Dear Israel:
This is in the form of a letter and not a petition as while I am confident the number of signatories would be high, this is about a moral and just action and not about public pressure to perform it. I only make this letter public as it has the greater chance of reaching the right eyes in that fair land.
Israel more than any other nation on Earth today knows what it means to face extinction, both as a geopolitical entity, and also as a people, a history and a culture. It is also one of the only moral governments that protects minorities and as such, I would hope they would consider using some of their precious and needed resources to help the Yazidi, a similarly ancient and indigenous people, who are now gathered in the hills and facing extinction at the hands of the new Caliphate and the old rules of ‘Mohamed Abd’allah’. The same man and rules that caused the extinction of Jewish tribes that built the prosperous city of Yathrib, now called Medina in what is currently ‘Saudi Arabia’.
I believe Israel is the only nation on Earth that has the logistics and materials to supply weapons and ammunition, and perhaps the equipment needed to desalinate water, if indeed the Yazidi have access to the Sea. If not, perhaps somehow water can be brought to them along with the weapons needed to continue their defense.
Jews know about fighting for survival. If there is any possible way that Israel can help the Yazidi people, a people who’s own culture and faith is a first cousin of the Jewish one as both can be said to be descended from the Zoroastrians, please do so and do so immediately.
Let “never again” include the Yazidi also.

Some links showing the need for action:

4. Death of a religion. ISIS and the Yazidi
One of the most impassioned speeches I have ever seen.
I pray they can do something because no western government other then them will even try.
Hello, Eeyore.
Here in Israel the citizens are fully aware of what’s going on. We’ll gladly join the broad “infidel” coalition against jihadists, but we can’t fight all these medieval genocidal islamic lunatics alone. You know that even our minimal efforts to defend our own country are always condemned by the hypocritical political establishment of the “civilized world” as “aggression”, “disproportionate response” and “war crimes”. We aren’t heartless cowards, but unless the dominant political climate in the non-islamic world changes significantly, I don’t see our government authorizing large-scale operations against islamic supremacists far from our borders …
Leo:
I fully understand. I wasn’t thinking in terms of fighting them. You already do that everyday for your own survival. I was thinking in terms of supplying them. It appears that a few hours after I wrote that open letter, the Iraqis dropped a pile of supplies on them courtesy of Turkey.
The fog of war is upon us and its very hard to know what is true and what is not. But if Israel was able to chopper in some rifles, Ammo, RPG’s and food and water, it would be a great thing.
It is the greatest thing to supply a people with the means to defend themselves. It is one of the things that made the Pre-Obama US great. The 2nd amendment meant the people could be equipped to defend themselves even against their own tyrannical government.
That was before information as a weapon was turned against them of course.
I was thinking in terms of Sobibor, or the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. If those Jews had real weapons, they could have done real damage and many more of them would have lived.
Hopefully we’ll be able to help anti-jihadist groups secretly with supplies and arms, but again we all know that if it becomes known that Israel is involved on any level, you’ll never hear the end of the usual “evil jooooz are behind every conflict in human history” crap from every corner of the world …
Right. Last thing they need is to be identified with the “evil jooooz” for real, not just in time-honored Mideast conspiracy politics.
Note the absence of chatter between Abdullah II and Bibi. Very, very careful here.
Always remember that all freedom came out of the barrel of a gun, the gun control movement in Europe and the US started prior to WWII and was stalled for a while because the vets had seen what the allies did with gun control and wanted nothing like that to happen in their countries. After most of the WWII generation forgot the horrors or had died the gun control movement regained power.
I hope Israel can do a lot for the trapped people because Obama will find some way to screw up any aid to non jihadists.
More Israeli kids are coming today! So exciting!
These are a bit older, 12-15. They’ll go to the same summer camp as the younger ones. We’ve bought & packed their “kit” – including sparkle pens in 6 colors [!] so they can name-tag everything themselves.
They’ll spend Sabbath here with families, then we’ll drive them to New Hampshire. I’m anxious to find out how the others are doing at camp.
The real little ones who’re staying with families around here are doing so-so, according to the host-mothers. Whatever that means.
Hello YankeeKafir 😉

