Terrorists Could Use Explosives in Breast Implants to Crash Planes, Experts Warn

FOXNEWS… Female homicide bombers are being fitted with exploding breast implants which are almost impossible to detect, British spies have reportedly discovered.

The shocking new Al Qaeda tactic involves radical doctors inserting the explosives in women’s breasts during plastic surgery — making them “virtually impossible to detect by the usual airport scanning machines.”

It is believed the doctors have been trained at some of Britain’s leading teaching hospitals before returning to their own countries to perform the surgical procedures.

MI5 has also discovered that extremists are inserting the explosives into the buttocks of some male bombers.

“Women suicide bombers recruited by Al Qaeda are known to have had the explosives inserted in their breasts under techniques similar to breast enhancing surgery,” Terrorist expert Joseph Farah claims.

The lethal explosives called PETN are inserted inside plastic shapes during the operation, before the breast is then sewn up.

The discovery of these methods was made after London-educated Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab came close to blowing up an airliner in the U.S. on Christmas Day.

He had stuffed explosives inside his underpants.

Hours after he had failed, Britain’s intelligence services began to pick up “chatter” emanating from Pakistan and Yemen that alerted MI5 to the creation of the lethal implants.

A hand-picked team investigated the threat which was described as “one that can circumvent our defense.”

Top surgeons have confirmed the feasibility of the explosive implants.

Explosive experts allegedly told MI5 that a sachet containing as little as five ounces of PETN could blow “a considerable hole” in an airline’s skin, causing it to crash.

Saudi Arabia detains dozens of ‘al-Qaeda militants’

BBCNEWS… More than 100 suspected militants linked to al-Qaeda have been arrested in Saudi Arabia, officials have said

The interior ministry said 58 Saudis and 55 foreigners in three independent groups were planning to target oil facilities and security forces.

The groups had links to an al-Qaeda affiliate based in neighbouring Yemen, an interior ministry spokesman said.

Analysts say the group, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, has exploited instability in Yemen to set up bases.

A large group of 101 suspects, described as a network, composed of 47 Saudis and others from Yemen, Somalia, Eritrea and Bangladesh was “specialised in targeting security personnel,” interior ministry spokesman Mansour al-Turki said.

Two other groups totalling 12 suspects, described as terrorist cells, were also arrested, he said.

Weapons, cameras, documents and computers were seized with the suspects.

“The network and the two cells were targeting the oil facilities in the Eastern Province and they had plans that were about to be implemented,” Mansour al-Turki said.

“Each cell did not know about the other or their plans,” he added. Continue Reading →

Fear of Iran makes strange bedfellows

(IsraelNN.com) The German news magazine Der Spiegel has reported that Saudi Arabia is hoping Israel will strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, and is even prepared to open its skies to Israeli warplanes to allow such an operation to take place. Similar reports were published in 2009, and denied by both Israel and Saudi Arabia.

The Der Spiegel report stated that officials in Riyadh had spoken to United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about the importance of stopping Iran’s nuclear program, even if doing so requires the use of military force.

The London Sunday Times claimed in 2009 that Saudi Arabia would allow Israel to use its airspace to attack Iran. The paper quoted a former Israeli intelligence officer as saying, “The Saudis are very concerned about an Iranian nuclear bomb, even more than the Israelis.” Continue Reading →

Top terror suspect vanishes from police station

DAILYNATION… A high-level terror suspect arrested by police in Kenya has mysteriously disappeared from custody at a border police station.
The man, who was arrested on March 13, was reported missing at 9 pm on Tuesday last week from Busia police station where he was awaiting further profiling by Anti-Terrorism Police Unit officers from Nairobi.
Three police officers, a sergeant and two constables, have been arrested in connection with the suspect’s disappearance. They are suspected to have accepted cash from the suspect to release him.
Anti-terror detectives identified the man as an operative of the Somalia-based al-Shabaab which has links to the al-Qaeda terror network and had been placed on an international watch list.
The suspect had an Australian passport identifying him as Farah Hussein, but Immigration officers arrested him after suspecting that the document was forged.
Two Busia businessmen were also arrested and charged in court for “aiding a prisoner to escape” as they had visited the man at the station.
The man had $3,400 (Sh258,400) on him when he was arrested just after crossing the Uganda border.
Senior officers dispatched from the Western provincial headquarters to investigate the escape found that the suspect was given “special treatment” while in custody.
And in Lamu, 11 suspected Somali pirates were arrested yesterday after they tried to hijack a fishing vessel in what is believed to be the first incident where pirates have been intercepted by local security personnel.
“It is true, we have arrested 11 suspects believed to be pirates in Kiunga area,” Coast Criminal Investigation Officer Nyagah Reche said.
More than 100 suspected pirates have been arrested by foreign navies in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.

National Post: Exclusive: Former Somali fighter warns of growing radicalism in Canada

TORONTO — Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed works as a security guard at an apartment complex in Toronto’s Little Mogadishu neighborhood. It can be a slow job, sitting at the gatehouse, but nobody could call him inexperienced.

