When she first arrived in Sweden after her rescue from a Nazi concentration camp, Judith Popinski was treated with great kindness.

She raised a family in the city of Malmo, and for the next six decades lived happily in her adopted homeland – until last year.

In 2009, a chapel serving the city’s 700-strong Jewish community was set ablaze. Jewish cemeteries were repeatedly desecrated, worshippers were abused on their way home from prayer, and “Hitler” was mockingly chanted in the streets by masked men.

“I never thought I would see this hatred again in my lifetime, not in Sweden anyway,” Mrs Popinski told The Sunday Telegraph.

“This new hatred comes from Muslim immigrants. The Jewish people are afraid now.” Continue Reading →

Sweden: Mayor of Malmö Revives Zionism is Racism Canard

He’s An antisemite

Ilmar Reepalu:
Arab self determination is fine,
it’s Jewish self determination that I object to.

Another antisemitic Swedish/Scandinavian politician denies the Jews their obvious right to determine their own lives. In an interview, ironically about stamping out antisemtism in Malmö, Sweden,  Mayor of Malmö, Ilmar Reepalu, blames the collective Jew, Israel, for recent attacks against Jews in Malmö, “due to the conflict in Gaza last year spilled over to Malmo.”

But Reepalu goes further to elucidate his true views on Israel, which basically follows the thinking in the Islamic world, that Jews are not allowed a national movement of their own. For him, Zionism equals racism. But he wouldn’t ever dream labeling the Palestinian movement as racist, for not wanting a single Jew to remain on “Arab land”, as well as the Arab/Muslim states that support their position. From the interview:

Skånsen.se: “Have You considered to say in public, that Malmö does not accept antisemitism. Or is it controversial?
Ilmar Reepalu: We don´t accept Zionism or antisemitism. They are extremists, which want to set themselves over other groups and believe they are worth less.”

*NOTE: A sloppy google trans of the Swedish interview in English is available here.

And we all thought such sentiment in Europe at least, ended with the infamous, Zionism = racism resolution being revoked in 1991. Think again, the antisemites are out in full force, this time around, they take up the banner of not being antisemitic all the while they expose themselves as being just that.

Just last year the TT went head to head with Finnish world record holder, pianist, Richard Järnefelt, who believed that his prior good deeds in helping Jews exonerated him from ever being considered an antisemite concerning his views about Israel.

These ignoramus types can’t figure out the gross contradiction in saying that they’re truly “philosemitic”, all the while they equate the Jewish state with the Nazis, and reject Jewish self determination. KGS

NOTE: Malmö was the scene for last year’s antisemitic/anti-Israel demonstration by Israel/Jew haters, who insisted that a Jewish/Israeli tennis player be exluded from the Davis Cup tournament.

H/T: Ted Ekeroth

NOTE: Malmö Sweden has the highest cencentration of Muslim immigrant/refugees in Sweden, and was a former strong hold of support for the Nazis during WWII. This is a clear example of the danger Leftist politicians pose to democracy, when they import mass volumes of people who hold antisemtic views, then court them for their vote.

Pro-Israel rally crashed in Sweden

A pro-Israel rally in Malmo, Sweden was torn apart Sunday by pro-Palestinian residents who arrived on the scene with eggs, bottles, and tear gas grenades which they threw at Israel’s supporters. Police dispersed the entire crowd.

Hundreds of people took part in the rally in support of Israel, which was held at the city’s main square. Elad Meier, a Bnei Akiva and Jewish Agency envoy to Sweden said it was organized by a committee of volunteers from the Jewish community and outside of it.

Protestors carried signs that said ‘Stop eight years of Qassams’ and ‘Peace for children in Israel and Gaza’. The organizers received a police permit for the demonstration.

However, a number of pro-Palestinian protestors who did not have a permit to demonstrate took to the streets in retaliation to the approved rally. They were not dispersed by police despite lacking a permit.

“At some point, about a half an hour after the protest began, pro-Palestinian protestors began to throw eggs, bottles, and even a tear gas grenade,” Meier recounted.

He added that the lawless protestors disconnected the speakers brought to the square by the Jewish community while its leader was speaking. The act brought the pro-Israel rally to an end, as others could not speak.

At this point, Meier said, police stepped in and asked the unruly protestors to leave. Officers then proceeded to clear the square of all present, including those who had received permission to demonstrate.

The pro-Israel protestors were angered by the police’s conduct and lodged an official complaint stating that only those who had protested without a permit should have been dispersed.

