2011: The Year of the Truth About Islam
Gandalf (The Younger) is the French anti-sharia activist who blogs at Vérité, Valeurs & Démocratie (Truth, Values, & Democracy) and founded the Alliance to Stop Sharia. He points out that each new year is labeled “The Year of [Something]”, where “Something” is usually a trendy politically correct issue, such as equal pay for women or the welfare of baby polar bears.

He was inspired to designate 2011 as the year of something different, and christened the coming new year as “L’année de la vérité sur l’islam” — The Year of Truth About Islam. In partnership with Aeneas of the International Civil Liberties Alliance, Gandalf launched his initiative at the ICLA website in English and French:

2011 Year of the truth about Islam

Islam today is a politico-religious system based on the principle of slavery.

The goal of Islamic ideology, as depicted in its fundamental texts, is to enforce, willingly or not, Sharia law upon Humanity.

Sharia law contains the obligation of Jihad, to wage it or to support those who do it, militarily, politically, culturally, socially, and economically.

Sharia law violates Human Rights and the principles of Democracy, it abolishes the right to life, and it threatens the physical integrity and right to property of those who refuse to submit.

It has encouraged conquest, wars, slavery, countless persecutions and murders, and genocides like the Armenian one and today’s systematic attempts to annihilate religious minorities. 14 centuries of efforts to enforce Sharia law on mankind have carved a bloody scar in human history.

Any promotion or spreading, directly or indirectly, of Sharia law make those who commit it are accomplices to religious incitement to hatred and violence on a worldwide scale and thus accomplices of a crime against humanity.

This must be known, this must be said.

We declare 2011 to be the International Year of Truth About Islam.

  1. Richard, I think people get hung up on this way too much. No matter how abhorrent we think having a sexual relationship with a 9 year old girl is I tend to believe that it was not that unusual in those days and not just in the ME. I don’t think we should apply today’s measures of morality. I have no doubts that for many cultures the biological maturity in those days was the key. Women sure didn’t have it easy throughout the ages. However, considering he is supposed to be the God’s last messanger I do find his behaviour very troubling indeed.

  2. JAP:
Check out pre-Islamic culture in Saudi Arabia. It was quite liberal by modern Muslim standards. Mohamed started a sexual relationship with Aisha when she was 6 and he ‘married’ her but did not penetrate her vagina with his penis till she was 9. Thats fact #1. #2 is that no, this was not common. Mohamed was quite the sexual freak. You would have to read all the hadiths to know how warped that monster was but from what I have read, women had many more rights under Christian, Jewish and animist (Meccan) culture than they ever did subsequently under Islam and this includes the right not to be raped as children.

Lastly, Islam teaches that Mohamed was the perfect man and that all Muslim (men) should imitate him in all possible ways. (Except of course the number of wives. Allah made curious exceptions for his prophet so he could screw whatever he wanted) and so now we see many people selling their 6 to 9 year old daughter into sexual and domestic slavery saying that it is Islamic that they do so. And of course, they are correct.

  3. Very valid points, Eeyore. Thanks. I admit I’ve presented more-or-less my gut feelings on the subject. My actual historical knowledge of the ME of that day or hadiths is quite limited.

  4. JAP When I fist started investigating Islam, I remember really laying in to some people who were actually on my side for being extremists. I used to say,

“Islam has enough truthful bad about it, to not need to make up things like ‘Mohamed was a paedophile’ etc.”

The joke was on me, they were correct and I was a deluded Canadian who had been trained to the narrative my whole life. It took reading Koran and listening to countless lectures by experts who backed up what they said with Islamic writings as well as secular ones before I got the message.

It is well worth an afternoon off to read everything you can by Fjordman for example on the subject, or Bernard Payeur’s analysis of Koran, ‘Pain, Pleasure and Prejudice’ or of course any of Robert Spencer’s work and also Dr. Andrew Bostom who is a world class scholar on this material.

It was with great reluctance that I had to concede to the facts as, in my opinion then and now, it is much more difficult to persuade nice moderate people as to the dangers of Islam when you sound like a raving loon on the subject. It is sad that the facts force the impression.

  5. JAP back then as now people who had sex with young kids were looked down upon, it wasn’t illegal but they were considered less then desirable. Girls as young as 12 were often married but that was to boys 14 through 16. Most girls were married between the ages of 16 and 18 and were considered an old maid if not married by 18. The idea that this was common is being spread by people who are apologizing for Islam thinking they will be the last victims. I know most people these days aren’t taught much history and have generally been taught they don’t need to know it, which is a fallacy, if the facts of history were still taught most of our current problems would have been avoided because most people would have seen the results of the actions that lead to this mess.

  6. Back when Mohammad was alive the average life span was about 45 to 50 so he was considered ancient when he lived into his sixties.

  7. That is likely why they decided to honour anyone who lived past 50 with the title, ‘Sheikh’ Unless I have that wrong.

  8. From what I’ve read, Aisha didn’t have any complaints. I would say that she was pretty much in the cat-bird-seat being the favorite wife, who travelled with him and seemed to be there for everything. I’ll bet my hairy ancestors were doing nine-year-olds back in the ol’ seventh century too. Who the heck knows? They just changed the age of consent in Canada from 14 to 16, for Pete’s sake. I hate to be sticking up for The Prophet – scumbag that he was – but I get the feeling that Aisha did alright by Mohammed.

  9. Chris she did all right, but she was forced into the marriage and raped when she was still a little girl, yes she ended up powerful and rich but she was still a victim.
