Report: Turkey will also “send weapons, rockets, guns” to Lebanon.

Talkbacks (47)

Turkey and Iran are rumored to be helping Hizbullah obtain new weapons, Italian daily Corriere Della Sera reported on Wednesday evening.

Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Fidan reportedly met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Taeb to discuss relations between the two countries.

Sources told Corriere Della Sera that Turkey will “send sophisticated weapons, rockets and guns to Syria, that will end up in Lebanon,” where the Iranian Army will ensure the weapons are transferred to Hizbullah.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards “will facilitate the transition, ensure safety, watch loads on the routes, and provide support to the border,” the report said.

The Iranians reportedly want to build a weapons network similar to that in the Sudan, and hope to help Hamas, as well.

The Italian newspaper reported that Western intelligence sources “view the Turkish-Iranian plot with concern, as they are obvious risks to safety.”

“The [intelligence] services in Ankara are among the best in the region,” sources told Corriere Della Sera. “They have great knowledge of the Middle East, and know how to move on the routes of illegal trafficking.”

Two reports on the Israel – Lebanon border issue

Here first is a STRATFOR report which is quite well done and actually offers a decent analysis as well as report what both sides claim took place.

Below, a Reuters report where I have added a couple of facts myself. This report is so poorly done as to be fiction as it bears little to no resemblance to any facts on the ground.

STRATFOR:

From Stratfor:

July 7, 2010
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Northern Command declassified visual evidence of Hezbollah’s buildup in nearly 200 southern Lebanese villages, The Jerusalem Post reported July 7. An IDF delegation was sent to show the evidence to the United Nations and the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon. The IDF estimates there are around 20,000 Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon. A senior IDF source said there has been no indication that Syria, Lebanon or Hezbollah plan to attack Israel, Voice of Israel reported. The unnamed official added that he had no information suggesting that Syria had acquired an advanced radar system.

A TT EXCLUSIVE: TROUBLE BREWING IN LEBANON AS CHRISTIAN DIASPORA ADVISED NOT TO RETURN FOR THE SUMMER

This is as serious as it gets. A Tundra Tabloids’ correspondent files the following report from Lebanon under the pseudonym, “Patron of Beirut”, concerning the take over (read= Islamization) of his country by the Iranian backed, Hizbollah, and the Saudi backed Sunni. PB also reports that there is serious talk of an upcoming war between Hizbollah and Israel, as well as a civil war between Hizbollah and united Christian factions. KGS

Nasrallah: Complete Islamization or bust

The Patron of Beirut:

The situation in Lebanon so far doesn’t look so good. There is tension in the air due to the municipality elections taking place next Sunday. There is a threat for the Christians in the region, if a war breaks out out between Hizbollah and Israel, the Shiia, the Hizbollah will take over the Christian areas in Beirut and in the South.

I have received messages from two sources with close contacts with the Christian parties, the Christian military forces there, that they are preparing for a war between them, (if Hizbollah starts a war with Israel) if Hizbollah starts to act against the Christian forces in the area, if they try to take over the mountain areas overlooking Beirut. They’re saying that Hizbollah will start the war by doing some kind of military operation in the south.

So Hizbollah will start some initiative on the border with Israel, and at the same time it will take a form of a civil war between the Muslims and the Christians, between the Shiia and the Marionites. According to my well placed sources, regarding certain Christian goups aligned with Hizbollah, (former general Michel Aoun’s ‘Free Patriotic Movement’ ), there won’t be any infighting between the different Christian groups, regardless of the past, even though that they have been aligned politically for some time now, between the head of army and Nasrallah.

So there won’t be any bi-lateral Christian-Muslim front against other Christians, it just won’t happen. Only the Lebanese forces (of the Christian factions) are well prepared with arms, they are well prepared for the upcoming war (with Hizbollah). They want to take over certain areas, on the high hills overlooking Beirut if the actions starts, because they want to use these areas against the F-16’s (Israeli warplanes), they are very tall mountains about 1.6 kilometers above the sea.

