In a first, local Swedish authority allows Islamic call to prayer

A municipality in the Swedish capital of Stockholm has allowed the recitation of adhan, the call to prayer, through minaret speakers, in an unprecedented move.

Islamic Cultural Center of Botkyrka, a municipality in Stockholm mostly populated by immigrants, applied almost a month ago to municipal authorities, seeking permission for recitation of the adhan before Friday prayers through speakers in the minaret of the Fittja Mosque, located within the boundaries of Botkyrka.

Ulf Kristersson proposes that the Church of Sweden must contain all religions

Do away with Christianity and turn the church into a multi-religious meeting place. That was the future vision of Ulf Kristersson (of Moderaterna, liberal conservatives), the Swedish Minister for Social Security, during the recent brainstorming day ”Se Framtiden” (“See the Future”). The Swedish Archbishop, however, was skeptical.

Some 250 persons had gathered on February 6th at the conference center Norra Latin in Stockholm to discuss visions and challenges for the Church of Sweden. During a panel discussion, a variety of ideas were presented, proposing what the Church of Sweden can do for its members, in order to put an end to the ongoing flight of members from the Church.

Malmo Mayor moved by Mohamed art

The mayor of Malmö has slammed an upcoming exhibition of work by controversial Swedish artist Lars Vilks, saying he hoped no one would visit the gallery to see artwork he said was “associated with xenophobes”.

 

“Of course he has the right to display what he calls art anywhere he wants,” Mayor Ilmar Reepalu told the TT news agency.

“But as far as I can gather, this is pretty bad art and I think they want to use the gallery for political ends,” he added.

“Vilks is increasingly associated in people’s minds with xenophobic groups at the far right of the political spectrum. I hope not a single person visits the gallery.”

News of the show, set to open in July, prompted representatives from different religions in the multicultural southern city to call an emergency meeting,

Some observers appeared frightened that the show would provoke a violent reaction.

An Iranian Christian convert seeking asylum in Sweden reportedly faces imminent deportation to Iran. The reports say if he is deported, he could be subjected to danger by the Islamic regime’s security forces.

Reza Jabbari, the Iranian citizen who has converted to Christianity, is in danger of being deported to Iran.

According to Mohabat News, Reza Jabbari, an Iranian Christian convert, submitted his asylum request to the Swedish Immigration Services in 2010, during a visit to the country. However, the Swedish immigration court and the Immigration Office rejected his asylum application.

The reports indicate that his case has been rejected while evidence describes him as a person actively participating in church and evangelistic activities among Iranians. His activities include distribution of Bibles and sharing the gospel. Currently he participates in the choir of Tensta church in Sweden.

This news was also published on CBN blog. The CBN report said, “Apparently the court questioned the sincerity of Jabbari’s conversion and said he failed to convince them that his life would be in danger if he were sent back to Iran. This, despite assurances from Jabbari’s pastor that, “He has a deep Christian identity, as much as I have.”

A Malmö court has convicted a man who did a Nazi salute in a park for racial agitation and sentenced him to community service.

The 33-year-old man was watching the football game between Sweden and Ukraine during the summer on a big screen in a local park when the incident took place.

In court, he said the Hitler salute was an “internal joke” between him and his friends. He also stated that he was too drunk at the time to realize the gesture was inappropriate.

The court in its verdict said it had taken these claims into consideration, but found his action to be in breach of Sweden’s agitation law(hets mot folkgrupp).

The law is meant to protect against harassment of people based on, for example, their ethnicity, religion, sexuality and gender.

Sweden also has legislation on “hate crimes,” which means a sentence can be made more severe if a criminal act can be proven to have been motivated by prejudice or hatred.

A robber was shot in the head by police on Friday after he and three others exchanged fire with officers in Södertälje, one hour south of Stockholm, after trying to rob a jewellery store in a shopping mall.

“We know that one of the robbers has been shot,” Albin Näverberg at Södertälje police told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Speaking later with TV4, an officer leading the operation explained that the robber had been shot in the head.

He has since been taken to hospital, but the extent of his injuries remains unclear.

“He’s sedated now,” the officer told TV4.

I typically post stuff on Islamic antisemitism when a video shows up that demonstrates that it is worse than I thought it was, or is increasing or changing in some way.  Sadly, these are turning up with greater frequency these days. I wonder if Europe will learn the signs of it, or wait until Islam destroys everything in its way of total conquest. History tends towards the latter.

When Issa opened the door, they thrashed him, and one of them stabbed a knife into his stomach. Issa survived miraculously, then left the party.

A 10-year-old was told he could not dress up as a gingerbread man at his school’s traditional Lucia celebration as all references to the cookie had been banned in order to avoid offence.

News about the ban on gingerbread men, gingerbread cookies and gingerbread-themed songs at the school in Laxå in central Sweden spread like wildfire on social media.

Now it looks like the school has backtracked, with the municipality suggesting it was probably a misunderstanding.

According to the local Nerikes Allehanda (NA) newspaper, 10-year-old Mio Simic was told by a teacher that he could not be a gingerbread man in his school’s annual Lucia celebration, a tradition that rivals Christmas in terms of the significance Swedes place on the holiday. It is celebrated in honour of the Catholic Saint Lucia on December 13th.

Schools mark the occasion with a morning procession where girls usually dress up as Lucia, donning white robes and wreaths of candles, while boys dress up as gingerbread men (pepparkaksgubbar), star boys (stjärngossar) or gnomes (tomtar).

Twice on friday night, police had to rush to Gärdshyttan asylum centre, outside Hammar . The first time was around 8.40 pm.

‘There was trouble, but nothing serious’, reports vakthavande bef‰l [maybe: on-duty commander] Jan Heide, Örebropolisen.

Police registered three reports at the trouble scene, one for illegal threats, another two for abuse. But none of these were more serious crimes. No-one was arrested in relation to the trouble. At least one person, the 15-year old, left the accomodation after the trouble.

Around 11.45 pm, police had to rush back again to Gärdshyttan. The 15-year old had returned to the accommodation and threatened staff with some kind of weapon. Again, the perpetrator managed to leave before police arrived.

‘We found him not far from there, he had climbed up a tree’, reports Heide.

Police managed to talk to the boy, so that he climbed down from the tree and could be captured. He is suspected for illegal threats.

The 15-year old, wo lives at Gärdshyttan, was brought to Örebro police station. Later, he was released but continues to be a suspect.
