Three or so weeks back, a submerged car was found in the Rideau Canal in Kingston, Ont., containing the bodies of three teenage girls and their aunt — a story initially reported as Mysterious Death Of 4 Quebecers Baffles Kingston Police. When it emerged that the four female Quebecers were, in fact, Muslim, the tearful parents offered up a strange tale of an impromptu midnight driving lesson gone tragically wrong (Driving Lesson May Have Led To Drowning).
La Presse is now reporting that the girls’ father, mother, and brother have been arrested en route to Montreal Airport, and that the deceased “aunt” or (alternatively) “cousin” was, in fact, the girls’ father’s first wife. The words “crime d’honneur” are beginning to creep into newspaper accounts.
Meanwhile, the blogger Scaramouche suggests that, while they’re looking into honor killings in the Kingston area, the constabulary might take a gander at another curious aquatic accident this month:
Police say 14-year-old Kinza Kaianad died Monday evening at Kingston General Hospital as a result of injuries she sustained Saturday in a hotel pool in Gananoque, roughly 30 kilometres east of Kingston.
Her mother, 43-year-old Naila Yasmin, died in hospital on Sunday.
Yasmin, Kaianad and another daughter, age 11, were found unconscious in the indoor hotel pool just before 9 a.m. Saturday.
There would seem to be a statistically improbable number of multiple drownings of female members of Muslim families in Kingston this summer. If you’re a young female Muslim, and you have any say in the matter, you might want to vacation elsewhere.

Family members charged with first-degree murder in Kingston canal deaths

KINGSTON, Ont. — Three family members from Montreal were charged Thursday in the deaths of three young sisters and a woman last month in Kingston, Ont.
The girls’ father Mohammad Shafii, mother Tooba Mohammad Yahya and 18-year-old brother, Hamid Mohammed Shafii, were each charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of conspiracy to commit murder, Kingston police said at a news conference Thursday.
“It was a needless and sensitive loss of human life,” said Kingston police chief Stephen Tanner. ” . . . They had their lives cut short by members of their own family.”
The bodies of three sisters — Zainab Shafii, 19, Sahar Shafii, 17 and Geeti Shafii, 13 — and their female relative Rona Amir Mohammed, 50, were discovered in a submerged car, near the Kingston Mills locks on the Rideau Canal June 30. The older woman has now been confirmed to be the girls’ father’s first wife.
While Kingston police have always referred to the deaths as suspicious, they revealed Thursday that they had been looking at this case as a homicide all along.
A coroner’s investigation has been completed but police say they will not release the cause of deaths of the four women until they are before the courts.
The three accused had told police the family were returning to Montreal after vacationing and visiting relatives in Niagara Falls.
The family, travelling in two cars, stopped at a hotel late at night during the trip and, according to Yahya, the girls’ mother, that her eldest daughter had asked for the keys to their Nissan Altima.
Yahya said she assumed her daughter wanted to practise driving and took the car without permission before it somehow ended up in the canal.
Police said Thursday that the three accused were actually the ones who “operated” the Nissan.
The second vehicle, a Lexus, which had been driving back to Montreal by the girls’ brother, has been linked to the crime scene, police said.
Investigators said it took three weeks to make the arrests because it was a “unique” case involving information coming in from overseas. Tanner confirmed that an email was received by police by someone who claimed to be a relative. He would not say if it was from Diba Masoomi, a woman living in Niort, France who claims to be the older woman’s sister. He said that would be revealed at a later date.
Three children aged 8 to 15 have been taken in child protection services in Montreal.
The three sisters were all born in Kabul, Afghanistan. Their family moved to Dubai in the 1990s and to Canada two years ago.

