Spain Goes on Mosque-Building Spree, Churches Forced to Close

The city of Barcelona, widely known as a European Mecca of anti-clerical postmodernism, has agreed to build an official mega-mosque with a capacity for thousands of Muslim worshipers. The new structure would rival the massive Islamic Cultural Center in Madrid, currently the biggest mosque in Spain. An official in the office of the Mayor of Barcelona says the objective is to increase the visibility of Muslims in Spain, as well as to promote the “common values between Islam and Europe.”
The Barcelona mosque project is just one of dozens of new mosques that are in various stages of construction across Spain. Overall, there are now thirteen mega-mosques in Spain, and more than 1000 smaller mosques and prayer centers scattered across the country, the majority of which are located in Catalonia in northeastern Spain.
The Muslim building spree reflects the rising influence of Islam in Spain, where the Muslim population has jumped to an estimated 1.5 million in 2010, up from just 100,000 in 1990, thanks to massive immigration. The construction of new mosques comes at a time when municipalities linked to the Socialist Party have closed dozens of Christian churches across Spain by way of new zoning laws that several courts have now ruled discriminatory and unconstitutional. Nigeria: Police Arrest Suspected Boko Haram Members

Ninety-two suspected members of the radical Islamist sect Boko Haram have been arrested in Nigeria, Reuters reported Dec. 31. Nigerian police said the group was responsible for at least 16 deaths in three recent attacks in Maidururi, the capital of Nigeria’s Borno state. The group’s financiers were among those arrested, a police spokesman said. The detainees have been taken to Abuja for interrogation and prosecution.

Ottawa police are investigating a series of bank robberies by a man or men wearing a hijab.
The latest incident, on Thursday afternoon, occurred when a man in the headscarf worn by some Muslim women robbed a bank at Pinecrest Mall in the city’s west end.
Const. Katherine Larouche said a man, wearing a dark blue hijab covering his mouth and nose, and a long dark blue robe, handed a Scotiabank teller a note around noon, demanding money.
The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was seen and there were no injuries.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, about five-foot-10, with a slim build, dark eyes and bushy eyebrows. He spoke English with a slight accent. Continue Reading →

Hijab-wearing man robs west-side Ottawa bank
OTTAWA — A man used a Muslim woman’s religious garment as a disguise to rob a bank at the Pinecrest Mall on Thursday, police said.
Sgt. Mark Myers said the man, who wore a blue robe and a head scarf concealing his mouth and nose, passed a note demanding money to a bank teller at a Scotiabank branch around noon.
The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect then fled the bank, heading eastbound on foot, he said.
Myers said that since the summer, there have been a handful of other robberies in Ottawa involving male suspects using Muslim women’s religious garments as disguises. He was not immediately able to answer how many such robberies there have been or whether police suspect they have been committed by the same person.
The sergeant said police are confident the suspect is a man because at one point during the robbery, he spoke in a masculine voice.
The three or four customers in the bank at the time were uninjured. The bank remained closed for the rest of the day.
“We are thankful that our employees and our customers who were in the branch at the time are safe,” said Ann Derabbie, a Bank of Nova Scotia spokeswoman in Toronto. “We will be offering counselling support (to employees) should any of them need it.”
Police described the suspect as male with dark skin, dark eyes and bushy eyebrows, standing about five-foot-10 with a slim build. He was wearing what police described as a dark blue hijab with designs around the head and neck and a long, dark-blue robe. The suspect spoke English with a slight accent.

Barack Obama adviser says Sharia Law is misunderstood

President Barack Obama’s adviser on Muslim affairs, Dalia Mogahed, has provoked controversy by appearing on a British television show hosted by a member of an extremist group to talk about Sharia Law.

Miss Mogahed, appointed to the President’s Council on Faith-Based and Neighbourhood Partnerships, said the Western view of Sharia was “oversimplified” and the majority of women around the world associate it with “gender justice”.
The White House adviser made the remarks on a London-based TV discussion programme hosted by Ibtihal Bsis, a member of the extremist Hizb ut Tahrir party.
The group believes in the non-violent destruction of Western democracy and the creation of an Islamic state under Sharia Law across the world.
Miss Mogahed appeared alongside Hizb ut Tahrir’s national women’s officer, Nazreen Nawaz.
During the 45-minute discussion, on the Islam Channel programme Muslimah Dilemma earlier this week, the two members of the group made repeated attacks on secular “man-made law” and the West’s “lethal cocktail of liberty and capitalism”.
They called for Sharia Law to be “the source of legislation” and said that women should not be “permitted to hold a position of leadership in government”.
Miss Mogahed made no challenge to these demands and said that “promiscuity” and the “breakdown of traditional values” were what Muslims admired least about the West.