There is evidence that the Hizbollah will want to be in charge of the Christian areas (mountain range overlooking Beirut) if such a war happens between Hizbollah and Israel on the border. I know of Christians living in the diaspora who have been warned by politicians through personal contacts that it’s not wise to come to the south of Lebanon for the summer. I even believe that the embassies are starting to warn Lebanese citizens abroad not to come to Lebanon this summer, not officially, but quietly between private exchanges not to make the trip at this time.

The other big issue has been the buying of Christian land by Hizbollah which will devolve into taking of land once Hizbollah start something on the border with Israel, this is what will happen, what is expected to happen once things start. The Iranian government is controlling the PR front that that it doesn’t control Hizbollah but under the table they’re going to push them to start the move.

The reason why the big push is coming is related to Obama’s politics, possibly they feel that there is a tentative agreement between Washington and J’lem that Israel is not to attack Iran, but send a message to Tehran by attacking Lebanon and Syria, to be a warning of sorts to Iran. Just last night there is word that Hizbollah is moving close to the border with Israel, such a move is bound to cause a heightened sense of tension along the border and in the region.

Islamization

The Christians of Lebanon are tempted, in particular in the South and in Beirut to sell their lands to Muslims, who continue threaten their existence in a country that used to be predominently Christian for centuries. Many express that they suffer serious difficulties and that the only solution is immigration, this has caused many families to abandon their properties and lands and leave their country.

The “sale of Christian territory” however is a phenomenon growing day by day, for years, which now reduces the effective Christian presence in the region.

In quite the opposite, both Shiaa and Sunnii groups have started to purchase lands belonging to Christians by creating commercial centres and institutions for this purpose. This process would start by searching for Christians who need money due the lack of jobs among the Christian communities. Sometimes there are no other options except that the land owner sells, even though prices are at a steal. The big question today is new demographic changes in Lebanon. Many contacts tell me that the source of the money is Iranian, in a long term strategy to Islamize the land. Foreign funds, many agree, is designed to link some areas in the South and the East Bekaa vally areas to ensure the dominating Shiia population as the political actor.

Iran boosts Qods shock troops in Venezuela

From The Washington Times

By Bill Gertz

Iran is increasing its paramilitary Qods force operatives in Venezuela while covertly continuing supplies of weapons and explosives to Taliban and other insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to the Pentagon’s first report to Congress on Tehran’s military.

The report on Iranian military power provides new details on the group known formally as the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF), the Islamist shock troops deployed around the world to advance Iranian interests. The unit is aligned with terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, North Africa and Latin America, and the report warns that U.S. forces are likely to battle the Iranian paramilitaries in the future. TALIBAN commanders have revealed that hundreds of insurgents have been trained in Iran to kill Nato forces in Afghanistan.

The commanders said they had learnt to mount complex ambushes and lay improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which have been responsible for most of the deaths of British troops in Helmand province.

The accounts of two commanders, in interviews with The Sunday Times, are the first descriptions of training of the Taliban in Iran.

According to the commanders, Iranian officials paid them to attend three-month courses during the winter.

Instructors in plain clothes provided daily exercises in live firing. The first month was devoted largely to teaching the Taliban how to attack convoys and how to escape before Nato forces could respond.

During their second month they were shown how to plant IEDs in sequence so that the rescuers of soldiers wounded in one blast would be caught in further explosions.

The third month was spent on storming bases and checkpoints. A hilltop fort was among the locations used for practice by a Taliban platoon. Continue Reading →

Secret report: Iran bomb closer than ever

From Ynet news with a H/T to Fred over at GAR

Der Spiegel: Intelligence information shows Iran could produce truck-sized nuke bomb this year

Iran’s scientists could produce a basic truck-sized nuclear bomb this year, German Magazine Der Spiegel reported Monday.

Tehran now needs to work on compressing such bomb so it can be fitted on a ballistic missile, the magazine says. According to estimates, Iran could reach that stage by sometime between 2012 and 2014.