Kingston Police have arrested at least three people in connection with the mysterious deaths of four Montreal women found in a submerged car in Kingston Mills on June 30.
Police sources confirmed the dramatic development in the case yesterday, 22 days after a black Nissan Sentra was found in roughly three metres of water near one of the four locks.
Three teenage sisters were found dead in the car, Zainab Shafi, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, along with a 50-year-old woman, Rona Amir Mohammed.
La Presse newspaper in Montreal said three people who were heading to Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport were arrested yesterday morning.
Initially, police said the case was suspicious but that they had not found evidence of foul play.
It’s not clear what charges are being laid, but the Whig-Standard learned that Kingston Police have been investigating, for at least two weeks, the allegation that the deaths were an honour killing. Continue Reading →

Malaysia case crucial for understanding sharia courts in west
In the past few years there have been a number of complex issues facing the western world in terms of Islamic demands for accommodation within non western cultures. The two most important and confusing perhaps, are the notions of sharia courts and Islamic financing within the greater context of western law and banking systems.
Many Muslims and apologists tend to argue that in many nations including Canada, Jewish and Catholic systems of family jurisprudence are already set up and operating, so it is a gross travesty to not allow Muslim sharia courts to operate also.
The problem is as it often is, the intellectual slight of hand of what I call ‘the levels of abstraction game.’
Let me illustrate:
‘Catholicism is a religion. Judaism is a religion. Islam is generally thought of as a religion. So if the first two can operate their own system of family law etc, within the greater western framework why cannot Muslims?’
This question is tantamount to:
‘Hitler wore pants, Mary Tyler Moore wore pants, 1960s TV beauties must therefore lead the Nazi party.
Consider this example from multicultural Malaysia where sharia courts operate along side secular courts.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – An Islamic court in Malaysia has sentenced a Muslim woman to be flogged with a rattan cane for having a beer in a nightclub, a court official said Tuesday.
It is rare for a woman in Malaysia to be sentenced to caning – a punishment usually reserved for men in various crimes ranging from rape to bribery.
Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno was sentenced Monday to six lashes and a fine of 5,000 ringgit ($1,400) for consuming alcohol, said a Shariah High Court official who declined to be identified because he was not authorized to make public statements.
Shukarno, a 32-year-old model, pleaded guilty in the court in eastern Pahang state to a charge of drinking beer when Islamic authorities raided a hotel nightclub in August 2008.
Consuming alcohol is a religious offence in Malaysia only for Muslims, who make up nearly two-thirds of the population. Offenders are prosecuted in Shariah courts, which handle cases mainly related to family and moral issues for Muslims.
Most offenders are fined, but the law also provides for a three-year prison term and caning. Shukarno was the only Muslim caught in the raid at the Pahang nightclub.
Malaysian clubs and lounges typically serve alcohol but are not legally required to check if customers are Muslim before serving them, so the hotel nightclub operators were not charged with any offence.
Shukarno plans to appeal the sentence, the New Straits Times daily reported.
The punishment “is aimed at making the accused repent and serves as a lesson to Muslims,” the newspaper quoted Judge Abdul Rahman Yunus as saying.
The judge did not elaborate on why he imposed a relatively severe sentence, but local media noted that he had a history of being tough on alcohol offenders.
Rattan canes used in the punishment are made from palm plants common in tropical parts of Asia. They have been used for decades for corporal punishments in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

Now how many reading this imagine that this woman had any choice whatsoever in the matter of what court she would be tried in? Clearly she had no options. She cannot simply declare herself ‘not a Muslim’ as that would mean apostasy and she would be killed for it. There is no rational comparison between sharia law and Jewish or Christian law, in as much as such a thing even exists, whatsoever. Only Islam is a complete system, legal, religious, sexual, even absurdly medical. It is crucial that Islamic apologists do not further inculcate gullible westerners with relativist nonsense. Islam is so different from religion as we think of it, that it must not be allowed the usual exceptions and privileges of Christian and Jewish traditions to secular law. As another example, a church may from time to time harbour certain people who take refuge from the law. This is an ancient tradition where the church agrees to certain concessions and the state agrees to allow them certain minor immunities. Shades of Norjiega hiding at the Papal Nuncio in Panama spring to mind. However churches are never fronts for bomb making factories and mosques so frequently are, it isn’t even news anymore.
Mosque in fact, equals arsenal. Ultimately, we in the west must come to certain realizations. We are being hoodwinked by our own leftists who use this intellectual slight of hand to force us to concede to false comparisons with respect to Islam. These concessions may destroy our own culture values and freedoms as it did the indigenous people of the various nations Islam now lays claim to today.
Remember, no nation which is now Islamic simply converted by choice. All where conquered even Saudi Arabia itself and by bloody conquest, deception rape and theft.
British people, be afraid. Be very afraid.

