Russia: Explosion At Nightclub Kills More Than 70

An explosion at a nightclub in Perm, Russia, has left at least 76 people dead, Sky News reported Dec. 4. Other reports indicate the explosion was at a cafe. A regional Emergency Situations Ministry spokeswoman confirmed that there were injuries after the blast. Local police told RIA Novosti that the explosion occurred at 11:15 p.m. local time and that no fire followed the explosion.

At least 100 people have been killed in an explosion at a nightclub in Russia, reports say.
Explosion in Perm, about 700 miles from Moscow
News agencies quoted police as saying the blast had been caused by firecrackers.
Around 60 others are thought to have been hurt in the explosion in the city of Perm, about 700 miles east of the capital Moscow.
It rocked the nightclub where around 200 people were inside, police reportedly said
Earlier reports said 15 people had been killed and another 60 were injured.
“The explosion occurred in the Lame Horse bar in Perm,” Interfax news agency quoted a police official as saying.
A spokeswoman for the regional Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed that there were injuries.
But she did not give the number of casualties.

Meanwhile, a Muslim woman is charging someone in the US with a hate crime because someone tugged at her headscarf. The Headscarf was taken to the linen hospital where it received the best possible attention and is out now but is under close observation. Seems like Muslims have murdered over 150 people in Russia alone this week though. Of course the real crime, was someone tugged a scarf in the US at a supermarket.
“Pulling a woman’s head scarf is clearly a hate crime and should therefore be investigated as such,” said Christina Abraham, the Chicago civil rights director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Good to see CAIR has its priorities in order. Wouldn’t want to see them try and stop Muslims world wide from trying to kill everyone all over the place. Clearly they are needed to protect bits of cloth in the USA.
Dec 5 8:33 AM it would appear at this moment that the deaths and injuries at this club were the result of a pyrotechnical error, very similar to what happened some years ago at a New York club with the band ‘White Snake’. However I did not rush to report this last night as the train bombing in Russia was first reported as “a domestic anti immigration group”. So I didn’t feel it was necessary to put every report of cause in as political correctness was invented by Russians after all. In any case at this time it does appear to have been a tragedy rather than an emergency to quote stratfor.

CBC NEWS… A North Caucasus Muslim rebel group has claimed responsibility for last week’s Russian train bombing that killed 26 people, according to a website sympathetic to the militants.
The claim on the Kavkazcenter.com site said last Friday’s attack was carried out on behalf of Doku Umarov, a Chechen separatist considered the leader of the Muslim extremist insurgency in the North Caucasus.
“We declare that this operation was prepared and carried out … pursuant to the order of the Emir of Caucasus Emirate,” or Umarov, the statement on the website said.
The website has previously published statements by North Caucasus groups claiming responsibility for attacks that were later confirmed.
Umarov is one of Russia’s most wanted rebels, and is thought to head a network of separatist cells across the mainly Muslim North Caucasus region. He has said he is fighting to expel Russia from the region and create an Islamic emirate.
Russian authorities characterized last week’s attack as a terrorist attack but have not made any arrests. Police on Monday released a computerized sketch of a suspect.
Alexander Bastrykin, the country’s top investigator, said in comments published on Wednesday in state newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta that the bombing bore the hallmarks of southern separatists.
Authorities said they found evidence that a bomb caused three carriages of the 14-car Nevsky Express, travelling from Moscow to St. Petersburg, to career off the tracks Friday night as the train approached speeds of 200 km/h in a rural area.
Government officials were among the 26 people killed in the attack, and scores were injured.
It was the second attack on the train line in two years. A 2007 blast injured dozens but was not fatal.

Islamists from the North Caucasus claimed responsibility for the bombing of a Russian passenger train, AFP reported Dec. 2. A website statement announced that the operation was prepared and executed along with other acts of sabotage on the orders of Caucasus Emir Dokku Umarov. The statement said the operation was planned at the start of the year and successfully carried out against a set of strategically important sites in Russia.