Before he returned to Toronto last year, the 35-year-old Canadian spent six months with the Somali militant group Al-Shabab. He trained at Al-Shabab’s main camp in Mogadishu and guarded the frontlines.

“To us, the local people, they were freedom fighters,” Mr. Mohamed said of Al-Shabab. “They were fighting for our country, they were fighting for the survival of the Somali race, and everyone rallied behind them.”

Vic Toews, the Public Safety Minister, announced last week that the government had added Al-Shabab to Canada’s list of outlawed terrorist organizations. He said the al-Qaeda-linked group was “actively recruiting within the Somali-Canadian community.”

Police and intelligence officials are investigating a half-dozen young Canadians suspected of having joined the militant group. A video posted on the Internet this week claimed one of them, Mohamed Elmi Ibrahim, had died “in battle.”

Mr. Mohamed, who immigrated to Ontario in 1989, is believed to be the first Canadian to speak publicly about his time with Al-Shabab. He told his story to the National Post in exclusive interviews in Mogadishu and Toronto.

Insurgent video shows Toronto student

Mohammed Elmi Ibrahim

Mohammed Elmi Ibrahim

CBC News has confirmed the identity of a Toronto man — believed to have joined an al-Qaeda-linked group in Somalia and killed in battle — on an insurgent group’s online video.

Mohammed Elmi Ibrahim, an English major at the University of Toronto, can be seen on the two-minute, nine-second video made in Saudi Arabia, in which he discusses the historical significance of his location.

According to a message that accompanies the video found on the al-Shabab website, Ibrahim was killed in battle, although his death has not been officially confirmed.

The message with the video, addressed to Canadian youth, says: “Dont be sadden [sic] but rather rejoice in the news of your dear brother and follow his foot steps and march forth in the ranks of the honest mujahideen, al Shabaab mujahideen.”

Ibrahim, who went by the nickname “Canlish” and was in his early 20s, disappeared at least a year ago and is believed to have joined the Somalian insurgent group al-Shabab. The group was recently added to the Canadian government’s terrorist list.

The designation came as members of the Somalian-Canadian community have reported that the group is trying to radicalize and recruit young Canadians.

Ibrahim had gone with a group to make the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca known as hajj. But he did not return with the group, and that’s when his family and intelligence agents in Canada concluded he had gone to fight with al-Shabab.

At least five other young Canadians, who all belonged to the same mosque as Ibrahim and have not been seen since last September, are also believed to have joined al-Shabab.

The American arrested in a sweep of al-Qaeda members worked as a laborer at five nuclear plants in South Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland, federal officials said today.

Sharif Mobley had a “red badge” clearance, the highest level a laborer can obtain, while working on at the Salem-Hope Creek nuclear plants in Salem County, according to a spokesman from the local union of which he was a member.

Sharif was arrested last week with suspected al-Qaeda members in Yemen and officials said he then killed a guard while trying to escape from a hospital. He is under FBI investigation in Delaware. Law enforcement sources have said the investigation is terror-related.

In addition to PSEG’s Salem-Hope Creek plants on Artificial Island, Mobley worked at the Peach Bottom, Limerick and Three Mile Island I plants in Pennsylvania and at Clavert Cliffs in Maryland, according to an e-mail from Neil Sheehan, a spokesman for the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission. France: schoolboy sprays teacher with teargas for describing al-Qaeda as terrorists

French teacher sprayed with tear gas by student after calling al-Qaeda ‘terrorists’

Agence France-Presse Published: Wednesday, March 10, 2010

A 15-year-old French schoolboy sprayed a teacher with tear gas after she described al-Qaeda as a “terrorist group.” “I had just explained that the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, were carried out by the terrorist organization al-Qaeda, as is written in the textbook,” said the history teacher, speaking on condition of anonymity. “He stood up and declared that al-Qaeda is not terrorist and that neither is the Taliban,” she said, adding that the boy then pulled out a spray can and doused her and a teaching assistant with tear gas. Neither victim was seriously hurt. Both staff members, who work in the small school in the central French village of Largentiere, made a criminal complaint against the boy, state prosecutors confirmed. Al-Qaeda, a loose global organization of violent Islamist extremists under the nominal leadership of Osama bin Laden, boasted of carrying out the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington.

Seven Muslims caught plotting death of Swedish Cartoonist

Seven held in Ireland over plot to assassinate cartoonist Lars Vilks

By Sarah Stack, Press Association

Tuesday, 9 March 2010

Seven Muslims were arrested in the Irish Republic today over an alleged plot to assassinate a Swedish cartoonist who depicted the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog, police said.

Al-Qa’ida put a $100,000 bounty on the head of cartoonist Lars Vilks after a newspaper published his cartoon.

The four men and three women were detained after an investigation involving European security agencies and the United States’ CIA and FBI.

Mr Vilks, who lives in an isolated area of Sweden, was put under police protection after threats were made against his life.

When al-Qa’ida put the bounty on the cartoonist’s head in 2007 it offered a 50 per cent bonus if Mr Vilks was “slaughtered like a lamb” by having his throat cut, while another $50,000 was put on the life of Ulf Johansson, editor-in-chief of Nerikes Allehanda, the local newspaper which printed the cartoon.

