Elie Wiesel resigns from the “Genocide Institute Canada,” dissociates himself from Emir Ramic

“Elie Wiesel cannot sit together with Emir Ramic in the same organization. He does hereby resign from the ‘International Team of Experts’ of the Institute for the Research of Genocide Canada. Thank you, and please do confirm receipt of this message.”

This terse note, sent by the Elie Wiesel Foundation to the Bosnian-Muslim “Institute” on April 14, is a welcome and long overdue development. Professor Wiesel is to be commended for dissociating himself from Emir Ramic and all that he and his Jihadist cohorts stand for. This fraudulent disinformation outfit now stands unmasked for what it is and terminally discredited.
JULIA GORIN WRITES: Professor Wiesel and his foundation are to be commended for the integrity and courage they have demonstrated by this act. All the more since the political fallout and pressure against him now — including, potentially, by senior government officials and other prominent types around the world — may be immense. Dear Mr. Schwartz: I’m a Jewish columnist who recently stumbled onto the fact that Mr. Elie Wiesel is indicated as an expert adviser on the website for the Institute for Research on Genocide in Canada (IRGC).Last Thursday, the IRGC accused the scholar and author Dr. Srdja Trifkovic of “genocide denial” and influenced the Canadian authorities to ban him from entering the country. A scrapbook found at Wellington Menezes de Oliveira´s home, who on last Thursday has murdered 12 students in a school at Realengo neighbourhood, Rio de Janeiro, points to his belonging or has links to a radical Islamist group.

In the manuscripts, Wellington revealed he belong to an extremist group, said he passed at least 4 hours a day reading the Koran, the sacred book for Muslims, displayed fascination by terrorist acts and quotes two foreigners, Abdul and Phillip, representatives of the organization in Rio. “When I was introduced to them I revealed everything, I was very accepted by them and I felt there was a great delight”, wrote Wellington, who, in another passage, shows the intention of visiting Islamic countries, like Egypt and Malaysia. Wellington´s body, who had commited suicide when caught by the police during the killing spree at school, remains at Rio´s mortuary and could be buried by the State if anyone requests it. The five adopted brothers are scared about the possibility of being lynched if they show up publicly and don´t want to attend the funeral.

For the same reason, the neighbours of the house where the shooter lived are very scared, because strangers have been vandalizing the residence and properties nearby.

‘Muslims are taught to hate America’: 9/11 Senate hearing descends into shouting match after activist testifies

MAILONLINE… A hearing on homeland security descended into a heated and angry dispute after an Arab-American activist testified that she was taught as a youngster to ‘hate Jews’ and ‘hate America’.

The debate over Islamic terror turned into a shouting match as Nonie Darwish, director of Former Muslims United, spoke at the State Senate committee meeting in New York.

One senator gripped a Koran in his and accused the human rights activist of spreading ‘hate and poison’ at the hearing held to study how vulnerable New York City is to another act of terror ten years after September 11.

‘Check what’s going on, it’s not a secret’ said Ms Darwish, who was educated in Egypt and came to the U.S. in 1978.

RIO – In an interview to a local radio station in Rio de Janeiro, Rosilane Menezes, sister of the shooter of Realengo, affirmed that Wellington Menezes de Oliveira was adopted, was strange, reserved and with no friends.

She also said that her brother was mentally unstable and 8 months ago he had moved to her house in Realengo, on the west of Rio de Janeiro.

“He was very focused in things related to the Islam and had let his beard grow a lot. He was very strange, used to spend all day on the internet reading themes related to Islam, he was very strange and reserved”, she said.

Wellington left a letter with phrases that made no sense, but with fundamentalist characteristics, informed the officer Djalma Beltrame.

-He used to go on Islamic websites and used the internet to have access to things that wasn’t part of our people. He is crazy. Just a hallucinated person could do this to kids – affirmed the commandant, who said that the letter was handed to the Homicide Officer.

Mississauga charity loses licence to issue tax receipts

A Mississauga charity that works in the Palestinian territories has lost its licence to issue tax receipts.

The federal government’s decision to pull the status of the International Relief Fund for the Afflicted and Needy Canada (IRFAN-Canada) occurs after years of tax audits and legal battles – and after prominent Canadian conservatives, including Stockwell Day, began publicly alleging that the charity is tied to Hamas terrorists.

Records show the charity spent nearly $10-million in 2009, the year that a United Nations agency credited it for helping to build a school for Palestinian girls.

The federal government’s tax authority, the Canada Revenue Agency, announced it had delisted the charity in Friday’s Canada Gazette.

The CRA did not specify reasons, and a spokesman would not comment further. “I don’t have any information, you’ll have to contact us next week,” said Philippe Brideau.

The tax authority announced a year ago that it was temporarily suspending IRFAN-Canada’s status for bookkeeping offences.

A lawyer for the charity said its staff are “shocked and disappointed” but will persist. Continue Reading →

Somali Canadians grapple with terrorism’s appeal to youth

THESTAR… She grew up on a quiet, tree-lined street near Martin Grove Rd. and Finch Ave. in northwest Toronto. She wore jeans, babysat her younger siblings, watched movies with friends and sometimes, though not often, played truant at school. About a year ago, the 19-year-old enrolled in university.

