IRISH FILM MAKER HAS SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT STRICT ALLEGIANCE TO PALESTINIAN CAUSE

Couple the clampdown on free speech in which only the views from one side of the debate are ever heard, and the complete brainwashing of society with that one sided view, and you’ll have an Ireland completely at odds with Jewish self determination and the right to defend itself.

Here’s a film maker who has chosen to walk a lonely path in Ireland’s artist community, due to his awakening to the truth behind the Arabs’ conflict with Israel, which speaks greatly of his courage and moral compass. He’s been confronted with a reality that runs counter to the one carefully prepared for him by his peers and society at large.

Nicky Larkin not only challenges himself, but his countrymen as well, by sharing this completely different Irish perspective on the conflict. It’s a perspective rarely discussed in Ireland, let alone mulled over, which speaks greatly of the vice-grip hold anti-Israel forces have on that society. Larkin’s efforts offer a ray of hope that rational and reasonable debate on the conflict is indeed possible in Ireland, lets hope that his colleagues take up the challenge.

Nicky Larkin: Israel is a refuge, but a refuge under siege

Through making a film about the Israeli-Arab conflict, artist Nicky Larkin found his allegiances swaying

I used to hate Israel. I used to think the Left was always right. Not any more. Now I loathe Palestinian terrorists. Now I see why Israel has to be hard. Now I see the Left can be Right — as in right-wing. So why did I change my mind so completely?

Strangely, it began with my anger at Israel’s incursion into Gaza in December 2008 which left over 1,200 Palestinians dead, compared to only 13 Israelis. I was so angered by this massacre I posed in the striped scarf of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation for an art show catalogue.

Shortly after posing in that PLO scarf, I applied for funding from the Irish Arts Council to make a film in Israel and Palestine. I wanted to talk to these soldiers, to challenge their actions — and challenge the Israeli citizens who supported them.

I spent seven weeks in the area, dividing my time evenly between Israel and the West Bank. I started in Israel. The locals were suspicious. We were Irish — from a country which is one of Israel’s chief critics — and we were filmmakers. We were the enemy.

CONOR LALLY and GERRY MORIARTY

A Turkish youth is expected to be formally charged with the double murder of two Irish women in western Turkey on Thursday night.

Marion Graham and Kathy Dinsmore were found stabbed to death in a wooded area off a road near the port city of Izmir.

The dead women were both 54 years old and from the Newry area of Co Down. Both were travelling on Irish passports.

The killings followed Ms Graham’s attempts to prevent her daughter Shannon from marrying a 17-year-old youth she had met in the country.

The youth was detained by police yesterday, and is the only suspect for the double murder. His father and a local taxi driver were also helping police with their inquiries.

The suspect yesterday appeared at a preliminary hearing in Turkey and charges are expected to follow. A spokeswoman for Department of Foreign Affairs said today no plans have yet been made as to when the bodies of the two women will be brought home. Continue Reading →

VIOLENCE IN CITY: Rampage in Temple Bar area

Thursday July 07 2011

A MOB went on a wave of random race violence on Temple Bar, which left five Dubliners with horrific injuries.

One man — a Dublin DJ — was almost killed in the attack as he suffered serious head injuries when he was set upon by the gang.

The level of violence has shocked gardai and the many witnesses to the race hate orgy — believed to be the first of its kind in the city.

One member of the African gang was arrested today in pre-dawn raids by detectives across the capital.

Five Dubliners, all aged in their 20s, were left with horrific injuries in the October 2010 attacks, which have only come to light now.

Shocked

The gang — all aged in their late teens — savagely attacked six Irish people in the Temple Bar area of the capital in the early hours of October 10 last.

The gang, who are heavily involved in other street robberies and beatings, are all expected to appear in court.

Sources say that even seasoned detectives were left “horrified and shocked” by the extreme level of violence used in the attacks which occurred in the Eustace Street and Curved Street areas of Temple Bar at around 3.30am on the date in question.

A senior source explained: “We believe that what happened on the night was motivated by racism — that is racism against white people.

Now might be a good time to short-sell the Euro

Here are a couple of items on the likely collapse of the Euro and the EU. The upside, its likely short term pain for long term gain, while the continued existence of the Eurozone as it is, long term pain, loss of freedoms and increased totalitarianism to manage impossible Soviet style economic planning.

Kevin Myers: Muslim girls are covertly prepared for forced marriage. Yet the feminists stay silent

By Kevin Myers

Thursday January 06 2011

YOU really can take your pick from the interconnected headlines of the past fortnight: the church-massacres of Christians in Egypt and Iraq by al-Qa’ida, and the murder of the governor of the Punjab, followed by a petition of support for his killer from 500 “moderate” Islamic scholars in Pakistan.

