An Egyptian plumber in Alexandria beat his pregnant wife to death upon learning that she had not voted for Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate Mohammed Mursi, reported the Egyptian daily al-Wafd on Sunday.
According to police reports, the initial argument between the couple who was not named escalated into violence, despite her pleas. Battered and bruised, she was reported to have died at the hospital from injuries sustained.
Domestic fights have dominated Egyptian news headlines when the bid fell on the two most feared and most controversial candidates, Mursi and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq.
Voters, along with Egyptian media personalities, heatedly defended their chosen candidates and eagerly await the result which will be announced Sunday.
A man has confessed to beheading his wife before throwing her severed head from the roof of their apartment with his six children all at home.
Orhan Sircasi, who was arrested for the killing of his wife, cut her into pieces with a butchers knife.
The 32-year-old killer attempted to fend off the police shortly before his arrest after lunging at officers with the knife.
He was eventually tackled on the balcony of his apartment complex and taken into custody but not before he threw his wife’s head off the rooftop.

Following his arrest, Sircasi is alleged to have told officials that he ‘regretted nothing’ as he awaits his initial court appearance tomorrow.

A “sick” car salesman has been found guilty of murdering his estranged wife, toddler son and father-in-law in a horrific arson attack.
Danai Muhammadi, 24, drove 200 miles to his in-laws’ Chatham home and used a garden sprayer to pump petrol through the letterbox in a spite-fuelled attack.
A jury at Maidstone Crown Court this afternoon found Muhammadi guilty of three counts of murder and two of attempted murder.
His friend, Maidstone nightclub bouncer Farhad Mahmud, 35, was found guilty of the same charges after a six-week trial.
Muhammadi’s girlfriend – unemployed Emma Smith, 21, of The Barley Lea, Coventry – was found guilty of three counts of manslaughter by 10-2 majorities. Smith was cleared of two counts of attempted murder.

Smiling killer: Ensar Gol, 22, was found guilty of murdering his new bride and mother-in-law in a horrifying attack
A Turkish man, who knifed to death his new bride and mother-in-law in a prolonged and vicious attack, grinned in court today as he was told he would serve a life sentence for their murders.
Smirking Ensar Gol, 22, repeatedly stabbed Michala, his wife of six months, as she lay sleeping in their bed in Thame, Oxfordshire, because he was unhappy in the marriage.
Michala’s mother Julie Sahin, who was watching television downstairs with a friend, rushed up to find Gol perched over her daughter repeatedly plunging the knife into her neck.
As she tried to pull Gol away, she slipped to the floor where she was set upon in a frenzied attack. A post-mortem examination revealed the two women had been stabbed around 70 times.
After murdering the two women Gol scooped up his three-year-old daughter and carried her through the streets, the kitchen knife still in his hand and his jeans splattered with the blood.
A jury sitting at Oxford Crown Court heard how he had been unhappy in his marriage, feeling forced to wed Michala in March 2011.
They had two children together after meeting in the Turkish holiday resort of Bodrum in 2007.
Bearded Gol smiled and nodded as the jury gave their unanimous guilty verdict for the killing of Michala on September 4 last year.
As the public gallery cheered the verdict, Gol, dressed in a black v-neck tee-shirt, stood still and stoney faced as he was also convicted of the murder of Julie Sahin and the attempted murder of her friend Casey Wilson.
High Court Judge Mr Justice Supperstone said he would adjourn Gol’s sentencing until the following day although it was agreed by both prosecution and defence that he would serve at least 30 years.

A killer declared insane after stabbing his wife to death less than a year ago walked free after a court heard he has recovered.
Farrukh Malik knifed Sarwat, his partner of 37 years, more than 120 times during the frenzied attack at their north London home after suffering ‘depressive psychosis’ following the death of his mother.
But the 66-year-old accountant, who is now living with his brother in Slough, Berkshire, was set free after a judge ruled he had no power to detain him because of medical reports which state he is no longer a danger.

The fears of one psychiatrist, who warned his condition could deteriorate again, were set aside after two other doctors said he was a low risk.
Malik a father-of-two, must continue with medical treatment for the next two years.
Setting him free, Judge Gerald Gordon stressed the order was ‘not a punishment’.