Brit hired Swedish Nazis for Auschwitz raid: report

From The Local.se

A Swedish right-wing extremist group agreed to help a wealthy UK-based collector and Nazi sympathizer acquire the “Arbeit Macht Frei” sign from the Auschwitz concentration camp in exchange for “huge money”, according to a British newspaper.

“The collector wanted it as a trophy – and used his neo-Nazi contacts to put word out he was prepared to pay huge money for it,” a source based in Sweden told the Sunday Mirror newspaper.

Last week, Polish justice officials sought assistance in the investigation from their Swedish counterparts in order to follow up on suspicions that the heist was masterminded by someone outside of Poland.

Five men are currently being held in Poland in connection with the December 18th theft of the iconic, five metre long sign, which translates from German to “Work sets you free”.

According to the Mirror, the suspects in Poland were merely “bit-part players” in a larger international plot which would have also benefited pro-Nazi groups in Sweden.

“Arrangements had been made to hide the sign in a cellar in Stockholm, waiting for the British man to collect. The plan was to use the British guy’s money to fund neo-Nazi hate attacks in Sweden,” the source told the newspaper. Continue Reading →

Somali threats against Swedish illustrator

Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who sparked outrage with caricatures of the Muslim prophet Muhammad as a dog, has received threats via telephone from Somalia.

Police in Helsingborg in southern Sweden are taking seriously the threats made against Vilks, which come just three days after Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard was subjected to an axe attack at his home in Denmark.

The first of two phone calls to Vilks came on Monday morning. A subsequent check by the Swedish artist revealed that the call originated in Somalia, where the Islamic militant group al-Shabaab has gained increasing influence in the war torn country.

Al-Shabaab is also believed to have ties to al-Qaeda.

In the last month, al-Shabaab supporters who reportedly used to live in Denmark have killed at least 22 people, including three ministers, in a suicide bomb attack carried out in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

According to Vilks, the man who threatened him spoke Swedish.

“The man, who spoke accented Swedish, asked me if I knew about what happened in Denmark and to the artist Kurt Westergaard. I said I certainly did,” Vilks told the Helsingborgs Dagblad newspaper.

“The man then explained that they were out after more and that they would soon come for me. I told them they were welcome,” said Vilks.

According to Patrik Peter, a spokesman for Swedish security service Säpo, the incident is being investigated by local police.

“It may be that the police will ask for our help in which case we’ll obviously do what we can,” Peter told the TT news agency.

The Helsingborg police have refused to comment on the incident.

“I have no comment whatsoever on how our investigation of the threat is being carried out,” police spokesperson Göran Hassel told TT.

Westergaard was one of the Danish artists who drew cartoons of the Muslim prophet Muhammad for Denmark’s Jyllandsposten newspaper. Westergaard’s drawing portrayed Muhammad with a bomb in his turban.

Iran using INTERPOL as tool for political oppression:

H/T Gates of Vienna: This is a very disturbing development and needs to be investigated. Is INTERPOL the most recent corrupted multinational organisation that instead of acting on it’s original charter and mandate now is a tool of the OIC and states run by tyrants?

Ten Swedes of Iranian descent are named on Interpol’s list of criminals wanted for terrorism and international organized crime.

The men, all of whom hail from Iran’s Kurdistan province, came to Sweden as political refugees twenty years ago, the Dagens Nyheter (DN) newspaper reports.

Despite being active critics of the Iranian regime for more than thirty years, the men’s names and pictures only recently appeared on Interpol’s list of wanted fugitives, following a request from Iran.

“I was obviously surprised that Interpol would simply describe us using the same words as the Iranian police. It seems very strange to me,” Khaled Haji Mohammadi, one of the men now labeled as a fugitive by Interpol, told The Local.

Mohammadi is one of twelve members of the Worker-Communist Party of Iran – Hekmatist whose names were posted on the Interpol list.

“I don’t know what sort of political or economic agreement Iran may have with Interpol, but it’s very surprising that Interpol would abide by the demands of a request from a regime that has executed so many of its critics.”

Mohammadi doesn’t deny he has long been critical of the Islamic regime in Iran, which he claims has imprisoned and killed many fellow activists in the years since he left the country to seek political asylum in Sweden.

“I’m used to being harassed and criticized by the Islamic regime in Iran,” he said.

But Interpol’s decision to agree to Iran’s request to list him and his colleagues as organized criminals and terrorists left him puzzled.

