Tis one law for me, another for thee

Did you hear about the guy who was fired from his retail job because he was wearing a Che T shirt at a leftist rally? You know Che? Castor’s personal torturer and the man who believed in slaughtering whole villages if it meant forcing communism on the area would be achieved? You didn’t hear about that?

Well how about the civil servant who was let go because he belonged to a communist party on his own time and who wanted to destroy the capitalist system and impose a new communist order.

No? doesn’t ring a bell?

OK how about the guy who was fired from his union trades job because of his affiliations with the Occupy movement as well as taking part in other illegal protests like BDS, the belief that Israel must be destroyed by having no international commerce with them at all.

No?

Well that’s because to the best of my knowledge, none of those things ever happened.

This did though…

Chris Knowles of ICLA interviewed by Michael Coren

“They make it up as they go along, Mr Knowles a good friend of ours, is living in a Kafkaesque nightmare.

Please take the time to watch this important interview of him by Michael Coren.

“Mr Knowles was dismissed with immediate effect and without the right to appeal. Mr. Knowles was told that Leeds City Council viewed the ‘offence’ committed by Mr Knowles to be so grave, even though it has never been named nor described, that he would not even be allowed to have a disciplinary hearing at which he could refute any evidence that was brought against him. No evidence was presented against him.”

Personally I think Both of them have missed the point. It doesn’t matter one bit what this man’s values or views are. it only matters if they impact his job performance. If they cause him to make judgements that are against the purposes of his employment. The fact that both these intelligent men are even discussing what his values are mean they have lost the war already.

One could argue that the very definition of a free society is innocent until proven guilty. This means you can’t get fired for what you think, believe, or except in very specific cases, even for what clubs you belong to or what your extra-caricular activities may be unless it crosses over into your work-life in a way that negatively impacts your performance.

Sacked from Leeds City Council for his private political views.

More evidence of the soft totalitarian methods of the UK. A person should not be fired for their personal beliefs unless it can be shown that it has effected their performance at work in a negative or illegal way. I begin to see why some Canadians have noticed an influx of British immigrants recently. We may not call them refugees just yet. But…

Chris Knowles has been a good friend of mine for several years, and has known Ned (the Baron at Gates of Vienna) even longer. Up until today, Chris had been an employee of the Leeds City Council for about seventeen years. Last autumn, during the hysteria after the Breivik massacre, The Sunday Times started investigating Chris and other Brits associated with ICLA. After the ST published an article “outing” him, Chris was suspended from his job. Finally, today he was sacked. Chris has never said or done anything that would remotely warrant his being fired.

Here’s his statement posted at ICLA:

Teachers who belong to far-right groups could be kicked out school

One of the most common, and effective, tricks of the totalitarian regime is to create a label most can agree is unacceptable to the (classically) liberal mind, then paint that label on to any group you want to get rid of. The Soviets did it, the Nazis did it, all psychotic genocidal regimes do it and frankly even moderate and soft post-democratic regimes do it to a lesser degree.

This is the UK doing it. Pretend the EDL are ‘far-right’ and ignore the fact that center-traditional Islam in fact reflects what people think of as ‘far-right’ almost to the letter (loathing of Jews, contempt for women, religious fanatics etc) and then pass laws saying that people who can be called far right, as opposed to those who really are, can be summarily dismissed from any job in government. And of course, in a socialist state like the UK, probably close to 65% of all jobs are government. I believe it was Mark Steyn who pointed out that the British Health Services are the world’s third largest employer after the Chinese military and the India railway company.

Also, if the UK teachers union is anything like the American or Canadian teachers unions it is virtually impossible to fire a teacher for anything short of actual cannibalism of students. So if they can fire them for a trumped up version of political opinion, the UK will have sunk that much deeper into a very bad place indeed.

Scotland’s teaching regulator is facing calls to strike off members of the profession with links to far-right groups such as the British National Party and the Scottish Defence League.

Members of the country’s largest teaching union, the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), have tabled a motion to their upcoming AGM calling on the General Teaching Council for Scotland and the Scottish Government to “minimise the influence” of such groups in schools.

However, it is expected that delegates at this week’s meeting will go a step further and call for members of the profession with links to extremist groups to be removed from the teaching register.

Currently, teachers working in Scotland’s schools do not have to declare whether they are the member of a political party or other such group.

