Islamist Calls for Slavery’s Legalization

Most Islamists prefer to avoid the subject of slavery, which is explicitly permitted in the Koran, but Salafis endorse this practice. Ali Al-Ahmed of the dissident Saudi Information Agency reports today that a prominent Saudi religious authority recently called for slavery to be re-legalized in the kingdom. Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan, the author of a religious textbook (At-Tawhid, “Monotheism”) widely used to teach Saudi high school students as well as their counterparts abroad studying in Saudi schools (including those in the West), announced in a recent lecture that “Slavery is a part of Islam. Slavery is part of jihad, and jihad will remain as long there is Islam.” He argued against the idea that slavery had ever been abolished, insulting those who espouse this view as “ignorant, not scholars. They are merely writers. Whoever says such things is an infidel.”

Al-Fawzan is no maverick. He is:

  • A member of the Senior Council of Clerics, Saudi Arabia’s highest religious body;
  • A member of the Council of Religious Edicts and Research;
  • Imam of the Prince Mitaeb Mosque in Riyadh; and
  • Professor at Imam Mohamed Bin Saud Islamic University, the main Wahhabi center of learning.

That such a viewpoint can be asserted by a card-carrying member of the Saudi religious establishment offers a tragic commentary on the state of Islamic discourse today. (November 7, 2003)

May 31, 2011 update: An Egyptian sheikh, Abu Ishaq al-Huwaini (also spelled Abo Ishaq Alheweny) wants to apply the Shar’i code of spoils of war, including the taking of slaves. Raymond Ibrahim explains in “Raped and Ransacked in the Muslim World”:

According to Huwaini, after Muslims invade and conquer a non-Muslim nation—in the course of waging an offensive jihad—the properties and persons of those infidels who refuse to convert or pay jizya and live as subjugated dhimmis, are to be seized as ghanima or “spoils of war.” … Huwaini said that infidel captives, the “spoils of war,” are to be distributed among the Muslim combatants (i.e., jihadists) and taken to “the slave market, where slave-girls and concubines are sold.”

Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan represents the triumphant Janus-faced approach to the fundamentalist global “Islamic revival.” He and his pious forbears have now completed dismantling Turkey’s secular experiment, and achieved the full-throated re-Islamization of Turkish society, an insidious process begun already within the decade after Ataturk’s death, in 1938.  When currying favor with gullible Western audiences, Erdogan burbles disingenuous ecumenical platitudes about the “Alliance of Civilizations.” But in reality, this is an Islamization campaign promoted by the Organization of the Islamic Conference, notably Saudi Arabia, which rewarded Erdogan, for his role in the Alliance, specifically, as “services to Islam,” with the “King Faisal International Prize,” considered the “Nobel prize” of the Arab world. Regardless, Erdogan has always aroused his Muslim constituencies by brazenly appealing to their deep-seated jihadist sentiments as he did while mayor of Istanbul, in 1997, delivering a fiery speech that reminded the masses of these words from the  poem “The Soldier’s Prayer,” written (in 1912) by Turkish nationalist poet Ziya Gokalp:

The minarets are our bayonets, the domes our helmets, the mosques our barracks and the faithful our army.

Cited appropriately by successful opponents of minaret construction in Switzerland, such rhetoric should now resonate uncomfortably in America with the online release Monday June 6, 2011 of alarming survey data from a representative national sample of US mosques.

During August 2007, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) released “Radicalization in the West — The Homegrown Threat.” This insightful 90-page report evaluated the threat that had become apparent since 9/11/2001, analyzing the roots of recent terror plots in the United States, from Lackawanna in upstate New York to Portland, Ore., to Fort Dix, NJ. Based upon these case-study analyses of individuals arrested for jihadist activity, the authors concluded that the “journey” of radicalization that produces homegrown jihadists began in so-called “Salafist” (“fundamentalist” to non-Muslims) mosques characterized by high levels of Sharia—Islamic Law—adherence. The landmark study just published, “Sharia and Violence in American Mosques” (Kedar M, Yerushalmi D. The Middle East Quarterly, Summer 2011, Vol. 18, No. 3, pp. 59-72) sought to expand considerably upon the NYPD’s post-hoc, case study approach—systematically gathering objective survey data, with much greater methodological rigor—and address these two a priori questions: I) Is there a robust association between observable measures of religious devotion, coupled to Sharia-adherence in US mosques, and the presence of violence-sanctioning materials at these mosques?; and II) Is there a robust association between the presence of violence-sanctioning materials at a mosque, and the advocacy of jihadism by the mosque’s leadership via recommending the study of these materials, or other manifest behaviors?

