The French liberation of Gao has given us look into life under Islam. The system that the Jihadis had implemented in Mali looks a good deal like the same Islamic colonialism that scarred Africa and produced the slave trade.

There was a tier with black Malians on the bottom and lighter skinned Arab and Pakistani Jihadists on top.

Over the last two days, I’ve had something of a tour of the justice system the Mujao, which is Movements for Jihad and Unity, installed in Gao, Mali, during their nine months of rule. They took over what used to be the mayor’s office and turned it into the  “justice” centre.

In the second segment there are errors. The Koran is not anti slavery nor is Islam. In fact, Mohamed would brag about his prowess in making deals in the slave trade and owned quite a few. Today, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania still has wide open slave markets just as we see in the top segment from the 1960s.

Polemic around slavery affair at the Concorde Opéra luxury hotel

Today, the CGT [Confédération Générale du Travail, trade union] has denounced pressure exercised against them at the Concorde Opéra luxury hotel, because they [CGT] aided an ethiopian hause maid working for a Arab Emirates’ family to flee from the room where she said was detained and maltreated.

‘Four union members were reprimanded by the hotel’s management, most of all blaming them for not having notified them immediately of this situation. But they did not do that immediately, fearing that they [management] would warn the [AE] family’, explains the CGT delegate for presige hotels, denouncing the recurring practice ‘of modern slavery in luxury hotels’ under a management who not always ‘feels the need to notify the authorities’.

Also, the CGT accuses the management to have blamed the union’s activists to have caused money loss for the hotel after this affair. Informed of this situation, the unionists have contacted associations and the police, which demanded the passport confiscated by the family to be handed over to the young woman.

Interrogated by the police, the young woman explained that she has never have been paid for her work and often having received beatings. Until her arrival at the hotel, she was not able to contact anybody as she was always locked up.

UNESCO actually appears todo something useful, makes little attempt to advertise it but the MSM would have ignored it anyway.

I guess it would be islamophobia to say “slavery is encompassed by the Islamic faith” and is still widely practiced in the islamic world. even in London muslims have been caught owning them.

But reality is nothing is being done, there are more people in slavery now than at any other time in human history, the vast majority in islamic countries or owned by muslims.

UNPO General Secretary Marino Busdachin’s Statement on the 2012 UNESCO International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and of its Abolition.

Brussels, 23 August 2012 – On the occasion of the 2012 UNESCO International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and of its Abolition, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) joins in the commemoration of those who suffered as a result of their enslavement, and to draw awareness to those whose lives continue to reflect the tragedy of the slave trade today.   Today’s Day of Remembrance aims to collectively consider the historic roots and causes that led to the slave trade, its effects, and present an opportunity for UNESCO Member States to promote intercultural dialogue, and in UNESCO’s words, ‘further the values of tolerance, respect, acceptance and appreciation of the equal dignity of human beings.’

‘Today is an opportunity to not only consider the historical origins of the slave trade, but also to shed light on its legacy today and conditions that have remained unchanged,’ stated UNPO General Secretary, Marino Busdachin, who noted that ‘we cannot let today pass without drawing attention to the current situation of Biram Ould Abeid, president of the ‘Initiative de Résurgence du Mouvement Abolitionniste de Mauritanie’ (IRA), who remains imprisoned for his anti-slavery activism in Mauritania, along with six fellow activists. I urge the Mauritanian authorities in the strongest of terms to release Ould Abeid and his fellow activists, and to take active measures to finally end the practice of slavery in Mauritania.’

Biram Ould Abeid was arrested in May 2012, following his act of burning several pages of a Malikite theological book, according to which slavery is encompassed by the Islamic faith. The aim of Mr. Abeid was to draw attention to how slavery continues to be embedded in Mauritanian society at a cultural and religious level. Although Mauritania abolished slavery in 1981, it was not until 2007 that legislation officially criminalising slave owners was passed. However to date, the Mauritanian judiciary have only prosecuted one case, and an estimated 10% to 20% of Mauritania’s 3.4 million population remain enslaved.

