MailOnline… London Mayor Boris Johnson today encouraged people to undergo a day of fasting to help understand their ‘Muslim neighbour’.

He said Muslims in the capital were ‘challenging traditional stereotypes’ to show they wanted to be part of the mainstream during a visit to the East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre.

Mr Johnson’s visit coincided with the holy period of Ramadan in which participating Muslims fast from dawn until sunset.

He said: ‘Whether it’s in theatre, comedy, sports, music or politics, Muslims are challenging the traditional stereotypes and showing that they are, and want to be, a part of the mainstream community.

‘That’s why I urge people, particularly during Ramadan, to find out more about Islam, increase your understanding and learning, even fast for a day with your Muslim neighbour and break your fast at the local mosque.

‘I would be very surprised if you didn’t find that you share more in common than you thought.’

He added: ‘Muslims are at the heart of every aspect of society. Their contribution is something that all Londoners benefit from.

‘Muslim police officers, doctors, scientists and teachers are an essential part of the fabric of London.

‘Islamic finance is contributing to the economy by changing the way Londoners invest, save, borrow and spend.

‘There are valuable lessons that people of all backgrounds can learn from Islam such as the importance of community spirit, family ties, compassion and helping those less fortunate, all of which lie at the heart of the teachings of Ramadan.’

 

Muslim quizzed on ‘kidnap’ claim

BBC NEWS … A Muslim community leader from Essex has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

_46280546_ramjanallycopy_newNoor Ramjanally, 36, from Loughton, claimed he had been abducted and bundled into a car on 24 August.

Mr Ramjanally said the alleged kidnappers warned him to stop running a weekly prayer meeting in the area.

A police spokeswoman said they had investigated an allegation of abduction and a 36-year-old man was being held at Harlow police station.

Last week Mr Ramjanally told the BBC kidnappers “knocked at my door and when I answered, they grabbed me by the wrists and marched me to their car”.

He added: “I was thrown into the boot and then they drove me to nearby Epping Forest and threatened me.

“I was very scared, they had a knife placed right against my back.”

He said he believed a leaflet campaign by the British National Party (BNP) in the area had prompted the alleged attack.

But Councillor Pat Richardson, leader of the BNP group on Epping Forest District Council, denied any knowledge of the incident and added: “It’s terrible, I don’t agree with these illegal actions.”

This is not the first time Ramjanally has made claims of racist attacks against him. He has also reported recieving hate mail and having his home firebombed. I wonder if his Sharia compliant insurance will be investigating?

Muslim area BrusselsIt is hot in Brussels. Ramadan has begun. The faithful in the predominantly Muslim borough of Molenbeek are not allowed to eat or drink from sunrise until sunset. Non-Muslim policemen, patrolling the streets of Molenbeek in their sweltering cars, are not allowed to eat or drink either. As every year during Ramadan, that they have been told by their superior, Philippe Moureaux, the Socialist mayor of Molenbeek, they have to respect Muslim sensitivities and not to “provoke” Muslims by violating Islamic Ramadan restrictions in public. In effect, Islamic or Sharia law is already applied – for everyone – in the Muslim areas of Brussels.

 Barely two miles from Molenbeek lies Brussels’ European district. One of its huge glass and concrete buildings is the European Parliament where the elected representatives from the 27 members states of the European Union (EU) convene. The 736 MEPs (Members of the European Parliament) have just returned from their summer break. They are mostly unaware of life in Molenbeek. Most of them never go to that part of the city. It is probably a sensible decision, because Molenbeek is known to be unsafe for non-Muslims. Nevertheless, it is a shame that Europe’s politicians are unaware of day-to-day life just around the corner. It means that most of the 736 MEPs, who make up the second largest democratically elected assembly in the world (after India), do not know what life really is like in an ever growing section of Europe’s urban areas. A walking tour of Molenbeek should be compulsory for every MEP.

 Some friends in Brussels organize one-hour trips through Molenbeek. They go in an inconspicuous car, driven by a local who knows the escape routes, and with a bodyguard. Otherwise the risk would be too great. These trips are called “safaris.” Similar “Eurabia Safaris” are organized in other European cities. One of the highlights – though absolutely not the most dangerous one – of the safari in Rosengaard, the Muslim section of the Swedish city of Malmö, is a short stop, to give the visitor the opportunity to take a quick snapshot, in front of Malmö’s “Jihadskörkortsteori” (Jihad Driving School).