However those arrested are not believed to be members of the terrorist group.

It understood some have converted to the Muslim faith.

The arrests were made at around 10am as officers conducted a number of raids.

Gardai said the operation was supported by members from National Support Services and the Republic’s anti-terrorist Special Detective Unit.

A Garda spokesman added: “Throughout the investigation An Garda Siochana has been working closely with law enforcement agencies in the United States and in a number of European countries.”

British Jihadis face prison time, home made video was evidence

Well, once again some British Jihadis made a video of themselves firing off guns and crawling around in the park and spliced in pictures of OBL and the usual Muslim imagery and ended up in a British jail. Here is a link to the original video, and below, my own treatment of it. Basically, it is just their video with some added images. I felt it needed the Vlad touch.

From The Times Online:

A home-made film showing two would-be terrorists on military-style manoeuvres crawling across a public park in Blackburn in broad daylight has been played to a jury at Manchester Crown Court.

Abbas Iqbal, 24, his brother Ilyas, 23 and Muhammad Ali Ahmad, a white Muslim convert, were said to be “intoxicated by the evil of terrorism” and planning to carry out jihad, or holy war.

The trio, who styled themselves “The Blackburn Resistance”, were said to have studied guerrilla warfare, gathered a stockpile of weapons and a library of jihadist material. Although some of material was comical, the prosecution has suggested, their purpose was wholly serious.

Edward Brown, QC, for the prosecution, suggested that Abbas Iqbal filmed his brother and Ahmad, 26, in the style of typical al-Qaeda propaganda. Their aim was to distribute the material abroad.

The video apparently shows one of the duo carrying a rifle as they “leopard crawl” through Corporation Park, in the centre of the Lancashire town.

Mr Brown said the “promotional collage” for The Blackburn Resistance was among material which Abbas Iqbal had intended to radicalise others.

The video was introduced by a voice stating “They are fighting against oppression, they are The Blackburn Resistance”, before it showed two of the group crawling through woodland and across a path in the park.

In the background, someone chants: “I am the armour for those who believe in the unity of Allah. I am the fire against the aggressor.

“I am the machinegun against the one who starts fighting. I am the one whose sun is shining. Over my day and my pride.” Video clips of the trio holding and firing weapons while shouting Allah Akbar (God is Great) in a back yard were also found on the storage card, along with photographs of them in camouflaged clothing and carrying weapons.

The Iqbal family home in Blackburn, was later searched. Police discovered a camcorder video tape which showed Abbas Iqbal holding a young boy and raising a machete.

Playing the tape in court, Mr Brown told the jury: “It is plainly a joke and he obviously has no intention of hurting the boy.” The boy, aged about eight, is on camera in a room with two girls as Abbas Iqbal holds the weapon and, in Urdu, says: “This is what I am going to do to somebody. God willing, when I find a Kuffar (non-believer), this I show, I am going to take his head off.” Mr Brown said that the material was discovered in Abbas’ suitcase when he was arrested at Manchester airport in August 2008, en route to northern Europe with another alleged extremist, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Later Mr Ahmad told police that the video was “just a bit of fun”.

New York City Terrorism Suspect to Plead Guilty

FOXNEWS… The key suspect in an alleged plot to attack New York City with homemade bombs has begun cooperating with investigators and is preparing to enter a guilty plea, Fox News has confirmed.

Najibullah Zazi, 24, has begun talking to authorities and plans a guilty plea that could come as early as Monday, according to law enforcement officials speaking on condition of anonymity.

As important as a plea would be, Zazi may be far more valuable to investigators as a source for information about co-conspirators in the United States and Pakistan.

Three people with inside knowledge of the investigation confirmed that the jailed Zazi recently volunteered information about the alleged bomb plot during a meeting with his attorney and federal prosecutors in Brooklyn. The sit-down, known as a proffer session, typically signals that a defendant has begun cooperating in a bid for a plea deal.

Zazi — accused of receiving explosives training in an Al Qaeda terrorism camp in Pakistan — told prosecutors that he was armed with bomb-making components while en route to New York City last year, but flushed them down the toilet in a New York City apartment after getting spooked by a traffic stop on the George Washington Bridge while entering the city, the people said.

Zazi had driven a rented car from Denver to New York, arriving Sept. 10, 2009, the day before the eighth anniversary of the 2001 attacks.

He was allowed to go free after what was described as a routine traffic stop on the bridge, which connects New Jersey and New York. Authorities days later raided several Queens apartments, including a friend’s home where Zazi had stayed.

The government alleges that the airport driver and others bought beauty supplies in Colorado to make peroxide-based bombs before he tried to mix the explosives in a hotel room there, then set out cross-country by car in September. Searches of his car after he arrived turned up bomb-making plans on a laptop computer, but no actual devices or materials.

The cooperation by Zazi suggests prosecutors hope to expand the case and bring charges against other suspects in his case and possibly other terrorism probes. At the time of Zazi’s arrest, Attorney General Eric Holder called the case the most serious terrorism threat since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Continue Reading →
