The outgoing Israeli embassador to the United Nations is reported to have quipped to a reporter, (paraphrasing and adding my own commentary…)
‘When Jews kill Muslims it’s a massacre (even after it is discovered that it never took place such as in Jenin)
‘When Christians kill Muslims it is a crusade’ (even after it is discovered that it was a defensive action against an invading and hostile Islam like, well like the crusades)
‘But when Muslims kill Muslims it is the weather channel’ (like we see every day and nearly everywhere Muslims represent enough of the population to act with impunity or with complicity of a Muslim law enforcement. Contemporary Syria or Pakistan is one example that manages to stay off of our TV sets while we focus on the deluded rantings of an extreme narcissist because he fits a relativist narrative, and that, even though he didn’t kill any Muslims, yet is being used as an example of how evil ‘our side’ is.
Have a look at some of these videos recently smuggled out of Syria. Then, have another look at Bill Whittle’s excellent video on ‘The Narrative’. A clip that does more to explain where and why the great eye of TV media shines than does Lord of the Rings for Sauroman.

This is quite an interesting speech. Not typical. Not fire and brimstone but with a certain clarity and decency that is very enjoyable. As much as I make the effort to not post too much about internal US politics, (It can be like a drug. A sort of soap opera with real characters) I think what he says about the media in general, the age we live in and how information has been distorted to an unhealthy agenda, how freedom and liberty in the US is tied with freedom and liberty in Israel and both need saving is quite good. So I posted it.

This is exactly the problem I thought might arise from President Obama’s endorsement of the trendy principle of “Responsibility to Protect”. In yesterday’s blog, “The Rise of Samantha Power and the risks for the American-Israel relationship,” I speculated that the rationale Obama adopted to bomb Libya bore the risks of others adopting the same “principle” to justify punishing, if not bombing, Israel.
I wrote:
It is not hard to envision that this R2P concept, swirling through the United Nations and in international foreign policy circles, can one day be applied against Israel when that nation is forced to respond from attacks coming from the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon. Terrorists hide behind civilians; Israeli actions to defend themselves often happen in densely populated areas where civilian deaths are almost inevitable – despite all the precautions Israel takes to prevent them.
And noted Omri Ceren’s excellent analysis of the history of this amorphous concept of the Responsibility to Protect and how it has already been used to criticize Israel. It seems that adversaries of Israel are eager to apply this concept to attack Israel, metaphorically and diplomatically, if not militarily (yet).

Don’t blame the West
The ‘root causes’ of Islamist terrorism do not lie in poverty or western imperialism, but an age old conflict between reason and revelation
During the last decade of Islamist terrorism, numerous commentators, particularly those on the left, have adopted a materialist approach to explain why some Muslims want to slaughter guests at hotels in Mumbai or detonate bombs at Christmas festivals in Sweden.
Terrorism, they argue, is rooted in poverty, frustration over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and memories of western imperialism. In other words, so the argument goes, the West itself is to blame for terrorism. If only the West would apologize, make reparations, abandon Israel, leave the Middle East and Afghanistan, all would be well. Or at least that’s where the root-cause crowd’s assumptions logically lead.
The problem with this materialist view of terrorism is that it largely misses the spiritual motivations that inform Islamist geo-politics. As political theorist Barry Cooper argues in his book, New Political Religions, or, An Analysis of Modern Terrorism, the Islamists, like the Nazis and Communists, are motivated more by a “disease of the spirit” than materialist aspirations. “When ordinary human beings see themselves as specially chosen by God, or even as gods themselves, they are not necessarily psychopaths, but they most definitely are spiritually disordered.”
Cooper draws on Eric Voegelin, a 20th-century political philosopher who coined the term “pneumopathology” to account for the spiritual diseases of the modern world. Voegelin argued that some people — politicians, intellectuals, journalists, for example — prefer to see the world as a projection of their desires rather than comprehend its reality. Such fabulists effectively live in what Voegelin called a “second-order reality.” If they acquire power they all-too-often pursue extreme measures — genocide, gulags, crashing airplanes into buildings — to transform the world to suit their fantasies of perfection.
In the case of the Islamists, they imagine Islam spreading across the globe and the establishment of a worldwide caliphate based on shariah law. They see themselves empowered by Allah to bring about this new world order by destroying a civilization they regard as spiritually empty. There is another twisted, psychotic evil in the world…
Every-time you think you understand the depth and breadth of human cruelty, you discover your own limited, and perhaps mercifully so, imagination. I happened to catch a celebration of the passing of the torch to Kim’s son in North Korea on TV last night. A nation that is willing to force an entire people to starve to the point where they are actually by average measurably shorter than their south Korean counterparts on average just to maintain the thinnest possible mirage of superiority to the west. It staggers the mind that university students would not dare to walk around in Nazi paraphernalia, but would sport every kind of communist symbol they can find with pride.
Communism did and still does, logarithmically more horror, slavery and cruelty than the Nazis managed. The fact that left leaning, western universities have managed to hide all that and make it fashionable is itself a crime.
In any case, at the end of this clip I posted a tinyurl I made for the following documentary made by American journalists who visited North Korea. Ill post it below the clip-vid I made here. Thanks to TL for sending me the link for the documentary. I wish they would show it to all university 1st year students.
Please try and find the time to watch it. Not only is it very good, it is also important to realize that communism is still, to this very day, breaking and chaining the ankles of a wonderful people while just miles away, freedom allows the very same people to be massively creative, wealthy, and well fed.
Just the Facts, Imam
Canada Free Press… Just the facts, Imam. A Muslim terrorist attack damaged a building, allowing Muslims to pick it up for a fraction of the price, in order to build a mosque on the spot. Some people might say that sort of thing is tacky. A little like coming by to make an offer on the house, after your cousin murdered the entire family who lived there. Sure, you might claim that you’re not responsible, but it just doesn’t look good. Especially once you start paling around with your cousin, and suggesting that maybe he was just misunderstood. And maybe that family brought it on themselves.
But the media still insists that Islam had nothing to do with 9/11. Or if it had anything to do with 9/11, it was those “other Muslims”, not these Muslims. The media isn’t really good at explaining the difference between these Muslims and those Muslims. Often the media insists that those Muslims are actually these Muslims. Sometimes they claim that those Muslims are actually not Muslims at all, but people who are upset about foreclosures and work related stress.
When Malik Hasan opened fire at Fort Hood, the media spent thousands of gallons of ink claiming that he was suffering from some airborne form of PTSD that he picked up from the soldiers he was abusing—all evidence to the contrary. When the Times Square Bomber tried to kill a few thousand New Yorkers, the media claimed that he was upset because his house had been foreclosed on. Bill Whittle does the best expose of the post modernists who polute our TV Hz.
This really is stunningly good. Probably the best thing on the dropping of the two atomic weapons on the Island of Japan I have seen. And the fact that it needed to be made is as bad as the video is good. Also the movie, ‘The Fog of War’, an interview with Robert Strange Macnamera, is also very good on this subject.