Full details of the sampling methodology, extracts of representative jihad promoting materials (texts), and specific Sharia-compliant behaviors recorded, are provided in the accompanying appendices, reproduced from the full study (which will be available here 6/6/11). In brief, survey data were collected from a nationally representative, random statistical sample of 100 US mosques, covering 14 states, and the District of Columbia. This concise overview of the basic data collection procedures—including a self-critical, honest caveat by the authors about “completeness” of the available information on US mosque locations—is reproduced verbatim from the report (p. 68):

A surveyor visited a subject mosque in order: (a) to observe and record 12 Sharia-adherent behaviors of the worshipers and the imam (or lay leader); (b) to observe whether the mosque contained the selected materials rated as moderate and severe; (c) to observe whether the mosque contained materials promoting, praising, or supporting violence or violent jihad; and (d) to observe whether the mosque contained materials indicating the mosque had invited guest speakers known to have promoted violent jihad. Thus, the survey only examined the presence of Sharia-adherent behaviors, the presence of violence positive materials in mosques, whether an imam would promote the study of violence-positive materials, and whether a mosque was used as a forum to promote violent jihad. Since there is no central body to which all mosques belong, it was difficult to ascertain that the sampling universe list was complete. This may have introduced bias into the sampling although the authors find no evidence of any systemic distortions.

The study’s results provide clear—and ominous—affirmative answers to the a priori questions posed. Sharia-adherence was strongly associated with the presence of jihad-violence sanctioning materials, and the presence of jihad-violence sanctioning materials was in turn robustly associated with advocacy of jihadism by mosque imams—religious leaders. This key summary finding was highlighted by the authors:

…51 percent of mosques had texts that either advocated the use of violence in the pursuit of a Shari‘a-based political order or advocated violent jihad as a duty that should be of paramount importance to a Muslim; 30 percent had only texts that were moderately supportive of violence like the Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Fiqh as-Sunna; 19 percent had no violent texts at all.

Thus 81% of this statistical sample representative of US mosques were deemed as moderately (30%) to highly (51%) supportive of promulgating jihad violence to impose Shari’a.

Additional profoundly troubling findings emerge when the data are explored in depth beyond these summary observations. For example, only 4.7% of Muslim worshippers attended mosques where jihadist materials were not provided because Sharia-compliant mosques promoting jihad were the most heavily attended. The authors also describe these specific details indicating that the preponderance of US mosques sanction jihad terrorism and its ultimate goal of a Caliphate (i.e., the transnational imposition of strict Islamic law in current Muslim nations, and ultimately global imposition of Islamic Law, including in the US), if one includes advocacy of financial support for this sacralized violence (from pp. 67-69).

Ok here is yet another clip of a credible and experienced person attempting to warn the West on the factual nature of Islam, and how Islam behaves given he slightest opportunity. But why watch it? What’s the point?

The point is that Canada, the US, and Europe are merely several stages before this. The proof, will be published monday in quite an important document. I very much look forward to posting it when its available. But it will be everywhere. When you watch this, and I hope you do, please keep in mind that while there are no surprises here for anyone who is a regular reader of this site and ones like it, these countries are the rule, not the exception. Any nation with more than two or three percent Muslims have mosques. Mosques preach jihad and dominance of all the earth as Mohamed demanded, petulant, murdering, rapist that he was, and all countries which have Muslims have a percentage of those Muslims that work toward the goal of implementing the sharia, be it by stealth, wealth or force.

East End “Gay Free Zone” sticker man Mohammed Hasnath busted, fined

Muslim fanatic fined £100 for ‘gay free zone’ stickers.

A Muslim fanatic who posted homophobic stickers declaring London’s East End a “gay free zone” has been fined £100.

1:18PM BST 01 Jun 2011

Mohammed Hasnath, 18, posted stickers warning gays that homosexuality was wrong and that “Allah is severe in punishment”.

The stickers showed a rainbow flag with a black line through it stating “Gay free zone”.

They caused outrage among the community, with one Jewish resident said it reminded him of Nazi signs his mother had faced in the 30s declaring an area a “Jew free zone”.

Others said it made them fearful for their safety.

Hasnath, who is on benefits, admitted putting up a handful of the notes but said he had been given them, and pointed out there were “hundreds” of similar offensive stickers in the area.

Darren Watts, prosecuting, said: “This is in relation to a series of homophobic stickers put up around the East End area in February.”