In light of this, the Mauritanian authorities must implement its anti-slavery legislation in order to bring an end to contemporary forms of slavery, and to release Biram Ould Abeid and his fellow activists from prison. Furthermore, Mauritania, as a UNESCO Member State, should use the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and of its Abolition to encourage all Mauritanians to consider the historical causes of slavery in Mauritania and the legacy it continues to have today.

Contemporary slaves carry a value of $90 which is a historic low. Two hundred years ago, a slave cost approximately $40,000 in values adjusted for today according to commentary by CNN.

UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, Gulnara Shahinian noted that in Mauritania slavery ‘… victims said that they were utterly deprived of their basic human rights. Having no alternative, they voluntarily stay or after fleeing, return back to slavery. This perpetuates the vicious circle of slavery for men, women and children.’

Historian Egon Flaig: Sharia is the most dangerous right-wing extremism in the world

Münich. The ancient historian Egon Flaig has argued against the declarations coming from officials of muslim groups that Islam belongs to the history of Europe. In a comment made for the news magazine Focus, Flaig disagreed amongst others with the representatives of Kenan Kolat, a turkish community in Germany. According to the professor teaching at the University of Rostock, associations with special interests could be maintaining a cultural rememberance devoid of real historical basis. The real basis would be that the penetration of theocracy into politics in the islamic world left not even the smallest place for the kind of republican communities characterizing Europe. “Where have there been self-governing citizenry under islamic rule? Where have there been decreeing people’s assembly  or parliaments? We find nowhere regular elections, referendums, national constitutions, or a town hall” Flaig writes in “Focus”.
“Nowadays there are islamic movements who do not follow sharia, and there is the powerful sharia-complying islam. The difference is fundamental for the chances regarding democracy and human rights. Just as nationalsocialism divided people into superior and inferior men following racist parameters, so has sharia developed a religious apartheid-system. The long-term goal of sharia is to spread this system to the entire world. The sharia-complying Islam can surely be called islamofascism, and the most dangerous right wing radicalism in the world”, Flaig says. This islam has never belonged to Europe. In fact, the european culture was in the position of being able to thrive because it held steady for more than 1000 years against the continuous attacks of the muslim sultanate and the emirate. Only an islam complying with the constitution could be a part of our country.

Several days ago, the world was shocked with the news from Europe. A family couple from Bosnia and Herzegovina had been keeping a young German woman as their slave for eight years. The victim of family violence is now 19 years of age.

The Bosnian couple – Milenko Marinkovic, 52, and his wife Slavojka Marinkovic, 45, – were torturing and starving an underage girl, whose name was Karla. The girl would be raped by other men on a regular basis.

It was the couple’s neighbors, who called the police. One of them said that he saw Marinkovic harnessing the girl to a cart and whipping her, as if she was a horse. The couple made the German woman come into unnatural relations with dogs – just out of sadism, Austrian portal unzensuriert.at said. The victim was kept indoors. The woman was not allowed to communicate with other people at all. She had to eat the fodder that her masters would give to their pigs.

It still remains unknown why the authorities did not take any measures against the Bosnian couple to save the German child eight years ago. It was said that the Bosnians hid the girl in the basement, and the police did not find her. This time, the authorities decided to act only after a neighbor filed a written statement against his neighbors and presented a photo of the exhausted and bruised young woman.

They were hiding the girl in a forest. When she was found, she weighed only 40 kilos. She currently stays in an orphanage, although her physical and psychological condition leaves much to be desired. The rehabilitation process will take a lot of time, medics said.

Karla was taken to Bosnia eight years ago. Her mother, a German citizen, had been married to Milenko Marinkovic in spite of the fact that the man already had a wife from Bosnia -Slavojka. Karla’s mother had a work permit in Germany and Austria. She left her daughter to the Bosnian man, and kept silence about the violence in the family.