 The Sharia areas of Europe are expanding rapidly across Western Europe. While currently still restricted to what the French officially call the ZUS (zones urbaines sensibles – sensitive urban areas) these areas are growing fast. Even today, eight million of the sixty million inhabitants of France already live in one of the country’s 751 ZUS.

 The month of Ramadan is traditionally the most dangerous time of the year in Europe’s sensitive areas. After sunset, the Ramadan ban on eating, drinking and engaging in sexual activities expires until the following sunrise. Ramadan is a period of nightly feasts for Muslims. Young Muslims are extremely touchy. These feasts easily spill over into nightly spasms of mayhem, vandalism, and violence. Europe’s Ramadan riots often go on for days or weeks, during which hundreds of cars, shops and public buildings are set on fire.

 In Muslim countries, such as Indonesia, the police step up patrols during Ramadan in order to crack down on illegal nightly activities. In Europe, however, the police have been given orders to adopt an extra-low profile not to “provoke” Muslim populations. In countries such as Britain, police officers have had to attend “Ramadan awareness” courses. They have even been ordered, “for reasons of religious sensitivity,” to avoid the execution of arrest warrants for Muslims during the month of Ramadan. During Ramadan, Europe is a tinder box. Bus attacked in Savile Town, U.K.

The Press… A MAN was left bleeding after a gang of Asian youths attacked a bus in Savile Town.

Yobs targeted the Thornhill-bound Arriva bus as it pulled away from a stop in Savile Road late on Saturday night.

It was the second successive night the Thornhill bus had been attacked.

The passenger who was injured, a man aged 56, told how stones smashed windows on both sides of the bus. The attack happened at 11pm opposite the BP garage.

The man, who is white and a local businessman, rushed off the bus to chase the youths, bleeding from a cut to his face.

“They told me not to come shouting in their area,” he said. “I told them it was my area as well. I was born and bred in Dewsbury.

“There were other Asians around and they said what happened was wrong and it would be sorted.

“I don’t want to scare people but they have to know what is going on.”

The man said there were about a dozen people on the bus including an elderly woman and a father with children.

“It was like a war zone,” said the injured man who was with his wife.

“When the stones hit the windows it was like explosions going off or machine gun fire. Everybody ducked but I wanted to see what was going on.”

Police attended and an ambulance was called before the bus was taken away.

The man said he had been told a bus had been attacked the previous night and police were supposed to have been shadowing the Saturday service. However the bus was running early.

Two weeks ago The Press reported how three white boys, one aged 12 and two aged 14, were set upon by a gang of Asian youths nearby.

The teenagers were confronted and asked why they were walking through Savile Town. One boy was struck on the side of the head, causing his ear to bleed.

A spokesman for Dewsbury police confirmed that two passengers were hurt and a bus damaged.

Sgt Sarah Baker, of the Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said patrols would be stepped up in the area.

She added: “We take these sorts of incidents very seriously and we will thoroughly investigate and bring the people responsible to court.”

I could pick his platitudes to Islam apart but what would be the point as they are glaringly obvious to most non-Muslims and I’m sure the cause of uncontrolled laughter by many Muslims. Here is one of Obamas gems; ” Indeed, the contribution of Muslims to the United States are too long to catalog because Muslims are so interwoven into the fabric of our communities and our country.”

What I will tell you though is who Mr. Obama invited into the White House.

According to the guest list printed in the L.A. Times, Dr. Ingrid Mattson, president, Islamic Society of North America broke bread with the ever appeasing president. ISNA was named as an unindicted co conspirator in the Holy Land Foundations terrorist fund raising campaign for Hamas. ISNA is also linked with the Muslim Brotherhood which is hell bent on the destruction of the west [especially America] from within its own governments and institutions. Could it be the White House staff are so inept at their jobs that Dr. Mattsons dubious past and present escaped their attention. Perhaps the secret service had the week off and was not able to double check who would stroll through the front door of one of Americas most secure locations.

I suppose your guess is as good as mine.

Canadians still split on Omar Khadr, poll shows

Khadr Harper LawsuitThe Toronto Star… OTTAWA–Canadians remain deeply divided on what should happen to Omar Khadr, the Canadian jailed at Guantanamo Bay, but a growing number believe he will be treated fairly if a U.S. military trial goes ahead, a poll shows.

Conducted by Angus Reid Strategies for the Toronto Star, the survey shows 42 per cent of Canadians believe Khadr should be brought back to face “due process under Canadian law.” That’s up from 37 per cent of Canadians more than a year ago.

Almost an equal amount, 40 per cent, think Khadr should be left to face trial by military commission at Guantanamo Bay. About 19 per cent are unsure what the best option is.