The General Teaching Council for England was axed after it failed to take action against a BNP activist who described immigrants as “savage animals” on an internet forum.

How Political Correctness Is Transforming British Education

British teachers are also reluctant to discuss the medieval Crusades, in which Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem: lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques.

In Cheshire, two students at the Alsager High School were punished by their teacher for refusing to pray to Allah as part of their religious education class.

In Scotland, 30 non-Muslim children from the Parkview Primary School recently were required to visit the Bait ur Rehman Ahmadiyya mosque in the Yorkhill district of Glasgow (videos here and here). At the mosque, the children were instructed to recite the shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith which states: “There is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger.” Muslims are also demanding that Islamic preachers be sent to every school in Scotland to teach children about Islam, ostensibly in an effort to end negative attitudes about Muslims.

British schools are increasingly dropping the Jewish Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, according to a report entitled, Teaching Emotive and Controversial History, commissioned by the Department for Education and Skills.

British teachers are also reluctant to discuss the medieval Crusades, in which Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem: lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques.

In an effort to counter “Islamophobia” in British schools, teachers now are required to teach “key Muslim contributions such as Algebra and the number zero” in math and science courses, even though the concept of zero originated in India.

‘I thought the innocent were protected … it’s been a hard lesson’: Celebrity photographer kicked by Muslim woman she tried to help tells of pain at being charged as a racist

Ordeal: Cinnamon Heathcote-Drury says the experience left her ‘terrified’

She has heard them many times over the past few days, but speaking the words ‘racially aggravated assault’ still causes Cinnamon Heathcote-Drury’s entire body to shake and tears to stream down her face.

Her name may have been cleared, but it is obvious the scars of being accused of a vicious hate crime will be more difficult to erase.

Last Thursday, a jury at Isleworth Crown Court in West London took just 15 minutes to acquit her of shoving a pregnant Muslim woman to the floor and calling her husband a terrorist during a row in Tesco. Despite Miss Heathcote-Drury’s relief at the verdict, her sense of bewilderment at what has happened remains her overwhelming emotion.

The investigation that led to the celebrated photographer – whose work hangs in the National Portrait Gallery – being tried was described in court as ‘a shambles’.

To her, it often felt like being trapped in a dystopian world in which she could not make her version of events heard, no matter how hard she tried.

Although, in fact, she says she was the victim of assault, her own accusations were dismissed while her accusers’ claims were pursued by police.

Today the elegant 41-year-old is exhausted, but grateful finally to have her chance to explain the truth about this strange and disturbing case.

‘I’ve been going out of my mind since this all happened,’ she says. ‘I’ve been on antidepressants and anti-anxiety pills because of the stress.

‘I didn’t even tell any of my friends about the charges until April, because I couldn’t bear to say them; they were too hideous. I have a lot of friends of different ethnic backgrounds and I didn’t want to plant even the smallest doubt in their minds about me.

‘Before this, I believed that if you were innocent and told the truth, you would be protected by the system, but I’ve learned some very hard lessons.

‘I kept waiting for my story to be investigated, and it never was. Of course it was an enormous relief to be acquitted so quickly, but I find it absolutely terrifying that the case against me could have gone as far as it did.

‘The sense of powerlessness at what was happening was overwhelming.’

NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY STAR: THE NEWS IN CINNAMON’S PICTURES

Eleven of Cinnamon Heathcote-Drury’s portraits hang in the National Portrait Gallery, including a pensive shot of London Mayor Boris Johnson and one of broadcaster Zeinab Badawi.

Her career began in 2000 when she asked Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman to pose for the gallery section on news gatherers.

Her other subjects include politician Kenneth Clarke and War Horse author Michael Morpurgo.

The couple became infuriated. ‘The husband came up behind me and said in my ear, “You f*** off,” which I found very intimidating,’ Miss Heathcote-Drury says. ‘I wanted to get out of the shop as quickly as possible, but he approached me again.’

She called for a security guard and when one arrived, he began speaking to the man. Meanwhile, Miss Heathcote-Drury, who had paid for her shopping, was making her escape down the aisle when she claims she felt a sharp pain in her left shin and stumbled.

‘The woman was standing with her hand on her hip and smirking. She wanted to humiliate me. Then she hit me on the left cheek.’

