Attacks against Israel over the past few days

1. There have been some pretty brutal acts of Jihad terror in Israel in the past week, and we have not managed to post them yet. This is because the workload is high. Much is available in the Reader’s Links over the past week. Here are one or two things, but there is more to know.

1B: Israeli woman hurt by rock thrown at her car near West Bank settlement

Settlers claim uptick in stone-throwing incidents, making travel – especially with children in the car – a frightening experience; resident of settlement Shilo says the military’s hands are tied in the fight against stone-throwers

“We were on our way home, my husband and I, with our two young daughters,” Tehia Bar, a resident of the Shilo settlement said. “When we passed an intersection, I noticed a masked youth on the side of the road and within seconds he threw a rock at us.

1C: two Israelis shot in possible terrorist attack near Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus

IDF forces detain senior Palestinian official following shooting. The two Haredi victims claim they had tried to enter the Jewish holy site to repair damage caused by Palestinian rioters the day before.

1D: Israel takes offensive in West Bank amid wave of terrorism

1E: Tactical Success of Individual Shooting Attacks: A Strategic Achievement for Terrorism must be Averted

The new phenomenon – a series of shooting attacks by individuals, in the heart of cities in Israel – evokes a sense of success among Palestinian terrorists, mainly due to the embarrassment these events cause Israel. A senior Hamas official who responded to the attack in Tel Aviv said that “the armed actions in the heart of Tel Aviv illustrate the infiltration of the resistance into the Israeli security system.” Islamic Jihad praised the terrorist who waged a shooting attack in the heart of Tel Aviv for “one of the most powerful resistance operations that shocked Israel and exposed its fragility at its core – Tel Aviv.” The organization also called for more “guerrilla operations,” and to see the “shahid” from the attack as a role model. Hezbollah also joined in the celebratory greetings, claiming the Palestinian resistance is proving its ability to confront Israel and respond to its crimes in a place it did not expect – in its own territory. The organization also insisted that the attack exposed Israel’s weakness and confusion among security bodies.

1F: Arab News: Palestinians vandalize West Bank shrine as tensions soar

  • The developments come as tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have escalated during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan

TEL AVIV: Palestinians set fire to a West Bank shrine revered by Jews as Israeli forces operated in the occupied territory following a spate of recent Palestinian attacks in Israel, the Israeli military said Sunday.

The developments come as tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have escalated during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which this year converges with major Jewish and Christian holidays. Protests and tensions around the holiday last year boiled over into the 11-day Gaza war.

Military spokesman Brig. Gen. Ran Kochav told Israeli Army Radio that some 100 Palestinians marched toward the site late Saturday, rioted and set it ablaze before they were dispersed by Palestinian security forces. Images on social media showed parts of the tomb inside the shrine smashed and charred.

1G: What set off the explosive terror in Israel

First, it may have been caused, ironically, by peace. The Abraham Accords and the growing official and unofficial acceptance of Israel on the part of many Arab states have, unquestionably, changed the face of the region. But they are definitely not to everyone’s liking. There are powerful forces — Iran not least among them — who do not want to see Israel accepted because it would mean that Israel is permanent. And they do not want to see Arab nations cooperate with Israel because they view it as treason.

Launching a wave of violence, even an unorganized and spontaneous one, is a way to keep tensions high, register discontent, and place Israel’s new Arab allies in a difficult position should Israel be forced to undertake retaliatory action.

There really is a lot of great material on these attacks in Israel by muslims over the past few days in the various Reader’s Links posts. Please check there.

100 rockets from Gaza

All Israel-labeled bottles of wine may be sold once again in Ontario, Canada, after a directive to remove wine products produced in the West Bank from shelves was retracted.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) backtracked on their ruling on Tuesday that wine products labeled as “Product of Israel” should be removed from sale if their production could be traced to the West Bank.

This led to the province of Ontario’s regulatory agency for liquor (LCBO) ordering vendors to remove such products from their shelves.

Rockets hit Sderot, Israel responds with tanks, planes

There is more to this story than the usual, Gazanian rockets hit Israeli field, Israelis test Iron Dome. This looks like the start of something truly awful.

Here is what is known so far from Big Story:

SDEROT, Israel (AP) — Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket into southern Israel on Sunday, prompting the Israeli military to respond with airstrikes and tank fire on targets inside Gaza. No injuries were reported on either side.

The Israeli military said the rocket landed in the southern border town of Sderot, a frequent target of Palestinian rocket fire. The rocket landed in a residential area next to a house, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

Shortly afterward, the military said Israeli aircraft and tanks targeted two posts belonging to the Hamas militant group in northern Gaza. Hamas officials said a training camp in northern Gaza was targeted, but the camp had been evacuated after the rocket was fired in anticipation of an Israeli reprisal.

