Eagle. I could not have staged it any better, but the alignment was not of my doing, just a happy coincidence. I suspect a lot of good photography is like that, some serendipitous happenstance beyond the control of the photographer. But at any rate, as I clicked away, I realized that for the first time, in one frame, appeared three billion earthlings, two explorers, and one moon. The photographer, of course, was discreetly out of view.” (quoted with permission from Apollo Through the Eyes of the Astronauts) (NASA) #

Foiling the Next 9/11 and Not Even Knowing It

From Pajamas Media: H/T GAR

July 14, 2009 – by Ryan Mauro

The United States may have narrowly missed a repeat of the 9/11 attacks in June — and, apparently, even the FBI doesn’t realize it.

On June 4, a 24-year-old Muslim man named Raed Abdhul-Rahman Alsaif was arrested for trying to bring a seven-inch knife on board a U.S. Airways flight at Tampa International Airport, destined for Phoenix. The blade was seen by a screener and Alsaif was caught before he could get onto the airliner. Of course, he says he is innocent, as some forgetful friend gave him the luggage bag and failed to mention that a knife was embedded inside the material, which the criminal complaint states was “artfully” concealed in such a way as to allow for it to be retrieved once the flight took off.

Alsaif graduated from the Islamic Saudi Academy in Virginia in 2003. For those that don’t remember, this school has been embroiled in a little bit of controversy the past two years. In October 2007, the U.S. Commission on International Religion Freedom requested that the State Department close the school, citing the use of textbooks filled with extremism. The commission again reported on the school’s radical curriculum in June 2008. One graduate has been convicted of working with al-Qaeda, while two former students were kicked out of Israel upon landing due to clear signs they were planning suicide bombings.

Private investigator Bill Warner notes that when Alsaif was booked and photographed by police in October on his second arrest on drug charges, he had a beard — a beard that was shaven off before he attempted to board the U.S. Airways flight. For those that think this is all attributable to coincidence, there’s another key element to consider.

On the same day, June 4, two other individuals, Roshid Milledge and Damien Young, were arrested in Philadelphia after sneaking a handgun onto a flight. The airline? U.S. Airways. The destination? Phoenix. The departing time? About 35 minutes from the flight Alsaif attempted to board, using the same airliner and with the same destination.

The FBI immediately cast doubt on questions that the two were part of a terrorist plot or even connected to Alsaif. Continue Reading →

Obama’s America: Jews and Christians stay out!

Welcome to Obama’s America, where Islam represents the favored religion and a vital political force.

The transformed land of liberty was very much on view at the 14th Annual Arab International Festival in Dearborn, Michigan from June 19 to 21. Most readers, in this day of two-bit journalism and bughouse blogs, might dismiss the following account as phantasmagorical, save for the fact that friends of the Last Crusade has managed to capture the gala event on video. Click, watch, and scream.

The event was sponsored not only by the Ford Motor Company (we thought they were bankrupt) and the American Arab Chamber of Commerce but also (get this) by the FBI, the CIA and various representatives of the U.S. Military.

The 250,000 people who attended the event munched on rolled pita sandwiches, shawarma, tabouli, hummus and baklava. The men, in many cases, wore throbs and ghutras; the women were draped in black burqas, or western jeans, accented with veils.

The ribbon cutting, which got the festival underway, was conducted by State Senator Irma Clarke Coleman, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, and Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly.

The few Christians, who dared to venture forth on Warren Street to attend the festive gathering, were prohibited by law from distributing religious tracts and materials.

The order, which prohibited religious freedom to the Christians, came from U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmonds.

While there never has been a disruption of the public peace by Christians during the annual event, the Dearborn police kept vigilant watch for any Baptist or Pentecostal intrepid enough to violate the ruling to suppress their religious freedom.

No such stout-hearted soul appeared with tract, rosary, or Bible in hand, except for an inspired group of young Arab Christians and ex-Muslims. Rick Warren’s disciples and the Joel Osteen militia were conspicuously absent as innocent Christians were set upon with violence and threats.

Serving their Islamic masters, the Dearborn Police defied their oath of office to protect the violent 5th columnists and joined in the unconstitutional intimidation of the Christians. Continue Reading →
