Islam in Australia
This one starts out a little slow. But tough it out for a few minutes. Wait till you hear the segment from the radio call in show. Clearly Islam in Australia is also the extreme, rare, exceptional form of Islam like it is everywhere else in the world.
Cloth bag falsely accuses police officer of racism, gets 6 months in jail
Do Our Clothes Have Feelings?
From Gates of Vienna:
A group of progressives staged a demonstration at Mr. Redegalli’s mural yesterday, with the apparent intention of erasing it again. Word of what was planned went out among the Australian Counterjihad community, and a group of counter-protesters were on hand to defend the artist and protect the mural.
Our Australian correspondent LAW Wells took his camera to the event and prepared this report for Gates of Vienna:
What would our undies think of us?
Upon a tip-off regarding a protest in Newtown about an anti-burqa mural, I made the trek into the city after Sunday Mass, stopping for a few errands before moving on to the scene of the mural and the proposed protest. I arrived at the corner of Station and Wilford Streets in Newtown a few minutes after 1 pm, having decided that the necessity of lunch was greater than the necessity of punctuality.
The offending mural, with a guardian gnome.
This was wise, because when I arrived, about ten or so members of the Australian Protectionist Party — an anti-immigration party that is opposed to mass immigration on environmental, economic and political grounds — were ready and waiting for the protest itself to arrive. We were in for a wait, and I struck up conversation with some of them, and they all were concerned about the ravages of Islam and the possibility of it coming here to Australia (they are aware of how advanced Europe is compared with ourselves in regards to Islamisation). Then, at long last, forty-five minutes after the protest was meant to begin, the demonstrators arrived. They arrived in a group of about thirty to forty people, and the APP took up a position between the protesters and the mural. The protesters had a few of the standard placards condemning racism against Arabs and Muslims, and declaring racists unwelcome in Australia and so on, and the protest quickly moved into a verbal brawl, with the protesters describing the APP counter-protest with the standard epithets (racist, Nazi, fascist), and one member of the APP loudly declaring the protesters a bunch of losers in need of a shower.
The placard contest, plus Australian and Israeli flags.
Various attempts at debate were initiated, which immediately descended into an argument of contradiction of the type that Monty Python suggested you charge for. The more successful attempts were achieved on the fringes of the protest, between Sergio and various onlookers, with myself having a chance to make a few comments in one such conversation (though they generally were either attempts to be funny, or not-very-well-explained attempts to argue about the illogical statement in “If anti-burqa, then racist” [it’s Boolean logic, and needs to be explained on its own]).
Sergio justifying himself to the protesters.
The protest was not very much of an expression of conversation, but Sergio relayed to me that he has addressed the APP, a Green Left meeting, and various other groups besides. In addition to this, he has an open door policy whereby those who oppose his mural may sit down with a cup of coffee and listen to each other (agreement at the end of coffee is not required).
I also learned from one elderly gentlemen in the APP group that there had been thirty occasions of vandalism of the mural (each of which had merely been painted over by Sergio). Sergio stated that his CCTV has nailed the same four people as responsible for the vandalism of what is his private property. Continue Reading →
Terrorism in Australia funded by Oz welfare.
By the way, in the book, ‘Pain, Pleasure and Prejudice,’ the reference to ‘The first drop of blood spilled fighting the unbelievers will forgive all your sins and guarantee you a place in paradise’ is explained in detail. This is not a random teaching of this cleric, as this clip implies, it is central dogma of Islam.