Coren is truly one of my favourite TV regulars. An intellectual and with a great deal of integrity even though I do not agree with all his views. I certainly do agree with this:

The early part of this century saw a great deal of relativism from intellectuals not the least of which, was Richard Dawkins. A man who’s books on evolution in my opinion are compulsory reading. His book, ‘The Selfish Gene’ is one of the best explanations for the mechanisms of evolution, if not the best one for lay people, ever written.
Even if you are religious and do not subscribe to science or evolution this is the book to read, so that at least you are arguing against genuine evolutionary theory and not, which is the common thing, arguing against a straw man of ones own creation claiming it to be evolution.
However, Dawkins in his documentary film, ‘The Root of all Evil’ goes to great lengths to attempt to make Islam, Judaism and Christianity etc. to all appear equally dangerous, stupid and counter civilization. So you can imagine how delighted I was to find this:

Christianity is in decline in Europe as a whole, and has collapsed in Britain in particular, leaving even the most committed atheists wondering what is going to fill the spiritual vacuum.

Peter Tatchell, the human rights campaigner and one of the organisers of the Protest the Pope demonstration at Westminster Cathedral last weekend, came to the defence of a Christian street preacher who was fined £1,000 in Glasgow for saying that homosexuality was a sin.
Shawn Holes, a Baptist from America, was charged with “uttering homophobic remarks” in a breach of the peace that prosecutors said was “aggravated by religious prejudice”.
Mr Tatchell said: “The price of freedom of speech is that we sometimes have to put up with opinions that are objectionable and offensive. Just as people should have the right to criticise religion, people of faith should have the right to criticise homosexuality.”
It is a sign of how bad things have become that the faith’s enemies seem now to be defending it.”

You say you want Turkey to be member of EU. I personally think that you just want the rest of Europe to have the same problems with Muslims as you do. But that is my personal guess – here are the hard facts:
99.8 percent of the more than 77 mio. Turks living in Turkey are
Muslims (CIA World Factbook).
Please study the Quran and see what that means: It is a criminal book that forces people to do criminal things (examples here)! From September 11th 2001 (do you remember…?) to July 28th 2010 there have been 15.373 confirmed cases of murder motivated by the Quran and the inhuman example of
the Muslims prophet as described in his life story in the Hadiths
(The Religion of Peace). Do you really think we need to open our European borders to 77 mio. followers of such an ideology?
Turkish immigrants in Denmark have a crime index of 184 (meaning that their frequency of crime is almost double that of the average Danish citizen) (Kulturkløften.dk)
Do you really think we need more of that on our continent?

Cameron reminded me of someone when he was speaking in Turkey
I know I already posted this speech to Vlad. But there was a certain something about his speech that reminded me of another famous speech by another British Prime Minister.