This story received an extensive coverage in the European press. Many people – bloggers and journalists – started discussing the issue of Islamic slavery in the Mediterranean region. It is worthy of note that the above-mentioned family is known as the Marinkovics, but their cousin’s name is Mohammed Makalic.

Here is what a German blog dolomitengeistblog.wordpress.com had to say:

“Muslim slavery is still preserved up until today. Hundreds of thousands of men and women from the Philippines, Romania, India, Bulgaria, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh are used as house slaves. They don’t pay them for their work, they treat them as dogs and feed them as they feed their pigs. Slaves can be raped and killed, if necessary.”

Official publications prefer not to expose the Muslim names of the slave owners. Slavic names are used instead. It’s true when they say that crime has no nationality. If so, why did they exhibit the Serbs as criminals in the midst of the war against Yugoslavia? The Serbs remained the primary war criminals after the war too.

However, honest journalists wrote during the war in the Balkans that it was not the Russian mafia or the Serbs that inundated Europe. According to them, Europe’s biggest mobsters were ethnic Albanians. They were involved in a variety of most serious crimes that man could commit – human, arms, drug trafficking, etc.

We are only left to wonder if Europe shows any political will to find a way out of the maze of geopolitics and crime.

An evil father-in-law who imprisoned his son’s Pakistani bride as a sex slave has been jailed – after his victim learned enough English to call police and beg for help.

The depraved 56-year-old stripped the bride of her jewellery and passport after she came to Britain following an arranged marriage, a court heard.

He made her swear on the Koran that she would keep the abuse a secret and promised to heap shame on her by forcing her to divorce his son if she refused his demands for sex.

But after more than three months of abuse, she summoned the little English she had picked up and called 999 at dead of night to plead with the police for help.

Her life was such unbearable misery that she contemplated suicide, Bradford Crown Court heard, after her husband effectively abandoned her at his parents’ home.

The defendant, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, subjected the 22-year-old to ‘repeated and sustained’ sexual abuse, scratching her arm with a screwdriver and burning her with an iron to reinforce his authority over her, the court heard.

Father sells 12-year-old daughter in Antalya: report

n 12773 4A father in the southern Antalya province allegedly sold his pre-teen daughter after signing a contract with a businessmen 40 years her elder, daily Hürriyet reported today.

The father received 5,000 Turkish Liras after signing the contract which stated clearly that he had sold his daughter and was paid the money “in advance.” The contract also read that both the father and the daughter consented to the transaction.

The scandal was revealed when the daughter informed her teacher at school that she had been taken to a hotel and raped by the man who had “bought” her from her father. The teacher immediately passed the information onto local police. A judicial case, however, did not begin until yesterday because police had been unable to locate the businessman for six years.

Secret slaves of Mauritania: Mother and daughter were beaten and raped (and only escaped after their children were murdered)

They perch awkwardly on an imitation rococo sofa in a nondescript room in the desert wastes of Mauritania.

And though the setting is incongruous, it is not as out of place as the horrific tale that Moulkheir Mint Yarba and her daughter Selek’ha have to tell.

Their story – of casual brutality, rape, slavery and the murder of their children – is one that does not belong to the 21st century.

But perhaps the most shocking part of their experience, told in a new CNN investigation Slavery’s Last Stronghold – is that it is not uncommon.

In 1981, Mauritania became the last country in the world to abolish slavery. Owning another person did not become illegal until 2007 and there has only been one successful prosecution.

The United Nations estimates that between 10 and 20 per cent of the 3.4million population are enslaved.

 

 

Moulkheir, who is in her 40s, was born a slave and spent her childhood tending her master’s herds. When she reached puberty, her owner took her out into the fields and raped her for the first time.

In the next few years, she was to bear him five children – all of whom were also born into slavery.

Staggeringly, the tradition is so ingrained in the Mauritanian psyche that Moulkheir did not even question the way she was treated.

‘I was like an animal living with animals,’ she told CNN’s John D. Sutter when he visited the country in December as part of the network’s ongoing Freedom Project, which was set up to fight modern day slavery.