Bike Gang, Soldiers of Islam gaining momentum in Oz.
From News.Com.Au
H/T CockneyDoll with thanks
POLICE have discovered pictures of Osama bin Laden at a Gold Coast home linked to a worrying new bikie gang called Soldiers of Islam, whose members include former Iraqi soldiers.
Photos of the fugitive Al Qa’ida leader were found recently at the home of a gang member during a criminal investigation.
Soldiers of Islam, also known as Sons of Islam, is believed to be an offshoot of outlaw bikie gang the Bandidos, which has a clubhouse at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast.
Sources say the gang, comprising young Muslim men who sport “SOI” tattoos, has sprung up on the Glitter Strip relatively recently.
While only small in membership, the gang is coming under increasing attention from police investigating bikie links to crimes involving drugs, guns and violence.
“They are relatively new on the Gold Coast scene but seem to be involving themselves in some scary things,” a source said.
“They are associated with the Bandidos. Some of the members are ex-Iraqi soldiers with weapons training, so it’s quite a worry”
The Courier-Mail understands that apart from the Bin Laden photos, police did not find any terrorism-related material at the Soldiers of Islam member’s house.
Middle Eastern gangs, while active in Sydney, have only recently been making their presence felt in Queensland and particularly on the Gold Coast. Continue Reading →
Burka debate in Australia. Radio program
Interesting and very short clip from a radio program in Australia
Australia: male journalists ordered out of courtroom while Muslim woman testifies without niqab.
I predicted this. I knew it would only be a matter of time before sharia standards would be granted formal legitimacy and folded into western court proceedings. This woman refused to remove her niqab at a previous hearing, so to satisfy her irrational sensibilities, the judge decided that sacrificing Australia’s own laws of gender equality to suit Islamic gender apartheid practices would be a fair cultural exchange.

Muslim woman removes niqab to give evidence, as male journalists are barred from court
- From: AAP

A MUSLIM woman who sparked a national debate when she asked to give evidence in court wearing a niqab has uncovered her face to testify in a fraud trial.
Tasneem, whose last name has been suppressed by the Perth District Court, gave evidence for just 15 minutes today in the trial of Anwar Sayed.
Mr Sayed, 50, is accused of falsifying student numbers at the Muslim Ladies College of Australia in Kenwick, in Perth’s south, to fraudulently obtain part of $1.125 million the school received in state and federal government grants.
Tasneem, 36, has worn a niqab since the age of 17 and wanted to wear it while giving evidence in the trial.
But Judge Shauna Deane in August ruled she must remove the face-covering garment so that the jury could see her facial expressions.
Tasneem only removes the niqab when she visits the doctor and dentist, at customs in airports and when she has her driver’s licence photograph taken.
Judge Deane last week ruled that to make it easier for Tasneem to give evidence comfortably, men would be removed from the court.
The only men allowed in the courtroom while she gave her evidence today were male jurors, the judge’s usher, Mr Sayed and the lawyers.
While female journalists were allowed to stay in the court to report on Tasneem’s evidence, male journalists were ejected.
A lawyer representing Network Ten and the Seven and Nine networks made an application on Friday to alter the order so that male journalists could remain in court, but the application was rejected.
Giving evidence via video link today, Tasneem appeared comfortable, flanked by a security person and a support person, both of whom were female.
During her brief evidence she explained that she worked at the school as an Islamic studies teacher for two hours a day, five days a week.
Tasneem said that “from time to time” some students would go overseas on holiday or to visit family, mostly in Afghanistan, so it was possible they were enrolled at the school, but did not attend for long periods of time.
Mr Sayed is the director of Muslim Link Australia, which runs the Muslim Ladies College.
He allegedly knowingly signed a declaration that in the 2006/07 census year, more than 180 students were enrolled in the school when there were 80 to 100 fewer than that.
The school received about $164,000 from the state government and about $961,000 from the federal government.
The trial continues.