Khadr, now 22, was 15 when he was arrested in the 2002 death of a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan.

When asked about the prospects for a fair trial if Khadr is left to face justice in Guantanamo, 40 per cent agreed he would be treated fairly, up from 32 per cent a year ago. The number of those who disagreed – 45 per cent – also grew, up from 41 per cent.

A similar split exists over how the Conservative government is handling the case. Ottawa announced last week it will challenge Khadr repatriation orders to the Supreme Court of Canada, and 41 per cent agree with that move, while 40 per cent disagree.

A slim majority – 52 per cent – do not have sympathy for Khadr’s plight. That’s up seven points from last January. Just 38 per cent continue to sympathize with Khadr. About 11 per cent were unsure.

The online survey of a randomized sample of 1,006 Canadians was conducted late last week.

Terror group member Shane Kent jailed for five years

Every time one of these converts to Islam is arrested for planning to attack and kill people I am reminded of the stories one hears of gang initiations that call for the new recruit to commit a random act of violence so that the rest of the thugs will accept him.

  news.com.au… A HOME-GROWN terrorist who was committed to violent jihad was jailed this afternoon.

Justice Bernard Bongiorno sentenced Shane Kent to five years on two counts, with a minimum of three years, nine months, the Herald Sun reports.

He has already spent 1115 days in custody.

Justice Bongiorno told Kent, 32, in sentencing: “I am not prepared to accept on the material proferred, that he (Kent) has abandoned the cause of violent jihad.

“There is no admissable evidence of his having done so, or of his being genuinely contrite for what he did.”

Kent, of Campbellfield, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years to being a member of a terrorist organisation, and two-and-a-half years on a second charge of recklessly making a document connected with preparing a terrorist act, but the two will be served partially concurrently.Kent was a drug abusing depressive who was persuaded to seek spiritual guidance from an extremist cleric by his Muslim wife and mother-in-law.

His plea hearing in August was told he helped create an Islamic propaganda jihadist video featuring Osama bin Laden, tributes to “martyrs” and a graphic image of a dead young extremist.

Kent pleaded guilty in July to one count of being a member of a terrorist organisation, a Melbourne terror cell, between July 2004 and November 2005.

He also admitted a reduced count of recklessly making a document – the jihadist video – connected with preparing a terrorist act.

He changed his plea when he was about to go to trial on charges he belonged to a Melbourne terror cell.

The jihadist video was posted on a At-Tibyan website, which was supportive of al-Qa’ida.

Prosecutor Lesley Taylor told the plea hearing Kent was committed to the terror organisation and showed his commitment to violent jihad.

She told the court Kent had been found with a vast amount of jihadist material after he returned from Dubai in 2003, including “macabre” videos of beheadings, footage of car-bombs and al-Qa’ida training manuals.

Ms Taylor said Kent was disappointed he did not get credit for helping to create the jihadist video.

Justice Bongiorno was shown a photograph of the fair-skinned father of three and former house painter in mujahidin clothes and carrying a fake AK47 assault rifle in his Melbourne back yard.

Kent spent three years on remand but was on bail prior to his plea hearing.

Niqabs and Burqas – The Veiled Threat Continues

To remind, both garments are designed for the modesty of Muslim females; the niqab covers all but the eyes and the burqa covers the entire face. In “Ban the Burqa – and the Niqab Too,” two years ago, I documented how these two items pose criminal and terrorist dangers.
Is that still the case?
Criminality: Jordan offers a glimpse into the potential for niqabs and burqas as illegal accessories: one news report indicates that 50 people committed 170 crimes using Islamic garments during the past two years, or roughly one incident every four days, a crime wave that has prompted some Jordanians to call for restricting or even banning these Islamic head coverings.
No other country reports nearly so many head-garment-related crimes, but Philadelphia, Pennsylvania boasts multiple robberies (3 banks and 1 real estate leasing office) in a sixteen-month period in 2007-08, including the murder of a police officer.