That was her life — until about a year and a half ago.

Then she started to change. She suddenly became religious, began to wear a headscarf and long skirt, the traditional Somali dress. Her views changed as radically as her clothing. She began to talk fervently about “injustice” in Somalia, her native country, and the foreign powers occupying it.

“Her behaviour was disruptive,” said a family friend, who did not want to be identified.

The teenager and her best friend, both of whom are believed to have gone to Somalia and joined Al-Shabaab, fit the pattern of young Somali-Canadians leaving their families to fight with the Islamist youth militia. At least 11 dead in massacre at Rio de Janeiro school

Rio de Janeiro – At least 11 people, mostly children, died Thursday and more that 15 were wounded when an armed man attacked a school in Realengo in the poor suburbs of Rio de Janeiro.

Police initially said that 13 people had died, but Rio de Janeiro’s Health Ministry later lowered the death toll.

According to a preliminary police report, the attacker – a 24- year-old former student at the school – was among the dead after shooting himself in the head. He attacked Tasso da Silveira school, where some 400 students ages 9-14 were in classes.

Police Colonel Djalma Beltrami said the killer used two handguns and a lot of ammunition. The suspect left behind a letter, in which he anticipated committing suicide after the attack. Beltrami, however, gave no details of any possible motive.

Beltrami described the letter as ‘the words of a person who no longer believes in anything, full of sentences that made no sense and references to Islamic fundamentalism.’

Beltrami said the attacker was friendly as he went into the school, chatting with administrators and teachers and asking for permission to address the children. When he reached the third floor of the building, the suspect entered one of the classrooms and started to shoot at students, killing nine girls and one boy.

The attacker apparently committed suicide upon being chased by a police officer who had been called in by a student who managed to escape the building.

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff was ‘in shock’ over the killings, government spokesman Rodrigo Baena Soares said in Brasilia.

‘He still had a lot of ammunition in his possession. Had it not been for the arrival of the police officer, the tragedy would have been even worse,’ Beltrami said.

Roselane de Oliveira, a sister of the attacker, told Rio de Janeiro radio station Band News that the young man ‘was very strange.’

‘He had no friends, and he spent all his time on the Internet,’ she said.

In recent months, she said, he appeared to have got closer to Islam.

Police stressed, however, that there was no concrete evidence that the attack had either a religious or a political motive.

Report: Hamas, Hezbollah operatives in Brazil are planning attacks abroad

Leading Brazilian news magazine, Veja, reports that at least 20 people affiliated with al Qaida, Hezbollah and Hamas are hiding out in Brazil, raising money and recruiting followers. Haaretz

Operatives from Hamas, Hezbollah, and al Qaida are in Brazil planning attacks, raising money and recruiting followers, a leading Brazilian news magazine reported on Saturday.

The report renews prior concerns about the nation serving as a hide-out for Islamic militants.

Veja magazine, in its online edition, reported that at least 20 people affiliated with al Qaida as well as the Lebanese Shi’ite Muslim group Hezbollah, the Palestinian group Hamas and two other organizations have been hiding out in the South American country.

The magazine said these operatives have been raising money and working to incite attacks abroad. The magazine cited Brazilian police and U.S. government reports, but did not give details on specific targets or operations.

The United States has said Islamic militants have been operating in the border region between Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. Brazil has denied this, while saying it is aware that some members of Brazil’s Lebanese community legally transferred funds to the Middle East. Continue Reading →

Once again we see the marriage between Islam and leftism giving birth to the rabid baby of antisemitism, this time in Montreal. The group who organized this particular disruption is ‘Quebec Solidarity’, a group Amir Khadir is involved with and may have helped create. The same Amir Khadir who often leads the protests outside of a Montreal Shoe store because they sell, among other kinds, one brand of shoe made in Israel. I might add, this shoe store is actually in his own riding as a member of the Quebec legislature. Talk about ‘representing’.

Terror suspect no ‘direct threat’ to Canadians: RCMP

CBC…A man who was arrested in Toronto on charges that he was to join to a Somali group deemed a terrorist organization by the federal government does not pose a “direct threat” to Canadians, RCMP say.

Mohamed Hassan Hersi, 25, arrested at Pearson International Airport without incident Tuesday evening and made a brief court appearance Wednesday morning in Toronto.

He was charged with attempting to participate in terrorist activity and with providing counsel to a person to participate in terrorist activity. He will remain in custody until a Friday morning bail hearing.

“There was nothing in the investigation that would suggest a direct threat to Canadians within Canada,” said RCMP Insp. Keith Finn at a news conference Wednesday afternoon in Toronto.

“However, the issue of radicalization and of people from Canada travelling overseas and receiving that type of further indoctrination and training remains a concern to the RCMP and our partners as far as national security is concerned.”

Finn could not discuss the specifics of the charges, saying they were before the courts and they would be revealed later.

It’s alleged Hersi was bound for Cairo after a stop in London, England. He was then due to travel to Somalia “to join [the militant group] al-Shabaab and participate in their terrorist activities,” RCMP allege.

His arrest comes after a joint investigation by the RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team and the Toronto Police Service’s intelligence division.