That’s what Simon Hughes, the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for North Southwark and Bermondsey, said to British Muslims gathered for the Global Peace and Unity Event on October 25th, 2008.
He also said, “Every country of the world is your country.”
And he said much, much more than that. Here’s the video:
Mr. Hughes is gay, and homosexuality was an issue when he was first elected to Parliament. Funnily enough, it wasn’t his own sexual orientation that caused controversy, but that of his opponent. From the wiki on him:
The by-election was described by Gay News as “the dirtiest and most notorious by-election in British political history” because of the slurs against the character of the Labour candidate and gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell by various opposition campaigners. The Liberal Campaign leaflet described the election as a “straight choice”, a standard campaigning slogan which was open to misinterpretation. Hughes won the seat with 57.7% of the vote. He apologised for the campaign in 2006, during the same few days revealing his own homosexual experiences, and confirming that he is bisexual after being outed by The Sun newspaper
And this is the man who is now pandering so shamelessly to the local British representatives of the Ummah…
You’ll notice that Mr. Hughes opens his address with “salaam aleikum”, the standard Muslim-to-Muslim greeting. He then quotes from Sura 45 and other parts of the Koran. The Hon. MP may want to meditate on another part of Sura 45, namely verses 7-11:
Woe to each sinful dealer in Falsehoods:
He hears the Signs of Allah rehearsed to him, yet is obstinate and lofty, as if he had not heard them: then announce to him a Penalty Grievous!
And when he learns something of Our Signs, he takes them in jest: for such there will be a humiliating Penalty.
In front of them is Hell: and of no profit to them is anything they may have earned, nor any protectors they may have taken to themselves besides Allah: for them is a tremendous Penalty.
This is (true) Guidance and for those who reject the Signs of their Lord, is a grievous Penalty of abomination.
Mr. Hughes looks ahead with great anticipation to the election of Barack Hussein Obama. It’s obvious that both he and his enthusiastic audience consider Obama to be a Muslim, and that his election will constitute a great sea change in which America reverses position and embraces the Muslim world.
But his wrap-up is the most chilling part of his speech: borders must be abolished, all nations become one, and his Muslim “brothers and sisters” step forward to take their rightful place as leaders of this new transnational entity.
Now, remember: this man was lawfully elected to his office by the voters. Judging by the location of his constituency — just south of the Thames — its voters must be fairly culturally enriched.
But were “persons of British background” a minority among them?
Please tell me that citizens of good English stock were not the ones responsible for voting this man into Parliament.

