Myanmar town in state of emergency with 20 dead
Myanmar declared a state of emergency Friday for a riot-hit town where 20 people have been killed in Buddhist-Muslim violence that has sparked fears of spreading unrest.
Swathes of Meiktila, located 130 kilometres (80 miles) north of the capital Naypyidaw, have been reduced to ashes as the authorities struggle to establish control after three days of clashes and arson.
“At least 20 people have been killed. We estimate that it could be higher but it is also difficult for us to gather all the figures,” a police officer who did not want to be named told AFP.

Ethnic violence in Myanmar seems ‘neverending’

Conflict
DW.De
Sectarian violence has engulfed Myanmar’s frontier state of Rakhine in recent days, with clashes between Buddhist and Muslim ethnic groups. Tension between the two groups is not new and there are few solutions in sight.
The cycle of revenge attacks between ethnic groups in the border state of Rakhine is posing a new challenge to Myanmar’s reformist government, with the repercussions now rippling across the border into neighboring Bangladesh.
The latest surge in sectarian unrest began with the rape and murder of a Rakhine Buddhist woman, allegedly by three Muslims, late last month. Within days, the response had turned more brutal, with at least 10 Muslims killed when they were pulled off a bus in the Taungup township.
Last Friday, Muslims belonging to the Rohingya ethnic minority are alleged to have run amok in the town of Maung Taw, burning down hundreds of houses and killing seven people.
By Monday, many Rohingya were taking flight, with groups of men – apparently ethnic Rakhine Buddhists – roaming the streets of the state capital Sittwe carrying sticks and knives.
Announcing a state of emergency in the region on Sunday, President Thein Sein warned of the possible terrible outcome, with security forces drafted into the area.
Thein Sein has warned that the violence might spread
“The situation could deteriorate and could extend beyond Rakhine state if we are killing each other with such sectarianism, endless hatred, the desire for vengeance and anarchy,” Thein Sein said.
Attacks ‘well-planned and organized’
However, the president of the British-based Arakan Rohingya National Organization (ARNO), Nurul Islam, said he believed that the attacks had in part been orchestrated by the security forces themselves.
He claimed Muslim residents had been fired upon for breaking a curfew when they fled homes that Rakhine extremists had set alight.
“All of this is well planned and organized. The leading Rakhine political organization is behind this,” he told Deutsche Welle.
Under Myanmar law, the Rohingya are denied citizenship, with many of the Buddhist majority in the state describing them as illegal immigrants. Many Rohingya travel between Myanmar and Bangladesh and the government says their presence in Myanmar does not date back to 1814 – a requirement that needs to be met under the country’s citizenship laws. Bangladesh claims the Rohingya are from Myanmar.

An Islamist rebel mans a gun near Timbuktu in rebel-held northern Mali
AFP
Mali’s Tuareg rebels clashed overnight with their former Islamist allies, witnesses said Friday, after the two groups fell out over forming a breakaway state in the northern desert region they control.
The clash involving automatic weapons near the remote regional capital Kidal was the first between the rebel National Liberation Movement of Azawad (MNLA) and the Islamist Ansar Dine, reports AFP.
Both groups are made up of Tuareg tribesmen from different various clans and the fighting has raised fears of widening chaos in the vast northern swathe of the country.
The rebel forces seized the region with little resistance from Malian government forces seizing the initiative after officers in the southern capital Bamako seized power in a March 22 coup.
The rival northern groups belong to different Tuareg tribes — Taghat Melet and Idnane for the MNLA and Ifora for Ansar Dine (Defenders of Faith) — and hold separate ideologies and objectives, observers say.
“Divisions are appearing within the armed Tuareg rebel groups,” said Malian journalist Tiegoum Boubeye Maiga.
Fjordman: How Islam Killed Greco-Roman Civilization
Another excellent and critically important essay by Fjordman:
From Gates of Vienna

Fjordman’s latest essay, a review of Emmet Scott’s book, has been published at FrontPage Mag. Some excerpts are below:
A number of books published in recent years have demolished the myth of an allegedly tolerant Islamic culture that preserved the Greco-Roman heritage. Ibn Warraq’s book Why the West Is Best is among the better and more accessible titles in this field. As I concluded in one of my earlier essays, the only part of the ancient Greek heritage that proved to be more compatible with Muslim than with Christian European culture was slavery, and possibly anal sex with young boys in certain parts of the Islamic world.
In early 2012 the historian Emmet Scott published Mohammed and Charlemagne Revisited: The History of a Controversy. If you have any interest in the subject of the Greco-Roman legacy and Islam as they relate to medieval Europe, I strongly recommend that you buy this book. For those who are interested, Scott has published some excerpts from this work online at the New English Review.
Many books claim to be groundbreaking, but rather few of them actually are. Emmet Scott’s Mohammed and Charlemagne Revisited falls into the latter category.
He shows convincingly that archaeological excavations paint a very clear picture of devastation brought by the Arab conquests throughout the entire Mediterranean region, from Syria to Spain, in the seventh century AD.

“No one is stating the obvious. France has been occupied all over again.”
There is a very, very powerful essay over at Darren Greenfield’s blog comparing how and why Jewish children were hunted down and killed in France in the past, and how and why they are being so now.
from Sultan Knish
The New Nazis
There was a time when Jewish children were hunted down and killed in France. Their killers believed themselves to be members of a superior group that was destined to rule the world and enslave or exterminate members of inferior groups. The cowardice and appeasement of the French authorities allowed them to operate freely, to kill Jews and launch attacks on other countries.
What was then is now again. The occupying army doesn’t wear uniforms, it wears keffiyahs. It doesn’t speak German, it speaks Arabic. It doesn’t believe that it is superior for reasons of race as much as for reasons of religion. It does not view all others as Untermenschen, but as infidels. It looks forward not to a thousand year Reich, but to a thousand year Caliphate.
Mohammed Merah did not chase down a French-Jewish seven year old girl, put a gun to her head and pull the trigger because he came from an economically depressed area or any of the other media spin. He was only doing what Muslims had been doing to non-Muslims for over a thousand years. He didn’t do what he did because he was “radicalized”, he did it because he became a fully committed Muslim.
It won’t end with taking down one man and it won’t end with Jewish children. When your ideology believes that it is in a zero-sum struggle with the rest of the world and that membership means that you are a superior breed of human being because you worship the Fuhrer or Allah, then it won’t stop. It won’t ever stop. Not until the figurehead is toppled, the creed is humiliated and the supermen are shown to be cowards, neurotics, pedophiles, insecure men dressing up their weaknesses in power fantasies.
Between all the non-stop coverage, the expressions of grief, the political pandering, no one is stating the obvious. France has been occupied all over again. Once again the occupation has been carried out with the consent of the authorities who have decided that cowardice is the only way. Vichy France has become Vichy Europe, Vichy America, Vichy Australia, where the blatant appeasement is disguised as honor, treason is portrayed as responsible leadership and collaboration in the mass murder of your own people is never acknowledged as such…
…That simple undeniable fact is denied by government, in every university and in every center of culture. And every one of those deniers has blood on his hands.

Sarkozy (and media): “The Muslim faith has nothing to do with the insane acts of this man”

