Times Square bomber took oath, didn’t mean it

I’m surprised the media was allowed to report this. After all, it gives the impression that Muslims may say they believe in Western Civilization and it’s laws, but really, are planning to kill us and undermine all we have built. Maybe because this is Canadian media, or maybe this came out before they can do damage control at CAIR and the White House. Anyway, interesting report I think.

The failed Times Square bomber was jailed for life today for his plot to bring carnage to the heart of New York.

Pakistani immigrant Faisal Shahzad had packed explosives into the back of an SUV, but the detonator failed, sparing crowds of tourists.

Calling himself a Muslim solider, Shahzad had pleaded guilty in June to 10 terrorism and weapons counts.

Today, as he was sentenced to life imprisonment with no parole, he defiantly warned the court: ‘Brace yourself, the war with Muslims has just begun.’

He added: ‘The defeat of the U.S. is imminent, inshallah.’

During in a five-munite outburst, the 31-year-old thanked the judge for the sentence and said he was ‘happy with the deal that God has given me’.

Shahzad, a former finance worker from Connecticut was arrested two days after his attempted bombing on May 1.

He had parked a sport utility vehicle full of explosive materials in the crowded area and attempted to set the bomb off as he fled.

But the bomb fizzled before it could do any harm, doomed by faulty wiring and ingredients such as a low-grade fertiliser that couldn’t explode.

For greatest impact, he chose a crowded section of Times Square by studying an online streaming video of the so-called ‘Crossroads of the World’, prosecutors said. Continue Reading →

Gay Londoners, It’s time to preach that homosexuality is a sin.

Gay rights throughout the Western world from Israel to Canada have all been achieved by one central right. The right to free political speech. Now that speech is being taken away from anyone who speaks even a few degrees away from the current, politically correct orthodoxy. The time has come for the gay community of London, a community I’m sure is big enough, as was the gay community in Canada when another equally antagonistic reverend published an anti-gay diatribe in a Red Deer Alberta Church newsletter, to come forward and defend this man’s rights to free speech.

The best way to do it would be to openly preach that homosexuality is a sin and be as gay as you want about it at the time, and demand to be arrested. No worries I’m sure you guys can think of something to do for the few hours you will be in jail, but you will be doing a real service to the one right that really matters and that is the right that earned gay people as a group all they enjoy now in the Western word.

There are few guarantees in life, but here is one of them…

Once they have taken freedom of political opinion from the other guy, it is only a matter of time before they take it from you.

Peter Mackay and the cancelling of Imam Delic

There are stories that the mainstream media miss until they blow up. The case of Zijad Delic and his invitation to speak at an Islamic History Month event at military headquarters is a case in point.

As far as I can tell, no major media outlet picked up the story before Delic, an Imam and executive director of the Canadian Islamic Congress, had his appearance cancelled.

Now there is speculation mounting that conservative Christian groups, led by people like Charles McVety were the ones orchestrating this. That’s not exactly the case here.

The move against Delic started in an email campaign, the first notice of which I spotted around September 29th. It urged a call to action, for people to complain to the government that Islam was being given a privileged place over other religions with an official celebration of Islamic History Month at National Defence Headquarters. It also included the original DND announcement.

Delic was scheduled to give a 20 minute talk, there were to be a pair of “cultural demonstrations” and cultural food tasting. While the rest of the program does go ahead, the talk by Delic will not.

One of the main questions in the early emails I received on this was “Why is Islam being given special treatment?”

Going on to point out that other religions are not given special months at National Defence Headquarters. It’s true there was an Anglican bishop that read a prayer when the new Governor General was sworn in last week but he could not even say the name of his God, referring to “Creator Spirit” and generally sounding like he was reading a United Nations brochure.

From the email campaign the story was picked up by bloggers such as Blazing Cat Fur, Five Feet of Fury, Free Canuckistan and others with similarly colourful names. These bloggers and their readers pushed the story for two or three days until the talk by Delic was cancelled late on Friday. As far as I can tell none of these bloggers is the Charles McVety type. Dutch Court Rejects Wilders Push to Change Judges at Muslim-Insult Trial

The Amsterdam district court rejected a request by Freedom Party Leader Geert Wilders, who is on trial for inciting hatred and insulting Muslims, to replace the judges hearing his case because they may be prejudiced.

“There are no weighty indications that the judges have given the impression of being prejudiced,” Judge Frans Bauduin, who was brought in to rule on the impartiality question, said at the court today. The trial, which was halted yesterday, will continue with the current judges tomorrow at 9 a.m. local time.

Presiding Judge Jan Moors yesterday, on the first day of the trial, told Wilders the court “reads newspapers and watches television” and that Wilders has been blamed by others for being “good in taking a stand and then avoiding a discussion.” By choosing not to testify “it seems you’re doing that today as well.”