Closer to home there were the terrorist conspiracies in Denmark, Sweden and Britain, and the revelation that while the Christian population in Britain fell by two million in four years, the Muslim population there increased by 74pc to 2.9 million since 2001 (yes, the very year when Islamophobia supposedly became endemic).

But surely the most pathetic headline of all was the one announcing the Greek government’s decision to build a 128-mile wall to keep out “illegal immigrants”.

What a treasury of intellectual dishonesty and cultural cowardice is embodied in that term “illegal immigrant”. For if Greece had a border with Germany, would it erect a barrier to keep illegal Germans out? Or English? Or Swedes? Unlikely somehow.

For some immigrants are more immigrant than others. What the Greeks are keeping out are their old friends from Anatolia, with whom they have been conducting a racial, religious and cultural struggle for over a thousand years. These used to be called Mussulman and later Ottoman and later still Turkish. Now they’re called “illegal immigrants”, in a nice congenial pretence that the illegal immigrant in Thessaloniki is much the same as the illegal immigrant in Arizona.

Which is certainly true, to a degree. The opening decade of the 21st Century has seen the clarification of the divide between Birth Control societies and those where Nature Inevitably Takes Its Course. The BC societies of the USA and the EU are facing increasing pressure to take in the population increases from NITIC countries along their southern borders: African countries double their population every 25 years, whereas Europe’s population has gone up by 50pc in 90 years.

This is unquestionably a major issue for western (once-Christian) civilisations: how many immigrants should they admit? The even more important issue, concealed in the Greek government’s wall-plan, is this: how many Muslim immigrants can any society take, and yet retain the qualities that made it attractive to Muslims in the first place?

Now aside from “refugees” from one Muslim country to its neighbour, there’s little sign of mass-population movement from one Islamic country to another. Bangladeshis, Pakistanis. Afghans, Somalis, may operate as guest workers in Saudi Arabia, where they have no rights, but if they seek a brighter economic future, they move their families to the Christian/secular countries of Greater Europe, which includes North America and Australasia.

And of course, if the immigrants then conform with local norms — as British Hindus and Sikhs have usually done — then there is usually no long-term problem. The result is a cultural enrichment and fusion in which everyone gains.

This is simply not true of Muslim immigration. Not merely is there not a single stable, prosperous Muslim democracy in the world, free of terrorism and fundamentalism, there is no society that has received large numbers of Muslims that has not soon been confronted by an Islamic defiance of existing societal norms. This defiance can be cultural, in which dissident dress code is sought as a religious right; or educational, in which Muslims are raised within their own autonomous school system; or legal, with a demand for Sharia law; or insurrectionary, in which local Muslims opt for terrorist jihad against the state which admitted them.

No European country — not one — that has admitted large numbers of Muslims has been spared any of these outcomes.

No European country — not one — that has admitted Hindus has had to face any comparable problem. Continue Reading →

Ireland’s Catholic schools ban full Muslim veil

Roman Catholic secondary schools in Ireland have imposed a ban on Muslim girls covering their faces with a full veil.

Teachers have been told in guidelines that Muslims would not be permitted to wear the niqab, the garment covering the entire body except for slits across the eyes. The guidance, circulated in Ireland by bishops among more than 450 schools this week, said that although staff should respect the religious rights of non-Catholics, it was “unsatisfactory for a teacher not to be able to see and engage properly with a pupil whose face was covered”.

“No pupil or staff member should be prevented from wearing a religious symbol or garment in accordance with their tradition, for example, the hijab [headscarf] for Muslim girls and the turban for Sikh boys,” said the document called “Guidelines on the Inclusion of Students of Other Faiths in Catholic Secondary Schools”.

Islamic extremist chosen to head police-Muslim forum

H/T Snaphanen

From The Irish Sun:

Irish Sun
Sunday 25th July, 2010
(ANI)

An Islamic extremist, who has described al-Qaeda as a “myth” and justified the killing of British troops in Iraq, has been chosen to head the Muslim Safety Forum (MSF), which is recognised by London’s Metropolitan Police as “the principal body in relation to Muslim community safety and security”.

Azad Ali was the founding chair of the MSF in 2006, but left that job in 2008 and resigned entirely from the group last year after publicity over his extremist comments.

Last week, he was quietly reappointed as its chairman.

Mr Ali is a senior official of the fundamentalist Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE), which works, in its own words, to create an Islamic state under sharia law in Europe.

The IFE and the MSF share the same offices.

He has previously praised a key mentor of Osama bin Laden.

Ali’s comments about terrorism were made on his official blog on the IFE website.

Patrick Mercer, a Conservative MP and counter-terrorism expert, said: “It beats me why the police should want to take the advice of this man. They should have nothing to do with him. I know for a fact that there are just as knowledgeable members of the Muslim community who do not share his subversive views.” (ANI)

This week’s “Tales from the ‘Freedom’ Files”

This week’s stories remind us once again of how ‘old fashioned’, rational thought is being replaced by ‘progressive’, irrational ideology. The Loony Left in its mission to create a better, more thoughtful world continues to cast aside what they consider the useless notions of public consultation, debate and majority consent in favour of their gentler, wiser, dictatorial approach. Initially we at vladtepesblog were reluctant to post these stories, as we felt they may provide more data for the social engineers of our cities to expand their role of government interference in our personal choices and anything else enjoyable. Quickly concluding they will rail on regardless, we got over it. Enjoy.

#1 From Spain  Animal Rights Groups Condemn Bullfighting in Film. Animal right’s activists are urging cinema goers to boycott the new film Manolete accusing the picture of glamorizing the role of the matador. Alliance Anticorrida, a French anti-bullfighting group, has sent a message to it’s 20,000 members urging them to avoid the film stating, “it is inadmissible to release a film in which the hero is a matador”. The joint British-Spanish production follows the life and death of Manolete, the legendary bullfighter. The film’s producers have tried to reassure activists that the story is about love, not killing, but their claim has fallen on deaf ears. It is worth mentioning that no real bulls were used during production.

#2 From England  Council Set to Ban Word ‘Obesity’. Liverpool City Council believes the word ‘obese’ could stigmatize youngsters and wants to replace the word with ‘unhealthy weight’. In a bid to avoid offending overweight children, the words obese and obesity would be dropped from all schemes and strategies aimed at improving children’s diets and health. But the plan is opposed by anti-obesity campaigners who feel that although the word carries a negative connotation, it could prove useful in addressing the seriousness of the problem. Tam Fry, chair of the obesity prevention charity Child Growth Foundation, maintains that school children must be taught the realities of life, stating, ” if your obese, you’re obese”.

#3 From Canada  Noise Violations May Prompt Fines. Ottawa City Council’s Community and Protective Services Committee has approved a proposal by councilor George Bedard which would see charges and fines levied against the hosts of loud parties. Councilor Bedard said that the city’s current way of handling noise complaints is ‘ineffective’, stressing ” we need to address this in a more efficient manner”. As it stands, staff who receive a complaint are directed to phone the residence and ask that the noise stop, usually ending the problem. Despite this, legal officials and police will be consulted and staff will report on their recommendations including possible noise bylaw amendments which would see hosts or their landlords who partake in or allow ‘noisy’ parties charged and/or fined. (Good thing Bluesfest has moved out of Bedard’s neighbourhood).

#4 From The U.K. Butcher Banned From Using Knives. A Sainsbury’s customer was stunned to learn that his butcher has been banned from de-boning a joint of lamb in case he cuts himself using a knife. Despite the fact that the butcher has been successfully chopping meat for 30 years and teaches young colleagues the art of meat dressing, he is forbidden from cutting lamb joints for his ‘own safety’. The embarrassed butcher said he simply couldn’t do it as he was not insured. A spokesman for Sainsbury’s market said ” Our colleagues who work on the meat counters are trained to use knives, but some have not received all the training to safely de-bone a lamb joint”.

#5 From The U.K. Great Grandmother Banned From Eating Cookie in Shop. An 86 year old great grandmother was threatened with security and banned by Marks and Spencer staff from eating a cookie inside their shop. Thelma Williams was confronted by security guards after she was caught eating a chocolate chip biscuit which she had purchased earlier from the store’s food section. Staff informed Mrs. Williams that she was not allowed to eat food bought outside the cafe, even if it was bought from the store with one employee telling her ” you’ve got to put that cookie away now or you might expect a heavy fine”.

Mrs Williams wanted to enjoy one of her biscuits with her tea after having lunch in the M&S cafe Chocolate chip cookies: Mrs Williams wanted to enjoy one of her biscuits with her tea after having lunch in the M&S cafe.

*** and the story we almost forgot….****

From Northern Ireland.  Green Party Plans to Ban Fox Hunting. The Green Party of Northern Ireland is poised to introduce a bill that would put an end to fox and stag hunting along with hare coursing. A key principle of the Green Party Northern Ireland states that ” the impact of society on the environment should not be ecologically disruptive”.  GPNI assembly member Brian Wilson said ” Legislation banning the hunt of wild mammals with dogs already exists in England, Wales and Scotland, so this bill will bring Northern Ireland in line with the rest of the U.K.”. A group known as Rural Ireland Says Enough (RISE) opposes the plan and led a 5,000 person strong protest through Waterford, fronted by six riders on horseback. A constitutional challenge to the controversial Hunting Act (2004) has already been dismissed by the courts. Similar legislation deeply polarized rural and urban Britain, prompting impassioned demonstrations on both sides of the debate with both continuing to be at odds.

An Irish Islamic website which argues for the introduction of “Sharia” law in Ireland had nearly 270,000 hits last month alone.

