Al-Qaeda: ‘We Hit Israel From Lebanon, Again’

(IsraelNN.com) h/t gov An al-Qaeda branch apparently active in Lebanon claims to have launched attacks on Israel. The group mocks the Iran-backed Hizbullah terrorist organization and calls for a unified front against Israel and the United Nations under the command of Osama Bin-Laden.

The call to jihad was issued in a video recording released this past week by al-Qaeda of al-Sham, a region known as
These actions, the video claims, were carried out under the direct command of Bin-Laden.
“Greater Syria” encompassing Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and parts of Jordan, Iraq and Turkey. The brief video, titled “Penetrating the Fortresses”, includes statements by al-Qaeda senior leaders such as Osama Bin-Laden, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi and Ayman al-Zawahiri relating to the jihadist front with Israel. The jihadists, they say, will not sit quietly and will even crawl to get to the front and “free Palestine”.

As an example, the video explains and visually demonstrates how a cell from al-Qaeda of al-Sham (AQASH) supposedly bypassed the Lebanese Army, Hizbullah and UNIFIL forces, launched missiles towards Israel, and then retreated undetected. These actions, the video claims, were carried out under the direct command of Bin-Laden, and it calls for more such attacks against the Jewish State.

The AQASH video claim of responsibility for a rocket attack apparently refers to a January 8, 2009 barrage from southern Lebanon that hit the Israeli city of Nahariya. Three Katyusha rockets injured two people and caused significant property damage. At the time, Hizbullah denied involvement in the incident.

The al-Qaeda cell claims to have perpetrated or having tried to perpetrate additional attacks on Israel, as well. “Some were launched and some were foiled,” the video said flatly.

AQASH calls for the Fatah al-Islam jihadist group, which was once a Syrian front group, and other Islamist organizations in Lebanon to join them in their effforts: “Al-Qaeda is already active in [Lebanon and elsewhere in Greater Syria] and the father-leader, Bin-Laden, must be obeyed.”

Regarding Lebanon, AQASH calls for the cancellation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War, because it “is only for the benefit of the Israelis.” The video further criticizes Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who “decried the actions of the jihadists who fired the Katyushas towards Israel as collaborators of the Israelis”, even though during the last Israeli operation in Gaza, “he did nothing and even agreed that the Crusader forces (UNIFIL) can base themselves in southern Lebanon.” The AQASH voiceover taunts Nasrallah, “So now who are the collaborators?”

The Lebanon-based al-Qaeda branch declared that “Hizbullah is using the Palestinian cause to fulfill Iran’s orders.”

‘Al-Qaeda Will Try to Assert Itself’
Security analysts with the Institute of Terrorism Research and Response (ITRR) expect increased terror activity aimed at Western interests inside Lebanon as the “Greater Syria” al-Qaeda affiliate asserts itself.

“Aside from the named United Nations troops in southern Lebanon, Lebanese government and Western organizations and NGOs are likely to be targeted, as are hotels used by Westerners” the ITRR sources said.

Apparently intended as part of this trend, a large al-Qaeda cell was alleged by Lebanese authorities to have been plotting attacks against UN troops in Southern Lebanon. On July 22, the Lebanese army said it arrested ten people involved in the plot.
Shalev blamed Lebanon for failing to halt the delivery of Iranian weapons.

Collusion Between Hizbullah and Lebanese Authorities
While an al-Qaeda-affiliated threat to Israel appears to be forming in southern Lebanon, Hizbullah logistical and material supply chains are receiving silent acceptance by the Lebanese authorities.

The latter claim was part of a speech delivered to the United Nations Security Council on Monday by Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gabriella Shalev. The explosion that took place in a village in southern Lebanon two weeks ago, which revealed a Hizbullah cache under the noses of UNIFIL, was symptomatic of “a dangerous phenomenon that Israel has been warning about for years.”

Shalev blamed Lebanon for failing to halt the delivery of Iranian weapons into the hands of Hizbullah. The Lebanese-Syrian border is porous, she explained, which entailed a breach of UN resolutions on rearming Hizbullah. The behavior of Hizbullah in southern Lebanon, she said, is an example of “the danger posed to our region by Iran.”

Holy land: Christians in Peril. Pierre Rehov

This film is important for anyone who thinks Islam is some form of Judaism or Christianity. More likely, you may know someone who likes to use arguments of cultural or moral relativism when you try and discuss Islam with them. Please ask them over and play this for them in full screen.

There is no other group planning the ethnic cleansing and then ultimately the utter destruction of other faith groups than Islam. Take the time and watch this, then go to Pierre’s site and order his new film, ‘First Comes Saturday, Then Comes Sunday.’ This apparently is a common phrase/sentiment with Muslims meaning, first we deal with the Jews (who have their holy day on Saturday) then we deal with the Christians.

Thanks to KitmanTV who has tons and tons of excellent vids on this and other important subjects. Check his site often.

Enjoy:

Kristallnacht will begin at Starbucks. And it will be soon.

Readers of Vlad will know we follow two threads especially. Artists and Islam and for very important reasons, not the least of which, is that artists like gay groups which are famously liberal (as are we at Vlad) have somehow been conned into joining the most illiberal forces on earth today masquerading as human rights groups or ‘peace’ groups. This tactic is what destroyed an otherwise pretty decent Iran. And the Jihad against starbucks. Initially it was a kind of curiosity to us. How the left and militant Islam had joined forces to try and destroy Starbucks. We have seen Starbucks locations destroyed in Europe during pro Hamas demonstrations and various locations of Starbucks in Canada and elsewhere have had peculiar protests and memo’s from head office. Muslims with a motive of pure anti semitism have managed to co-opt students leftists and basically anyone stupid or uneducated enough to wear a Che T shirt, to attack Starbucks for the ‘anti corporate’ agenda so fashionable with kids who do not have to pay their own bills. Kristallnacht will happen again, it will happen soon, and it will start at Starbucks.

Now we have this in Lebanon…

Activists protest against Starbucks, drive off customers

BEIRUT: About 25 young activists belonging to the Union of Lebanese Democratic Youth (ULDY) demonstrated outside a Beirut Starbucks Monday evening to protest the Seattle-based coffee shop’s ties to Israel. Members handed out leaflets and shouted slogans outside the store, catching the attention of passers-by and virtually ending all traffic heading in for a drink. A handful of police officers guarded the entrance of the store while two army trucks unloaded about a dozen soldiers across the street in anticipation of violence.

“It’s not just Starbucks that we’re demonstrating against,” 25-year-old ULDY member Hassan Zeitouny said. “It’s a demonstration against all that send aid to Israel, especially those that give money to Israelis to return back to Israel.”

ULDY – a leftist organization with ties to the Lebanese Communist Party – organized a similar demonstration outside the Hamra Starbucks during Israel’s devastating 22-day assault on Gaza in January. The group is also active in the larger campaign to boycott other American products and companies which it accuses of supporting Israel such as CocaCola and Phillip Morris.

The activists held signs up to the cafe’s windows with one displaying a drawing of a Starbucks’ cup overflowing with blood while another carried a mock-menu offering “coffee to kill my family,” and “espresso to knock down my house.”

Cheers were sung as each customer left the shop. After the last customers exited quietly, the cafe was left empty except for a few discouraged-looking employees sitting around a table drinking their own product.

“It’s good that people are leaving. I think they understood something – they understood this shop here is against Lebanon,” Zeitouni said. “Some citizens don’t know that Starbucks gives money to Israel while others know but don’t want to understand how much this flies in the face of what we stand for.”

The direct story on Hitchens in Lebanon. A must read.

This story is much more than about Chris Hitchens utterly brave and rightious actions against a classic symbol of utter tyrany. It’s also a dramatic eye opener as to the nature of the Syrian regime, Lebanon and the possible Somalification of parts of the middle east. I will have to read this a number of times to digest all the new information contained herein. I do appreciate one thing Hitchens said though…

No that was a lie. I appreciate everything Christopher Hitchens says. But in particular he said something about this incident which reflects one of my most personal inner monologues. What would I do if facing a Hitlerian regime. How would I react to the thuggery and the symbolism and brutish oppresion. Would I have the courage to act as perhaps all of us imagine we would? Chris Hitchens did. The sick twisted and unpalatable fact is, we all may in the not too distant future. More of us have already perhaps than are prepared to admit it.

Take your time and read through this story in this link. A small sample is below…

We had just attended a massive rally downtown commemorating the fourth anniversary of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Christopher needed a new pair of shoes. Our colleague Jonathan Foreman from Standpoint Magazine needed a shirt. I needed a coffee. So I led the way as the three of us strolled over to Hamra Street where we could buy just about anything. And I told my two companions a story about the neighborhood’s past on the way.