UGLOVKA, Russia — Russia’s domestic intelligence service on Saturday said a train disaster that killed dozens and injured nearly 100 was caused by a bomb.
The Nevsky Express, carrying 682 passengers and 29 crew, was derailed on Friday night on the main line between Moscow and Russia’s second city, St Petersburg.
“Criminal experts say that based on preliminary findings a bomb equivalent to 7kg of TNT was detonated,” Alexander Bortnikov, the head of the FSB domestic intelligence service, told President Dmitry Medvedev in a televised meeting.
Russian detectives said they had found fragments of what they believed was a bomb and said they had opened a criminal case on charges of terrorism. No one has so far publicly claimed responsibility for the suspected attack.
The derailment is Russia’s most deadly train disaster for years and could raise fears of a surge in attacks on the Russian heartland by rebels from the turbulent North Caucasus.
Russia’s Emergency Ministry said at least 26 people had been confirmed as dead with another 18 missing, though one rescue official earlier put the death toll as high as 39. The ministry said 96 people had been injured.
The Nevsky Express was derailed at 9:34 p.m. (1834 GMT) on Friday near the village of Uglovka about 350 km (200 miles) north of Moscow.
A Reuters photographer saw soldiers carrying four body bags away from the scene where rescue workers cut through the tangled steel to search for survivors in two wrecked train carriages.
MOSCOW — The Rev. Daniil Sysoyev, a priest in the Russian Orthodox Church who was known for promoting missionary work among Muslims, was shot and killed in his parish church late Thursday night, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
Father Sysoyev, 35, died at a Moscow hospital of gunshot wounds to the head and chest, RIA Novosti said. The Web site of the Moscow patriarchate confirmed his death. The parish’s choir director was wounded in the shootings at the Church of St. Thomas by the unidentified assailant.

It’s wonderful to see Iran threaten Russia like this. Last I checked, Putin wasn’t doing the world wide obsequious tour that Obama is. I doubt they have any of the same constraints on them the US and the west have in terms of foreign policy. What a sad day when a Canadian has to look to Russia to help put a savage irrational theocratic dictator in it’s place for general world security. Let’s hope Russia takes this sort of language the way we wish Western nations would.
Iran: Russia Should Fulfill Commitment On S-300s

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chair of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, said Nov. 14 that Russia should follow through on its commitment to deliver S-300 air defense systems to Iran, Mehr News Agency reported. Boroujerdi said that Iran is “not a country which would stop short of action in dealing with countries who fail to deliver on their promises.” Boroujerdi also said that Iran will be able to produce its own air defense systems in the future, but that Russia’s delivery of the systems could help further future cooperation.

FOXNEWS… MOSCOW — A leading Russian newspaper is citing a top security official as saying Russia is reserving the right to carry out pre-emptive nuclear strikes to safeguard the country in the modern age.Security Council chief Nikolai Patrushev says in Wednesday’s Izvestia interview that a sweeping document on military policy will be handed to President Dmitry Medvedev before year-end.
Military analysts say Patrushev is muscle-flexing because what he reveals about the proposed new doctrine suggests it differs little from the current one.
Patrushev says the new rules will allow a “flexible and timely” reaction to conflict situations.
In the same interview he singles out NATO and the United States as threats, and names Russia’s troubled North Caucasus region as an internal danger.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Thursday said his country has recognized the independence of Georgian separatist regions South Ossetia and Abkhazia in a boost to Russia, which had been almost alone in recognizing them.
Russia recognized the two regions as independent shortly after driving Georgian forces out of them in last year’s war. But only Nicaragua had followed suit, a tacit slap by the international community and an embarrassment to Moscow’s contentions that it was bringing stability to the regions rather than occupying them. Five years ago Muslim extremists invaded a school in Beslan, Russia. These Muslim terrorists held over a thousand people, most of them children, hostage. For three days these Muslim terrorists killed and tortured countless victims. The ways in which they were treated I will abbreviate . Children were shot for crying. Teachers and parents were shot for trying to calm the hostages. Young girls were gang raped. Young girls were raped with gun barrels and other objects. Many young girls did not survive these rapes. Children were forced to drink their own urine before being executed. The list of inhuman acts committed by these Muslim animals is as nothing I have ever heard before.
Now to the reason I have titled this “Muslims had nothing to do with Beslan massacre”.
Today I wanted to post something in the memory of the poor souls murdered in Beslan, so I started looking for a nice story already written and spell checked that I might copy and paste here. What I found disturbed me. Both BBC and SKY NEWS have stories about the five years after the event in Beslan. Neither story mentions Muslims or Islam. The British news is perverting history by not mentioning the identities of the attackers. It’s hard to believe that with Beslan on my mind today that I could find something in the news that would cause me disgust.