The cataclysmic event which was to shatter her existence forever took place on an ordinary afternoon when she returned home from tending the goats.

Lying dead in the dust outside the hut was her youngest child, a little girl who had only just started to crawl.

Moulkheir’s master – and the child’s father – had dumped the baby outside to die.

He told her she would work faster without the girl tied to her back.

Moulkheir asked to bury the baby. The man refused.

‘(He told me) her soul was a dog’s soul,’ she said.

She was only able to lay her child to rest at the end of the day, in a shallow grave with no burial rites.

‘I only had my tears to console me,’ she told the anti-slavery activists who eventually helped free her.

‘I cried a lot for my daughter and the situation I was in. Instead of understanding, they ordered me to shut up.’

Arab Spring, the consequence of Islamic ascendancy

It would have been very interesting to hear her complaints and why she was at the embassy of her country of origin.

This might also be a good time to mention that the reason that European nations actually went out and colonized parts of Africa and the middle east, was actually to end slavery, an economic activity carried on mostly by Arab Muslims, then as it is today.

The video, first aired by Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) last week, caused outrage by showing a man abusing Alem Dechasa as she cried on a street outside the Ethiopian embassy in Beirut. The man was shown grabbing Dechasa and telling her, “get into the car” while she screamed out, “no, no, no”. Another man then assisted in dragging Dechasa into the back of a car as she struggled to resist.

A woman who was allegedly raped and treated as a slave in the UK when she was a girl told a court she could not understand officials when she arrived.

The deaf woman, who cannot be named, told the jury in Manchester that she was spoken to by passport officials when she arrived from Pakistan.

Ilyas Ashar, 83, and his wife, Tallat Ashar, 66, from Eccles, have denied charges at Minshull Street Crown Court.

Among the charges they face are false imprisonment and human trafficking.

Once again, it must be said. The values imparted by a particular culture/faith/religious system etc. are what determines the actions of a people. The fact this couple people felt what they did was OK as well as so very many similar stories about Muslims throughout the world is not an isolated case. These are not exceptions. While there may not be enough of them to claim it is the rule in the usual sense, it still begs the question as to what extent Islam itself creates a climate where this is just fine for so many.

A deaf 10-year-old girl was trafficked into the UK, repeatedly raped, kept in a cellar and treated as a virtual slave for almost a decade, a court heard today.

The orphaned youngster from Pakistan, who is profoundly deaf and has no speech, was locked in a cellar each night where she would sleep on a concrete floor and by day was forced to work for no money and was sexually assaulted, Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester was told.

Her alleged abusers were Ilyas Ashar, 83, and his wife, Tallat Ashar, 66, who deny charges of false imprisonment, human trafficking, sexual offences, violence and benefit fraud.

If their alleged victim displeased them she would be forced into their cellar where the girl would ‘sit there for hours crying and locked in’, the court heard.

They kept the girl, now aged between 19 and 21, at their home in Cromwell Road, Eccles in Salford, Greater Manchester, after bringing her into Britain from Pakistan in June 2000, Peter Cadwallader, prosecuting, told the jury.

Östlund, from the Department of History at Lund University, found that Sweden had an active role in the 18th century slave-trades through the discovery of forgotten ship registration documents stored in Stockholm’s consulate archives. While ‘not surprised’ about uncovering Sweden’s participation in the Ottoman Empire, he stresses the importance of shedding light on Sweden’s role in the affair. “Sweden actively participated in the Ottoman Empire slave trade with the Sub-Sahara – and this is completely new,” he said. According to Östlund’s findings, the shipping registries state that the Swedish ships’ cargo was “negroes”. While the slaves sent to America were predominantly men used for plantation work, the Ottoman Empire had a different agenda entirely. “Up to 75 percent of the passengers on board were women,” said Östlund. “These women were used as servants and concubines, often both at the same time. They lived a relatively short time, research suggests an average of seven years after reaching the Empire, and this kept the slave trade between Africa and Tripoli going strong.”