Wilders, who has agreed to support the country’s new minority government, challenged the impartiality of the three- judge panel because of what Moors said, claiming “a fair trial isn’t possible anymore.”

“The words used by the presiding judge in that last sentence were chosen unfortunately,” Bauduin said. “They’ve given the requestor a wrong impression.”

Wilders, 47, is being prosecuted after complaints following a 2007 Dutch newspaper editorial he wrote that called the Koran “fascist” and compared it to Adolf Hitler’s book Mein Kampf. A year later, he released the movie “Fitna,” in which he calls on Muslims to rip out “hate-preaching” verses from the book.

The Fraud Case against CAIR Advances

The Federal District Court in Washington, DC today ruled in favor of five African American and Pakistani American Muslims seeking damages from the Council American Islamic Relations, (CAIR) for committing fraud. Judge Paul Friedman of the DC District Court ruled against dismissal of an action brought by Muslim plaintiffs against CAIR, a Muslim brotherhood front and one of several unindicted co-conspirators in the Federal Dallas Holy Land Foundation Trial.
An earlier RICO action brought against CAIR by the same plaintiffs was rejected by the federal court in DC on technical grounds although it acknowledged that fraud was committed by CAIR.
A Center for Security Policy news release noted today’s important ruling;
Federal judge Paul Friedman in the U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia has denied a motion to dismiss complaints by five former clients of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
CAIR had adivsked federal court judge Paul L. Friedman to dismiss the fraud cases on several grounds, but the judge refused CAIR’s request in its entirety. (Judge Friedman did dismiss one duplicative claim of consumer fraud based on D.C. law because he allowed an identical claim under Virginia law, ruling that Virginia law applied in the case).
The five former clients had earlier this year filed two separate lawsuits in federal court alleging common law and statutory fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and intentional infliction of emotional distress against CAIR, a self-described Muslim public interest civil rights law firm. These two lawsuits follow an earlier lawsuit which had also alleged that CAIR’s fraudulent conduct amounted to racketeering, a federal RICO crime. In that case, the court dismissed the RICO counts concluding that CAIR’s conduct as alleged was fraudulent but not a technical violation of RICO.
The two new federal civil complaints were filed in the federal district court for the District of Columbia on January 6, 2010, and served on January 13, 2010.  CAIR filed its motion to dismiss on February 26, 2010, and the matter was fully briefed by May 15, 2010.

CIC’s Islamic History Month Canada? Not on my dime.

The affair concerning the barred Imam and DND is fast becoming even more mired in controversy and confusion. Imam Zijad Delic has remarked in a purely defensive move there is no truth to the allegation, adding it compromises Canada’s interests and the well being of our troops in Afghanistan. Mrs. Valiante, president of the CIC, called Mr. MacKay’s decision a crass attempt to pander to the far-right, evangelical base of the Conservative party by smearing the representatives of Muslim and Arab communities.

Meanwhile, Mr. MacKay defended his position in the House, reiterating that his decision was based on the fact that the Canadian Islamic Congress is deemed an extreme outfit whose sentiments are not welcome. Jason Kenney referenced the group in a 2009 speech in which he said it is part of an ongoing review. We are warned time and again by both security experts and moderate Muslim groups of the increasing infiltration of government departments by those actively seeking to impose Islamist standards. Yet despite this, celebrations of Islamic History Month went ahead at DND even without the Imam.

Those critical of MacKay’s decision are calling for an inquiry. I agree there should be one; but chances are not for the same reasons. I have no quarrel with this government’s approach to combating extremism as a matter of fact, I support the initiatives. But, I do want to know why Islamic History Month Canada, the creation of a publicly known extremist group, continues on it’s traveling road show every year.

I want to know why my tax dollars funded it’s launch with an appearance at the Ottawa Police Station last Friday and why Kingston became the first Ontarian city in 2007 to proclaim CIC’s Islamic History Month a yearly event, signed by proclamation by its mayor. I want to know why it would be seen as suitable, that last years IHMC’s theme revolved around ‘Islamic solutions to finance’; an introduction to sharia finance/banking alternatives in Canada. I want to know why on October 25, a portion of my taxes will fund a contest for Muslim school children to participate in a contest for this year’s theme ‘Islam and the Environment’ to be held at Dalton’s Queen’s Park while my family struggles to pay him more in increased taxes for his costly eco-initiatives.

But most of all I want to know this: why do our government officials (of all parties) continue to host the CIC’s advancement of Islamist standards through their creation of Islamic History Month to any degree while simultaneously denouncing extremism? We’re seeking outreach with the wrong folks and are mistaken if we believe such bridge building efforts are not in fact, sharia compliant.