According to Miss Heathcote-Drury, a struggle ensued in which she was kicked in the right shin and her hat was wrenched from her head before the woman lost her balance and fell.

The security guard called the police while the couple continued to put their shopping through the till.

As usual, leftist utopian speech, thought and ‘discrimination’ laws selectively applied in the UK as they are in Canada

Nine images of flat advertisements, each citing the desired race or sexuality of the prospective tenant

“To let” advertisements that specify a particular race or religion are visible in newsagents windows in many areas of London. But are they breaking the law?

Today overt racial discrimination is both illegal and socially unacceptable.

But it is now possible to find advertisements seeking tenants for rented accommodation which specify race, or other characteristics, in a way which some experts believe breaks the law.

Newsagents in different areas of London carry adverts saying:

  • “Double bedroom available… Asian only”
  • “Double room to let Gujarati (Indian) only”
  • Close to the station and bus stops (Filipino only)
  • “Professional single lady or Sri Lanka professional couple”
  • “House for rent… only Asian families”

And even on the Gumtree website you can find the occasional advert for flats in London and Birmingham specifying race.

Amsterdam Gets a Harsh Lesson in Islam 101

From Front Page Mag

By Bruce Bawer:

In January 2009 a Dutch court ordered Geert Wilders to be prosecuted for offending Muslims and inciting anti-Muslim hatred.  The complaint was based not on slurs, as such, but on factual statements made by Wilders, in his film Fitna and in various public venues, about Islamic beliefs and about actions inspired by those beliefs.  In June 2011, after a prolonged legal ordeal that cost Wilders greatly in time, money, and emotion, and that represented a disgrace to the tradition of Dutch liberty, he was finally acquitted.

In February of this year, the Islamic Students Association at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) in Amsterdam invited Haitham al-Haddad, a British sharia scholar, to participate in a symposium, but when some of al-Haddad’s sophisticated theological statements about Jews (the usual “pigs and dogs” business) and about other topics came to light, members of the Dutch Parliament spoke out against the invitation, a media storm erupted, and VU canceled its plans.  Whereupon a venue in Amsterdam called De Balie, which sponsors debates, talks, plays, and sundry cultural and artistic events (and whose café is a good spot to grab a late-morning coffee), stepped in and offered al-Haddad their stage.

Filip Dewinter threatened with death: Mini-sentence for Islamist

Translation by Hermes:

From this Austrian site:

Threats and violent attacks against the Vlaams-Belang-Politician Filip
Dewinter are part of his everyday life. The criminals get usually mild sentences.
Foto: www.filipdewinter.be

A 33 year old salafist from Geneva who threatened the Vlaams-Belang Politician Filip Dewinter with death, was now sentenced by a criminal court in Antwerp to 46 hours of voluntary social work and a fine of 275 euros on probation plus one euro as moral compensation. He must do  the social work in a center for the support of integration.

El Chazoini Lishssin, a salafist muslim from Dubai, announced on September last year that he and his brothers would kill Filip Dewinter and his wife. Lishssin pronounced the death threats against the leader of Vlaams Belang just the same day as the islam critical party was holding a demonstration against the planned building of a mosque at Ground Zero in New York in the day of the 9th anniversary of the 9:11 attacks. Because the threats seemed to be serious, Dewinter lodged a complaint at the police, which lead to the tracing of Lishssin.

The criminal court of Antwerp determined the full veracity of the facts and also found that there was neither self-defense nor any other other exculpatory factor. Dewinter himself was not satisfied with the verdict of the court, or course. “48 hours of social work and a fine of 275 euros is a ridiculous sentence. These kind of death threats are not acceptable. The final goal of it was to intimidate and silence a politician  through death threats” The flemish politician said. This kind of sentence has no deterrent effect. The minimal sentence is almost an incentive to repeat such death threats, Dewinter opined after the process. The loose punishment stands in blatant contradiction to the “zero-tolerance policy” against muslim extremism announced by the minister of justice Annemie Turtelboom.

BBC attempts to report important news, while using the official state ideology to sanitize it to the extent possible

I guess the narrative of Islam as the religion of peace must be in real trouble in the UK when the BBC actually talk about Islamic extremist threats even while they soft peddle it.

I still find it amusing when the main stream, allegedly news reporters use invented words such as, “Islamists” and if you ask them what it means, you get the deer in the headlights.
