Internet company pulls plug on extremist’s websites

TORONTO — A U.S. Internet company pulled the plug on the websites of a Canadian extremist today after receiving a complaint from Canada’s Attorney-General.
One of the websites taken down by Arizona-based web host Go Daddy had been used by Salman Hossain of Mississauga to call for a genocide of the Jewish community.
The other was a new site that was not yet on-line.
“Go Daddy received a complaint from Canada’s Attorney-General regarding the domain names in question,” said Ben Butler, the company’s Director of Network Abuse.
“After reviewing the content on the sites, Go Daddy determined they are in direct violation of our terms of service and have been removed from our network.” Continue Reading →

‘Netherlands Subsidising Mosque by Ground Zero’
AMSTERDAM, 21/07/10 – The Party for Freedom (PVV) is demanding clarification by the Dutch government regarding reports that the Netherlands is co-financing the construction of a mosque a stone’s throw away from Ground Zero in New York with 1 million dollars of Dutch taxpayers’ money.
On the foreign ministry’s website, it says that a subsidy of 1 million dollars has been awarded to the American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA). This organisation is, in partnership with the Islamic organisation Cordoba Initiative, responsible for the Islamic centre including a mosque, costing 100 million dollars, to be built near Ground Zero.
The PVV is demanding an explanation and terms the plans to build a mosque right next to Ground Zero absurd and an insult to relatives of the thousands of victims who lost their lives on 11 September 2001. The party wants the subsidy to ASMA to be withdrawn immediately.

FOXNEWS….The controversy surrounding Pope Benedict’s September trip to the United Kingdom has kicked up a bit after an Islamic website invited Muslims to “tell the pope just what they think of him after his insults against the Prophet Muhammad.”
The Islamic Standard welcomed the change of venue for an event on the last day of the pontiff’s visit, Sept. 19, from Coventry to Birmingham.
Birmingham, the second-largest city in England after London, is about 15 percent Muslim, and the website said it was a good opportunity for Muslims to confront “disbelievers” and to “tell the pope in no uncertain terms what Muslims think of his evil slanders against the last Prophet of God and his message.”
The Islamic Standard also referred to the Catholic Church as the “sodomite child-molesting Church of Rome.”
Pope Benedict angered Muslims on a 2006 trip to Regensburg, Germany, in which during a long, academic discourse he quoted a Byzantine emperor who said, “Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”
While Benedict has tried to repair relations with Muslims, and even prayed in a mosque while in Turkey, clearly not everything has been smoothed over.
‘BMWs’ Help Afghans Go AWOL From Texas Air Base
Whether they are illegals or not, by helping these Afghans, thier loyalties are clear.
FOXNEWS…A loose network of Mexican-American women, some of whom may be illegal immigrants, have been responsible for helping numerous Afghan military deserters go AWOL from an Air Force Base in Texas, FoxNews.com has learned.
Many of the Afghans, with the women’s assistance, have made their way to Canada; the whereabouts of others remain unknown. Some of the men have been schooled by the women in how to move around the U.S. without any documentation.
The Afghan deserters refer to the women as “BMWs” — Big Mexican Women — and they often are the first step in the Afghans’ journey from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to Canada, a diplomatic official told FoxNews.com. He requested anonymity because he is not authorized to speak publicly during an ongoing investigation by U.S. and international authorities into who helped the Afghans leave the Defense Language Institute’s English Language Center at Lackland.
The official’s account was supported by a source at the Defense Language Institute (DLI), who also requested anonymity. Foreign soldiers attend DLI to learn English before they receive specialized military training at various installations in the U.S.
The Afghan military men usually meet the women at three nightclubs in San Antonio, according to the DLI source, who accompanied some of the men to these locations and has been privy to discussions among them about the establishments and the women. The nightclubs include two military hangouts — Tiffany’s Cocktails and Mirage, located outside Lackland’s main gate — and Graham Central Station, a massive warehouse-like building in downtown San Antonio that houses “six nightclubs under one roof” that host a variety of theme nights. Photos on Graham Central’s website show scantily clad women rolling around in what appears to be Jell-O.
In the past eight years, no fewer than 46 members of the Afghan military have gone absent without leave from DLI. Indonesian Muslims ‘praying in wrong direction’
Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) — Indonesian Muslims have been praying in the wrong direction, the country’s highest Islamic authority has said.
The Indonesian Ulema Council told the country’s Muslim populace in March to turn west when they offered their daily prayers. Muslims are supposed to face the Kaaba, the religion’s most sacred site in the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
At the time, the council said that the direction of Kaaba from Indonesia laid to the west.
Turns out, it didn’t. Africa did.
So, on Friday, the council issued a new edict: face northwest.
“After the first fatwa (edict) a few months ago that stated that the praying direction is west, we have announced that the correct direction for praying is indeed northwest, and we have issued a new fatwa (edict) to correct it,” said Ma’ruf Amin, the head of fatwa division in the Indonesian Ulema Council.
“This is important because facing west will mean that people were facing Africa when they pray,” he said.
Amin said the new edict does not mean that mosques in the country will need to be torn down. “They (those praying inside) just need to adjust their praying direction slightly,” he said.
Some residents of the world’s most populous Muslim country took the change in stride.
“I don’t really worry about the praying direction,” said Riza Irwansyah, an office worker in Jakarta. “The important thing is I prayed to Allah and I believe He will listen, no matter which way I’m facing.”

FOXNEWS… A young North Carolina man who has moved to Yemen appears to be the editor-in-chief of a flashy new Al Qaeda magazine that features bomb-making instructions and an article by Usama bin Laden, U.S. officials said Monday.
Samir Khan, a 24-year-old American citizen who left the country last October, is believed to be the top editor of Inspire, a newly launched online magazine that seeks to recruit members of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula – the notorious terror group’s Yemeni branch that is linked to the attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound U.S. flight last Christmas.

LONDON (Al Arabiya)
An earlier dismissal of fully veiled school teachers in Syria is now followed by another ministerial decree that bans niqab in university campuses on the grounds of fighting extremism and promoting moderation.
Syrian Minister of Higher Education Ghiath Barakat issued a decree prohibiting female students wearing the face veil from entering university campuses, the on-line press agency Syria News reported Sunday.

The decision, the minister said, was issued based on the requests of several parents who demanded that their girls be educated in a place that is devoid of any aspects of extremism. Concerns about the face veil were especially voiced in private universities.

Pakistan: On trial for blasphemy, two Christian brothers murdered in Faisalabad

Rashid Emmanuel and Sajid Masih Emmanuel were shot to death outside the courthouse right after a trial hearing. Both were handcuffed on their way back to prison. Police were going to clear them of the accusations. For days, Muslim religious leaders had incited Muslim faithful against the two, calling for their death.
Faisalabad (AsiaNews) – Gunmen shot to death Rashid Emmanuel and Sajid Masih Emmanuel, two Christian brothers on trial for blasphemy, as they left court in Faisalabad city (Punjab). The men were handcuffed together when the attack took place; they were on their way back to prison after their court appearance.
When they were arrested on 2 July, the Christian community sounded the alarm bell, fearing possible attacks. Immediately right after their arrest, Muslims organised a protest demonstration, calling for the two Christian brothers to be put to death.
The brothers were killed by two gunmen outside the Faisalabad courthouse, where they had been taken for a hearing. They were an easy target for an execution-style assassination since they were shackled together. A police officer accompanying the two victims was also wounded. The killers escaped. Continue Reading →
