The thing that is rotten in Denmark, has now broken the surface

From Gates of Vienna:

Crackdown on Islam-Critics in Denmark

I woke up this morning to find this comment by a Dane posted on last night’s news feed:

I thought you may want to know; not sure where to post this, so here it is anyway: This morning, Steen from “Snaphanen” in Copenhagen, Denmark was picked up by six police officers and taken in for questioning in handcuffs, and his computers, hard drives etc. seized. Allegedly for linking to links from other links to links eventually leading to a video of a beheading.

Shakespeare was right. There IS something rotten in the state of Denmark.

I took a quick look at Steen’s Steen’s blog. He has posted — using a borrowed computer — about what happened. He’s not the only one who was rounded up this morning; evidently this was a big day for cracking down on “Islamophobes” in Denmark.

In Denmark! I thought Denmark was different, but evidently not.

This is the closest to home the repression has hit. Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff was prosecuted and convicted, but she was never arrested, nor did she have her computers seized. This is the first time a good friend of mine has been handcuffed and taken away to help police with their enquiries.

I spent many enjoyable hours in Steen’s company on several occasions a few years ago. He put me up in his apartment and introduced me to a number of Danish dissidents, including Lars Hedegaard. Steen is a superb photographer — that was his primary pursuit before he took up Islamophobia. He took the photo at the top of this post in happier days, when I was in Denmark back in 2009, enjoying a meal at a restaurant with a group of Scandinavian dissidents. You can see me sitting at the far end of the table.

Germany: Enforced arrest for radio licence fees — woman behind bars because of just under 280 euros

An original translation from Oz-Rita with many thanks

From Deutsch RT:

Germany

Although the ARD itself considers the use of force in connection with broadcasting fees to be inappropriate, yet another woman landed in prison in North Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday. Sylvia Schulte and her husband do not want to pay any flat-rate radio fee

It is not the first time that a citizen in Germany has ended up behind bars for small sums he refuses to pay for an unused service. And this despite the fact that the ARD itself considers the compulsory nature in connection with the radio report to be inappropriate.

Sylvia Schulte from Wuppertal was first taken to the Wuppertal prison. However, as this is a males-only prison, she was then taken to Cologne-Ossendorf, which her husband learned about only later, as he told RT Deutsch by telephone on request.

The offence committed by the 41-year-old housewife: For about four years Schulte has refused to pay the fees to the contribution service, which collects the radio fee for ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio. According to the freshly signed arrest warrant, the sum amounted to just 277.62 euros.

This picture above ^^^ is the copy of the “Haftbefehl” which translates into: “WARRANT OF ARREST”.

As reason for the refusal her husband gives above all the flat-rate form of the contribution to RT Deutsch. In his opinion, an appropriate form for the fees would be, for example, a model similar to that of pay stations, for which the viewer pays according to use. However, he points to the low quality of the offer in his opinion and believes that the public broadcasters would then hardly generate any revenue.

Sylvia Schulte had not received any reminder notices; there was only a notice of determination. The city of Wuppertal was to take over the case, but the deadline had already expired when an employee visited. The city’s high court bailiff then intervened and eventually signed the arrest warrant issued in April.

The Schultes are not surprised. For this was not the first case of imprisonment for refusing to pay radio licence fees; they had experienced a treatment similar to that of Sieglinde Baumert. In 2016 the woman from Chemnitz had to serve 61 days in prison because she had not paid any contributions.

After the case led to a lot of public criticism, Karola Wille, then president of ARD, said that compulsory imprisonment was disproportionate. However, this decision is not made by a broadcaster, but by the relevant authorities of the respective state. According to a press spokesman of the Ministry of Justice, a prison stay costs around 130 euros per day.

For the Schultes one thing now remains: to raise the money as quickly as possible from somewhere, preferably by Thursday. Only then can they deal with the numerous details, such as procedural errors in the entry in the debtors’ register.

[Editor]

1: ARD is a far left wing government propaganda network.

2: I bet no muslims pay this fee, and no muslims have ever been jailed for not paying it.

3: Employees of this TV station should be taken to court on extortion charges under these conditions. At least in the UK if you do not watch the BBC, you do not have to pay the fee.

French Journalist repeatedly arrested for real reporting on the Yellow Vest Protests

Remember this clip from March 2019?

Te video below is an interview with the journalist who took that footage above, an was jailed for it. He has been jailed repeatedly by the French sate for doing his duty to democracy.

Error: He was jailed as he explained in the interview, for flipping the bird to the police after they shot him with a ‘grenade’.

Gaspard Glanz being arrested on April 20 2019 in Paris

For the 3rd time it seems necessary to post the Lara Logan clip:

Thank you Ava Lon for the work that went into this.

“All options on table in Venezuela”

A brutal irony: UK PM May, says “arrest of Assange proof no one is above the law”

Let us be perfectly perfectly clear here:

The life’s work of Julian Assange was to try and show how in fact all the elites were living and acting with perfect impunity from the law. The arrest and silencing of Assange is to make sure they can continue to do so. Wouldn’t we all love to know what Wikileaks had on the way May and her cohorts cheated the BREXIT process. And the secret dealings of the EU?

That, would be grounds for a highly justifiable revolution should the public ever be allowed to know how manipulated, deceived cheated and plotted against they are by these supranational orgs.

His name was Seth Rich.

UPDATE:

There are already worthy and interesting comments questioning the label we might apply, or how we may think of Assange.

I don’t want to suggest how we should think of him. But I do think we should temper our decision based on some of the information that Lara Logan gives in this astonishing interview with mark Levine.

This isn’t verbatim as I saw this part days ago. But she said one thing that really got to me:

Quoting someone else, Gary Webb I think…

“…I realized that I did not get the Pulitzer Prize and do all these speaking tours because I am so great or my work is so profound, but because I never wrote anything good enough to be worth supressing”.

And THAT, is why I admire Mr. Assange.

(If anyone chooses to watch this interview and transcribe the quote accurately in the comments, I will replace it with the accurate one. But I think I caught the spirit of her remark. Its in the first 1/3 of the interview.)

Update on the War in Gaza

From Gates of Vienna:

Our Israeli correspondent MC sends the latest news from Sderot:

Although you may be reading in the news about a ‘peace deal’, the reality on the ground is different.

The past three days have seen sporadic shelling and bombing (outgoing), with continued kite and balloon attacks.

Tonight we are hearing artillery and gunfire with aircraft etc.

The area has all the signs of a military campaign in the making. We passed a field full of tanks coming in from Ashkelon today. Given that it is Shabbat, this is serious. Normally things stop at sunset on Friday, but not tonight. Expect some move soon.

It appears that Hamas’ control may not have be as complete as they would have us believe, and that a faction in Gaza is trying to provoke instability.

For those who are interested, here’s the story from Arutz Sheva on the “peace deal”:
