Tommy Robinson Turned Back at JFK

English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson flew in to John F. Kennedy airport in New York tonight. He planned to attend the demonstration against the Ground Zero mosque on September 11th, along with fellow members of the EDL and other European sympathizers who have come to the USA for the occasion.

According to EDL members who accompanied Mr. Robinson to New York, he was met by two policemen (or possibly two TSA officers) as soon as he stepped off the plane. They took him into custody and almost immediately put him on a plane back to London.

It’s like when Geert Wilders was sent back to the Netherlands from Heathrow, only a much longer flight. My sympathies go out to Tommy Robinson over the Atlantic right now, sitting through seventeen grueling hours of plane travel at one go.

The ostensible reason why he was deported was that he had filled out his entry form improperly, but it’s obvious that the British authorities had informed their DHS counterparts that he was coming, and advised them to send him back using any available pretext.

One of my EDL contacts says he was shadowed by British police at Heathrow right up until the moment he got on the plane. It’s even possible that plainclothes officers were on board with him during the flight.

Those are all the details I know right now. I’ll keep you posted if anything else arrives.

Fla. minister cancels burning of Qurans on 9/11

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The leader of a tiny church on Thursday backed off his threat to burn the Quran, saying he gave up the plan in exchange for a deal to move a planned Islamic center and mosque away from New York’s ground zero. The imam planning the center, however, quickly denied any such deal.

The Rev. Terry Jones had been under intense pressure to back off, including a statement from President Barack Obama and a personal call from U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Jones made his announcement outside his church alongside Imam Muhammad Musri, the president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida.

After the news conference, Musri told The Associated Press there was an agreement for him and Jones to travel to New York and meet Saturday — on the actual anniversary of the 9/11 attacks — with the imam overseeing plans to build a mosque near ground zero.

“I told the pastor that I personally believe the mosque should not be there, and I will do everything in my power to make sure it is moved,” Musri said. “But there is not any offer from there (New York) that it will be moved. All we have agreed to is a meeting, and I think we would all like to see a peaceful resolution.”

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said he was surprised by the announcement and that he would not barter.

Speaking to reporters later, Jones was adamant that he was promised that the Islamic center would be moved, and said he would be “very, very disappointed” if it were not.

Jones, the pastor of a Florida Pentecostal church of 50 members, has said that he believes the Quran is evil because it espouses something other than biblical truth and incites radical, violent behavior among Muslims.

Jones on Thursday said he prayed about the decision and that if the site of the mosque was moved, it would be a sign from God to call off the Quran burning. Continue Reading →

It seems the US military is of two minds when it comes to burning holy books.

It is very hard to not write something really trite here at Petreus. I mean he felt it was necessary to speak out when one Christian Pastor wanted to have a Koran burning on 911 to make a point but the military itself here is burning bibles to appease Muslims in Afghanistan? Something really really stinks here. When do we get to fight back?

BERLIN (Reuters) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel risked angering Muslims by speaking at an awards ceremony on Wednesday for a Dane whose cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed provoked sometimes violent protests by Muslims five years ago.

The 75-year-old cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, whose drawings of Mohammed that offended Muslims worldwide first appeared in Danish paper Jyllands-Posten in 2005, was due to receive a prize Wednesday evening at a conference on freedom of the press.

At a time of fierce debate in Germany over disparaging remarks about Muslim immigrants made by a central bank member, some Muslims criticized the center-right chancellor and the media said she was taking a risk by honoring a man whom many Muslims believe insulted their faith. Continue Reading →

Hey, when it’s Christian Bibles, it’s OK to burn them! The brouhaha over US military members who were given Bibles to hand out to potential Christian converts in Afghanistan, erupted over a year ago, after a story in al-Jizz was released showing US soldiers praying and talking about conversions of Afghanis.

The reaction was swift, the military confiscated them all and had them burnt, and imagine that, Christians weren’t seen rioting in the streets demanding the guilty parties to be beheaded. So now a pastor wants to do the same, and the military, (read = Gen.Petraeus) cries foul. KGS


Pentagon burns bibles

The Bibles were printed in the local Pashto and Dari languages. Military rules forbid proselytizing. By the way, the Bibles were burned because the rules on the base say that all garbage is burned at the end of the day. But just asking here; if the U.S. Military seized a stack full of Korans, would they be burned? You think that might cause a little outrage in the Muslim world?

European Christians should have more children to stop the continent becoming ‘Islamised’, a senior Vatican official has suggested.

Father Piero Gheddo said the low birth rate of indigenous Europeans combined with a huge wave of Muslim migrants with large families would ‘sooner or later’ see Europe dominated by Islam.

Italian Father Gheddo is a highly respected figure from the Vatican’s Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, a society of missionaries.

He blamed Christians for failing to live up to their own beliefs and creating a ‘religious vacuum’ which was being filled by Islam.

‘The challenge must be taken seriously,’ he said.

‘Certainly from a demographic point of view, as it is clear to everyone that Italians are decreasing by 120,000 or 130,000 persons a year because of abortion and broken families – while among the more than 200,000 legal immigrants a year in Italy, more than half are Muslims and Muslim families, which have a much higher level of growth.’

He added: ‘If we consider ourselves a Christian country, we should return to the practice of Christian life, which would also solve the problem of empty cradles.’

The suit is also against Fadlallah’s employer at all times relevant to the actions referred to in the suit, the Dearborn Public Schools, which, as noted in the complaint, was aware of the behavior alleged in the suit.  As stated in the lawsuit, the action filed by Schlussel’s clients, Bryan Purcell and Georgene Stergalas, concerns the continued harassment of them by Fadlallah and other school personnel because they are Christian and not Muslim or of Arabic heritage.  The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