Der Spiegel’s report is based on secret intelligence information handed over to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

According to the report, Iran’s nuclear program, which answers to the country’s Defense Ministry, includes a secret military branch that engages in the program’s military aspects and is responsible for Tehran’s nuclear sites.

“The Iranians are believed to have conducted non-nuclear tests of a detonating mechanism for a nuclear bomb more than six years ago,” the German magazine says.

The secret arm, known as the Department for Expanded High-Technology Applications, constitutes “the secret heart of Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” Der Spiegel says.

According to the report, the secret branch is headed by Minister of Science, Research and Technology Kamran Daneshjoo and senior scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who also serves as a senior Revolutionary Guard officer.

According to the information presented in the report, a computer seized in Iran years ago contained highly volatile information, which convinced officials that the Iranian regime is eager to develop a nuclear bomb and is at advanced stages of the project

Iran: Tehran Has Advanced Nuclear-Bomb Plans – Intelligence Dossier
January 25, 2010
There is a secret military branch of Iran’s nuclear research program that answers to the Defense Ministry, Tehran plans to develop a nuclear bomb and those plans are advanced, Spiegel reported Jan. 25, citing an intelligence dossier built from sources in Iran and high-level defectors. The document is reportedly being studied by diplomatic circles in the United States, Israel and Germany. At the heart of Iranian bomb development is a center that is a suborganization of Tehran’s Defense Ministry known as the FEDAT, or Department for Expanded High-Technology Applications, and the country’s nuclear energy agency. The agency supervises uranium enrichment and the FEDAT focuses on the construction of a nuclear warhead that will reportedly be used in Shahab missiles. The Iranian government has reportedly classified the technology as “feasible.”

Taking stock of Iran: Iran attacks German satellite

Lets see:

Iran is fighting a proxy war against Saudi Arabia by funding militants in Yemen.

Iran recently sent men and tanks to take over an Iraqi oil well a good distance within Iraq and took down the Iraq flag and hoisted an Iranian one

Iran is funding and equipping the terrorists in Gaza to attack Israel and at this time also Egypt. It is worth remembering that there is a main street in Tehran named after the man who murdered Anwar Sedat for having made peace with Israel.

Iran of course has Hizbolah cells that have all but taken over Lebanon and have a great deal of influence in Syria. Now Hizbolah has serious bases in Venezuela and will certainly give Chavez a lot more than he bargained for when the US is forced to retaliate for Hizbolah actions originating out of Venezuela, as is more and more likely.

Iran interferes with German news satellite

Published: 2 Jan 10 11:55 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.de/national/20100102-24309.html

The German state foreign broadcasting network Deutsche Welle (DW) was the target of a deliberate jamming signal originating in Iran, according to a report in news magazine Der Spiegel.

According to the report, the French national radio regulatory agency Agence Nationale des Fréquences wrote to the Iranian Ministry of Communication saying that on December 7 and December 8 signals had been detected that looked like “deliberate interference” with the DW satellite.

The affected satellite was the Hot-Bird satellite belonging to Eutelsat. The satellite operators apparently reacted to the disturbance by increasing the broadcasting power, whereupon the disturbance signal was also strengthened, cutting out an Arabian language TV broadcast from DW.

The origin of the disturbance was traced to the area of Tehran. Similar disturbances coming from Iran were already detected by the French authority in May and June 2009.

Iran bringing in Hizbulah as goons to Qom

According to Stratfor, Iran is rumoured to be bringing in hundreds of Hizbolah men to Qom as goons to act against anti government protesters. If this is true we will know within the week. Chances are, some of the reports we are reading about non uniformed men acting violently against protesters already are likely Hizbolah. Certainly Hizblah are seen frequently in the streets of Iranian cities according to a Chris Hitchens interview from years ago.

But what an ugly government that brings in hired thugs from another nation to control its own population. I can’t think of much worse except what Iran plans for Israel, the US and perhaps Saudi Arabia even.

December 25, 2009
A STRATFOR source reported Dec. 25 that hundreds of Hezbollah security forces have been dispatched to Iran in anticipation of the opposition demonstrations planned for Dec. 27, the Shiite holy day of Ashura. The source indicated that most of the Hezbollah forces would be sent to Qom, where demonstrations have broken out in the past week. This report has not been confirmed.

