Canada Will Not Tolerate “Honour killings”

Can’t wait for the Muslim organizations to claim this new law as anti Islamic

National Post…The federal government this afternoon affirmed its zero-tolerance stance against ‘honour killing,’ declaring such “barbaric cultural practices” as “heinous abuses” that have “no place in Canadian society.”

The government is taking gender-based violence “very seriously” and called on women’s groups and members of the immigrant community to do their part in tackling these “heinous abuses, said Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women.

The minister’s announcement at a a press conference at the Punjabi Community Health Service Centre in Mississauga, Ont., was apparently prompted by this weekend’s release of a high-profile report focusing on the growing problem of the abuse of girls and women in Canada’s immigrant communities.

The report, released by the Frontier Centre on Public Policy, outlines 14 recommendations for the federal government — including criminal record checks for men coming to Canada, and mandatory orientation sessions for male sponsors and sponsored women regarding gender-equality in this country.
Ms. Ambrose said the government is already working some of the recommendations and is “looking at” others, including the launch of government-funded programs on local and national television that could be used to reiterate the consequences of abuse.

She also said the government is “looking at” adding ‘honour killing’ as a separate charge to the criminal code.

“If we have a different family dynamic at play, then we have to address that family dynamic,” Ms. Ambrose said, addressing media and about a dozen women and a few men from the community who gathered at the centre.

An Iranian woman faces death by stoning after being convicted of adultery.

Amnesty International yesterday called on the Iranian authorities to halt the imminent execution of mother-of-two Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani and the hanging of another woman said to be a political activist.

Ashtiani was convicted of having an ‘illicit relationship’ with two men in May 2006 and received 99 lashes as her sentence.
Despite this, she has also been convicted of adultery and sentenced to death by stoning.

The 43-year-old has retracted a ‘confession’ she said was made under duress.

Appealing for help to the international community, her daughter, Farideh, 16, and son, Sajad, 20, said yesterday: ‘Please help end this nightmare and do not let it turn into a reality. Help us save our mother.’

Under Iran’s Islamic penal code, adultery is punishable by stoning to death or flogging, while hanging is the penalty for murder and other crimes such as drug trafficking.

Stoning sentences were widely carried out after Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, but have been rare in recent years.

Men killed in this way are buried to the waist, while women are buried deeper, to stop the stones hitting their breasts.

If a prisoner manages to pull free during a stoning, he or she is acquitted or jailed, but is not executed. It is easier for a man to drag himself free because he is not buried so deeply.

In December 2008 a man convicted of adultery escaped death by stoning by dragging himself out of the pit he had been buried in for the punishment.

But two other alleged male adulterers were killed by the barbaric method in the same incident, which took place in the north-eastern city of Mashhad.

Iranian activists against stoning say it is not prescribed in the Koran.

Iran has the highest execution rate in the world.

Amnesty International has recorded 126 executions between January and June – among them five political prisoners.

Globe & Mail publishes 14 page doc on the Asqa Parvez murder

This is extraordinary. The Parvez family loathed the Kuffar. For Kuffar, read Canadians. The had 8 kids of which Asqa was the youngest at 16 when she was murdered. They were all born in Pakistan, and the other Parvez children are married to 1st cousins from Pakistan. Yes all 7 of them. Asqa was also set up for a forced marriage. She declined. She was killed.

All of her sisters wear the Hijab or whatever, and Asqa refused.

All of her siblings with the exception of two, were home in their respective bedrooms during the murder. Their respective children were also at the dwelling.  This would be something like 15 people in the home during the murder by strangulation. Each was in a bedroom and ‘heard nothing’.

She had friends which were not Muslims, which enraged her father. He also threatened to send her to an Islamic school as I suspect, the public school in which she attended was not ‘suitable’. He was upset Asqa rejected the hijab and was further annoyed his daughter sought a part-time job. None of his other daughters worked and were entirely dependent upon their husbands.  After her death he phoned 911 and confessed to the murder. When police arrived at the scene, his arms were covered in blood.

For the first time in her life she went to the movies 3 days before she was murdered. Some of those who went with her, were infidels. For infidels, read Canadians.