Under the cover-up
A bikini ban for a Ramadan event at a public pool should not be taken lightly as it puts fundamental freedoms of Western society on the line.
A COUPLE of weeks ago a report surfaced about families being ordered to cover up before attending a public event to avoid offending Muslims during next year’s Ramadan in August. It involved VCAT approving a bikini ban for a community event to be held at Dandenong Oasis, a municipal pool. Dandenong Council, and pool managers YMCA, successfully sought an exemption from the Equal Opportunity Act to compel ”participants aged 10 and over” to ”ensure their bodies are covered from waist to knee and the entire torso extending to the upper arms”, and to refrain from wearing ”transparent clothing”.
Controversy erupted: tabloid TV lapped it up, talkback callers fulminated, bloggers pontificated, politicians, including Premier John Brumby, were quizzed. Amid the outrage came the predictable and inflammatory warnings that the ruling was evidence of a sinister plan to ”Islamise” Australia.
The ruling enforcing what VCAT described as ”minimum dress requirements” for Muslims was certainly novel. I’m not aware of any other instance in which the tribunal has made a religious dress code mandatory at a public venue – as opposed to a place of worship – let alone at the local swimming pool. In fact, the ruling was so novel that for some it simply couldn’t sink in.
Perhaps this is why some of the fair-minded people in my orbit initially doubted the story’s veracity. After reluctantly conceding it was indeed true, they still thought the thunderous response over the top. We’re talking about a one-off, two-hour event, they argued. It will be held when the pool is closed to the public and normally used for a women-only swimming session, the attendees of which are almost all Muslims. And hey, aren’t we all covering up to be sun-smart now anyway? (OK, maybe not in the middle of August.) Let’s keep things in perspective, they said.
Well, I agree perspective is crucial. And seen from a wider and deeper perspective, the Dandenong pool episode is neither trivial nor insignificant. It is but one example of human rights laws producing outcomes that restrict rights. It raises tough questions about how far public authorities ought to go in accommodating cultural practices that sit uneasily with mainstream Western values.
And it exposes some disturbing and hypocritical currents in progressive thought, a point best and fittingly made by a Dandenong-based Muslim women’s group, set up to help newly arrived Afghan migrants integrate into Australian society. ”I’ve spoken to a lot of women; they don’t want this,” Women’s Better World president Mandy Ahmadi told the Dandenong suburban newspaper, flagging her campaign to overturn the ruling. ”Enough is enough … why run from the Taliban to come to this?”

Australian Dhummitude
Sadly even the Oz don’t get it. Tolerance means you let the Muslims dress how they want if they want to join your activities or use your facilities. It does not, was never meant to, and must not ever mean that other people dumb down their choices to suit Islamic sensitivities. That is begging for tyranny.

UPDATE 12.35pm: A PLAN to force families to cover up to avoid offending Muslims at a public event has triggered furious debate.
An overwhelming 94 per cent of heraldsun.com.au readers disagree with the legal ruling approving the contentious ban during next year’s Ramadan.
So far the Premier John Brumby has refused to weigh into the debate about the event, saying he will wait to see the VCAT ruling before making any comment.
VCAT has approved a ban on uncovered shoulders and thighs for a community event to be held at the Dandenong Oasis, a municipal pool.
“Participants aged 10 and over must ensure their bodies are covered from waist to knee and the entire torso extending to the upper arms,” a request by Dandenong City Council and the YMCA states in an exemption application to the Equal Opportunities Act.

FIVE Muslim men planned an armed terrorist attack on a Sydney army base to further the cause of Islam by killing as many people as possible
From The Herald Sun Oz. by way of TROP
FIVE Muslim men planned an armed terrorist attack on a Sydney army base to further the cause of Islam by killing as many people as possible, a Supreme Court jury heard today.
Prosecutor Nick Robinson SC said the men took a number of steps in preparation for the attack, including sending one of their number to Somalia to obtain a fatwa or religious decree to permit the plan to go ahead.
Mr Robinson said members of the group used the code “the man who has gone to Perth” when talking about Yacqub Khayre’s trip in search of a fatwa.
The plan was that five or six men armed with high powered weapons would enter the Holsworthy Army Base and fire at and kill as many people as possible before they were either killed or overwhelmed.
They planned to use weapons that could fire at least 60 bullets.
On trial are Saney Edow Aweys, 26, Mr Khayre, 22, Abdirahman Mohamud Ahmed, 25, and Wissam Mahmoud Fattal, 33,and Nayef El Sayed, 25.
They have all pleaded not guilty to conspiring with each other and persons unknown between February 1 and August 4 last year to do acts in preparation for, or planning a terrorist act or acts. Continue Reading →

A strict Muslim woman who says she has never shown her face in public, has been ordered by a female judge to remove her veil when she gives evidence in an Australian court.
District Court judge Shauna Deane said in the Western Australian Supreme Court today that in the interest of a fair trial against a man accused of fraud, she should not be allowed to wear a niqab, which allows only the eyes to be seen.
The 36-year-old woman, known only as Tasneem, said she was a strict Muslim and it was against her religion to show her face anywhere except in the confines of her home. Continue Reading →
