An open letter to the people and government of Israel.

Dear Israel:

This is in the form of a letter and not a petition as while I am confident the number of signatories would be high, this is about a moral and just action and not about public pressure to perform it. I only make this letter public as it has the greater chance of reaching the right eyes in that fair land.

Israel more than any other nation on Earth today knows what it means to face extinction, both as a geopolitical entity, and also as a people, a history and a culture. It is also one of the only moral governments that protects minorities and as such, I would hope they would consider using some of their precious and needed resources to help the Yazidi, a similarly ancient and indigenous people, who are now gathered in the hills and facing extinction at the hands of the new Caliphate and the old rules of ‘Mohamed Abd’allah’. The same man and rules that caused the extinction of Jewish tribes that built the prosperous city of Yathrib, now called Medina in what is currently ‘Saudi Arabia’.

I believe Israel is the only nation on Earth that has the logistics and materials to supply weapons and ammunition, and perhaps the equipment needed to desalinate water, if indeed the Yazidi have access to the Sea. If not, perhaps somehow water can be brought to them along with the weapons needed to continue their defense.

Jews know about fighting for survival. If there is any possible way that Israel can help the Yazidi people, a people who’s own culture and faith is a first cousin of the Jewish one as both can be said to be descended from the Zoroastrians, please do so and do so immediately.

Let “never again” include the Yazidi also.

Video: Muslims Kill Most Ferociously in Iraq

This video is so gruesome that one must under no circumstances show it to children or to highly sensitive adults.  It shows how Muslim ISIS killers kill people.  However, this video is different in one respect: they slowly cut the throat of one “unbeliever” and repeatedly interrupt the excruciating procedure in order to delight at the victim’s stertorous groaning and rolling eyes.  The barbaric Mohammedans place their smart phones in the face of the pitiable individual whose head was already half cut through, and film it.  One of them kicked the dying man in the head as well.  All the while they continually shout “Allahu Akbar”, for Islam provides them with the legitimation for living out their perversely ferocious fantasies.

Urgent warning: Only people with strong nerves should watch this actual horror film.

The video was posted on facebook on 8 July and was shared 1,036 times. 30 people liked it. But nothing more is being added, as the page has been blocked since Friday morning. A small selection

The Vatican. Some analysis of the prayer for peace that took place June 8 2014

There has been a lot of confusion around the prayer for peace event held at the Vatican last week. Gates of Vienna as well as this site posted a caution  of an earlier article suggesting that the imam who gave the islamic prayer actually said something that is widely interpreted as praying for victory over the Christians and the Jews.

Here is the list of events as I understand them at this time: On June 11 2014, we posted this article written by Carpe Diem which linked to a video on the same topic at PI News. The article explains how the Imam delivered a certain line of a certain chapter and verse of koran that typically is not interpreted as being very peaceful. Specifically calling for victory over Christians and Jews.

A couple of days later, an email arrived from one of our Arabic translators who explained that in the video, the imam never said that line. That at worst was a wishy-washy other line that is often interpreted as hostile but wasn’t the line we wrote was in there. This prompted Gates of Vienna to write this article which cautioned readers that we may have been wrong on this. This site also linked to that GoV article as well in case we did get this one wrong.

Further analysis showed that the video our translator had seen, was not in fact the full prayer but was some 15 or 20 seconds shorter than the video that appeared on Al Arabiya TV and that version did indeed appear to have the offending line. (thank you M) the line which prompted our writer, Carpe Diem, to translate the video from the German translation at PI News and a line which it is now clear was not presented to the Vatican in advance, is from Koran, The Cow: 2:284, or 2:285 to  2-286

So what we know is, that the imam did indeed go ‘off script’ and speak a few lines, specifically Koran, 2:284, 2:285 and 2:286 which he did not submit to the Vatican in advance. The Vatican actually admits to this and attempts to mitigate the damage the imam tried to do by this piece of apologetics written by a Jesuit at a German language Vatican-Radio website. The sophistry is quite artistic in this. The Jesuit uses the clay-pot fallacy in a round about way here, saying that the imam didn’t really say that and if he did, its no different than when the last pope said something muslims didn’t like in 2006. So we should be ashamed that we even noticed it.

Andrew Bostom observed the following about two of the last 3 verses of the Koran’s second sura, or chapter cited by the Muslim imam (i.e., verses 2:284, 2:285, and 2:286), as interpreted by two very important, authoritative Koranic commentaries, one by Qurtubi (d. 1273), and the other by Shafi (d. 1976)

Qurtubi (d. 1273) was a Muslim scholar of the Maliki school of jurisprudence and an expert on hadith who was also well-known for his commentary on the Koran. Qurtubi’s glosses on 2:285 and 2:286, includes these remarks:

[From, Tafsir al-Qurtubi: Classical Commentary of the Holy Qur’an, Vol. 1, 2003, London, p. 762,  regarding 2:285,  “We hear and obey”]

He [Allah] praised them in this ayat and removed from them the hardship they experienced about thoughts which occur to them. This favor is the fruit of obedience and devotion to Allah. What happened to the tribe of Israel was the opposite of that. They were censured and made to endure the hardships of abasement, wretchedness and exile since they said “We hear and disobey” (see Koran 2:93 and 4:46). Such is the result of disobedience and recalcitrance to Allah.

“They endured hard things”…refers to being turned into pigs and monkeys (i.e., the Jews, Koran 5:60)…it means wrong actions for which there is no repentance or expiation.

Mufti Muhammad Shafi (d. 1976) was the author of Maariful Qur’an, which is the best-known work of tafsir (Koranic commentary) in Urdu. He also wrote more than three hundred books. In addition to his literary works, Mufti Muhammad Shafi broadcasted tafsir of the Koran on Radio Pakistan for a number of years. Here are relevant extracts from the Maariful Qur’an glosses  on Koran 2:285 and 2:286:

[on verse 2:285; from p. 722 of Maariful Qur’an, Vol. 1, Karachi, 2009]:

 …it was clearly stressed that the believers of this ummah (Muslim community0 will do nothing that was done by past communities when they planted seeds of discord among messengers of Allah by accepting some as prophets and by denying the status of others. The Jews accepted Moses was a prophet, the Christians accepted that Jesus was a prophet, but that the last of the prophets, Mujammad was a prophet was not accepted by them.

[on verse 2:286; from p. 724 of Maariful Qur’an, Vol. 1, Karachi, 2009;  After quoting from the verse, “Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear.]

…Indicated here are the sever restrictions placed on the Israelites [Jews]…Alternately it could mean that punishment should not visit us [Muslims] as it visited the Israelites following their evil deeds. In short, Allah Almighty bestowed His best when He promised the acceptance of all these prayers through his Messenger, the last among the, prophets.

I am not going to try and speculate as to exactly what this all meant. But I would be willing to bet odds that this was not remotely in the spirit of what the Pope had in mind when he organized this event.

Jihadist sources report the death of Abou Al-Shaheed Faransi.

Before his death, the French jihadist, Abou Shaheed, called “Le Francais” (The French Man”) said:  “We don’t need the international community”. 

On 30 May 2014, jihadi sources did report the death of Abou Al-Shaheed Faransi (“The French Man”), member of the Islamic State of Irak and the Orient (EIIL) and a pin-up figure of the francophone Jihadist community. Abou Shaheed is said to have been killed during a fight against the Syrian Branch of Al-Quaida, Jabhat Al Nusra (JN). Violent fights have been reported for the control of the region of Deir Al-Zor,  rich in petrol, between l”EIIL and a coalition of islamist groups, including JN.

In February 2014 (date of this video?) he presents himself under the name of Abou Shaheed. He is 29 y.o. and has left France 10 months ago. He was then in the region of Alep, where reporter Claire Andrieux joined him via a social network.

 

Vatican: Imam prays for victory over the disbelieving people

Last Sunday, Whitsunday if you like, Pope Francis hosted Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at a ‘Peace Gathering’ in Vatican City. Prayers from clerics of the three faiths had been planned to be part of the programme, as News.va, The Official Vatican Network, reported prior to the visit.

After he had seen the broadcast, Hamed Abdel-Samad, an Islam-critical political scientist and author who lives in Germany, wrote on Facebook:

“In the garden of the Vatican, the Muslim cleric finishes his prayer with the verse from the Quran: ‘May Allah give us victory over the disbelieving people’. This is what I call a prayer for peace.

Since Hamed Abdel-Samad speaks Arabic fluently, he had recognized that the Imam had quoted the last three verses from Sura 2.

On June 10, Bernd Hagenkord, head of the German section of Radio Vatican, published an article in which he contradicts the claim: “No, during the prayers for peace the Quran hasn’t been recited requesting to destroy the unbelievers. […] What a source of unbelievable stuff the internet is.”

In some way he couldn’t know better. Hagenkord attached all prayers (in English) that were handed in to his article. The Imam simply changed the programme.

When two readers put the translated verses into the comment section, Bernd Hagenkord answered: “Colleagues told us that the translation circulating the internet and this comment section is the harshest and not common at all.”

Not common at all?

Both translations were of the very same wording, so I had an Idea – and I was right. Both commentators had used the translation from the Central Council for Muslims in Germany

Suspected tribal rebels have shot dead 22 Muslims in attacks in tea-growing state of Assam, where tension has run high during a drawn-out national election, officials said on Friday.

Police said they suspected militants from the Bodo tribe were behind the latest attacks late on Thursday into Friday in a region where tension between ethnic Bodo people and Muslim settlers spilled over two years ago into clashes in which dozens were killed and 400,000 fled their homes.

Bodo representatives argue that many of the Muslims are illegal immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh encroaching on their ancestral lands,

In one of the incidents, eight people were killed by a group of suspected Bodo guerrillas, said officials.

In another, three members of one family including two women were shot dead, and a baby was wounded, said a senior police officer in the state’s main city, Guwahati.

The area known as the Temple Mount at the top of Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, was the site where the First Jewish Temple was built over 3,000 years ago (957 BC) by King David’s son King Solomon. King David made Jerusalem the capital of Israel in 1003 BC. The Temple was destroyed in 586 BC by the Babylonians, was rebuilt in 516 BC, and destroyed again in 70 AD by the Romans.

Since 70 AD, the first mass Jewish pilgrimage near the mount was allowed to take place after the Six-Day War in 1967 (a war that Israel fought in self-defense and won against the neighbouring states of Egypt, Syria and Jordan, all preparing to obliterate Israel), when Israel took back its holiest site, the 36-acre Temple Mount in East Jerusalem (Israel’s ancient capital) from Jordan. Not only did Israel allow Muslims to worship there (as opposed to the Muslims who forbade Jews to worship there when the Temple Mount was under Muslim control), but then-Israeli Defense Minister Dayan entrusted administrative control of the Temple Mount to the Jordanian Waqf (the Islamic authority in Jerusalem). Overall security control of the area was maintained by Israel.

In the First and Second Jewish Temples, the holiest spot was the “Holy of Holies”, built around the “Foundation Stone” where the binding of Isaac by Abraham to sacrifice him to God, and other religious events in Judaism, were believed to have taken place. This is where the Ark of the Convenant (containing the 10 Commandments) was placed in the First Temple.

Over the centuries, Muslims who eventually took control of Christian Jerusalem (and who neither made Jerusalem a capital of a Muslim area nor a province of a Muslim empire) built a shrine, the gold-topped Dome of the Rock in 691 AD, less than 60 years after Mohammed’s death, on the site where Solomon’s Temple once stood, over the Holy of Holies. The Al Aqsa mosque was also built (705 AD) on the Temple Mount.

It is a common Islamic custom to build mosques on the sites of other people’s sacred places after being conquered, in order to emphasize the superiority of Islam over other religions, and to give the city an Islamic identity. Many churches, synagogues, and Hindu, Buddhist and Zoroastrian temples have been converted into mosques.

The fact that The Dome of the Rock was built in Jerusalem on the Temple Mount and over the Holy of Holies, asserts that Islam has replaced Judaism. And the 600-foot inscription in the dome that consists of several koranic passages challenging the Christian belief in the trinity and the divinity of Christ, asserts that Islam has also replaced Christianity:

“People of the Book (the Bible), overstep not bounds in your religion and of God, speak only truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is only an apostle of God and His word which He conveyed to Mary and a Spirit proceeding from Him. Believe therefore in God and his apostles and say not ‘Three.’ It will be better for you. God is only one God. Far be it from His glory that He should have a son. His is whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And God is a sufficient Guardian. The Messiah does not disdain being a servant of God nor do the angels who are near Him. And all who disdain His service are filled with pride. God will gather them all to Himself” (64:1, 33:54, 4:169-171).

Part of one of the verses inscribed says: “the true religion of God is with Islam” (3:16-17).

Around three years ago, the Dome of the Rock area became inaccessible to non-Muslims. And the Israeli government currently enforces a ban on non-Muslim prayer on the Temple Mount to accommodate Islam. Non-Muslims who are observed praying on the site are subject to expulsion by the police.

Notice how, in the aerial view below of the Temple Mount area, the Dome of the Rock stands out. It was meant to stand out, to dwarf or obliterate any trace of other religious structures, just as the Waqf’s archaeological excavations at Judaism’s holiest site are destroying ancient Jewish antiquities and artifacts – in other words, destroying all evidence of an ancient Jewish presence in Jerusalem.

In the same way, the Taliban erased the Buddhist past of Afghanistan in 2001 by blowing up the world’s two largest standing sandstone Buddhas carved into the hillside 1700 years ago (one of them 165 feet high). Palestinians desecrated and vandalized Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem/Nablus many times, attempting to rebuild it as a mosque, and still refer to Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem as a mosque. Turkey’s Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Spain’s Cordoba Cathedral, and Greece’s Parthenon in Athens were converted into mosques. The intention is to erase every sign, remnant, and memory of a pre-Islamic past.

Unesco stops unauthorised reconstruction of Bamiyan Buddhas

German archaeologists have rebuilt the lower appendages of the smaller statue

The international community has reacted furiously to news that a German-led team of archaeologists has been reconstructing the feet and legs of the smaller of the two Bamiyan Buddhas, the monumental Afghan sculptures blown up by the Taliban in 2001. News of this reconstruction, which has taken place without Unesco’s knowledge or permission, was revealed during the 12th meeting of Unesco’s Bamiyan working group, in Orvieto, Italy, in December.

A team of archaeologists from the German branch of Icomos (the International Council on Monuments and Sites), led by Michael Petzet, who himself served as the head of Icomos from 1999 to 2008, spent most of last year rebuilding the smaller Buddha’s lower appendages with iron rods, reinforced concrete and bricks, an operation that Francesco Bandarin, Unesco’s assistant director-general for culture, describes as “wrong on every level”. He says: “Unesco has nothing to do with this project. It was undertaken without the consent of the Afghan government and has now been stopped.”

I can’t imagine a more persuasive news item than this. That UNESCO believes that the Taliban ‘right’ to destroy ancient massive public world statues only because they represent an organizing principle and spiritual system other than Islam actually trumps people who wish to try and reconstruct these ancient and priceless artifacts at no public expense.