The stickers, which were posted at Bow Church DLR, on the inside of a bus, at a bus stop in Whitechapel and outside the Royal London Hospital, showed a rainbow flag with a black line through it.

Above the flag was printed “Arise and warn” and below it said “And fear Allah: Verily Allah is severe in punishment.” Both were followed by references to the English version of the Koran.

Mr Watts told Westminster Magistrates Court that Hasnath was arrested after he was spotted on CCTV putting up the sticker at Bow Church and confessed to police he had also been handing them out to young Muslim men in the area.

“He said this was because in the Koran it was forbidden for any person to be a homosexual and as a practising Muslim it was against his religion,” Mr Watts said.

“These stickers have deeply upset many of the community in and around the area.”

In a statement read to the court Jack Gilbert, a board member of the Sandy Row Synagogue and co chair of the Rainbow Hamlets community forum, said: “For me I read this no differently from a sign that said ‘Jew free zone’.

“When I see that sticker I see the signs my mother saw in the 1930s which actually carried less suggestion of punishment.

“For me I perceived an immediate threat of violence and had to make an instant risk assessment to my personal safety.”

A retired resident in the local area made a statement saying: “I was deeply shocked and decided to remove it as it immediately struck me as deeply offensive contained a implied threat of violence.”

The statement of a police officer working in the East End read to the court added: “I felt upset and offended. It made me feel I shouldn’t be working in the area and it should be a gay free zone.

“As far as I am concerned I should feel free and at peace to work in my community.”

When told the allegation against him of a public order offence of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour between February 11 and 14 Hasnath said: “But I just put up stickers, I didn’t harass or swear at anybody or anything.”

Hasnath, who was representing himself, pleaded guilty to the offence.

When asked by District Judge Jeremy Coleman what he had to say for himself Hasnath said: “Basically, some people just handed them to me so I just put them up. I didn’t say anything, it doesn’t say that I am going to punish them it just says what God says in the Koran.

“I wasn’t the one who made them, some people gave them to me and I only put up a few, there were hundreds of them up. I didn’t know the police were going to get involved or that it was a offence or anything.”

Hasnath, who lives with his family in Tower Hamlets and survives on job seekers allowance, was fined £100, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. The offence could not carry a custodial sentence.

District Judge Coleman said: “I think you used these stickers deliberately to offend and distress people, you certainly succeeded in doing that.

“You have upset people and they deserve an apology, you are not entitled to behave in this way.”

The court heard that Hasnath is on bail for allegedly defacing a women’s fashion advertising board.

Sharia in Oz? Well I never!

So a couple of weeks back we have the Australian Defence League’s first stand against sharia in Australia.

Next come the news reports that muslims don’t think that we should be worried about that sort of thing:

Australian Federation of Islamic Councils president Ikebal Patel said the group was provocative and wrong to believe that most Australian Muslims wanted to bring in sharia law.

“It’s of great concern that anyone is out there trying to disrupt the peaceful social fabric of Australia,” he said.

And then… we have Ikebal Patel coming out and saying, well, actually, we do

want     
sharia here in Australia. Only a little bit of it, though. Just a smidge of sharia to make us feel more accepted.

In the meantime, we’ve got our very own version of Andy Choudary, the (not so) photogenic Shannon Conlon aka Ibrahim Siddiq Conlon prating all over the television that islam uber alles is what he’s about, and he’ll grab all the air time he can get to tell us what’s good for us.

Especially if we give him $5000 for the privilege of being hectored by him.

(hint:yeah, he wants sharia)

Unfortunately for Ikebal Patel and Shannon, there was a bit too much scrutiny applied to this idea, and the talkback radio, letters to the editors and blogs showed that your regular aussies, and not a few immigrants themselves, don’t want islamic jurispridence in this country.

So the Attorney General, Rob McClelland, had to come out and explain that:

“As our citizenship pledge makes clear, coming to Australia means obeying Australian laws and upholding Australian values,” he said.

“Australia’s brand of multiculturalism promotes integration. If there is any inconsistency between cultural values and the rule of law then Australian law wins out.”

It’s good to have public discussion on this, although it appears that Oscar Wilde was incorrect when he said that “the only thing worse than being talked about it not being talked about.”

Looks like Ikebal’s gone awol and the wagons are circling.

The Center for Security Policy’s report, Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases evaluates 50 Appellate Court cases from 23 states that involve conflicts between Shariah (Islamic law) and American state law.