This graphic by Bosch Fawstin beautifully sums up the French President's cowardice. See more of Bosch's work at fawstin.blogspot.com
From the time the perpetrator of the Toulouse massacre turned out to be a jihadist, there’s been a concerted effort by the Lamestream media to shove the entire incident under the carpet – noticed it?
Whereas before, when they happily concluded a “right-winger” must be responsible, every effort was made to tar Marine Le Pen with responsibility so that the media’s Left wing chums in French politics could benefit from these deaths; now it’s an irrelevant aberation by a diseffected and alienated “French citizen” – and of course, “nothing to do with Islam.”
Where are the press flow charts, the impressive graphics, the fine-tooth-comb examinations of the killer’s “manifesto”, the weeks of lengthy essays by “extremism specialists” pointing to malevolent “worldwide networks” that followed the Breivik slaughter?
There’s been none of it! Just a silent attempt to shoosh everything away and return the populace back to more important matters like reality television and celebrity bra sizes. We’ve been doing our best over here at Vlad Tepes to counter this, and the good folk over at JihadWatch have been putting up a valiant fight too.
Here for example, is an absolute tour de force from Dr Spencer:
from JihadWatch
Imam Sarkozy on Toulouse jihadist: “The Muslim faith has nothing to do with the insane acts of this man”
Muhammad Merah’s murders had everything to do with Islam: he claimed affiliation with al-Qaeda and may have trained with the Taliban, both of which are explicitly and ostentatiously Muslim groups that justify all their actions by reference to the Qur’an and Sunnah. He claimed to be a mujahid, which is a warrior of jihad, which is an Islamic theological and legal concept.
He killed Muslim soldiers who fought in the infidel military — something that only someone who considered one’s loyalty to the umma to trump all other loyalties would have done. So grounded is Merah’s massacre in Islam that it is virtually inconceivable that he would have carried it out had he not been a Muslim.
And so Sarkozy is, like every other leader in the West, whistling in the dark, trying to pretend that there is no problem when there is a huge problem, and basing the future of his nation on the fantasy that the overwhelming majority of Muslims in France do not believe the same things Muhammad Merah believed…

Muslims Vs. Roma
Islam Vs. Europe:

Open street warfare has broken out between North African Muslims and Roma in Lyon. The quarrel startled with the Muslims claiming they had been burgled by the Roma. Carfuls of Muslims turned up and three stones at a Roma squat.
The articulators of knowledge in the West have completely undermined reality
Raymond Ibrahim’s testimony to the US House of Representatives Human Rights Committee; on Shariah, Dhimmitude & the Copts; is a moving and eloquent absolute must watch.
In fifteen short minutes Mr Ibrahim amply demonstrates how the contemporary persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt is a direct mirror of identical suffering meted out to his people for the fourteen previous centuries, using historical sources to back up his case.
This is no “accidental aberration” he conclusively proves, by pointing to the Quranic injunctions – the literal commands of god – that instruct Muslims to behave in the ways that lead to the inevitable suffering of any non-Muslim who falls under the reach of Islam’s power.
He also delves persuasively and depressingly into the historical events, and current dangerously misguided modes of thought (from history classes to the media), which have conspired to erect the “intellectual hurdles” that make unintelligible to a contemporary audience…
“…something that is fourteen hundred years old and is so obvious to anyone who has studied it or looked at it.
BBC clip: fairly good one on the events of Oct 9 Cairo 2011
My prediction? The government of Egypt will have little choice as they see it, but to blame the unrest on Israel and perhaps the US as well. They are already hinting at “foreign influence” in these events which I believe is likely true. Iran almost certainly is behind these attacks on the Copts etc. The question is, will Egypt have the raw guts to admit that, or take a populist position and blame Israel and perhaps American Jews or something very much like that.

Looks a lot like Muslims attacked a peaceful Coptic demonstration over how they are being slaughtered and burned down everywhere

Al-Jazeera’s Rawya Rageh, reporting from Cairo, said “utter chaos” prevailed in the centre of the capital.
Rageh said: “It was supposed to be a peaceful protest, demanding that Coptic rights should be fulfilled. But it soon escalated into violence, with people on balconies pelting the demonstrators with stones, clearly disagreeing with the cause of the Coptic demonstrators.”
The Christian protesters said their demonstration began as a peaceful attempt to sit in at the television building. But then, they said they came under attack by thugs in plainclothes who rained stones down on them and fired pellets.
“The protest was peaceful. We wanted to hold a sit-in, as usual,” Essam Khalili, a protester wearing a white shirt with a cross drawn on it, said.
“Thugs attacked us and a military vehicle jumped over a sidewalk and ran over at least 10 people. I saw them.”
Wael Roufail, another protester, corroborated the account.
“I saw the vehicle running over the protesters. Then they opened fired at us,” he said.