🙂
The miss their parents and home but are having fun.
Oh yes, Rita!
I saw that. It’s part of why the host families of the littlest kids are distressed. The kids themselves may not be, but mothers here haven’t had experience with kids from war zones.
We got word that one of the injured parents may lose an eye. Reconstructive surgery on the face has to wait until the swelling goes down.
I hope we can keep the kids long enough for things to settle down. School’s out now, so going to camp here and staying with “aunties” feels reasonably normal.
At least it’s being reported in the MSM.
Looking to see if the Anglican Church of Canada had anything to say, I found this ‘Faith Leaders Statement on the Situation in Mosul’ from Aug 1. They actually use the terms ‘dhimmi’ and ‘jizya’ in condemning ISIS.

The geni of knowledge is slowly escaping the bottle, the more that emerges the faster the escape will be and then we will see large portions of the west mobilize to oppose the Islamic conquest.
I think you’re right. An old friend who is an Anglican minister stopped talking to me a year ago because of my harping on these issues. Wouldn’t deviate an inch from the party line. Now suddenly head office itself is throwing around terms from the counterjihad. Doesn’t take a lot of light to throw back the darkness.
No it doesn’t, when I was in school one of the songs we sang was a 19th century song that started
give me 10 who are stought (sp?) hearted men and I will give you 10,000 more.
All it takes is for the truly brave in intelligent to keep working to shine the light of truth and eventually the low information people will get the message.
“Israel more than any other nation on Earth today knows what it means to face extinction, both as a geopolitical entity, and also as a people, a history and a culture.”
Amen.
I ditto you, Svensken.
1. to Eeyore:
You soooo dont run with the pack and sooo buck the default position of the herd who wants “Jews dead” (I dont even bother with the fig leaf of anti- ziiiiiiiiionism any longer, and what’s wrong with Zionism anyway – Moses was the first one) that I just feel the need to embarrass you and say: KUDOS TO YOU.
2. To Leo: I fully understand your argument, you are so correct and down-to-the-earth with it. Should you be in/of Israel: Long Life Israel !
“…The Truth is,
we are all living in Israel.
It is just that some of us
have not realised it yet.”
3. To the blog Vlad Tepes. I am proud to be even a small part of you.
Thank you, Rita. 🙂
Yep, I’m Israeli.
A comfortably irreligious quad-lingual western “kafir”, a beer-drinking, pork-eating, rock-listening repatriant from the former Soviet Union, a classic liberal, IT geek, IDF reservist, unapologetic zionist and hardcore “islamophobe”. 🙂
Oh Leo!
Pork-eating?!
YankeeKafir
From what I have been able to learn the original dietary restrictions were put in place because of the diseases that were carried by the pigs and could be spread if the meat wasn’t thoroughly cooked. The shell fish started decomposing so fast they couldn’t be transported very far or stored from more then a couple of hours. A combination of the two is why lobsters have to be cooked while they are still alive.
Who cares why? Ipse dixit. Thou Shalt Not.
[Full stop.]
Human flesh is said to taste very much like swine flesh. Etc.
Shalom Leo 🙂 Nice to meet you.
When I call myself a “catholic agnostic” I dont always get a laugh. Although born in Bavaria, I dont drink beer but make up for that in wine, and – of course as the French have a cheese for every day of the year, Bavarians have nearly as many kind of sausages. I’m a hopeless luddite and believe that to be an islamophobe today is the same thing as being an Icebergophobe in 1912 – if only there would have been more of them on the Titanic.
I said “nice to meet you”, but seing you are an IDF reservist I say: HONOURED to meet you !
Do you know Gidon Shaviv?

Everybody knows everybody, Rita! Few degrees of separation tend to make ostensible strangers behave better.
I could forget my laptop in the Nelson, South Island, NZ airport loo and have people running after me seconds later. Then be teased about it by other such “strangers” in Christchurch, South Island a year later.
Of course, REMEMBER no one here should every give out their contact details to anyone here no matter how friendly and in accord with your views you think they are. Stay anonymous. This is not the website to make friends. Remember taqiyya is second nature in Muslim history, culture and upbringing. They are very very good at it. You are not.