The United Kingdom has the West’s second-worst record. Jewelry stores – some owned by Muslims – have been targeted in the West Midlands, Glasgow, and Oxfordshire. Two travel agencies were attacked in the adjoining towns of Dunstable and Luton while an armored truck driver was assaulted in Birmingham. Robbery is not the only motive; teenagers in London, used niqab-style face coverings when stabbing a younger boy.
Other criminal incidents in the West include east European pickpockets wearing Islamic headgear in Rotterdam and a burgundy burqa’ed armed robbery at the People’s Bank in Hiddenite, North Carolina (population: 6,000). The man who abducted Elizabeth Smart, 14, of Salt Lake City, forced her to wear a niqab-like garment that hid her in plain sight for nine months.
In response, banks, credit unions, jewelry stores, and schools are limiting access to persons of cover. For example, the Carolina Federal Credit Union of Cherryville, North Carolina, not far from Hiddenite, steers anyone wearing hats, sunglasses, or hoods to an isolated teller where special security measures obtain.
Terrorism: Taliban reliance on burqa’ed terrorism, often of the suicide variety, makes Afghanistan the current world epicenter of this tactic. On two occasions, authorities foiled would-be suicide bombers before they could act – one a Russian male convert to Islam with 500 kilograms of explosives in an automobile in Paktia Province, the other an Afghan woman hiding a bomb in Jalalabad.  RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Much of the world knows Petra, the ancient ruin in modern-day Jordan that is celebrated in poetry as “the rose-red city, ‘half as old as time,'” and which provided the climactic backdrop for “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”

But far fewer know Madain Saleh, a similarly spectacular treasure built by the same civilization, the Nabateans.

That’s because it’s in Saudi Arabia, where conservatives are deeply hostile to pagan, Jewish and Christian sites that predate the founding of Islam in the 7th century.

But now, in a quiet but notable change of course, the kingdom has opened up an archaeology boom by allowing Saudi and foreign archaeologists to explore cities and trade routes long lost in the desert.

The sensitivities run deep. Archaeologists are cautioned not to talk about pre-Islamic finds outside scholarly literature. Few ancient treasures are on display, and no Christian or Jewish relics. A 4th or 5th century church in eastern Saudi Arabia has been fenced off ever since its accidental discovery 20 years ago and its exact whereabouts kept secret.

In the eyes of conservatives, the land where Islam was founded and the Prophet Muhammad was born must remain purely Muslim. Saudi Arabia bans public displays of crosses and churches, and whenever non-Islamic artifacts are excavated, the news must be kept low-key lest hard-liners destroy the finds.

“They should be left in the ground,” said Sheikh Mohammed al-Nujaimi, a well-known cleric, reflecting the views of many religious leaders. “Any ruins belonging to non-Muslims should not be touched. Leave them in place, the way they have been for thousands of years.”

In an interview, he said Christians and Jews might claim discoveries of relics, and that Muslims would be angered if ancient symbols of other religions went on show. “How can crosses be displayed when Islam doesn’t recognize that Christ was crucified?” said al-Nujaimi. “If we display them, it’s as if we recognize the crucifixion.” Continue Reading →

Muslims had nothing to do with Beslan massacre

_46302822_gym2Five years ago Muslim extremists invaded a school in Beslan, Russia. These Muslim terrorists held over a thousand people, most of them children, hostage. For three days these Muslim terrorists killed and tortured countless victims. The ways in which they were treated I will abbreviate . Children were shot for crying. Teachers and parents were shot for trying to calm the hostages. Young girls were gang raped. Young girls were raped with gun barrels and other objects. Many young girls did not survive these rapes. Children were forced to drink their own urine before being executed. The list of inhuman acts committed by these Muslim animals is as nothing I have ever heard before.

Now to the reason I have titled this “Muslims had nothing to do with Beslan massacre”.

Today I wanted to post something in the memory of the poor souls murdered in Beslan, so I started looking for a nice story already written and spell checked that I might copy and paste here. What I found disturbed me. Both BBC and SKY NEWS have stories about the five years after the event in Beslan. Neither story mentions Muslims or Islam. The British news is perverting history by not mentioning the identities of the attackers. It’s hard to believe that with Beslan on my mind today that I could find something in the news that would cause me disgust.

British police attacked by Muslim mob

Strange that the Muslim community asks for and gets protection from protesters that committed no violence the last time they marched. Not so strange is the fact that the Muslims have enough influence to force Britons to change the laws concerning having demonstrations. Also not so surprising that as there were no anti Islam protesters to attack the Muslim mob attacks the dhimmi police force sent to protect the Muslim community.

BBCNEWS… Police have condemned a mob of 200 Asian youths who attacked officers and threw fireworks in Luton.

Riot police were called to Bury Park after youths attacked local police on Sunday. Two people were arrested.

Local officers were there at the request of the Asian community to protect the group from a right wing march, but no protesters turned up.

Ch Supt Andy Frost said he was “extremely disappointed” his officers had been attacked.

