Two men were arrested as part of an ongoing counterterrorism investigation into a group that officials have accused of plotting to kill a random member of the public in Sydney, police said Wednesday, one day after the nation’s prime minister warned of heightened terrorist chatter in the aftermath of a deadly siege in a Sydney cafe.
Sulayman Khalid, 20, was charged on Tuesday with possession of documents designed to facilitate a terrorist attack, while a 21-year-old was charged with breaching a control order, police said.
Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Michael Phelan said there was no specific terrorist threat and the arrests were related to an ongoing counterterrorism operation that led to a series of raids in Sydney in September. One man was charged at that time with conspiring with an Islamic State leader in Syria to behead a random person in Sydney.

Islamic State videos. Cause and effect?
Today, muslims in New York and France attacked police. In Brooklyn, two policemen were murdered by one convert to Islam, Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley. In France, the attacker was heard yelling “Allahu Akbar” by witnesses.
In France as in the US, people are carefully trying to dance around the motive for the attacks as we are used to. This article does reference the Islamic aspect to the attack in some ways, but likely will be part of the ‘lone wolf’ narrative, itself a distraction from the facts. Facts that for example, Stephen Harper has been willing to admit to but pretty much no one else in the Western world.
Below, an Islamic State video published by and removed from Youtube just two days ago, December 19th 2014, in which a French jihadi demands that muslims attack and kill people in all infidel countries, with particular attention to France.
Right below that, another video showing possible consequences of this demand which took place today near Tours in central France.

Apparently there is a Twitter campaign to post your public transit schedule so that muslims can ride with you in case of a never-happening backlash against the people who openly adhere to the ideology which causes all the terrorism in the world. I believe, not fully understanding how Twitter works, that it involves something that looks like #illridewithyou
I wonder if these people understand that it is in more than one way, a near equivalent to #illstrapmyselftothefrontofanazitankasahumanshield
Perhaps people should try trending #stopterrorism or #assimilateormove
But these would be too rational for our culturally marxist times where the optics are currency and the truth is illegal.
By the way, there is a rumor floating around that Lindt, the company that owns that cafe, refused to do halal certification. If this is true, I think I know what to get people for Christmas.

Police say the raids in Sydney yesterday morning foiled a horrifying plot to behead a random member of the Australian public in Sydney’s Martin Place, drape them in an Islamic State flag and behead them on camera.
This morning, terrifying new details have emerged about the plot, with Prime Minister Tony Abbott revealing on Channel Nine’s Today show the beheading was planned to take place “within days”.

TWITTER posts are saying that the BBC is claiming that the hostages have been fitted with backpacks. I can’t find that anywhere. But it would be consistent with islamic Modus Operandi.

Police Spokesman:
At 1.30pm, during rolling coverage, 2GB producer Laura Parr tweeted: “Ray Hadley says he could hear gunman giving instructions to young hostage off air. Told to call him back in 10 minutes.’’
It’s understood Hadley has passed details regarding the call directly to investigators.
“To clarify, Ray Hadley was contacted by the hostage, the call was taken off air and then confirmed by the Police Commissioner,” the station tweeted.
About 50 people remain inside the Lindt cafe as the siege enters its fifth hour.
Lindt stores around Australia, including the franchises in Southbank and Collins St have closed, with a message posted for customers.
“Due to emergency situations, our business in not operated today, until further notice.’’

Sydney man Craig Stoker inadvertently confronted the gunman immediately prior to the siege:
“He was wearing a black T-shirt with white writing on it and a headband and carrying a blue bag.
“The bag bumped into me and there was something hard in it.
“I said ‘watch where you are f***ing going’.
“He turned round and said ‘do you want me to shoot you too?’ I looked into his eyes and they were crazy,” said Mr Stoker, a father of four from Eastlakes. “I was pretty freaked out.”
The bearded man was with two others who were similarly dressed.
It is not known if the other men are also inside the Lindt Café.

Tarek Fatah responds to a Canadian Senator on matters of Islam and national security.
For those who have wondered what sanctimony sounds like, and that would be people who have never visited Canada or gone to a university in the past couple of decades, listen to how a Canadian senator speaks to Tarek Fatah who agreed to speak to a special Senate committee on Islam, terrorism and National Security in Ottawa Yesterday.
This senator was choking on his own moral outrage and so desperate to advertise his moral superiority over Tarek Fatah that he actually admonished him not to interrupt his dressing down of Mr. Fatah although he was just sitting there quietly at the time.
However I think the part of this to take home is the part where Mr. Fatah reminds us all that there is a compulsory prayer in every mosque world wide every Friday which is begging Allah to help the Muslims militarily defeat the Christians and the Jews.

OTTAWA, Ont. – An Ottawa man convicted of a terrorism charge as part of a homegrown conspiracy was handed a 12-year sentence on Thursday.
Misbahuddin Ahmed, 30, had been found guilty of conspiring to facilitate a terrorist activity and participating in the activities of a terrorist group.
The former hospital technician had been acquitted by a jury on a third more serious count — possession of explosives with intent to do harm.
3. UPDATED: Possible Jihadi Attack in NYC
Earlier today a man with an axe approached a group of NYPD officers and, in an unprovoked attack, struck two of them with the axe before succumbing to a hail of bullets from the officers.

***I Was just informed that the guard who was shot at the War Memorial has no ammunition in his rifle. He was uniformed, and had a C7 with zero ammunition in it by policy. This thing could have ended much faster if military personnel had actual ammunition in their weapons. To give a person a visible gun with no ammo is the most dangerous thing I can think of. ***

On Tuesday the Islamist militant group took credit for a mortar attack against the embassy in Baghdad. The group bragged about the attack on social media, claiming that there were likely casualties.

Long time readers of my blog may remember a thing I ran on the sidebar of this site to get the US government to give two new recruits to the US forces a purple heart who had been shot by a convert to Islam while standing in a parking lot of a mall in front of a military office in 2009.
While the similarities are interesting it is the differences that really count in this case.
I ran that campaign because the US government was refusing to look at it as an act of war and so the soldiers were not given the Purple heart which they richly deserved and earned, especially considering the number of people that received one from injuring themselves on things like Coke machines. Seriously.
However as Canada’s government has already clearly acknowledged that this was indeed a terrorist attack I feel hopeful at this time that the two men who were attacked, and one who died, will receive all the benefits for themselves and their families that they would have received had this occurred in an officially designated combat zone.
Perhaps we should keep one jaundiced eye open on the news to make sure this is the case anyway. Political correctness and pressure from muslim groups surely will try and get this listed as ‘work-place violence’ or some other Obama brand, US style crazy deflection from reality. But I hope we Canadians have more sense than that and are capable of dealing with reality in the here and now.
Meanwhile, people may want to check out Point De Bascule which has a great set of resources on the Imam who preaches at the mosque that the jihadi who attacked those two men near Montreal attended.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sorrow for the loss, and respect for this serviceman who died in this jihadi attack as well as the other who was injured. A caller to Lowell Green’s show this morning had a great idea that all of us should show support by dressing in combat fatigues or otherwise in military style with the proviso that we do not actually wear a uniform if we are not in the forces. But cammo pants or jacket would be a good idea.