Long live the Taliban” might seem an unlikely thing for a prominent anti-war figure to declare, but that’s to-day’s peace movement for you. Stranger still, the man who recently uttered those words, Azzam Tamimi, is being promoted by a new Toronto-based institute that says it is embarking upon a national campaign to cultivate wholesome, faith-based civic virtues among Canada’s young Muslims.
The Mississauga, Ont.-based Al-Fauz Institute for Islamic Thought claims its purpose is to teach young Muslims how to apply Islamic ideas to Canada’s pluralistic society and “prepare young minds that will take up the mantle of the Muslim community.” But Tamimi — who currently has top billing on the Al-Fauz website, and is listed as a member of the institute’s “faculty” — has loudly renounced democracy. Indeed, he recently proclaimed: “I don’t believe in democracy anymore,” explicitly praises suicide bombers, and says he is willing to blow himself up in Israel: “It’s the straight way to pleasing my God and I would do it if I had the opportunity.” He distinguishes good Muslims from their adversaries this way: “We love death. KARACHI: The Lawyers for Human Rights and Legal Aid (LHRLA) held a press conference for a couple and their children who being victims of tribal customs, on Wednesday.
Ghulam Sarwar and his wife Rahila Ghulam, residents of Tehsil Jhat Pat, district Jaffarabad, Balochistan said If the government would not provide them immediate protection, they would have no other option left, but to marry their three minor daughters to unknown men in accordance with the jirga’s decision.
The couple said that they had married out of choice about five years ago but Rahila’s family was not happy with this decision and they summoned a jirga regarding the case about three years back.
The jirga decided that the couple would have to marry off four daughters and also give Rs 1.5 million for their rebellion against the tribal customs.
The jirga comprised of Rahila’s father, Mir Dost, her three uncles namely Shah Dost, Arbab and Ali Dost and her cousins, said Ghulam Sarwar. Later, Rahila’s father decided that we would have to pay a fine of Rs 500,000 and marry off four of our daughters, he added. We paid the revised fine but declined to marry our daughters as they were just toddlers, the exasperated man added.
I have three minor daughters Paras, 4, Sughra, 2, and Rehmat who is just eight months old and I will not marry my daughters to my paternal uncles, said Rahila while bitterly crying.
The couple said that Rahila’s uncles had been threatening that they will face dire consequences if the daughters are not given soon, while they also sent armed men to their house on July 7. They narrowly escaped being caught and killed and fled to Karachi.
They have lodged an FIR against the members of the jirga and are awaiting help from the government. ppi

The UK may show this in theaters. It is possible this will cause riots but not because any Muslims object to the content, only that they object to a film that makes Islam appear imperfect or antithetical to western values. When Moe was lampooned in the Danish cartoons we all remember the world wide riots. This was not because of the use of the image of Moe. It was because it was not under terms Muslims where OK with. Islam has no problem with the objectification of women and dehumanizing of them. It simply does not like it when we point out that these are bad things. I will be interested to see what fallout of any there is to the screening of this film in England given that they barred Geeert Wilders for his far less damning film ‘Fitna.’
Bangladeshi woman sentanced to 5 years for attempted murder of her daughter and second cousin
There is so much wrong in this story it is difficult to read. Was this really an arranged marriage as the story claims or more typical of Islam, a forced one. These two people are cousins. Is a first cousin marriage legal in the UK at all?
This woman was a prisoner of sharia in her UK home to the point that she was longing to go back to Bangladesh. Is sharia now so draconian and enforceable in England that years and years can go by and women will not be able to get out from its grip to the point that Bangladesh seems like a bastion of freedom and women’s rights? All this and we haven’t even touched on the near unimaginable wrong of a mother stabbing her baby. As to sharia law in the UK Anyone who has read Bruce Bawer’s excellent book, ‘While Europe Slept’ of course knows the answer to that. But to see it spelled out so casually in British news is frankly terrifying. The casual nature of the events and facts of this family and how they live. That the judge is awarding the baby daughter to the father and not the state. That the cost to the UK taxpayer for all the medical bills for this sort of action while indigenous British people who live responsibly and avoid marrying cousins and stabbing their babies have to pay the massive bills medical and legal for those who hold nothing but contempt for British culture and laws.
Frankly, there is an entire essay that could be done about the unasked questions in the article below.

Mother jailed for stabbing her baby after arranged-marriage husband tried to force her to leave Britain

A mother who tried to kill her own baby was jailed for just five years today after a judge said she had felt ‘powerless’ in an arranged marriage.
The desperate woman stabbed her eight-month-old daughter with a kitchen knife after her husband told her to leave Britain but said she could not take the child with her.
He gave his Bangladesh-born bride a one-way ticket out of Britain and took out a court injunction, banning her from taking their child out of the country.
A 25-year-old woman was sentenced to five years in prison for attempting to stab her eight-month old child to death to prevent them being separated
The 25-year-old told relatives she would kill the baby and then commit suicide herself rather be separated from her child, saying: ‘If I can’t have her then no-one will.’
The Old Bailey heard she had plunged the kitchen knife into her tiny daughter’s stomach, causing a 1.6 inch wound which almost killed the child.
One of the baby’s ribs stopped the blade and she underwent emergency surgery to save her from the stabbing. Continue Reading →