He said: “Although this incident was contained within Bury Park it has again put Luton under the spotlight for the wrong reasons.

“The town has enjoyed excellent community relations for a number of years but it seems a small minority has let Luton down.”

A police spokeswoman said one person arrested during the disorder had been released and the second was waiting to be questioned.

Angry scenes

Police said protesters had been deterred from the planned march by a banning order approved by Home Secretary Alan Johnson last week.

Luton Borough Council and Bedfordshire Police were granted a three-month banning order on public processions by four named organisations or associated groups.

Police previously said residents and businesses feared a repeat of the violence and disorder which erupted when the groups previously marched in the town and elsewhere.

Protest plans by March for England, UK Casuals United, United People of Luton and English Defence League had increased tensions in Luton, they added.

Angry scenes broke out in March when a small number of Muslims held an anti-war protest during a homecoming parade of British troops.

Obama’s Plan to Desecrate 9/11

The Obama White House is behind a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert Sept. 11 into a day of leftist celebration and statist idolatry.

This effort to reshape the American psyche has nothing to do with healing the nation and everything to do with easing the nation along in the ongoing radical transformation of America that President Obama promised during last year’s election campaign. The president signed into law a measure in April that designated Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service, but it’s not likely many lawmakers thought this meant that day was going to be turned into a celebration of ethanol, carbon emission controls, and radical community organizing.

The administration’s plans were outlined in an Aug. 11 White House-sponsored teleconference call run by Obama ally Lennox Yearwood, president of the Hip Hop Caucus, and Liv Havstad, the group’s senior vice president of strategic partnerships and programs.

Yearwood, who uses the honorific “Reverend” before his name, has been in the news in recent years, usually for getting arrested. After Democrats took back Congress, the rowdy activist was handcuffed outside a congressional hearing in September 2007 when Gen. David Petraeus was to testify. Yearwood told the “Democracy Now” radio program that he wanted to attend the hearing to hear Petraeus give his report. “I knew that when officers lie, soldiers die,” he said.

On the Aug. 11 call, Yearwood and other leaders kept saying repeatedly that they wanted 9/11 to be used for something “positive,” “forward-leaning,” and “productive,” said a source with knowledge of the teleconference.

The plan is to turn a “day of fear” that helps Republicans into a day of activism called the National Day of Service that helps the left. In other words, nihilistic liberals are planning to drain 9/11 of all meaning.

“They think it needs to be taken back from the right,” said the source. “They’re taking that day and they’re breaking it because it gives Republicans an advantage. To them, that day is a fearful day.”

A coalition including the unsavory left-wing pressure group Color of Change and about 60 far-left, environmentalist, labor, and corporate shakedown groups participated in the call. Groups on the call included: ACORN, AFL-CIO, Apollo Alliance, Community Action Partnership, Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, 80 Million Strong for Young American Jobs, Friends of the Earth, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, Mobilize.org, National Black Police Association, National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, National Council of Negro Women, National Wildlife Federation, RainbowPUSH Coalition, Urban League, and Young Democrats of America.

Color of Change is the extremist racial grievance group that isn’t happy that TV’s Glenn Beck did several news packages on Van Jones, the self-described “communist” and “rowdy black nationalist” who became the president’s green jobs czar after jumping on the environmentalist bandwagon. The White House may be behind a push to destroy Beck by convincing advertisers to stop buying time on his show. Jones was also on the board of the Apollo Alliance, a hard-left environmentalist group that is now running large chunks of the Obama administration. The group has acknowledged that it dictated parts of the February stimulus bill to Congress.

With the help of the Obama administration, the coalition is launching a public relations campaign under the radar of the mainstream media — which remains almost uniformly terrified of criticizing the nation’s first black president — to try to change 9/11 from a day of reflection and remembrance to a day of activism, food banks, and community gardens.

“The organizing term is to ‘go dark.’ You don’t tell the press, don’t tell people you think will tell the press,” said the source.

Of course, the annual commemoration of the 2001 terrorist attacks belongs to the entire nation, but President Obama and the activist left don’t see it that way. They view the nationwide remembrance of the murder of 3,000 Americans by Islamic totalitarians as an obstacle to winning over the hearts and minds of the American people.

“When you criticize them, they are prepared to say, ‘Did you want 9/11 to be another day of selling mattresses, like Presidents Day?” the source said. “They are truly trying to change the American mindset.”

They view Sept. 11 as a “Republican” day because it focuses the public on supposedly “Republican” issues like patriotism, national security, and terrorism. According to liberals, 9/11 was long ago hijacked by Republicans and their enablers and unfairly used to bludgeon helpless Democrats at election time.