“When Hezbollah violently seized West Beirut last May,” I said, “the Syrian Social Nationalist Party followed them in. They put up their spinning swastika flags all over the neighborhood, and no one dared touch them until the prime minister ordered them taken down several months later.”

“SSNP SSNP flags on Hamra Street

It was a warning of sorts – or at least it would have been heeded as such by most people. I don’t go looking for trouble, Jonathan is as mild-mannered a writer as any I know, but Christopher is brave and combative, and he would have none of it.

“My attitude to posters with swastikas on them,” he later told Alice Fordham at NOW Lebanon, “has always been the same. They should be ripped down.”

Don’t pass this on. Go to the original site and read it all. Warning: It’s a little like paint stripper for the eyes.

Interview with David Harris former Chief of Strategic Planning for CSIS and current Director of INSIGNIS

Here is an interview with a man in a position to know what is going on with respect to Islamic terrorism in the world. He speaks of Iran, Hamas Spain and the soft Jihad. Sadly this is only about thirty percent of the total interview he gave as the sound quality was simply too poor on the first two thirds to be able to make one’s way through. In this last third he does make some very strong points about the truly grave dangers facing the western world, Canada and the USA in particular and the danger of unchecked immigration.

An article by David Harris is available here about the infiltration of Islam to the Canadian political mainstream.

David B. Harris is a Canadian lawyer, Director of INSIGNIS Strategic Research Inc’s International and Terrorist Intelligence Program, and former Chief of Strategic Planning of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).

(Note from James Cohen)

“This show created some difficulty for me, not the least of which is the horrific nature of the information Mr. Harris gave and the severity and immediacy of the threat facing the western world and classical civilization itself, but because I never before have had to edit any show other than making the transitions from speech to music a little smoother but never for content. In this case as we had massive sound issues due to a number of new variables we introduced in this particular show, the first 2/3rds of the program are simply unlistenable and I felt that it would be better removed. However for those who would like to hear the entire file I will make it available as a download by request through email. You can understand the first part but it takes some focus. Anyone wishing to hear the entire show may email me at ja***@***************io.com and I would be happy to send you the entire thing. I wish to stress that no editing was done in order to change the context or nature of any information Dave Harris gave but because of the technical issues with the first parts of the show. Also, after we say good bye to Mr. Harris he brings up a rather excellent point at the end about how people who are preventing any real threat mitigation by demanding no loss of civil rights are very likely facing a situation where any civil rights are a distant memory for all of us and likely for a very long time.”

Egypt: “Hizbullah has declared war on us”

From the Jerusalem Post

n a press conference held on Monday afternoon in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit responded to criticism by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday, saying that “They have practically declared war on Egypt via several satellite stations The Egyptian people reject and opposes this declaration.”

They want for there to be chaos in Egypt as there is in their country,” Gheit said of Hizbullah. “I tell this man [Nasrallah]: No, no! Our armed forces can defend our homeland from people like you. Your interest in creating chaos is not in the best interest of the area,” he added.

The Egyptian foreign minister added that his country had tried to prevent the escalation in violence by asking Israel not to carry out an operation in the Gaza Strip. “We asked Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to Cairo in order to tell her: ‘Do not attack the Gaza Strip,’ but unfortunately, this is not what happened.”

Meanwhile, Tens of thousands of Lebanese Hizbullah supporters poured into the streets of southern Beirut, protesting Israel’s air assault on the Gaza Strip. The protesters carried Palestinian, Lebanese and yellow Hizbullah flags and banners supporting the Palestinian people.

“Death to Israel,” and “At your service, Gaza!” many in the crowd shouted during Monday’s demonstration.

The massive rally was called for by Nasrallah who in a speech on Sunday urged crowds in the Arab and Islamic world to rise up in support of Gaza. He declared Monday a day of mourning and solidarity with Gaza. In his televised speech on Sunday, Nasrallah attacked Arab nations – particularly Egypt and Jordan – and accused them of cooperation with Israel in its offensive in the Gaza Strip.

“There are some who speak of Arab silence, but this is wrong. There is full Arab cooperation, especially by those who have signed so-called peace agreements with Israel,” he said.

The Hizbullah leader called on Arabs everywhere to go out into the streets and demonstrate, in order to force their governments to stop the Israeli offensive. Nasrallah reprimanded Egypt for casting the responsibility of the condition in Gaza on Hamas. He attacked the Egyptian foreign minister who in a Saturday press said that Hamas, which had been repeatedly warned by Egypt, must bear responsibility for the current situation in Gaza.