By the way, for anyone who likes this sort of geopolitical analysis on world affairs I suggest buying a STRATFOR membership. It is fallable indeed as they really got the Iranian nuclear program wrong. But overall it is a fantastic way to think and a good augmentation of more typical ways of thinking about war and politics.

Bolivia’s “Profoundly socialist” government merrily in bed with Islam…

…much to the anger of actual rights groups. Once again, the left shows its corrupt authoritarian leanings while its veneer of sanctimony splits at all seams.

This should be embarrasing to the worlds leftists. But it will not. Like ‘climategate’ the mere facts of climatology will make no difference just as this clear example of irrational authoritarianism will not temper Bolivia’s socialists one bit, as the anthropgenic global warming movement never really had anything to do with climate, and socialism never really had anything to do with social justice.

H/T to Islam in Europe:

From The Reality Check.org

On Wednesday, November 24, Iranian demands that female nurses don the hijab in response to Iran’s providing $1.2 million for funding of the new El Alto city hospital in Bolivia sparked a national outcry among women’s rights advocates within Bolivia.  In an international teleconference in La Paz held between Bolivian President, Evo Morales, and Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to celebrate the hospital’s opening, nurses were shown wearing hijabs as part of their new uniform regulations.

This imposition of political Islamic pseudo-religious attire from another country is causing a rift within Bolivian political ranks.  Even though the Morales administration is the profoundly socialist MAS party, the Iranian demand is still seen as an affront on Bolivian cultural integrity especially in a country with a Roman Catholic majority.

Lourdes Millares, the Deputy for the Democratic and Social Power Party called the Iranian hijab demand, “…an assault on the dignity of women…” and excoriated Morales for, “…submission to the rules of another government.”

Millares went on to state, “We must make clear to the Iranian government that that hospital is Bolivian territory.  They have made their money is one thing but this is Bolivian territory.”

Although Millares finds it hard to believe that the hospital would willingly impose the hijab, the government run newspaper, Cambio, states that the hijab reflects, “…health,  cleanliness and respect for the culture of Iran.”  However, Health Minister, Ramiro Tapia, also called the new hijab regulation an, “…assault on women.” His office is under heavy demand by outraged Bolivians for an explanation of the veil, which is not an Islamic religious requirement, but a visible manifestation of aggressive Islamic political conquest much like secular clothing and colors represent gang territorial boundaries.

Started as a visual method of approval for their fundamentalist male counterparts in the early ‘70s among female university students in Egypt, the hijab had been banned in Turkey and Egypt until recently.  It is still banned in Tunisia and was recently banned in public venues in France.  It is not an Islamic religious requirement nor is it mentioned in the Koran or hadiths.  The hijab’s sole purpose is as a political and cultural tool thereby designating it as veiling resistance.

Unfortunately, the experience of the Bolivian nurses is not unique.  Even though the hijab is not universal attire within the Muslim world, it is being used to wage relentless warfare on women by forcing its wearing and thereby submission to fundamentalist Islam on moderate Muslim and non-Muslim women alike.  In the UK recently a Tory Muslim Peer, Baroness Warsi, was egged by fundamentalist Muslim men for not wearing the veil as she walked in Western dress within her constituency.  Christian women in France, who must travel through heavily populated Muslim sections of their towns and cities, routinely don the hijab for safety’s sake.

Alleged Hezbollah cell sold Canadian passport: FBI

Group accused of arms smuggling

TORONTO — The FBI has dismantled an alleged Hezbollah cell accused of dealing, depositing counterfeit money in a Canadian bank and selling a Canadian passport to support the Lebanese terrorist group.

Ten people from New York, New Jersey, Lebanon and Venezuela have been indicted and face up to 30 years in prison following an investigation that began in 2006, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Tuesday.

The indictments link Hezbollah to a wide array of crimes, ranging from counterfeiting U.S. currency and money laundering to fencing stolen cars, cellular phones, laptops and Sony PlayStation 2 systems.