MONTREAL – Favouring her left forearm, on which spots of blood had soaked through the white bandage, the woman stood in the prisoner’s box looking crushed, accused of stabbing her own daughter in what police say was an “honour crime.”

After her lawyer, Tom Pentefountas, asked to delay the formal laying of charges so his client’s psychological fitness for trial could be determined, the woman’s husband stood up in the back of the court and shouted to the judge: “Please sir, my wife is innocent!”

He soon began to weep, completing the picture of a family utterly torn asunder by what transpired early Sunday morning.

The 19-year-old daughter remains in hospital with knife wounds to the head, shoulders and arms.

It’s believed that the daughter came home late, Pentefountas, a prominent name in the Montreal legal community, indicated to the court.

One source said she is believed to have returned home after 3 a.m. The assault happened just after 8, according to police.

Police based their theory that it was an honour crime on “what we saw at the scene of the crime,” said Olivier Lapointe, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service, and especially on interviews with people inside the house and the victim herself.

It appeared related to the “behavior of the victim,” Lapointe said.

The woman, 38-year-old Johra Kaleki, faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Continue Reading →

Sweden’s integration minister upset about forced ‘marriage’ in Malmo

The Swedish authorities seem to be noticing some of the more illiberal aspects to their multicultural paradise. The following is a machine translation from this Swedish newspaper. While its a tad rough, you will get the idea. Sooner or later, even the Swedes had to notice that Islam will clash with any other notion of basic human rights and the dignity and person-hood of women.

A girl in Malmö was married when she was in fifth grade.  She was twelve years old. The following year she started in sixth grade.  Still too young to drive a moped, see adult films at the cinema or even get the scores.  By that time she lived with her husband and gave birth to her first child.  This was depicted in a series of articles about forced marriages in Sydsvenska Dagbladet.  At least 25 high school girls Scanian was reported to be married every summer, but that the community responded.

It has long been lacking a solid knowledge of forced marriage in Sweden. Those of us who warned of honor repression has been questioned. Like when the Socialist government investigators Masoud Kamali accused us of fomenting racism.

But culture relative addicts can no longer deny that this oppression affects thousands of young people. A number of institutions on behalf of the Government reported on the prevalence of violence and oppression. According to the Youth Board, there are at least 70 000 young people who feel that parents, religion and culture set limits on who they can marry.

In two studies (Socialstyrelsen Stockholm University in 2007 and 2009) found that among young people living with limitations related to marriage are those who are vulnerable to psychological and physical violence by parents or other relatives.  A review of county court judgments, which were seized as young as a result of, for example, domestic violence, shows that one third of all convictions in 2007 were girls (who) were (victims of)  honor (related crimes). Most had been victims of violence by relatives, sometimes for years.  Half had been threatened to death.  Almost all had received themselves take the initiative to seek help.

The picture is alarming. Today the government decides on a strategy for continued work to prevent young people are married against their will. The focus is on strengthening prevention, support and protection, improved collaboration between agencies and increased knowledge.