While Mohammadi has no plans to back down from supporting human and workers’ rights in Iran, he remains concerned that by enlisting a respected international policing body, Iran may add legitimacy to its claims.

“Obviously it’s a problem because it’s Interpol,” he said.

“No one cares what Iran says, but if it’s on Interpol, that’s something different.” Continue Reading →

Obama tells side splitter in Norway on Islam in America

Thanks to Islam in Europe for this tip. Make sure you are not drinking milk when you watch this, You don’t want it shooting out your nose.

Obama actually did say something rather excellent though in Norway. While there is so much wrong he did say and which will get well reported, I think I will stick to this snippet of his speech which comes to me by way of Larwyn’s links, and think to myself that perhaps Obama is learning a thing or two whilst sitting in the big chair.

“But as a head of state sworn to protect and defend my nation, I cannot be guided by their examples alone. I face the world as it is, and cannot stand idle in the face of threats to the American people. For make no mistake: evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler’s armies. Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda’s leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force is sometimes necessary is not a call to cynicism – it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.”
And then, moments later he hit it out of the park: “Yet the world must remember that it was not simply international institutions — not just treaties and declarations — that brought stability to a post-World War II world. Whatever mistakes we have made, the plain fact is this: the United States of America has helped underwrite global security for more than six decades with the blood of our citizens and the strength of our arms. The service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform has promoted peace and prosperity from Germany to Korea, and enabled democracy to take hold in places like the Balkans. We have borne this burden not because we seek to impose our will. We have done so out of enlightened self-interest – because we seek a better future for our children and grandchildren, and we believe that their lives will be better if other peoples’ children and grandchildren can live in freedom and prosperity.”

Muslim dentist loses discrimination suit

David Landes

Published: 30 Nov 09 17:39 CET

A Muslim woman from Kista north of Stockholm who was denied a job as a dentist after refusing to wear short-sleeved work clothes for religious reasons has lost her discrimination case against the Swedish Public Dental Service (Folktandvården).

“It’s incomprehensible,” the woman told The Local following the ruling by the Stockholm District Court.

Following the completion of her dental studies in January 2008, the now 29-year-old woman applied for a position with the public dental service in Stockholm.

During the hiring process, she was informed that the dental agency requires personnel to wear short-sleeved gowns when treating patients.

But the rules, put in place for hygiene reasons, came into conflict with her Muslim faith, which requires that she show as little skin as possible in public.

Looking for a solution, she said she would be willing to wear disposable arm sleeves over a long-sleeved gown.

“We presented evidence from Socialstyrelsen (National Board of Health and Welfare) that showed that using these disposable arm sleeves has the same level of hygiene,” she said.

After Folktandvården rejected the compromise, she sued the dental service for 150,000 kronor ($21,500) in damages alleging the organization’s refusal to accommodate her request to avoid short-sleeved work clothes amounted to discrimination.

But the Stockholm court sided with the dental service, finding that the decision not to hire the woman did not amount to discrimination.

In its ruling, the court cited health board regulations which recommend healthcare personnel use short-sleeved gowns when examining patients.

“Even it if means a disadvantaging of Muslims […], Folktandvården is required to follow the current guidelines for basic hygiene for the healthcare system,” the court wrote in its judgment.

The court also ordered the woman to pay 250,000 kronor to cover the dental service’s court costs, something which she said is not going to be easy.

“It’s pretty unacceptable. I’m not working right now and have no income,” she said, adding that she is currently supported by her father.

The 29-year-old told The Local she is considering an appeal, but has yet to make up her mind.

The far left get’s trounced out of Muslim Rosengard Sweden

Here is an interesting and somewhat amusing event from Aug, 2009. Some violent anarchists who call themselves Antifa, for anti fascist or, Anti Fascist Action, went to Muslim Rosengard Sweden hoping to exacerbate some violence and general rioting. Here is how it actually turned out this time.

Many thanks!

This video was filmed on Saturday 22 August 2009

Members of left wing AFA or Antifa (Anti Fascist Action – Sweden) had attempted to organise a local Street festival in Rosengård, Sweden. However things did not go to plan as local young Muslims were not ‘being organised’ by anyone and unceremoniously evicted the AFA who were then relegated to holding their ‘Street festival’ outside of a nearby ‘petrol station’, where they threw stones, bottles, and burning objects at police cars.

This article in the The Local has more information, although it is very careful to avoid identifying either the political or the ethnic aspects of the encounter. To the Swedish media, the masked Antifa are “activists”, and the violent young Muslims are “residents of Rosengård”.