UPDATE: An eyewitness in Sderot said the rocket was a Grad missile with a 140 KG warhead which did not detonate, and landed in the town a few hundred yards from the home of the witness.

BBC Asia interviews a Hamas leader on their ties with Iran and ambitions.

This is a significant interview and while it was supposed to be available in English by request, no request was answered by those who asked. Please download and spread this video by any and all means in case it is removed. It must be seen and understood. While it isn’t a ‘sexy’ video of psychos screaming, it is an extremely powerful person calmly discussing geopolitically significant matters such as nuclear weapons, genocide, strategic alliances and enmity as well as ambitions as well as the implementation of sharia in Gaza. Add to this recent demonstrations of Hamas’ alliance with Turkey and we see what could be a game changer in the region.

The lunacy continues.

Because at this time and juncture in U.S. history, the treasury is just flush with cash, and the Palestinian Authority is such a logical place of investment.  (</sarcasm off>)

US President Barack Obama has lifted a ban on financial aid to the Palestinian Authority.

Obama stated that the aid was “important to the security interests of the United States.”

The US Congress froze a $192 million aid package to the Palestinian Authority after its president, Mahmoud Abbas, defied US pressure and sought to attain UN endorsement of Palestinian statehood last September. The presidential waiver means that aid can now be delivered.

The unilateral statehood gambit was strongly opposed by Israel, which said Abbas was seeking to avoid negotiating the necessary compromises and modalities of statehood with Israel. The US indicated it would veto a resolution in the Security Council seeking unilateral recognition of “Palestine,” but the issue has not come to a vote, because the Palestinians were unable to obtain sufficient support in the Security Council. They may yet seek a non-binding endorsement of statehood in the UN General Assembly.

Spring is in the air and the Arabs are restless.

As springtime approaches, the Arabs escalate their violence against the Jewish state of Israel, you can reasonably count on it, if anything is going to happen, it’s usually then. I also draw your attention to the TT’s side bar that keeps a running count of the war crimes rockets launched into Israel by the Arabs from Gaza. Last month ‘only’ 37 rockets were launched, by today’s account on March 10th, 40 rockets thus far, with more to come no doubt.

NOTE: The farcical Finnish state tun media (YLE) is spin mode as usual, “12 Palestinian fighters died friday evening in Gaza”. They choose for political reasons to label these Arabs simply as “fighters”, though they are involved in launching discriminate rocket fire against civilian population centers (read=terrorism), it’s a war crime. Finland’s YLE simply cannot be considered an impartial news organization.

UPDATE: They’re now saying it’s at least 80 rockets fired into Israel

IDF strikes Gaza targets following rocket barrage

03/10/2012 01:31

Hamas: 8 terrorists killed in latest IAF attack after PRC chief hit; IDF says IAF planes record direct hits on terror targets.

The IAF struck six targets in Gaza overnight Friday in response to a number of rocket attacks from the Strip earlier in the day that left at least eight people injured.

Palestinian terrorists fired approximately 40 rockets from Gaza into southern Israel on Friday night after an air strike killed the secretary general of the Popular Resistance Committees, Zuhair Qaisi.

In the latest round of air strikes, launched after darkness fell, eight more Gaza terrorists were killed, Hamas officials in Gaza said.

The IDF Spokesman’s Office said that the Air Force recorded direct hits.

In the Eshkol Regional Council a 40-year-old man was seriously injured, a second man was moderately injured by shrapnel in his stomach and a third was lightly injured. Paramedics said the injured appear to be foreign workers. An electric pole and a vehicle were also damaged in the attack.

The barrage of rockets followed an IAF air strike that killed the secretary general of the Popular Resistance Committees, Zuhair Qaisi.

Since the initial air strike, the IAF continued operations over Gazan skies to track down rocket launching crews, and struck two cells making final preparations to fire high-trajectory rockets into Israel. One of the terror cells was in central Gaza and the other in northern Gaza. The IDF confirmed hits on its targets.

Palestine: Muslim Persecution of Christians

The fifth column gets smacked.

Yes,  and these terrorists look amazingly like the ones that we have here in Europe as well. Funny how that is. KGS

Security forces arrested five Arab-Israeli residents of Daburiyya in the North this month on suspicion of plotting to carry out terrorist attacks on multiple targets, police announced on Thursday.

The arrests were carried out by the northern police district’s central unit in coordination with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).

“They planned to attack and IDF soldier and a Border policeman who lived in the village, and selected ‘candidates’ from which they planned to steal weapons and carry out future attacks,” police said.

The suspects are affiliated with the Salifia Jihadiya jihadi group, police added.

Israeli general: Middle East war imminent

Israeli Major-General Eyal Eisenberg, chief of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Homefront Command, told a press conference in Tel Aviv yesterday that full-scale war in the Middle East is inevitable. He also says that the conflict may involve the use of weapons of mass destruction, and blames radical Islamists in the region.