(ANSAmed) – PARIS, MAY 4 – Protests in France against the daily aggression against women working in Hassi Messaoud, the oil city in the heart of Algeria, continue. These women are considered to be prostitutes by fundamentalist imams, only because they live on their own. The imams set people against them in fiery sermons, which are always followed by punitive expeditions in which the women are robbed, beaten, tortured and raped. Today Francés Grand Lodge for women in a statement denounced “the silence that reigns on this extreme violence, aggression, the rapes and even murders” and deplores “the indifference of the media regarding these dramatic and barbaric events”. The violence has also been denounced by other French associations, particularly that tragic night in 2001 when around a hundred women ended up in hospital after an expedition of men armed with clubs, steel bars, knives. The story was recently told in a book by Algerian writer Nadia Kaci, unveiling the drama to France. But the drama still continues according to articles in Algerian dailies in the oil city, which denounced the impunity of the aggressors, the silence of the institutions and local authorities, the laxity of the community regarding the general condition of women in Algeria. (ANSAmed) – ALGIERS, MARCH 15 – The proposal to introduce prison terms for men who beat their wives goes against the Koran and the teachings of the prophet Mohamed, according to the head of Algeriàs Superior Islamic Council. Qaher Sharif fiercely criticised the bill presented to the head of state Abdelaziz Bouteflikàs by the head of the Consultative Council on Human Rights Farouk Qustantiti. “This man’s aim is to violate a law of the Koran and of the Sunnah, and he meddles in subjects that are beyond his competence”, Sharif said in an interview with the Arab-language edition of the daily newspaper El Khabar. “Hés done it before with the death penalty, and now with beatings,” he added, asking “what difference can it make to him what goes on between a man and his wife?” The President of the Islamic Council said that he was stunned by Qustantinìs proposal, because “God has already pointed out precisely the way that a husband must behave towards his wife”. He quoted verses 34 and 35 of the Surah on women, in which men are advised to “admonish women, confine them to their bed and beat them” should they commit “nushooz”, a term signifying both infidelity and a refusal of sexual intercourse. Sharif pointed out that the text is so precise that it indicates the method of punishment to be used against the wife, and that this should be neither “too insistent, nor provoke disfigurement”. Phyllis Chesler: Victim blames herself for being raped and beaten by Muslim?

The other day, a pediatric nurse in New York City refused to dance with Mbarek Lafrem, a Moroccan man, in a New York City bar. What did Lafrem do? He followed her into the women’s bathroom where he attempted to rape and savagely beat her. The woman was found unconscious and is now hospitalized. She required 50 stitches to close just one of her lacerations; she also suffered a broken eye socket, a broken nose, skull fractures, and a busted jaw.

The media pointedly refrain from telling us that he is a Muslim, but with a name like “Mbarek” or ‘Mubarak,” what religion are we talking about? Lafrem now claims that she started it, that the nurse “berated him when he barged into the women’s restroom shortly after she’d rebuffed him on the dance floor.”

To a certain kind of man, from a certain kind of culture, women are always supposed to say yes, and when they say no they are provokers and deserve a beating. More: If the woman is a naked-faced infidel and dances with strange men in a public setting—she is, by definition, a prostitute and is not entitled to say no. Saying no is a “provocation” and deserves a beating. Or worse.

Now, let’s shuffle off to Buffalo, where Muzzammil ”Mo” Hassan—remember him?–is about to stand trial for beheading his wife, Aasiya Zubair Hassan. Guess what this monster’s claiming? That he’s the victim, that he was a “battered husband.” Guess what this crafty self-promoter has been doing from his jail cell? Writing letters to the media in his mother’s name in which he paints himself as the “abused” spouse. Mo’s letters also refer to an “epidemic” of battered men.

Kitman TV once again has brought the real world video footage that we so desperately need to see. Despite the fantastical amount of this kind of documentary footage that has been taken, the average person on the street still thinks to speak of Islam as it actually is, remains a hate crime.

Feminists, university students who think that being on the left of the political spectrum puts you on the side of genuine human rights, I beg you, watch this, send it to your friends, and then think very carefully about who the real allies are for the fight to sustain liberal multilateral democracy. Turkish father tells German court he stabbed daughter, 15, to death

Out of curiousity, if you were to stab someone in your home, how many times would you have to stab them before you recognized it was your own teenage daughter? One? Five? Sixty eight seems a little high to me.

Schweinfurt, Germany – A Turkish doner kebab vendor told a German court Wednesday how he stabbed his teenaged daughter 68 times in their home, but he denied the attack was an honour killing. Prosecutors in the southern town of Schweinfurt have charged him with murder, alleging he killed Busra, 15, because she had a boyfriend, 17, and was a heavy user of her mobile phone and the internet.

But Mehmet O, aged 46, claimed he mistook her for a burglar.

“What I did was horrible,” the accused said in a statement read out for him by his lawyer. “What happened has nothing to do with family honour.” He claimed he heard a noise in the night last June, grabbed a kitchen knife, and attacked an intruder.

The girl’s bloodied body was found the next day on the sofa where she had slept. The accused vanished. When police caught him, he made a remark about his daughter “not choosing the Muslim way.” The court is expected to ask him what that meant. Continue Reading →