Family accused of murder, conspiracy in deaths of four relatives

Pre-trial motions start Tuesday in the case of members of a Montreal family accused of murder and conspiracy in the deaths of four female relatives in June 2009 in Kingston, Ont.

Mohammad Shafia, 57, his wife Tooba Mohammad Yahya, 40, and their son Hamed, 19, face four counts each of first-degree murder and four counts of conspiracy.

They are accused of killing three members of their family, teenage sisters, and Shafia’s first wife.

The bodies of sisters Zainab, 19, Sahari, 17, and Geeti, 13, along with Rona Amir Mohammad, 50, were found in a submerged car near the Kingston Mills Locks June 30, 2009.

The mother, father and son were arrested in Montreal on July 22, 2009. They have been in custody since.

The family is of Afghan origin, but had lived in Dubai for many years before moving to Montreal in 2007.

The victims and the accused had all been returning to Montreal from a visit to Niagara Falls. Continue Reading →

Internal Dissent: Should Canada’s military pay for a full-time Muslim advisory panel?

Every morning, the National Post editorial board start their work day by discussing the assignments that lie ahead — editorial topics, blog posts, op-ed columns, etc. Typically, the process is a swift, unremarkable division of work load and writing duties amongst the editorial board members and columnists with a known interest in timely news items. Today, while discussing the decision by National Defence Minister Peter MacKay to cancel a planned speech by Imam Zijad Delic, sharp divisions emerged between Comment section editor Jonathan Kay and Post columnist Barbara Kay. Their discussion is reproduced below in truncated form.

Barbara Kay: Why is there a paid “Muslim Working Group” permanently embedded in at National Defence, whose job it is to advise the government on their foreign policy wherever it touches on areas of Muslim density? Why not a “Christian Working Group” or a “Sikh Working Group”? Can you imagine if there were a “Jewish Working Group” to advise on the Middle East? Don’t make me laugh. To me this is a scandal, and I don’t understand why it has not been addressed. Some of the people in this group hold very insalubrious views or are attached to groups with discomfiting agendas.

Jonathan Kay: If we were at war with people who claimed to be fighting for Sikhism, or Judaism, or Christianity, it would be perfectly legitimate and beneficial for Defence to have working groups that would help them understand how best to wage the battle against those fighting under the banner of those creeds. I don’t know why the DND’s effort in this area is a matter of controversy among Canadian conservatives — unless it were a forum for radicals, which, given MacKay’s action in this case, it clearly is not.

Barbara: Should we have had a German working group during the Second World War? If the government wishes to know the views of Muslims — not self-appointed spokespeople, which these members are — they can canvas them in any number of ways. Or they can hire an ad hoc consultant for discrete problems. And from what I have seen, non-Muslim experts are more objective on Muslim cultures than many Muslims are. Once you have embedded a group in your department, you are going to find it hard to disagree with what they tell you and still maintain a collegial relationship. Sorry, but this is an unacceptable commingling of church and state, and I consider it indefensible for any religious group to have such an entitlement. Nobody approached Tarek Fatah or Salim Mansur to be part of this group, which tells you a lot right there. Why not include these experts, some of Canada’s most reasonable, patriotic Muslims? This is more typical than interesting. I would like to add one thing though. A sign in this demo said: “Jesus fed the poor – Healed the sick- The right wing would call him a socialist”

This is simply untrue. The ‘Right Wing’ would simply say that each person should have the choice about what to do with their own wealth. That many in fact, sorry scratch that, ALL of histories great philanthropists have been people who decided to do that kind of work with the wealth they themselves created. So in fact, it is purely capitalism….

It is when Jesus said “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” that is when he tipped his hand as a socialist.

A day at a show-trial. Geert Wilders being hung out to dry

Today, it was the 1st real trial day in the prosecution against Geert Wilders and his opinions. The event is broadcasted live on Dutch state television and it’s quite a story:

The first amazing thing was that the court wanted to show Fitna in court. That means that for the first time, Fitna will be broadcasted on Dutch national television.

Second surprise was that at the start of the trial, Wilders his lawyer, unexpectedly stated that Wilders would use his right not to answer any questions during his trial, as he as his lawyer had advised him to do so.

His lawyer also asked the court to allow mister Wilders to make a small 2 minute statement in order for him to explain this decision. During the short statement Wilders defended free speech and declared that he has said what he has said and does not take anything back from it. Also he added that he can’t guarantee that anything that is attributed to him is also actually said by him.

The president of the court Jan Moorse then wanted to debate Wilders his decision, but again Wilders repeated that he wouldn’t not answer any questions in court. Then judge Jan Moorse amazingly did not accept his statement in which he took his right not to answer the court and even allowed him selves to make a value judgment about it. Judge Moorse said: that in the press Wilders has been criticized to make statements he is not willing to defend during debates and that he now seems to be doing the same thing here in court.