The Libyan government attempted to force the Tripoli branch of retail chain Marks & Spencer to close using a “repugnant antisemitic” smear campaign and “pseudo-populist rhetoric against ‘the forces of Zionism’”, according to documents released by WikiLeaks.
US embassy cables reveal that in the aftermath of the opening of the store – the first Marks & Spencer branch in Africa – Libyan officials subjected the company to “persistent antisemitic rhetoric” and even warned that a businessman linked with the chain could be killed.
In a US embassy report from Tripoli, dated June 18 2008, two months after the store opened, the writer said: “In Libya, major business deals are both political and personal.”
Despite the fact that, according to the cable, by 2008 Marks & Spencer was no longer on the list of companies the Arab League sought to boycott, the report said: “Libyan officials at the highest levels,” were publicly attacking the retailer.
Notes classified by Chris Stevens of the US embassy in Tripoli showed: “The Libyan government’s public narrative has taken the form of…alleging that the company is a ‘Zionist entity’ with Jewish origins that supports Israel and ‘the killing of Palestinians’.”
The report warned that the row was doing damage to Libya’s ties with the UK and that: “The ensuing test of wills reportedly has the potential to end in violence.” Continue Reading →
Britain leads in Israeli denial efforts

An Israeli academic who spent five years in London studying the “red-green alliance” between the hard left and international Islamist groups has produced a comprehensive survey of the anti-Israel movement in the UK.
In a report for the Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs (JCPA) on the “delegitimisation” movement, published this month, Ehud Rosen has concluded that the boycott campaign against Israel and attempts to arrest Israeli politicians for war crimes are evidence that “Britain has become the main leader of an international effort to deny Israel’s right to exist in its current form”.
Mr Rosen, who now teaches at Bar-Ilan University, found that the alliance has taken advantage of the UK’s political freedoms and legal system to make London its base for its attacks on Israel.
His research into the red-green alliance was carried out while studying for a PhD at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
He also identified how the anti-Israel movement has entered the mainstream by allying with campaigns against the security crackdown following the events of 9/11 and British involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. This has been aided by alliances with leftist groups such as the Stop the War movement, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the Socialist Workers Party and George Galloway’s Respect party. He points out that each new year is labeled “The Year of [Something]”, where “Something” is usually a trendy politically correct issue, such as equal pay for women or the welfare of baby polar bears.

The spread of Muslim tactics and establishing primacy
We know that in France in over 40 cities, Muslims take over whole streets and sometimes multiple streets for ‘prayer’ and usually for several hours, reportedly not allowing people access to their own homes and businesses. In the comments to the videos I have posted at youtube on this, I frequently get a lot of people, rightfully outraged, but also puffing their chests and insisting this could never happen in their home country/city. Here is a few clips from Moscow and Washington DC. But this takes place wherever Muslims wish to establish their primacy in a location. They of course have a language they use for the press using the typical set of logical fallacies which I attempt to address in this short video, but the real reason is military.

A notorious Muslim fanatic has been accused of fiddling the benefits system by working while claiming jobseekers’ allowance.
Abdul Rehman Saleem, known as Abu Yahya, is working on a market stall at the same time as collecting the £60 a week benefit, a friend of his estranged wife claimed.
The 35-year-old was freed from prison last year after being convicted of inciting racial hatred during protests in London against cartoon depictions of the prophet Mohammed.

Yahya is thought to have been claiming benefits while working on clothing stalls in both Stratford, East London, and another outlet at London’s New Covent Garden Market in Vauxhall.
At the same he time, he has failed to provide any maintenance for his five children with his former wife Kay.
She is the younger sister of actress Laila Rouass who has starred in Footballers’ Wives, Spooks and last year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
When the Daily Mail approached Kay, she refused to discuss her ex-husband or the provision he makes for their children.
But a family friend said: ‘He works illegally, claims benefits and sees virtually nothing of his children.

Muslims attack Christians with wreckless abandon in Nigeria.
There have been more reports crossing my desk in the past couple of weeks than I have had time to post about Muslims murdering Christians in various ways and places, but for only one reason. The victims are Christian, and the killers are Muslim.