The case also implicates Iran and Syria in Hezbollah’s illicit arms network. The suspects allegedly tried to ship guns to Latakia, a Syrian port they said was controlled by Hezbollah. And Hezbollah officials in Iran were allegedly involved in the weapons purchase.

During the investigation, one of the suspected ringleaders told an undercover agent that “Hezbollah receives a great deal of money from Iran” and “maintains small cells throughout the world.” He cited the bombing of a Jewish centre in Argentina as an example.

“The allegations contained in this complaint demonstrate how terrorist organizations rely on a variety of underlying activities to fund and arm themselves,” said David Kriss, the Assistant U.S. Attorney.

The group allegedly attempted to ship 1,200 Colt M-4 machine guns through Syria to Hezbollah. To raise money, it sold passports for $10,000, including a genuine Canadian passport into which a false page had been inserted.

A suspected ringleader of the group, Dib Hani Harb, is the son-in-law of Hassan Hodroj, a member of the Hezbollah Political Council. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah attended Mr. Harb’s wedding.

Mr. Harb allegedly showed counterfeit U.S. currency to a witness, and said it had been manufactured in Iran. He said he had deposited $10,000 worth of the phony bills into a Canadian bank account.

Hezbollah is a militant Islamist group that is backed, trained and financed by Iran. It is a banned terrorist group under Canadian law. The Canadian government’s official profile of Hezbollah accuses it of car bombings, hijackings and kidnappings in Western Europe, South America and Israel.

In a speech last month, RCMP Commissioner William Elliott warned that Hezbollah violence could spread to Canada. “While Hezbollah has not articulated any specific grievance with Canada, from its perspective any state that supports Israel or Israeli interests is the enemy, which casts a wide net,” he said.

Charged are: Mr. Harb, Mr. Hodroj, Hasan Antar Karaki, Moussa Ali Hamdan, Hassan El-Najjar, Moustafa Habib Kassem, Latif Kamel Hazime, Alaa Allia Ahmed Mohamed, Maodo Kane and Michael Katz.

Has CAIR Violated the Iranian Assets Control Regulations?

by Frank Gaffney

On November 12 2009, the federal government moved to seize four mosques and a New York City skyscraper owned by the Alavi Foundation, a group allegedly under the direct control of the Iranian government. The following day, the Washington Times exposed the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) for allegedly lobbying on behalf of the Iranian government in violation of the Lobbying Disclosure Act and the Foreign Agents Registration Act. We believe that a third U.S.-based group may be guilty of illegal ties to Iran under the Iranian Assets Control Regulations: the Council On American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

On November 18, 2006 and November 23, 2008, CAIR held their gala annual fundraisers at the Marriott hotel in Arlington, Virginia. We’ve posted previously that the Interests Section of Iran attended both events. Because the U.S. and Iran do not have diplomatic relations, the Interests Section of Iran, sponsored by the Embassy of Pakistan, functions as the defacto embassy representing Iran’s government.

At the 2008 event, we recorded video of Master of Ceremonies and then CAIR-Tampa Executive Director Ahmed Bedier giving personal thanks to “the Interests Section of Iran” for their support:

Here’s more evidence that the “Interests Section of Iran” supported the CAIR fundraiser: the “Thanks to” pages of the 2006 and 2008 printed programs list the “Interests Section of Iran.”

Anne Frank’s diary censored

From The Straits Times

0annefranktb-afp ANNE Frank’s diary has been censored out of a school textbook in Lebanon following a campaign by the militant group Hezbollah which claimed the classic work promotes Zionism.

The controversy erupted after Hezbollah learned that excerpts of The Diary of Anne Frank were included in a textbook used by a private English-language school in western Beirut.

Hezbollah’s Al-Manar television channel ran a report slamming the book for focusing on the persecution of Jews.

‘What is even more dangerous is the dramatic, theatrical way in which the diary is emotionally recounted,’ the report, aired last week, said. It questioned how long Lebanon would ‘remain an open arena for the Zionist invasion of education.’ Read More