“Yesterday, we heard a high-ranking Egyptian leader cast the responsibility on the victim. Can we accept such things from Arabs? Casting the responsibility for this war on the Gaza resistance is embarrassing and saddening,” Nasrallah added. “Our nations call on Egypt to help.”

Nasrallah also warned the Lebanese government and army to be on alert in southern Lebanon in case Israel attacked. Nasrallah said Sunday that Hizbullah is ready to confront any Israeli “aggression” against Lebanon in light of Israel’s assault on Gaza.

“Since the beginning of the Zionist attack on Gaza, Israeli officials have issued threats about another front, and they mean Lebanon,” Nasrallah said.

He warned that Israel has taken measures on its borders that might or might not be defensive, and “might take advantage of the situation to launch an attack on Lebanon. “Nasrallah said that Israel needed such action on “an electoral level and to salvage the image of the Israeli army.” But, he added, “We are not concerned or afraid… We are ready to face any attack on our country.”

Nasrallah was speaking from a secret location through a giant screen to hundreds of supporters who gathered in Hizbullah’s stronghold of Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Elsewhere across the Middle East, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on Sunday for the second day in a row to protest Israel’s air assaults on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. From Ramallah to Lebanon to Iran and Iraq, crowds of protesters called for an end to Israel’s attacks, which began Saturday and have claimed more than 280 lives in the Hamas-controlled Strip.

Several of the protests turned violent.

“We have a disaster here… the number of people dying, the number of wounded, the number of houses and buildings destroyed, which is carried by almost 700 Arabic satellite stations” said Dr. Abdel Monem Said Ali, director of the Cairo-based Al-Ahram Center for Strategic and Political Studies.

“I think it is mobilizing the Arab public in a way that for sure will push their governments” to take diplomatic and political action, he said.

Arab foreign ministers are scheduled to meet in Cairo on Wednesday under the auspices of the Arab League to “formulate the Arab position to deal with Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip,” Arab League Chairman Amr Moussa said Saturday night.

The urgent meeting was initially going to take place on Sunday but was delayed to accommodate members who had meetings scheduled with other Arab regional groups.

On Sunday, Moussa said that the UN Security Council action passed earlier in the day expressing serious concern at the escalating situation in Gaza and urging an immediate halt to all violence was “not enough.”

At the upcoming Arab League meeting, the members will “have to balance a very strong message of support to the Palestinians with keeping the road open to negotiations,” Ali said.

“Some will call on Egypt and Jordan to cut diplomatic relations with Israel.”

Already on Saturday, Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir told Al-Jazeera that those nations which have normal relations with Israel should cut their ties in light of the Gaza operation, Ali said. Jordan, Egypt and Mauritania are the only three Arab League states that have full diplomatic relations with Israel.

Both Egypt and Jordan are receiving internal pressure from syndicates, trade unions and political parties to sever their relations with Israel.

Jordanian deputies burnt an Israeli flag during a parliamentary session on Sunday in a rare protest against the Jewish state’s raids on the Gaza Strip, Reuters reported.

Delaying the Arab League meeting by a few days could be a wise choice to let things cool off a bit, Ali said.

Germany bans Hezbollah’s TV channel as incompatible with international understanding

Reuters writes:

BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany’s interior ministry has banned Al-Manar satellite television, the mouthpiece of Lebanon’s Hezbollah anti-Israel guerrillas, a ministry spokesman said on Friday.

The station, which the United States designated a “terrorist organisation” shortly before banning it in 2004, was also barred in France.
Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said the ban was introduced because the channel did not promote international understanding and violated the German constitution.
The ministry said the restrictions covered Al-Manar advertisements, fund-raising for its studios and the reception of the satellite television station in hotels. Private homes will still be able to view the channel.
Al-Manar is the mouthpiece of Hezbollah guerrillas who played a major role in forcing an end to Israel’s 22-year occupation of south Lebanon.
Hezbollah funds Al-Manar, its sister radio station Al-Nour and the parent company Lebanon Media Group.

By way of comment, it’s most likely the cited constitutional provisions are among the ‘Never again’ clauses enacted after World War II as a part of campaign of de-Nazifying Germany. Some of these clauses — such as the constitutional ban on the straight-hand salute — may appear slightly silly to an average Westerner, but some are very powerful and valuable tools against hateful ideologies and organisations whose views of multiculturalism are rather, shall we say, monoculturalist.