MSNBC’s foremost left-wing bloviator, Keith Olbermann, summed up this ugly perspective the week after the Republican Party convention last year:

But 9/11 has become a brand name. A Republican campaign slogan. Propaganda of the lowest form. 9/11 has become 9/11 with a trademark logo. “9/11 TM” has sustained a president who long ago should have been dismissed, or impeached. It has kept him and his gang of financial and constitutional crooks in office without — literally — any visible means of support. “9/11 TM” has made possible the greatest sleight-of-hand in our nation’s history.

On Aug. 4, the White House offered a glimpse into its plans to desecrate 9/11 for political advantage. Jones appeared in a largely ignored 33-minute video posted on the official blog of the White House to discuss the administration’s plan to flush 9/11 down the memory hole just as it has tried to do by rechristening the Global War on Terror the “Overseas Contingency Operations.”

Of this National Day of Service, Jones says little except that it will be a great opportunity “for people to connect, to find other people in your peer group who are also passionate about repowering America but also greening up America and cleaning up America.”

On the same day, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson, and Department of Energy Under Secretary Kristina Johnson and activists held a low-key press conference. At it, Yearwood said the National Day of Service will be “the first milestone” of a larger effort called Green the Block that is attempting to convince Americans that the utopian fantasy of a so-called green economy is possible without turning the U.S. into a Third World country.

“From policy creation to community implementation, the Green the Block campaign wants to see access and opportunity created for all Americans, to build prosperity and a healthier planet for future generations,” Yearwood said.

At no time does anyone explain why this National Day of Service has to be held — of all the 365 days in a year — on Sept. 11.

‘Al-Qaeda link’ to Jakarta hotel bombings

NEWS.COM… INDONESIAN police are pursuing an al-Qaeda connection to the twin suicide attacks on Jakarta hotels, after confirming that a suspect in custody had been a follower of Osama bin Laden.

National police chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri said the suspect, Indonesian publisher and Islamist blogger Mohammed Jibril Abdurahman – known on the internet as the “Prince of Jihad” — was once a member of al-Qaeda.

Mohammed Jibril was arrested outside Jakarta late on Tuesday on suspicion of channeling money from abroad to finance the July 17 attacks on the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels, which killed nine people including three Australians and the two bombers.

The blasts marked the bloody end of a four-year hiatus in such attacks in the world’s most populous Muslim country, and have been blamed on a terror network led by Malaysian extremist Noordin Mohammed Top.

Asked by reporters whether Mohammed Jibril had been a member of al-Qaeda, Danuri said “yes.”
“Let the process proceed, there will be more developments,” he said, without elaborating.

Noordin, 41, is the most wanted extremist in Indonesia and calls his group “al-Qaeda in the Malay Archipelago.”He allegedly received al-Qaeda backing for an attack on the Marriott in 2003 which killed 12 people, and is also accused of masterminding attacks on the Australian embassy in 2004 and tourist restaurants in Bali in 2005.

Burkha Wearing Bandits Hunted By Police

burka banditsSKYNEWS… Police are hunting burkha wearing bandits who have struck three times in the last two months.

Two police forces are investigating three robberies which have been carried out recently by men dressed in the Islamic garment.

Bedfordshire Police is investigating robberies in two separate travel agents.

A force spokesman said that in the first, a man dressed in a black burkha went into First Choice Travel in The Broadway, Dunstable, on Tuesday July 7, at around 10.15am.

He threatened two female members of staff with a knife, then took a “substantial amount of cash” and escaped through a back door, police said.

More than a month later, on Sunday August 16, a man dressed in a black burkha threatened two female members of staff at Thomson travel agent in George Street, Luton at about 10.55am.

He made off with a large amount of cash, and escaped through the front door before heading off on foot.

In a third incident on Monday in neighbouring Oxfordshire, armed robbers – one wearing a burkha – stole watches worth £150,000.

Three men went into Michael Jones Jewellers in Banbury High Street at about 2.20pm.

They threatened four members of staff, a man and three women, with what is described as a handgun and an axe.

The men then left the shop and got into a waiting black Audi Estate, which then drove off towards of Broad Street.

Police said the men were of Asian appearance and two were wearing dark clothing with their faces covered. The third was dressed in a burkha.

Detectives from both forces have called for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Steve Guerin, from Bedfordshire Police, said: “Officers are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents are connected but the pattern the offenders have followed is strikingly similar.”