The site is targeted at what it calls Irish “O’Muslims,” the Muslim Public Affairs Council website, www.mpac.ie.

Sharia refers to the “way” Muslims should live or the “path” they must follow. Sharia is derived from the sacred text of Islam (the Koran) and traditions gathered from the life of the Islamic prophet Mohammed. Sharia deals with many aspects of life, including crime, politics, economics, banking, business, contracts, family, sexuality, hygiene, and social issues.

Seven Muslims caught plotting death of Swedish Cartoonist

Seven held in Ireland over plot to assassinate cartoonist Lars Vilks

By Sarah Stack, Press Association

Tuesday, 9 March 2010

Seven Muslims were arrested in the Irish Republic today over an alleged plot to assassinate a Swedish cartoonist who depicted the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog, police said.

Al-Qa’ida put a $100,000 bounty on the head of cartoonist Lars Vilks after a newspaper published his cartoon.

The four men and three women were detained after an investigation involving European security agencies and the United States’ CIA and FBI.

Mr Vilks, who lives in an isolated area of Sweden, was put under police protection after threats were made against his life.

When al-Qa’ida put the bounty on the cartoonist’s head in 2007 it offered a 50 per cent bonus if Mr Vilks was “slaughtered like a lamb” by having his throat cut, while another $50,000 was put on the life of Ulf Johansson, editor-in-chief of Nerikes Allehanda, the local newspaper which printed the cartoon.

However those arrested are not believed to be members of the terrorist group.

It understood some have converted to the Muslim faith.

The arrests were made at around 10am as officers conducted a number of raids.

Gardai said the operation was supported by members from National Support Services and the Republic’s anti-terrorist Special Detective Unit.

A Garda spokesman added: “Throughout the investigation An Garda Siochana has been working closely with law enforcement agencies in the United States and in a number of European countries.”

Muslim man demands right to bring second wife to Ireland

A Muslim man has gone to the High Court in Ireland demanding that he be allowed bring in his second wife to Ireland.

The native of Lebanon, where polygamy is allowed, says his polygamous marriage must be recognized.

Liam Egan, a member of the Muslim Public Affairs Congress, told the Irish Sunday Times the man was being discriminated against unfairly. “It is draconian to treat this family differently,” said Egan.

“Ireland discriminates against Muslims seeking citizenship by asking them to sign an affidavit. The state should not be interfering in families like this. It is silent on adulterous affairs but the moment you try and do something honourable by bringing a woman into a marriage, even a polygamous marriage, there is an issue.”

The man first entered Ireland some years ago and claimed political asylum which was granted. It is believed there are numerous other cases involving second or even more wives awaiting the court’s verdict. British law allows only one wife to legally emigrate.

Liam Egan says the Koran allows Muslims to marry and “love each of them equally.” The Immigrant Council of Ireland says the case highlights the need for the government to deal fairly with the issue.

Irish news on the blasphemy law

First, thank you to Wellboy films for this tip.

It is interesting which religion actually utters a threat about any potential blasphemy. Interesting but not a surprise.

Notice the church actually has a pretty enlightened view on this law, as well as hate speech laws. It is noteworthy that the government of Pakistan has used the Irish law as a sort of a template for it’s own suppression of criticism of religion for UN resolutions.

Here is part II of this same report. By the way, for those of you who do not already know of it, there are some scenes taken from a perfectly charming Irish TV show called, ‘Father Ted’. If you take nothing else from this report do try and watch a few episodes of that. Especially ‘Speed’ and ‘Are You Right There Father Ted’.

Ireland’s new blasphemy law being copied by Pakistan

Thanks Sean for this.

From Mr. Obrien’s Thinking Emporium

Ireland’s new blasphemy law – which was passed in July 2009 – came into force four days ago on 1 January 2010. It makes blasphemy a crime punishable by a fine of up to €25,000. It has been the subject of some controversy, to say the least. I’m not going to delve into the whole debate here except to say my position on the law is that I’m agin it. The subject of this post is a couple of interesting comments that appeared on this thread at Politics.ie.

‘FutureTaoiseach’ voices a suspicion about the new blasphemy law, which is similar to comments I had made earlier in the same thread:

The radical Islamists want it [the law]. The govt is concerned about a Danish-style cartoon row blowing up in this country. At the UN, Islamic countries are pushing for a global ban on blasphemy.

To which ‘Half Nelson’ helpfully replies:

Statute
For the purposes of this section, a person publishes or utters blasphemous matter if he or she publishes or utters matter that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion.

Pakistan’s Submission to UN
State parties shall prohibit by law the uttering of matters that are grossly abusive or insulting to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion (p11.1)

Somebody is watching us.

Indeed. When one of the most illiberal police states in the world is plagirising your country’s laws in order to further its global theocratic agenda, that may be a sign that you’re doing it wrong.