Wali Hazrata is in police custody. She has made no public comment about the allegations.A woman in north-eastern Afghanistan has been arrested for allegedly strangling her daughter-in-law for giving birth to a third daughter.
The murdered woman’s husband, a member of a local militia, is also suspected of involvement but he has since fled.
The murder took place two days ago in Kunduz province. The baby girl, who is now two months old, was not hurt.
The birth of a boy is usually a cause for celebration in Afghanistan but girls are generally seen as a burden.
Some women in Afghanistan are abused if they fail to give birth to boys. And this is just the latest in a series of high-profile crimes against women in the country.
Late last year a horrifying video emerged of the injuries suffered by a 15-year-old child bride who was locked up and tortured by her husband.
‘Crime against humanity’
This murder took place in the village of Mahfalay, in the district of Khanabad in Kunduz.
Khanabad’s police chief, Sufi Habib, told the BBC that “the mother gave birth to a third girl two months ago. The husband and mother-in-law strangled her for giving birth to a third daughter”.
A man was being held by police on Monday after allegedly trying to set fire to his grown-up daughter in central Paris.
Le Parisien newspaper reported that the man sprayed teargas in the young woman’s face and then covered her in petrol on Saturday evening.
The father was apparently annoyed that the woman planned to go out with a group of friends that evening and considered her “too emancipated”.
The newspaper quoted a source describing him as a “Muslim fundamentalist.”
The 23-year-old daughter has a room in a building in the city’s 11th arrondissement, close to the Place de la Bastille.
The 49-year-old man went there at around 11.30pm on Saturday evening and started arguing with her in the hall of the building.
He then attacked her with the teargas and poured petrol over her head and face, after which he pulled out a lighter, causing her to scream.
“She managed to grab the lighter from his hands while passers-by heard her screams,” said a source close to the inquiry. “The man quickly made a run for it.”
The woman told police her father had been harassing her for several weeks. “She explained he was unhappy that she had a Jewish boyfriend,” said the source.

Calling the murder of Ethiopian women by their husbands an epidemic that must be stopped immediately, the chairman of the Knesset Committee for Aliya, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs said Wednesday society must not wait idly for the “next shocking murder” to take place.
MK Danny Danon (Likud), who was speaking at special hearing following the murder- suicide last week’s of Lawaka and Yeshi Amara in Rishon Lezion, received data from the Knesset’s Research and Information Department showing that 30 percent of such domestic crimes occur within the Ethiopian immigrant community.
“We should not be accepting this statistic,” stated Danon, highlighting that there seems to be failure by the authorities in reaching and treating immigrant families that are struggling as they start their new lives in Israel.

A white teenage mother was stabbed to death and her body dumped in a canal after her married Asian lover rejected her child, a court heard yesterday.
Student Laura Wilson, 17, was killed by 18-year-old Ashtiaq Asghar, having allegedly been lured alone to the canal by his friend and her former lover Ishaq Hussain, Sheffield Crown Court heard.
Laura had a brief fling with near neighbour Hussain, 22, and gave birth to their daughter in June last year but he refused to accept the child was his, the court was told.
Laura was killed last October only three days after she revealed to the families of Hussain and Asghar that she had had affairs with both men who were trying to keep it secret.

Amman – A Jordanian criminal court has sentenced a 30-year- old Egyptian to only six months in prison for murdering his Jordanian wife for committing adultery last year, the Jordan Times reported Friday.
The court prosecutor had charged the suspect, whose identity was withheld, with premeditated murder, but the tribunal immediately reduced the charge to a misdemeanour because the defendant committed his crime in defence of “family honour,” judicial sources said.
Another court also sentenced a 30-year-old mechanic to only three months in jail after finding him guilty of murdering his younger married sister, the paper said.

YAHOONEWS… PHOENIX – An Iraqi immigrant was sentenced Friday to 34 1/2 years in an Arizona prison for running over and killing his 20-year-old daughter because she became too Westernized.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Roland Steinle told Faleh Hassan Almaleki that forgiveness is the core of all religion, but the judge said he was struck by Almaleki’s apparent lack of remorse for killing Noor Almaleki.
The case caused outrage nationwide after prosecutors deemed it an “honour killing” because Faleh Almaleki had said his daughter dishonoured his family.