These cases are the stories of Muslim American families, mostly Muslim women and children, who were asking American courts to preserve their rights to equal protection and due process.  These families came to America for freedom from the discriminatory and cruel laws of Shariah.  When our courts then apply Shariah law in the lives of these families, and deny them equal protection, they are betraying the principles on which America was founded.

The study’s findings suggest that Shariah law has entered into state court decisions, in conflict with the Constitution and state public policy. Some commentators have said there are no more than one or two cases of Shariah law in U.S. state court cases; yet we found 50 significant cases just from the small sample of appellate published cases.

Others have asserted with certainty that state court judges will always reject any foreign law, including Shariah law, when it conflicts with the Constitution or state public policy; yet we found 15 Trial Court cases, and 12 Appellate Court cases, where Shariah was found to be applicable in these particular cases. The facts are the facts: some judges are making decisions deferring to Shariah law even when those decisions conflict with Constitutional protections.

Battered and slashed by a Muslim gang just because he taught RE: Four jailed over their ‘dangerous extreme religious beliefs’

A commenter to Vlad, who by his grammar and syntax would appear to be Arabic, claimed that the teacher was attacked because he was “A perv” and not because he was teaching religion. It would appear that the media and the Judge do not agree.

11 executions in Iran today- Five public hangings

Below, a report on some of the hangings that have taken place in Iran in the past couple of days. The original link goes back much farther and has more detail. What concerns me is some of the charges, clearly based on highly abstract sharia laws such as immoral relationships, likely meaning sex with an adult women for which a mullah was not paid for a temporary marriage certificate. Islam is nothing if not a giant protection racket.

According to the state run Iranian news agency IRNA, four men were hanged in public in two different points of Shiraz, this morning.

Iran Human Rights, May 26: A man was hanged in public in the city of Qazvin, west of Tehran, early this morning.
According to the official Iranian news agencies the man who was identified as “Mehdi Faraji” (37) was hanged in public, in the beginning of Qazvin’s “Isfahan street” early this morning.
Mehdi Faraji was convicted of murdering five women between May 2009 and March 2010.
This is the eighth public hanging that has taken in May 2011 in Iran.

Early objections to UN universal human rights by you-know-who

Islamist countries such as Sudan, Pakistan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia have criticized the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for its perceived failure to take into the account the cultural and religious context of Islamist countries because they claimed their governments were based on the Sharia.[20] In 1982, the Iranian representative to the United Nations, Said Rajaie-Khorassani, articulated the position of his country regarding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, by saying that the UDHR was “a secular understanding of the Judeo-Christian tradition”, which could not be implemented by Muslims without trespassing the Islamic law.[21] On 30 June 2000, Muslim nations that are members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference[22] officially resolved to support the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam,[23] an alternative document that says people have “freedom and right to a dignified life in accordance with the Islamic Shari’ah”.[24] However, a dignified life in accordance with the Islamic Shari’ah is only assured for Muslims due to the application of Dhimmitude to all non-Muslims.

In his latest audio message, al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri expressed support for the recent wave of Arab revolts, SITE Intelligence Group reported May 22. Though the Egyptian constitution claims to be Shariah, Egypt’s legislation is man-made, and Egyptians should use the opportunity afforded by the revolution to impose true Shariah, Zawahiri said. He also called on Egypt to end its relationship with Israel and to cease closing the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip, going so far as to urge Egyptians to “dismantle” the crossing. Regarding Libya, Zawahiri said NATO seeks to replace Moammar Gadhafi with its own “tyrannical” ruler, and he urged protesters in Syria to continue their demonstrations against the regime of President Bashar al Assad.

rodrigo Islamabad – Rodrigo Moreto Cubek (photo), a young Brazilian lawyer in his thirties, was arrested last Friday after he shouted religious slogans Christians during weekly Muslim prayers in the biggest mosque in the country.

Dressed in traditional Pakistani clothes, he was among the crowd of believers and normally performed Muslim rites, but when the community was in the second rakat he stood up and shouted: “Long live Christianity” Long live the Virgin Mary “ and so on. As the ritual lasted nobody could stop him for not invalidate the prayers, but as soon as the imam had finished the prayer, security agents seized the mosque to surrender him to the municipal police.

He said he saw Christ in a dream and that he asked him to go to Pakistan to preach the gospel.
For the latest information the Pakistani justice system should require a medical examination and psychiatric and probably bring charges of “disturbing public order” to spare him the charge of “blasphemy” that would lead to the death penalty …
