A GP has revealed he is planning to quit medicine over an investigation by the doctors watchdog into claims he ‘discriminated’ against a Muslim woman for asking her to remove her veil.

 

Dr Keith Wolverson said he ‘politely’ asked the woman to take off the garment for patient safety reasons during a consultation last year because he was unable to hear her explain her sick daughter’s symptoms.

 

He was then ‘deeply upset’ when last week he received a letter from the General Medical Council, the professional regulator, informing him that he was subject to an inquiry over allegations of racial discrimination which could result in him being struck off.

(Just this short intro is an outrage. Discrimination? To ask someone to remove some cloth? If a Jew was in for hair plugs and they asked him to remove the kippa, would that be discrimination? And it gets worse from there. She DID! Her husband filed the charges post hoc!)

MILAN (AP) – Italy’s interior minister says an immigrant from North Africa has been arrested for an arson fire at a police station in northern Italy that killed two and injured more than a dozen.

Matteo Salvini announced the arrest on Twitter Tuesday, adding that “eliminating illegal immigration to Italy and Europe is a moral duty: Everyone home.”

 

The news agency ANSA reported that the fire overnight killed two people living in apartments above the ground-floor police station in Mirandola, north of Bologna, and injuring more than a dozen others, two seriously. The victims, a 74-year-old woman and her live-in caretaker, were killed in an explosion.

 

ANSA said the suspect broke into the police station and set the fire. A motive was not clear.

5. Woman, pretending to be a man, loses baby in hospital, probably because everyone was forced by law to pretend along with her that she is a man, so no pregnancy checks were done, and the procedure they did on her, cost her the baby.

This week, TheNew England Journal of Medicine published a bizarre story. A “transgender man” entered a hospital with severe abdominal pains. Because she was identified as a man, the doctors naturally did not think to treat her for labor and delivery, so she tragically lost the baby. Rather than emphasizing the danger of placing gender identity over biological sex, both the journal and The Washington Post made the absurd claim that the hospital should not have ruled out pregnancy for a man.

 

“He was rightly classified as a man” in the medical records and appears masculine, Dr. Daphna Stroumsa at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, wrote in the journal article. “But that classification threw us off from considering his actual medical needs.”

 

“The point is not what’s happened to this particular individual but this is an example of what happened to transgender people interacting with the health care system,” she added.

ISIS plotted to use WIFI to remotely detonate backpacks full of explosives, as Indonesian police say they have rounded up dozens of skilled bomb-makers.

 

Indonesian police said Friday that they have arrested Islamic-State linked terror suspects, including some who planned to detonate bombs at political demonstrations when election results are announced next week.  

Police said militants wanted to take advantage of any political unrest to spark chaos by using use WiFi to remotely detonate bomb-filled backpacks at crowded demonstrations.

 

‘So we’re urging the public not to go out on the streets on May 22 because it could be dangerous as they (the suspects) wanted to attack crowds and police officers,’ a police spokesman told reporters in the capital Jakarta.

WASHINGTON– Democrats in the House approved sweeping anti-discrimination legislation Friday that would extend civil rights protections to LGBT people by prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The protections would extend to employment, housing, loan applications, education, public accommodations and other areas.

 

Called the Equality Act, the bill is a top priority of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who said it will bring the nation “closer to equal liberty and justice for all.”

Sexual orientation and gender identity “deserve full civil rights protections – in the workplace and in every place, education, housing, credit, jury service, public accommodations,” Pelosi said.

 

The vote was 236-173, with every Democrat voting in favor, along with eight Republicans. Cheers and applause broke out on the House floor as the bill crossed the threshold for passage. […]

 

The bill “hijacks” the 1964 Civil Rights Act to create “a brave new world of `discrimination’ based on undefined terms of sexual orientation and gender identity,” Hartzler said. The legislation threatens women’s sports, shelters and schools, and could silence female athletes, domestic abuse survivors and other women, she said.

9. Twitter suspends another prominent user for stating that men and women are biologically different.

Twitter locked Heritage Foundation Media Director Greg Scott out of his account Thursday over a tweet he wrote criticizing men who identify as women and compete in women’s sports.

 

Scott was notified Thursday that his tweet noting the biological differences between the sexes violated Twitter rules against “hateful conduct,” and his account had been suspended. The tweet that caused Scott’s suspension was in reference to a biological male athlete who was banned from competing in a women’s powerlifting competition.

 

“He is not ‘stuck on the sidelines,’” Scott wrote. “The whole ‘I was astonished’ act is tired and dishonest. If any competitive sport highlights the differences [between] men & women that EVERYONE KNOWS ARE REAL, it is powerlifting.”
